A body shop mechanic met me, went over everything he would do, and soon the Geico rep joined us, making sure I had every question answered. The body shop mechanic went around my car and noted every possible scratch and tiny dent. He was far more thorough than a car rental company! The car was ready when they promised, and it looks fantastic. I had an emailed estimate within a couple of hours, and the shop texted and emailed me during the process and when my car was ready. I had two estimates from other body shops in Frederick, and both were hundreds of dollars higher than Zamora. Perhaps that was because I asked for a self-paying estimate.

Picked up the car today and the paint had some specs in it, and they said they would wet sand it to get the specs out while I waited. It didn't work. Eric Zamora offered me $50 or $100 discount so he wouldn't have to paint the whole door again. He said the paint had a "Lifetime" guarantee. I said that's fine, I would pay the full amount. Drove the car home and then noticed that the passenger side side view mirror was melted. Literally the paint and plastic was melted.....!!!! So I called them and drove all the way back to the shop and Eric was already gone for the day, but his worker said that they looked at a picture from the front of the car and said they could see a shadow showing that the sideview mirror looked "wavey" Bull crap!!! He said they took the mirror and the door off the front passenger side to do work on the rear passenger side, and that they only put the sideview mirror in the car and that it couldn't have gotten damaged.... I said there is NO WAY that my sideview mirror could get MELTED on the top of it while it was on my car. The plastic and paint are literally melted!!! Car is in great condition except the door that had to be repaired. Now they are saying that the MELTED sideview mirror must have already been like that. No pictures of the sideview mirror damage prior to doing the work. They melted the sideview mirror at the shop. Don't know how or who, but it wasn't melted when I dropped it off....... Every place I have ever been too takes detailed pictures of a car to make sure that this exact thing doesn't happen!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. BEWARE. Dishonest. Go somewhere else.....

Unlike other times I have used AAA for towing requests, the business who would be assigned to come to tow me would call, their tower would identify who he was, where he was coming from, and how long it would be before he arrived. The 40 West guy never called to let me know he was on his way, where he was coming from, or how soon it would be before he would arrive. All he brought was attitude. I had borrowed a car from a family member and was at the location within 10 minutes (if not less) after calling AAA ... AAA told me the tow truck would be at the location within 30 minutes -- maybe that is their standard estimated time they use when a tow is requested or maybe the girl I spoke to did not know the correct protocol? I don't know. When I arrived at the facility that had my car, the tow truck was already there. I went inside to pay my bill and get my car key. I was warned by the employee at the location that the 40 West driver appeared to be upset because I was not there when he arrived. I walked out to his truck and apologized for him having to wait and his reply was a smug "whatever" with a shrug of his shoulders. His attitude only went downhill after that. He wanted to know what was wrong with my car and if payment was going to be by cash. I explained my car problem (not that he needed to know) and why I needed it re-towed and I would pay with a credit card. He shrugged again and he added "I was told you were paying with cash." I felt the need to ask if paying with a credit card was going to be an issue. He replied, "No" and what cards he would accept, but his attitude spoke louder than words. He proceeded to move his truck (roll back) and positioned it behind my car. As he backed my car onto the roll back and worked to secure it, another person from the facility where I had my car, came out to quickly speak to me. While I was busy talking with him, the 40 West driver got into the truck and simply left without me. I had no idea where he had gone or which route he took. I quickly got into my borrowed car and drove quickly to the garage where my car was to go, hoping he would be there. Upon arrival, he was there along with his attitude. Other unfortunate issues took place once at the garage (additional charges for mileage that had to be explained and settled), but his attitude and rudeness did not wane toward me or toward the receptionist at the garage. To say he was very unprofessional is an understatement. I have never used 40 West in the past (they were not my choice, but assigned through AAA), and after this experience, it is highly unlikely that I would recommend them. I was already upset about my car having an issue where it had to be re-towed, but to have this guy show up with a MAJOR attitude that continued through the entire time I had to deal with him, did not set well with me, hence the need to post this review.

The staff were more than happy to answer my questions, were courteous, and happily rescheduled my appointment twice. Upon arriving, the showroom was clean and the staff welcoming. While waiting for my wife to pick me up I overheard one of the staff politely explaining how the techs attempted to troubleshoot a bad cylinder; he didn't talk down to the customer, didn't use any shop jargon, and was very professional. I dropped my car off at 10am and received a call that my car was ready about 2 hours later. Easy drop-off and pick-up. Their tire prices are in the same neighborhood as some of the chain shops. Having taken a previous car to a chain shop only to be disappointed I chose to support a local business and I'm very happy I did! Based on my experience I'll certainly recommend South Side Tire & Auto my friends and family.

Second, please believe me when I say that these guys are SUPERSTARS! Not only did Jack find me a great deal on tires (one with a rebate!), but he and his sons addressed several issues (ones that I already knew existed) that needed serious attention. To say that they went above and WAAAAAY beyond to make sure my car was fixed that day is so far understated...they even stayed late to fix these issues! There were parts they did not have in stock and Jack sent one of his sons out several times to different locations to pick up parts needed. I mean, the time, effort, and care they gave my car was amazing! Jack apologized a couple of times that it was taking longer than expected, but they were short-staffed - basically, it was just him and one son doing the mechanics, while the other son was running around town to get parts, but what a team. And, the best part, my car...my 15 year old Corolla, ran like new! She had so much pep and ran smoother than she has in years! Thank you Jack and sons! You guys are worth your weight in giant gold bullion and all five stars!

