Long term customer of this business. Or should I say former customer. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars here, and have dealt with Kenny and Jeff for years. I always considered them a shop who stood by their work, and honored their quotes. I never thought they'd be the type to commit funny business. On 6/21/2021, I followed the same procedure I always have, and called them for a quote before sending a company vehicle in for service. Kelly quoted me for a 2016 Silverado 2500 transmission fluid drain and filter change. Estimate was $200.00 - $250.00 in labor, and around $100.00 for parts. Should be right around $300.00 to $350.00 right? I then checked in with other shops we work with. South Side wasn't the cheapest quote I got, but I ended up choosing to bring it to them based on: 1) our prior work relationship and 2) the quote being about $100.00 cheaper than the local Chevrolet dealership. Now, imagine my shock when my worker brings back a receipt for $590.89. Nearly double the quoted amount! $351.92 of this was just in labor - and mind you - they had the truck for just 2 hours - from 2:30 PM to 4:31 PM (Closing Time). $175.00 in hourly labor for fluids work? When I called to ask about the bill, both Kelly and Kenny blew me off and pretended I didn't know what I was talking about. We have 10 company vehicles, 11 years in business, and a large annual maintenance budget. I'm not a mechanic, but I know enough to tell when something wasn't right. It's even easier to spot something not being right when I had the exact same service done, on this exact same truck, 45,000 miles previously. For about $350.00. Further, this isn't close to the first time I've had billing issues with this business. On three separate occasions, I've had to call and have funds credited back due to misbills on tire repairs (charging for 5 tires instead of 4, charging for 7 tires repaired instead of 4 tires, etc). I always chocked this up to harmless mistakes. Now I'm wondering if my judgement was just wrong this whole time. Moral of the story: consider picking a different shop. If they are willing to treat long-term customers as poorly as they did me, I have no doubts they are willing to do more to a small time one. read more

Charged 2 hours of diagnostic labor for a stuck hood latch which does not take 2 hours. They were unable to repair the vehicle but still charged me full price. I was better off not using their service at all. The next suggestion was to drill holes in the vehicle. I declined that and took my vehicle to another shop. Now, I am out $152 for nothing. The owner Jeff and manager Ron were unwilling to reduce charges. Most reputable garages do not charge you full price if they can not fix your vehicle. I recently purchased four new tires and an alignment. I was referred to South Side Tire & Auto by a buddy and was very happy with my experience. The staff were more than happy to answer my questions, were courteous, and happily rescheduled my appointment twice. Upon arriving, the showroom was clean and the staff welcoming. While waiting for my wife to pick me up I overheard one of the staff politely explaining how the techs attempted to troubleshoot a bad cylinder; he didn't talk down to the customer, didn't use any shop jargon, and was very professional. I dropped my car off at 10am and received a call that my car was ready about 2 hours later. Easy drop-off and pick-up. Their tire prices are in the same neighborhood as some of the chain shops. Having taken a previous car to a chain shop only to be disappointed I chose to support a local business and I'm very happy I did! Based on my experience I'll certainly recommend South Side Tire & Auto my friends and family. read more

I had planned on taking my car in to South Side Tire & Auto the morning of 6 January, but my car wouldn't start. My day and new year seemed to be getting off to a bad start. My boyfriend came to the rescue and made sure I made it to South Side Tire & Auto. When I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by warm smiles and hellos. Everyone was friendly! The atmosphere was relaxed and very comfortable. The waiting area made me feel like I was at home and it also had an old fashioned popcorn machine. South Side really gained points with me because I love popcorn! Ashley was at the front desk and took my information. She kept me informed on the progress of my car from start to finish. She gave exceptional service. I would definitely recommend South Side Tire & Auto to family and friends and visit this establishment again in the future. read more

So had oil serviced by a different shop. One that I trust. And after having my oil changed by Southside all I can say is WTFFFFFFF. My regular guy said the oil that came out turned his hand yellow. It was the cheapest oil he'd EVER seen. EVER!!! WE ASKED SOUTHSIDE FOR SYNTHETIC AND PAID over $100 for that oil change and over a $1000 for service we are now finding out was absolutely worth a roll of duck tape. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I use to trust these guys. We were refered here over 8+ years ago ... what has happened over the years is sketchy and untrustworthy. I'd almost say FRAUDULENT .... I wouldn't recommend this business and would tell everyone to NEVER TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY!!! If you want someone to trust and you can go to Hagerstown PM me and I'll give you a shop that won't screw you and isn't shady. They also won't do work you don't need. I called to get a quote on a transmission and coolant drain and fill and to replace my spark plugs for my Mazda 6. I initially spoke to Kelly who quoted me $1200 but couldn't guarantee the price. She asked me to come to the shop for an accurate price. I told her I could not, but I am more then happy to give my VIN to get an accurate price. Kelly refused so I asked to speak to a manager at which point she hung up. I called again and spoke to Kenny the service manager. He quoted me $4,000 for the same service because I could not bring the car into the shop. Kenny also was vague as to whether he would charge me to give me a quote. I understand that they need to be paid for a service performed, but there's a huge discrepancy in their price. Also, their customer service sucks!!! They were unwilling to give me a price over the phone for the service. Why? Kenny told me to bring the car in the shop and then he will tell me what I need done. I told him that I already know what I need done and I need a price. That is when Kenny quoted me $4000. ridiculous!!! read more

