It seems like a lot of college students working their first service jobs, so they're inexperienced and pretty disorganized. They were also out of so many drinks. Every time we ordered a drink, our waiter would come back and tell us they were out of it. The restaurant is also very loud. Everything echoes off the walls, and we were practically yelling across the table just to understand each other. Overall, if you want good food, definitely try it out! But considering the service, drink availability, and noise level, there's definitely room for improvement.

I finally found what I was looking for in Monroe Pizzeria & Eatery. The service is impeccable, with our server checking in regularly. The atmosphere is friendly. We were there for lunch so not much of a drinking crowd. It might be louder in the evening. Now to the star of the show - the pizza. The crust is a little thicker than the traditional NY thin, more like Connecticut. But the taste was perfect. The sauce is bright with a good zing. And the toppings were *chef's kiss*. We had mushrooms, char and cup pepperoni, fresh ricotta, banana peppers and black olives. Absolutely delicious! I'd give more than 5 stars if I could.

My only complaints were that drinks are served in bottles and there were no dispensers of cheese and red pepper on the tables. A restaurant this nice should really have a soda fountain. When I asked for Parmesan cheese and pepper, they brought it quickly, but it was in little plastic cups. Those are little details but they distracted from the experience. My guess is that there is probably more takeout and delivery business than dine-in. I'd definitely go back though. But.....their staff that I have encountered the last two days are the man reason I will remain loyal to them. The personableness and kindness I received the entire time I was there is what is missing in a lot of the world these days. They are two blocks from the hospital and I was going to stay the night with my grandmother. Both took the time to ask about her, talk about my situation, and make sure I felt like a friend before I left. I didn't place an order and wait for it to be handed to me. I was talked through a menu I was unfamiliar with. And I was treated like a human being. Can not wait to return.

Like most college towns (I suppose), Athens maxes out the quantity on pizza choices, but the…read morequality often lags behind. That's been true for as long as I can remember, because I grew up here and I'm pretty damn old. Automatic Pizza has to be on the high end of the Athens pizza quality scale, though. Enough so that, as I explain in most recent Yelp review I wrote, we'd drive halfway across Athens to pick up a pizza from here even though there was a neighborhood pizza joint just up our old street. Housed in an old corner gas station that has since served time as the Black Forest Bake Shop, among other things, Automatic goes for the New York style and does it better than most places outside of New York and the Northeast do it. Good sturdy, flavorful crust with zesty sauce, the large size (18 inches) is massive clown-shoe pizza that is totally foldable, the way I want to eat this style of pizza. The staff has always been friendly, too. Parking is a bit of an annoyance. There are like three parking spots, and the cross-streets don't have much in the way of street parking. Four-stars-plus.
