I would like to give more stars but the place was just *meh*. It seemed clean enough but sort of thrown together with a college town vibe. The kind cashier guy earned more 's than the restaurant. The BBQ chicken pizza was alright, nothing special. Probably wouldn't return. ‍ read more

Athens Pizza - BBQ chicken pizza - Pizza Near Me - Athens, Georgia

Athens Pizza is a bit of an Athens mainstay. Good pizza and decent prices; what's not to love? Well, their take-out, for one. Of the three times I've ordered takeout from Athens pizza they've managed to mess it up twice, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. This time was particularly irritating. We enter the restaurant and our pizza, which was supposed to be ready, was accidentally given to another customer. Obviously that's a fairly serious mistake in the restaurant industry, except that the guy behind the counter made it seem like it was just another Tuesday. Lackluster apology, no regret whatsoever. We ended up sitting and waiting for 15 minutes as they made us a new one, and then another man came out and gave it to us with, yet again, no apology, "sorry," or anything. Three stars because the pizza is genuinely good and I hate to rag on a local institution, but like, c'mon. read more

So I was in Athens for the day and being the pizzaholic that I am I decided to give this place a try . The place isn't much to look at inside . I ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza and an order of chicken parmigiana to go. The menu on the counters prices seemed very low to me . My total came to $20 and some change and a $2 tip.I waited for a bit and the guy came out and gave me a small pizza box and bag with parm. I thought he had given me a personal pizza instead of the large and thought well maybe that's why it was so cheap. Well I was in a hurry so I got back and opened it and it was a single slice of pizza . So it cost me $20 for a slice and a chicken parm which said $8.95 on their menu in store and $10.95 online so looks like their slices are about $8-11 each. The food was ok. Probably won't be back though . Didn't bother going back to argue over a few bucks but still just doesn't sit right with me. read more

One star for ambiance - this is definitely a take-out place! However, as our 1st visit, we dined in. Sparse furnishings - we asked for salt and pepper - they had to get them from the kitchen. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer - standard institutional heavy breaded rings. Now, where this place shines is the pizza! We ordered the delux, crust not too thin, not too thick, and great texture. All ingredients tasted fresh. The sauce was delicious and the vegetables and meats were just right! The cheese was fantastic and plenty of it. The next visit will be takeout - some of the best pizza in Athens! read more

Worst food experience I've ever had. I went to pick up my food and the guy working there was so rude for no reason. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and I got cheese. When I got back to eat my food the food tasted absolutely terrible. You couldn't pay me to eat there again. Literally any other pizza place in Athens is better this one and it's not even close. I honestly don't even know how they're still in business. I'd give it 0 stars but yelp makes me put at least one. read more

Stopped in today for our 3rd visit and figured it was time to rate and review. Like another reviewer I'm surprised at the many low reviews. I did notice one thing in common..the great majority seemed to have gripes with delivery . Folks your one two and three star ratings aren't Athens Pizza! As for the Pizza.. I'm a full blood Italian American born and raised in NJ. Their Pizza is hands down the best I've had in Athens...this after trying most and being a regular at another Pizza place also in the same area. Three bucks for a humongous slice with edge to edge pepperoni is the added bonus. Perfect combo of dough, cheese sauce and topping..all done right. Now to try some of their other dishes read more

This is by far the best pizza place in Athens. I say this for a few reasons. Not only is the pizza delicious, homemade, and priced well, but the service is unbeatable. The employees are very kind and for me, friendly and fast service is very important. I once ordered their chicken and ranch pizza and it was made and delivered so quickly! I was impressed! Definitely give this place a try if you're in Athens. You won't regret it! read more

A friendly environment, I was looking for sub so I looked them up online, there Italian sub caught my eye so I stopped in one day & ordered it, it was really good meat was fresh and so we're the toppings & it was well worth the price, the only down fall I requested oil & vinegar I was told it comes with Italian dressing on it which wasn't bad, over all I would recommend Athens pizza read more

Very tasty and affordable pizza. We ordered through a phone call, and it was made in a reasonable amount of time. It had that local restaurant vibe, and it was a little small, but the pizzas more than makes up for it read more

My favorite pizza restaurant in Atlanta. Always comes loaded with toppings. Excellent pricing as well.

