I brought my 65 Mustang GT to AHP to have them look over the engine and help set a restoration plan in motion. Step one was to deal with carburetor problems which was easily solved with a new Edelbrock carb and manifold which they installed. It ran great when I picked it up and I was super pleased with their work. The next day when I tried to drive the car, I noticed it was having a hard time shifting into second and third gears. I suspected a vacuum leak and checked the connection to the manifold to find it was solid and secure. I called Rick to ask for advice and he said to bring it in which I did. He found the problem was the rubber hose from the steel tube to the vacuum module in the transmission had burst. He replaced it and had me on the road in about 30 minutes. Rick and Alex are top notch guys that know cars and go the extra mile for the customers. All the guys in the garage are great at what they do and seem to take great pride in their work. I would definitely recommend American High Performance for anyone looking to enhance their ride or to bring it back to factory specs.

How many 5 Star mechanics do you see on Yelp? I had to check these guys out. My 100 Series Toyota…read moreLand Cruiser had a leak in the AC system (front and rear units), as well as a clunking sound when put in gear, shifting (sometimes), as well as accelerating on flat roads. First mechanic I went to had the car for 2 days and only greased the transfer case. And he wouldn't even work on the AC because the Land Cruiser is 23 years old and and that unit HVAC system was extremely complicated. Eric from Premier Auto detected the problem immediately and gave me an estimate. Now, the AC system is running ice cold and the front axle replacements completely fixed the clunking; it's buttery smooth as it should be. It was done in like 3 days; amazing turn around time. Are they the cheapest? No, but they are competitive. The better question would be, "Are they honest, qualified, and professional? Am I getting VALUE for my money?" I am happy to say yes to all four. For me as a husband and father, my family's safety is my #1 priority. I now have a trusted mechanic for our vehicles at Premier Auto. 10/10 absolutely recommend.

The pricing is worth the level of assurance I received, especially with the warranty and follow-up. I needed my vehicle turned around quickly, and they accommodated my timeline without cutting corners. What stood out most was that I never felt pressured at any point. Instead, they went out of their way in a respectful and professional manner to earn my business. As someone who usually wants a second opinion, I appreciated how they clearly explained what needed to be done, why, and showed proof of the work. They delivered exactly what I needed and got my vehicle back to me on time. I'll gladly continue to bring my business here moving forward.

The staff was incredibly attentive, honest, and welcoming from the start. Even though it's a smaller shop, they have a comfortable waiting area with free coffee, snacks, and water, which was a really nice touch. They took care of my oil change and filter without an appointment and finished in less than an hour and a half. What really stood out to me was their honesty and generosity -- they even told me my next oil change would be free, which I've never experienced before. I've been to dealerships and many other auto service places around the Washington area over the past 20 years, and I can truly say this level of service is rare. This was my first visit, but based on this experience, they've earned my five stars. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend them!

I left my previous mechanic because of this constant attempting to overcharge me. I was so happy when I found Merv's. I thought they did good work and were honest. I was wrong. I brought my car to Merv's for service. I provided my own materials. My bill should have been around $30-$40. I was shocked when I looked at my bill. It was more than double what it should have been. I asked why it was so much. Merv, who was sitting in the front office began to squirm and told me it was because a wheel balance and tire rotation was performed. I immediately asked if it had actually been performed. I did not request that to be done. Rather than correct the invoice, Merv asked me if I wanted a credit. Really? You overcharge a customer and then ask if they want a credit. I was told that I had already received a discount because I provided my own materials. So, to recap, buying my own parts and not allowing a shop to overcharge me for materials is considered a discount. That's interesting....what Merv calls a discount is called fraud under Virginia state law. Buyer beware. The attempted gouge was far more expensive to Merv than he imagined. You have been warned.

When I got the car back after $5500 worth of work, it didn't seem to be running quite right. I gave it a little bit and then started noticing an oil leak. I brought it back in and they reluctantly agreed to keep it to look it over. I didn't get a call back so they next day I called them and they told me "oh, we found a slipped seal so we fixed it, nothing we did wrong". Ok, cool. But my car was still not acting right and felt like it wasn't getting enough gas or power at first start up. It literally stalled on me twice when I first started it shifting into park. . I brought it back again and after convincing them to take a look at it, they told me nothing was wrong with the vehicle. They basically told me that looking over it would be a waste of their time and that the computer system takes a little while to catch up once "that much work" is done on a vehicle. Ok. Well, I guess I feel after that extensive of engine work, it should not be stalling out on me without explanation. So no, I will not be going back and will not recommend this place. How disappointing.
