We got the Besto Pesto with that amazing pesto swirl and the Thai One On pizza--both were incredible, packed with flavor and super fresh. Stopped by here on a Friday night. We got there about 6:00 and the place was packed. We ended finally sitting at the bar. Ordered a couple beers and ordered our food. I ordered the Italian sub heated. Good amount of meat, cheese, and veggies. Very good. My wife ordered the Philly cheesesteak wrap. We split a huge order of tots. Food arrived quickly on a busy night. My wife enjoyed her wrap. She took half of it home along with half the tots for the next day. Good food and service. read more

This used to be a Waffle House. Doesn't sound like much of a loss, right? There are only about 150,000 more Waffle House locations in the state of Georgia, after all. Hell, there are Georgia interstate exits with *two* Waffle Houses, one on each side. But this was *our* Waffle House, the one in the neighborhood we grew up in and the one we ate at seemingly hundreds of times. It represented the old Five Points, the one that was a relatively modest and unpretentious middle-class neighborhood that just happened to abut a big state university. Now Five Points has gone full frou-frou and boutique-y. (Or just about: There's still the Golden Pantry on the corner.) Anyway, the Waffle House's disappearance was inevitable, but I'd hoped for a successor that was at least halfway exciting. Fully Loaded isn't it. The pizza here is quite average, and that's not good enough. The crust is pretty bland; it's too doughy and doesn't have distinctive texture or flavor. And the sauce is pretty bland, too. Not terrible, but forgettable, when you get right down to it, and who needs that? Seems like a nice party pizza place for the kids, though. My mom recently downsized, leaving the Five Points house we grew up in. But when we'd visit there in recent years and wanted pizza, we'd actually drive halfway across Athens to pick up a better pizza even though Fully Loaded was literally just a couple of hundred yards from the house. read more

+1 star because the vibes inside are great, +1 star because the pizza was good, and -3 stars because their topping substitution policy feels criminal and the guy taking our order not only acted like every thing I asked for was the greatest inconvenience on earth, but also proceeded to royally mess up our order. For context, I ordered the 18" Fully Loaded and wanted half of it without meat so my vegetarian friend could eat it. I asked the guy if I could get half of it without meat, which he said he could do. I then asked if I could add jalapeños, which he said would be an extra $2.50. When I asked if I could sub one meat for jalapeños I got... yet another no. Fully Loaded is the only pizza place I've ever been to that doesn't do topping substitutions like that. Anyways, long story short we confirmed the order and when we brought it home it had none of the four veggies that come on the Fully Loaded. To make matters funnier, he did end up putting jalapeños on the whole thing (and he charged us the $2.50 for them). So we got charged the full $27 for a 18" Fully Loaded pizza + the $2.50 for jalapeños for literally a jalapeño and half-meat pizza. I feel robbed. Disclaimer: I'm a server. I understand when customers are awful and completely misexplain things. This was not one of those cases. This guy at Fully Loaded just seemed like vindictive or something. read more

What could improve? The owner, Kell, could definitely improve as a business owner. My family of 3, and my sister's family of 3 have made coming to eat at Fully Loaded a tradition before some UGA sports events. Well, that has ended today. First, let me say the servers have always been great. Always, even today. It's unfortunately the owner's behavior that has made us never return to his business. A very kind server came around asking who drives a black Lexus. My brother-in- law said that was him. The server, kindly, asked him to move his car. My brother-in-law even said of course, sorry but the car that was parked in front of me parked awful so I had to also park bad because of him. Well, he gets out to the parking lot and the other car's driver starts absolutely berating and yelling at my brother-in-law. Come to find out from the kind server- that was the owner Kell Dodson. We said WOW! The owner of a restaurant treats its customers like that, good to know. We will definitely not be back then.