Okay so. We have been here 4 times and all 4 times the food was delicious, but today.. Today wasn't even close to delicious.. The pizza we ordered had some soty of liquid running on it, and it wasn't cooked properly. The sub was okay. It was a little better than the pizza. Overall this establishment has pretty good food. read more

Darn good pizza. I'm a pizza aficionado who knows all the pizza places in town. Great pizza, quick service, and, most importantly, there is ample parking. Cool outdoor dining spot too. read more

I'm really surprised about all the low reviews for this restaurant. I ordered three different kinds of pizza and they were all amazing. I got the Athenian, Primavera, and Chicken Pesto Pizza and was super pleased with all of them. The pesto especially was not skimped on and was VERY flavorful. I ended up getting all extra large pizzas and they were huge--with slices being about Costco sized. I ate about 3.5 slices and was very full and each extra large pizza has 10 slices. Definitely going to be going back to try different pizzas. read more

We live in Five Points and this is right down the street. They are very fast (even on Friday nights), and we've really enjoyed all of the different pizzas that we've gotten! read more

Although Athens Pizza has been a staple in the area for years, we haven't been until tonight. We tried their new location and had a delicious meal of pizza , salad, and a calzone. We chose to eat in. We saw lots of pizza leave as To-Go orders. Our meal was yummy and the service was fast and very pleasant guys working the counter. We will definitely be back. read more

Took a very long time. The app said it would be done by a certain time, I came to the shop after that time to pickup, and still had to wait. I even left to go back home and came back and the order still wasn't ready! The food was good though. If they had been more timely, I would've given a higher rating. read more

We ordered a couple of calzones at the counter and were told the order would be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. After 25 minutes we asked about the order. The woman at the counter forgot to give it to the cook. She said it would be 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later we got our order. No apology. No compensation. Nada. Bad business ethic. With so many good pizza places in Athens -- including Bulldawg Pizza right across the street -- we won't be back to this one. read more

Great new Athens restaurant! Our pizza had delicious flavor with plenty of topping. We got the late night special (1 topping large pizza) with ham. They have a clean restaurant with great service. Plenty of good deals and you can order online. read more

Poor service, don't answer phone. Can't find orders and lie about where it's at. 2.5 hours and waiting. Was told no refund available.

Took forever for the food to get out and once it did it tasted like microwaved cardboard.

Good service, however I went here thinking it would be New York style, but come to find out this pizza is just a step below Little Caesars.

I made a delivery order. The expected time is 1 hour. However, I got my order after more than 2 hours. Edit: also the delivery guy showed me a receipt with an amout that is more than it should be because they added the tip twice. I had to wait on the door for 10 minutes so he can make a call and fix it. Sure I would like a refund because I don't think I'm gonna oder from your restaurant again. read more

Just ordered and both pizzas were incorrect and they forgot my drink. The The Volcano Pizza had no blue cheese dressing, my daughters cheese pizza had no parm, and the driver didn't have my drink. Every single part of my order was messed up. Would have emailed them this and my receipt but I can't even find their email. read more

I decided to give this place a try after reading favorable reviews and I was not disappointed-- their pizza was 10x better than any chain pizza and on par with gourmet pizzas costing more These guys put out an honest pizza, with authentic sauce, real cheese, and near perfect crust, and ya don't have to spend a million bucks-- this is the best pizza I've had in Athens in years read more

Love the pizza at ATHENS pizza. We always get a sausage and an eggplant large pizza an pick up between11-6 to get the 6.99 large pizza price. The eggplant is a 2$ topping so the total is 16.88. Not only is this a great price the taste is great. Crust is medium thickness but clearly all ingredients are fresh. read more

Delicious pizza! My wife and I moved to the Classic City months ago and have been on the hunt for the perfect pizza in town. There are other contenders, but Athens Pizza was the best we've tried so far! Crisp dough, great cheese, and not shy with the toppings. We also got 6 lemon pepper wings which were crisp and juicy and great as well. We definitely plan to order again! read more

Close by and great prices! Was hesitant about trying the chicken fettuccine Alfredo but it's honestly one of the best I've had here in athens. The salad is great too! read more

If I could give them a zero I would! Called a week ahead for a catering order for 50 people. Came by the store on the day of the event to confirm and when I came to pick it up they were clueless! Absolutely worst experience you could possibly have! No excuses! Horrible, horrible, horrible. Can convey how angry I am over their gross, ignorant incompetence! Just sheer stupidity! Do yourself and avoid this place like the plague! Worst place For in Athens, no pun intended!!!! Still waiting over 40 minutes late! read more

I got their chocolate cake and it was very disappointing. Didn't expect too much but it was pretty much frozen, 3/4 mousse and icing and only a small part of it was cake. And it was overpriced for such a small piece. read more

Staff was really nice, food was great and they even delivered early. I would eat here again.

The best pizza! Nice thick, seasoned crust that reheats really well if you can't finish it, but you will- it's delicious. The cheese and sauce were also better than take out chains. Good prices, too! read more

Best value in Athens,GA I love the fact that they use Beef pepperoni instead of the normal pork that everyone else uses.
