This was such an awesome hidden gem!! Our servers were so sweet and truly made the experience worthwhile. Even though they actually got our orders wrong, they quickly fixed it- and were super helpful about the menu. All the food was delicious, and I loved my bacon pimiento burger. It was also a family birthday, and they brought us a buttermilk pie to try, which we all loved as well.

The Iron Fork Cafe has intrigued us for a while but it was always too busy when we arrived to eat there on the weekend. This time, we made it on a Thursday night at about 5:30 pm and were able to be seated. The restaurant was still pretty full, but service was prompt, even though our server let us know that she was new. They handled my gluten free questions easily and I ended up getting my old standby - blackened salmon, with Cole slaw and broccoli. My son had a country fried steak, collards and Mac n cheese. We were happy with our food, and the French Kiss martini was delicious!

Served me raw chicken. Hard to contact on the phone. Overall, good experience picking up the food. Staff was friendly and nice, but I could not eat my food.

Veggie plate with brussels sprouts, okra, cornbread and squash casserole!

A good meat and 2/3 place and the only one in lake Oconee that I know of. The service is quick and the buttermilk pie is great!

Lunch isn't horrible but breakfast is not edible. No need for 85 characters. Don't waste your money

It's fine. I need 85 characters to post a review. It's fine, it's okay. Better than Waffle House and not as overpriced as the Ritz.

I felt completely comfortable dining alone. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without constantly interrupting my meal. I was especially impressed by how involved the management was. The general manager actively worked the room, assisted the staff, and took time to speak with guests instead of remaining behind the scenes. The chicken Parmesan was excellent. The breaded chicken was crisp outside but still tender and juicy, with a savory marinara and just enough melted cheese. The pasta was cooked properly, and the accompanying garlic bread was crunchy around the edges while remaining soft inside. The generous serving provided plenty of leftovers. The strawberry basil margarita was refreshing and well balanced, with enough fruit flavor to be interesting without becoming overly sweet. For dessert, the peanut butter pie had a wonderfully smooth, creamy texture and a rich flavor that never felt excessive. The onion ring tower is also worth ordering, especially for a group. The rings are thick, crispy, well seasoned, and clearly prepared fresh. It would be far too much for most solo diners, so plan to share. Although the restaurant is not directly on the waterfront, the patio and some tables offer views of Lake Oconee. There is ample free parking, and the regular live music and special events add to the lively local atmosphere. Lake Oconee Bistro has earned a place on my list whenever I return to the area.

Beautiful Setting, Disappointing Service…read more We frequent this restaurant because the venue itself is a great place to spend time. Unfortunately, the food has consistently been mediocre, and today's brunch was no exception. What really prompted this review, though, was the service. At her meal-arrival check-in, I told our server that we were missing a side item, and she acknowledged it. At the end of the meal, after the entrée had been eaten, I again confirmed that the side had never arrived. Since it was too late to receive the item, I asked whether they would consider taking a percentage off the bill. Rather than addressing my request or apologizing for the oversight, the server asked my dining companion whether he would prefer the missing item packaged to go. That was an odd assumption; not only that he should be the one to decide, but that he was necessarily the person paying for the inadequate meal. The bigger issue is that when a customer expresses dissatisfaction, the server should listen, apologize, and, involve management to determine how to make the situation right. At minimum, an apology would have gone a long way; unfortunately, none was offered. With the prices being charged and the food being only so-so, this restaurant really needs to capitalize on what it does have going for it, the beautiful setting. By making the service experience exceptional, a lot of faults could be overlooked. We enjoy coming here and would love to see the restaurant do better.

We caught it right as Hurricane Isaias was rolling in, which gave the lake a beautiful, moody ambiance. For the main event, I gobbled up the Bolognese from Amore del Lago--rigatoni with heavy Mariana. (I hope you get the joke! ) CJ and Will gave attentive and amazing service.

We decided last minute to join some friends who already had a reservation so they canceled ours and added us to our friends with no issue. It was hard to understand why the reservation system showed little availability as the restaurant was half empty. May be they were short staffed. We were seated in their fully enclosed patio at a low table (there were high tops as well). Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and offered up the specials from memory. We started with the focaccia, which I highly recommend! Everyone at our table thought it was the best they've had. It came with a whipped ricotta and olive tapenade, both of which were excellent! For my entree, I had the carnivora pizza which was perfectly cooked. Thin and slightly crunchy, there were not a ton of toppings that overwhelmed the crust, which was good in this case. The calabrian chiles gave it a nice kick and made the meal for me! My only issue was that they got my leftovers mixed up so when I opened them the next morning, it was not my food!