Had a travel trailer inspected by them. First time using it after about 30 miles, one of the wheels fell off. Had it checked & repaired by local mechanic near where it broke down. He said wheel bearing was destroyed and one other was bad and all four wheels needed brake shoes. Sent them email saying I wasn't gonna make a big deal out of it but they needed to know about it so they could talk to their mechanic. As of this date they haven't even answered my email. read more

Bought set of Michelins for my Infiniti several months ago. Thought I would support locall9 business versus Costco. At time of sale all kinds of promises...to date none delivered. Understanding very busy asked for rotation. Too busy...doesn't matter if you are a prior customer. Costco has made tires a commodity. Local service is the only difference that a Southside can offer. Not today...back too Costco for all future tire purchases. read more

Out of town and taken advantage of I was told yesterday the bill would be around 100$ and take around an hour to drill out a stud because my lug nut had sheared off partially. Today they had my van for little over half hour and cut off bolt instead of drilled the whole thing out and charged me 188$! For little more then half hour even pulling it in and out and writing up the bill. I asked what the hourly rate was and the lady said "it varies " "he said he told you 200" I said no he said 100 and it'd take about an hour and it's been less and now my bill is almost 200!?! He wouldn't say anything, wouldn't even look over my way knowing he lied and took advantage of me because I'm from out of state So if you're local, fine , but who's hourly rate varies? From 100 to almost 200 for half that? I wish I could show a picture of my bill. It says from 3:00pm to when she printed the bill 3:42 pm and labor was $188. Something tax and all! If he would have said 200 yesterday I would have looked elsewhere, they are taking advantage of out of state people read more

I was recommended this place by my dad, who said they are really nice people and he trusted them to do a good job, which can be hard to find sometimes. I was told by the dealership that my car needed new tires and brakes a couple months ago, and I was hesitant to take it somewhere and spend and arm and a leg for work to be done. They gave me quotes on prices and I was able to get all 4 tires done plus other service at once and it did not take all day. Not only was it not as expensive as I was expecting, South Side refused to change my front brakes because it was unethical to take my money for something I didn't need done. I can trust them completely, and that just proved to me how much they care about their customers and what they're doing. They also have an awesome deal on a lifetime oil change package that is definitely worth it. I will recommend them to anyone. read more

Bought tires for a commercial vehicle, knowing the warranty restrictions on commercial vehicles I inquired as to the type of commercial warranty available for the tires. Salesman assured me that tires were completely covered by manufacturer warranty, same as a non commercial warranty. A short period of time elapsed and sure enough one of the tires began to peel apart going down highway. Luckily there was a shop nearby and the nice gentleman at that particular shop swapped my failing tire out with my spare. He encouraged me to go back where I bought the tires and show them what has occurred, I did. A salesman at Southside Auto and tire looked at my tires and explained to me that they're were extremely "cheap tires", I reiterated with the salesman that I bought the tires there, he said " yeah" , I asked about the warranty and he said the tires are not covered because it's a commercial vehicle , I explained that the previous salesman said they would be covered, again the most recent salesman said they were not covered, I asked to speak to a manager, he politely walked me into their shop to see the "manager". I explained the situation and he went to a computer to look up info and his response was that the salesman who sold me the tires had a habit of lying and no longer worked there, my response was" if you knew he was lying why didn't you stop him or fire him right away", the manager said" he sold a lot of tires". Ended up going to another tire shop, tire was replaced and upon inspection of the other tires it was evident that they to were prematurely failing, ended up having all four tires replaced. I do not recommend Southside Tire and Auto. I would also like to clarify that the "commercial vehicle " was an average size vehicle, the only difference was that it had lettering, with this being said I wonder how many non commercial vehicles had the same issue with the same tires. read more

Do not buy tires from this place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My tires are 1 years old and wore out. They do not know how to align tires there for my new tires are trashed. Try Mr. Tire they are great know what they are doing and have great prices. The customer service here sucks and they don't back tire warranty. read more
