Not new, but well kept, clean, and cheerful. Not new, but well kept, with nicely spaced tables & booths inside. Both covered seating , and open seating outside. Family friendly. Outside has lovely old tall, tall cypress trees along the side. like you see in Italy. They have added new little cypress trees in pots in the front so you can see how the tall ones began. The adjacent parking lot is usually ample. Location: Although it is outside the busy main area of Athens, it's a quick drive and well worth the trip. It's near the state botanical garden if you want to enjoy another Athens treasure before or after you eat. * * The only complaint we have is the addition of loud music after the new management took over -it's worse inside, so you can have conversations more easily outside if the weather permits. read more

This has been my absolute favorite pizza place for at least 10 years...until tonight. Apparently they have changed their crust. Rather than the past thin, tender crust, it's now twice as thick (not their sicilian style) and is like a tough piece of bread with toppings. I'm so disappointed. I'll probably give them one more chance on the off-chance that tonight was a fluke. But then I may have to find a new local favorite. read more

We went on a Saturday night, busy, not organized. Walk up to no menu with a table in the way of where you stand to order. Have to walk around people looking at a hand held menu to get a menu to then stand in limited area to look over menu. Ordered a Calzone and 2 pizzas, 80$ later, (water for drinks) told no substitutions... we get how they make it. They forgot our side of ranch, when asked about it, they act like I was trying to get over on them, after spending 80$.... Yes I paid for it. !?! ( 4 sides to be exact) They act very ungrateful. Had to get a chargeback on my card for food that I never received. Absolute crooks!! Absolute worse experience. We came in around 8:30 on a Friday night, did not see hours posted. Was a larger party so it took a bit to order. They were out of items that they didn't bother to tell us until we had ordered and paid. When we ask for a refund on items they didn't have, older man became extremely ugly to us. Told us we came in that late and then ask for a refund ? Two employees came out and apologized for his behavior, that's how rude he was. We finally received our food and server came out and said they closed 20 minutes ago and we needed to wrap it up. Proceeded to tell everyone else in restaurant same thing. We should have been told they were preparing to close instead of taking our money and then asking us to leave. Have never been treated this poorly by a restaurant. Will not be returning. read more

My family and I arrived at the restaurant at 8:40pm on Friday 4/3/2026. We were greeted at the door by the host/server (skinny white male, about 6', brown hair) who told us "we're closing so we can't serve you". We looked around at the almost full restaurant and said to the host "the hours online say 10pm". Before we could ask if there was a mistake with the hours posted online he replied "the hours online are wrong" and walked away leaving us standing at the door feeling awkward. The table next to us at the door said "the host said the same thing to us an hour ago, he just doesn't want to serve anybody". We could tell they were very dissatisfied also. We have been to Peppinos several times this year and previous years, including late at night, and have never had this issue. I've managed customer service industries for over 15 years and his attitude and the way he spoke to us is totally unacceptable. If it were one of my employees this would be his last night working for me. Very disappointed and displeased with the experience. We will not be coming back in the future. We stopped in after driving from St. Louis for my daughter's graduation. Since it was 8:30 pm we were told you have to hurry and order because we close at 9:30. They already had all of the chair up on tables and were irritated we asked to sit and eat. We ate there last night. Pizza was delicious. They still have a plastic "Covid" shield between customers and staff at front counter. Thank you for getting better plastic ware. My main suggestion would be for someone to work the dining room to take away dirty plates, and clean tables after customers leave. Came by on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. This was our first time eating here. You order at the counter and the girl at the register helped us with the menu. Even though the specials on the menu say Monday through Friday for lunch you can also order these specials on Sunday. We ordered the slice, salad, and drink special. The salad is a small salad bar with lettuce and eight sides. The creamy Italian dressing was really good and tasted good on the salad. Our slices were both a good size and was the perfect amount of pizza for lunch. The pizza was quite tasty. A table near us ordered the lasagna which they said was very good and a nice size portion. I used to really love their pizza but it's changed over the last year or two. The dough uses to be thinner and I think the sauce may have changed also. I'm not exactly sure what it is but is used to be like the pizza I'd find in Philly or on the New Jersey boardwalk now not so much. We came in for lunch and got the lunch special of a one topping pizza and two drinks and two salads for $14. We paid extra for a second topping. The salad bar was small but everything was fresh. The pizza was scrumptious. The crust was thin and absolutely delicious. The pizza was seasoned well and there were plenty of toppings on it. We both loved it. We ended our lunch sharing a slice of tiramisu and it was simply decadent. I can't wait to go visit my daughter again so we can repeat our lunch here. I highly recommend you trying this place! There were a feel lunch specials, but we ended up getting a pie with pepperoni which came with 2 salads and 2 sodas. Everyone else got 2 slices, which are more like NY style. This was the first pizza I've tired in the Athens area and it was okay. I thought the dough of the pizza tasted just alright and I didn't like how it wasn't crispy but soggy. I did however like the garlic cheese bread and the cheese that was on the pizza. If the pizza just had a different dough, it would be a lot better. Or just maybe an added ingredient. It's like it's missing something. What I also didn't like was the underwhelming sound of the girls voice that took my order and how short she was. She made me feel like I was bothering her. Her idea of customer service aint it! Then I went inside to pick up my food and the same girl hands me two empty sauce cups and says "you can get your ranch yourself over there". Like WTF, I've never been ANYWHERE that makes me get my own ranch on a to go order.
