We dropped off some dry cleaning late afternoon in a particularly hot day. The owner was actually already closed but restarted her system just to accommodate us. She was so kind and working so hard and the clothes were in excellent condition upon pickup for a reasonable price. Thank you! read more

After searching for a local dry cleaner in the area a friend had recommended this spot. I can't say enough great things about the service, turnaround time and quality. The woman who runs the place is one of the friendliest people in JP! The cost is very affordable, especially for someone who has to go on a biweekly basis. The hours also offer time pre and post work to pick up and drop-off. read more

The person who runs this place is genuinely one of the nicest people ever and this is a fantastic place to go get your dry cleaning done!!

I've been a customer for years and love this place! The owner is so sweet and always gets clothes back quickly. Highly recommend!

I bought two sports jackets here to be dry cleaned and they did a fantastic job. The owner is really kind and charges a reasonable price.

I am so happy to have found a dry cleaners that is literally a 4 minute walk from my apartment, it couldn't be any more convenient. The owner Ana, is a SWEETHEART! When I found out Ana is from El Salvador I took some time to get to know her. Like many small businesses owners, Ana's dry cleaner struggled during the pandemic. Lastly if your in need of a hem job this is also the perfect spot to get it done! If you are seeking ways to support local and Hispanic owned businesses I encourage you to visit American Dry Cleaners. read more

This service is extraordinarily quick and great quality. My partner had 10 shirts dry cleaned and spent $20. It was ready within 1-2 days. As others have mentioned, Anna is so incredibly sweet. read more

I've been going to American Dry Cleaner for many years. Great prices for dry cleaning. Ana is friendly and helpful. I also recommend tailoring- I've gotten many items hemmed for a very reasonable price. read more

As others have noted, Anna is wonderful - she will brighten your day! In terms of the actual dry cleaning: Great services at minimum cost. High quality work with no-frills. Since it can't be emphasized enough, I'd like to reiterate the tremendously friendly and warm customer service. Strongly recommend American Dry Cleaner. read more

This dry cleaner/alterations place is so good and the owner so beloved we all pitched in to help her with her rent during covid. That tells you how good this place is! read more

The service is not only great, but also fast and affordable. Anna is really sweet. I had one of the best dry cleaning experience here at American Dry Cleaner read more

I will never come here again. They lost my favorite sweater. Lost it. Nowhere to be found. cleaning is not done on the premises and is part of a chain of 10 store distribution so good luck if they lose anything. read more

Quick, reasonably priced, very friendly, and good work. What more could you ask for? Wool coat dry cleaning- $13. Shirts dry cleaned- $1.75 Pants hemmed (girlfriend's)- $10.00 (which she says is a fair price) Wish I still lived so close to this place, they do a great job. read more

3 words: Quality, Cheap, Fast! After reading Yelp's review I've been here several times. I used to use my building's Holly Cleaner's delivery service until I'm so sick off the delay of their delivery and a big fat ridiculous bill I receive later. I got the following price from American Cleaner: Shirt (Dry clean and Starch): 1.75 (Holly cleaners charges 7.50, what??!!) Trousers: 4 Sport Jacket: 5 2 piece Long Suit: 9 Blouses: 4 I decided to post a great review because they did such an amazing job on my long white down jacket (with fur on the hood) for only 14 dollars! This is incredible because in the past now all dry cleaners can clean it so well. It is now completely spotless, including inside of the wrists, collar, and the lower hem, which was stained by my bleeding jeans. Last few times when I sent it to other dry cleaner I was charged by 45 dollars (crazy Holly Cleaner!) and it usually takes 3 weeks (ridiculously long). Here I got an unbelievable deal and it is ready in 2 days. The woman who runs the business is very friendly and helpful. One time I needed to send in my suits after work (right before they close) and pick up the next day; she was so nice to wait like extra 25 minutes for me to arrive from traffic hours and I got them back the next day as promised. Give them a try! You won't be disappointed! read more

If I were a shirt and I needed to be pressed, I would ask my owner to take me here. The are fast (overnight service is no problem) They are reasonably priced (They cleaned my suit coat for $5) They are friendly. They have Spanish language television playing. What more could you ask for? read more