I took my car here for paint work after somebody sideswiped my parked car in a lot. I had taken my…read moremother's car here before and they did a stellar job on hers. So I assumed mine would be the same. I was not as impressed with the job that they did on my vehicle. For starters, when I originally went in for an estimate, I got a ballpark estimate (I told them I would not hold them to the eyeball estimate they gave me in the parking lot) of around $500-600 and that it was about a 3-day job. I was under the impression by what I was told that they had to remove the bumper and paint the entire thing to get it to match the vehicle since the pant transfer and scratches covered part of the bumper and the front fender. I also received an estimate for my insurance company from another autobody shop, and I also got the impression from them that the bumper would be removed and fully painted. I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday, fully expecting that they would be finished by Friday or so. I waited until Monday to call them. It was at that time that I learned that the vehicle sat for three days and wasn't even assigned to a painter until Friday! I was told that a manager would call me that evening and explain to me why there was a mixup. I never got that call. I called back on Tuesday to explain to them that nobody contacted me on Monday evening. They eventually found a manager to talk to me and they profusely apologized and explained that they would get my vehicle done probably by Wednesday evening. Wednesday morning I got a call advising me that the job was done. I was kind of surprised because I expected it might take them a little bit longer. I wasn't as pressed about getting the vehicle back as I was making sure it was done correctly. So if they had to keep it for a week, I would've been fine with that as long as it was done right. When I arrived at the shop and looked over the paint job, I was not entirely impressed. There were what look like several dings from rocks, and there was even a smudge in the clearcoat, and there was also a line that looked like maybe the metal flake had flipped. When I addressed all of this with them, they pulled it into the shop to have the painter look at it. At that point, the vehicle died. They had to jumpstart it because apparently it sat for three days and I don't know if the lights were left on, or something like that. They cleaned up the front end and showed it to the painter who apparently thought it looked pretty good. When they pulled the vehicle out, the manager came out and discussed with me that my insurance company didn't pay to have the entire bumper painted, but only to have the paint blended in with the fender to match up. I was very shocked to say the least because the check from the insurance company and my deductible combined was approximately $900. I know that's not a lot of money when it comes to body work nowadays, but I would think it would cover the cost of removing the bumper, prepping it, shooting it, and covering it with clearcoat. There was absolutely no body damage anywhere on the car. It was merely a paint job. And I figured with the supplies and the amount of time that they spent painting it, it wouldn't come to $900, especially when I was told it was roughly a $500-600 job and the fact that they didn't even paint the whole thing! The paint work itself was decent, and they are all very nice people working there. But I don't know that I would take my vehicle there again. I was a little disappointed with what actually occurred compared to what I thought was going to happen. Maybe that was my misunderstanding, but I don't believe so.

From Someone Who Truly Cares About Their Car: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!…read more I brought my car here for repairs after an accident, and the experience was absolutely horrible. First visit: They sent my car back with a dented door--despite alleging that they ordered a "new" door--and it didn't even align properly with the rest of the car. The window wouldn't roll all the way up. Yet this passed their quality control and they thought it was acceptable to return it in that condition. Second visit: The door wouldn't close fully unless SLAMMED shut. They scratched the window tint and hid that fact from me. My rear bumper was also scratched during removal. I waited days for their "specialist" to touch it up--only to find out it was the equivalent to someone using a paint pen from Advance Auto. The paint didn't match or blend at all. Also, the door lock mechanism was never reconnected. Third visit: They failed to hook up the side mirror sensor that alerts you when someone's beside your car. The door trim was improperly installed, leaving fabric edges exposed and causing water leaks inside. The fender and doors still don't align, and the window makes a worrying clanking noise when it hits the bottom--a terrible sound with expensive glass. I also told them that the trim was not properly installed on the bottom of the door, and it was returned to me the exact same way. Despite a verbal agreement to cover the cost of the scratched tint, they never followed through or responded to my inquiries. On top of everything, they never cleaned the interior--all three times, the car was covered in dust. Every other body shop I've been to at least blows the dust out before returning the vehicle. I reached out twice via email seeking resolution and never received a response. I have videos showing how badly the trim was replaced the the window sound (it won't let me upload them).

The entire team is dedicated to safety and treats your vehicle with that in mind. I have confidence in the mechanics as they are knowledgeable and capable. The office staff takes the time to listen, access your needs, and walk you through what is available (cost and time). There is never any pressure and my experiences have always been positive. And to boot, they do work that no one else would touch. For me, that included a complete rebuild of my 2006 transmission in 2024 in their shop. Yes it was costly but it was not a remanufactured tranny and extended the life of my car. If the engine goes, I'll likely return for an engine rebuild rather than a remanufactured engine. On another day, some basic work that should be simple and easy they seem capable of completely missing the mark. Couple this with their reliance on Metro Motor.com and their BG maintenance recommendations and you have what feels like a very hard sell to get your money. The BG recommendations are like a laundry list of what you MIGHT do to your auto if you had unlimited funds and just wanted to spend freely. There seems to be no rnyme or reason to the recommendations either in milage or elapased time. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying premiusm prices (which Ken's is) for premium work. That's the issue. I feel like it's sometimes worth it and other times not. I've reached the consclusion that they will get my more difficult jobs but routine maintenance will be handled elsewhere. I wonder if over time they have changed ownership or have new sales incentives in place. It's a shame. I really want them to be like The Car Talk guys from Boston and only do what's right.
