This is by far the best pizza place in Athens. I say this for a few reasons. Not only is the pizza delicious, homemade, and priced well, but the service is unbeatable. The employees are very kind and for me, friendly and fast service is very important. I once ordered their chicken and ranch pizza and it was made and delivered so quickly! I was impressed! Athens Pizza is a bit of an Athens mainstay. Good pizza and decent prices; what's not to love? Well, their take-out, for one. Of the three times I've ordered takeout from Athens pizza they've managed to mess it up twice, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. This time was particularly irritating. We enter the restaurant and our pizza, which was supposed to be ready, was accidentally given to another customer. Obviously that's a fairly serious mistake in the restaurant industry, except that the guy behind the counter made it seem like it was just another Tuesday. Lackluster apology, no regret whatsoever. We ended up sitting and waiting for 15 minutes as they made us a new one, and then another man came out and gave it to us with, yet again, no apology, "sorry," or anything. So I was in Athens for the day and being the pizzaholic that I am I decided to give this place a try . The place isn't much to look at inside . I ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza and an order of chicken parmigiana to go. The menu on the counters prices seemed very low to me . My total came to $20 and some change and a $2 tip.I waited for a bit and the guy came out and gave me a small pizza box and bag with parm. I thought he had given me a personal pizza instead of the large and thought well maybe that's why it was so cheap. Well I was in a hurry so I got back and opened it and it was a single slice of pizza . So it cost me $20 for a slice and a chicken parm which said $8.95 on their menu in store and $10.95 online so looks like their slices are about $8-11 each. The food was ok. Probably won't be back though . Didn't bother going back to argue over a few bucks but still just doesn't sit right with me. read more

One star for ambiance - this is definitely a take-out place! However, as our 1st visit, we dined in. Sparse furnishings - we asked for salt and pepper - they had to get them from the kitchen. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer - standard institutional heavy breaded rings. Now, where this place shines is the pizza! We ordered the delux, crust not too thin, not too thick, and great texture. All ingredients tasted fresh. The sauce was delicious and the vegetables and meats were just right! Worst food experience I've ever had. I went to pick up my food and the guy working there was so rude for no reason. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and I got cheese. When I got back to eat my food the food tasted absolutely terrible. You couldn't pay me to eat there again. Literally any other pizza place in Athens is better this one and it's not even close. Stopped in today for our 3rd visit and figured it was time to rate and review. Like another reviewer I'm surprised at the many low reviews. I did notice one thing in common..the great majority seemed to have gripes with delivery . Folks your one two and three star ratings aren't Athens Pizza! As for the Pizza.. I'm a full blood Italian American born and raised in NJ. Their Pizza is hands down the best I've had in Athens...this after trying most and being a regular at another Pizza place also in the same area. Okay so. We have been here 4 times and all 4 times the food was delicious, but today.. Today wasn't even close to delicious.. I'm really surprised about all the low reviews for this restaurant. I ordered three different kinds of pizza and they were all amazing. I got the Athenian, Primavera, and Chicken Pesto Pizza and was super pleased with all of them. The pesto especially was not skimped on and was VERY flavorful. I ended up getting all extra large pizzas and they were huge--with slices being about Costco sized. I ate about 3.5 slices and was very full and each extra large pizza has 10 slices. I made a delivery order. The expected time is 1 hour. However, I got my order after more than 2 hours. Edit: also the delivery guy showed me a receipt with an amout that is more than it should be because they added the tip twice. Love the pizza at ATHENS pizza. We always get a sausage and an eggplant large pizza an pick up between11-6 to get the 6.99 large pizza price. The eggplant is a 2$ topping so the total is 16.88.