Needed a gown cleaned by today and it was not done. Called this morning to check in and was told it would be there by 5. Called at 5 and it was not there and it was in Quincy (where apparently they send their cleaning to) and the place in Quincy is closed. I called them gentleman in Quincy and he said had I called earlier I could have gotten it in Quincy today. This was not relayed to me. I will now not be able to have my gown until the morning which is a huge issue. Will not be returning. Sadly the exchange at this business started on a good foot. Owner was nice and it was well priced. Explained my time crunch and she said that she could make it work. I do understand that it snowed and that caused some issues but this is not acceptable customer service and I am not being compensated for this major error. read more

This review is only about clothing alterations... I had a pair of suit pants hemmed here for $12. The lady who runs the place was friendly and had the pants done in four days I think? I have since worn them for three separate interviews and they were hemmed to perfection (length, quality, etc.). I will definitely return with future alterations! It's less than a five minute walk from my apartment, which makes it all the better! read more

I'm going with a two simply because I agree with the rating description "Meh. I've experienced better." The prices are reasonable -- not cheap (from my experience). And I've also experienced problems with some stains when I bring my shirts here. Sometimes they clean them up, sometimes they don't. My Main issue with this place is their pressing. I bring cloths to the dry cleaner for two reasons: 1.) stains, 2.) to get that stuff pressed so well the pleat will slice through butter. My last couple trips, the shirts I picked up were all wrinkled (not like ball on the floor wrinkled, but poorly hung on the hangar so there are lines on the shirt wrinkled). If I have to iron my shirt after I dry clean it, what's the point? read more

Bad job with alteration and bad service. I took a very nice pair of pants here to have the hem let out. When I got the pants back, the hems had been let out but the hemming was so tacky, there were a bunch of threads hanging that I had to cut off. Even worse, the crease of the original hem was still clearly there. They made NO attempt to press out the old crease. You would think that a place that does drycleaning would at least run the hem through a press. I mean a pair of pants that looked respectable before resembled badly treated sweat pants! I had to go home and break out my scissors, steamer, and iron. It was my mistake. I know I could have done a better job with hemming tape and my iron. "Live and learn." And the service here is poor. The young man who helped me when I went to pick up my pants barely said a word to me. The lady who works there wasn't any much nicer. Never going back there for anything. read more

The price for this place is quite good but the quality of the dry cleaning is not the best, particularly if you have any nasty stains that will require particular care. For example, if you have a white shirt with lipstick it is unlikely they will get the stain out. But if it's just a simply wash that you need this is the place to go. They do also the wash and fold service which is very convenient if you have no time to do your own laundry. The only problem is that at times the service may take days (once it took 4 days) to get your stuff back even though they advertise same day service. The last time I tried to do a laundry drop off I was told it would take a week to do the wash and fold service - what? So I just didn't leave my stuff and did my own laundry. The service is wonderful. They do simple alterations quite well, so for that I do recommend. read more

Great place! I've been super careful about going to dry cleaners because I know it can cost an arm and a leg. Imagine to my surprise that I found this place through Yelp. I went on a whim based on the great reviews it has, and it did not disappoint! The prices are very reasonable. I first came in with two scarves, a sweater, a blazer, and a coat, and all of that cost around $50. Just came back again recently with a two-piece suit for $11. It's also great that they accept credit cards ($10 minimum). The service is also fantastic. Super friendly and helpful. When I came in with my suit in the morning, the woman (I think she's the head honcho lol) asked me when I needed it. I asked when the earliest possible is, and she said that afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that they do same day service for no charge! Definitely a must-go for dry cleaning! read more

I like how the woman who works here remembers me. It could be that when I come in here I bring a monumental amount of dirty clothes, but it's still quite nice that she recognizes me, asks why my husband isn't helping me carry everything (I mean, it's usually A LOT of clothes). Anyway, my last trip I had 10 blazers, 10 sweaters, 3 pairs of pants, 3 dresses, 2 skirts, a blouse, and a scarf, and all of that was $169. I think that's a pretty reasonable price if I do say so for that amount of dry cleaning. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I haven't really had to test out their ability too much in that I haven't had massive stains or alterations, just large quantities. I will add to this if some magic happens. Also, wash/dry/fold service is good. I like that they use Tide. A dollar per pound is pretty average for the price, and everything is so fresh and folded neatly when you pick it up. Other services I've had clothes returned a little damp, but not with American. Highly recommend. read more

Ana, who I believe runs the business, may be the sweetest, hardest working woman in JP. She is almost always in the store during working hours and will remember who you are, even if you haven't stopped by in six months. The dry cleaning is reasonably price and pretty good - not fabulous - it hasn't gotten out all my stains, although sometimes I have a tall order. Ana also does alterations, as long as the tailoring is not too complicated. And the prices are excellent - she once recuffed my jeans for $5, which is normally $20 elsewhere. And she did a great job. read more

After reading Yelp! reviews, I thought I had finally found an affordable, quality tailor. Turns out, I need to keep looking. I took one pair of cotton dress pants to get hemmed in after I had washed and dried them, and tried them on in the dinky little "dressing room" (read: two curtains that you stand behind. I didn't really mind that though). The owner (most likely) and I talked about the right length, and she marked one pin on one pant leg and told me I could pick them in a few days. I picked them up, paid $10, went on my way. Got home, tried the pants on, and while they had been hemmed, they were a full two inches too long still. So, I took them back in with the first receipt, told her they were too long still. I had to ask to try them on in the dressing room again read more

$10 per dress. Great pricing and great customer service. 3 business days for my items which I think is standard and expected.

No-nonsense, simple, and humble place for my basic dry cleaning needs (i.e. blazers, business dresses, cashmere, slacks...etc). Prices are very reasonable and the service is great! Anna is such a sweet and caring woman. She makes every transaction personable. I've never had a problem with her or my clothing and sincerely hope her business thrives for many years to come. read more

This review is for alterations: I took a pair of jeans that needed to be shortened. My pants were done when I requested them...only 4 days. $10 for the alteration and to sew the original hem back on. Affordable and convenient! read more

My partner and I moved to JP four months ago, and the only thing I missed about my old South End neighborhood was my dry cleaner! Luckily, after reading a few reviews here, I took some clothes to American Dry Cleaner and they are FANTASTIC! Anna (the VERY nice woman who works at the counter everyday) is incredibly friendly and hard working, and does a great job with our dry cleaning and our 50 pounds of laundry we bring in now every other week. My only very small wish is that they offered a pick-up and delivery service in the winter, for a few extra dollars, but otherwise I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about American Dry Cleaner!! read more

We've been coming here for 7 months and up until today it's been great. Anna's always been very nice, and though they're a little pricey, I'm all for supporting a small business. Until today. I went in this afternoon to pick up my work jacket and Anna couldn't find it. She said to come back after 5. I got there at 615. She still could not find my jacket. Then she let me know that all clothes were sent out to their Quincy location and today they decided not to bring the clothes back. WTH??? You just decided we didn't need our dry cleaning? She let me know I could come tomorrow, but as my flight leaves at 8am that clearly wasn't going to work. So instead I ended up driving an hour and a half in traffic and the rain to their location to get my jacket. I did not get an apology, a "what can we do to help" a "what can we do to make this up to you" nada. Customer service clearly does not exist for American Dry Cleaners. We will never take our clothes here again and we will be letting everyone know to not come here. This was ridiculous and total bs. read more

This place is fantastic. The owner, Ana, is hard working, pays Impeccable attention to detail, and her prices are very affordable. Please support this local Jamaica Plain staple! read more

Great service! The lady is really nice! Brought in women and men suits and everything came back clean and in perfect condition.

Anna is an owner who is welcoming and hardworking Her prices are good! her service Is consistently remarkable and our clothes look wonderful We have been customers for almost three years And rarely disappointed Extremely bad weather or machinery problems are the only things that stop reliable service Buttons fixed and hemming done for reasonable prices She is mucho bueno. She is teaching me Spanish a few words at a time when I ask read more

I went here to get pants hemmed, and Anna exceeded my expectations in every way. First, my linen pants had really wide legs, so not easy to measure or hem. She took the time to pin them to the perfect length, and hemmed them beautifully. Second, you cannot beat the prices - a great value for a great job. Third, she's just nice and happy and pleasant. Could not ask for anything more! Highly recommend!! read more

I've been coming here for about a year for dry cleaning (usually just dress pants for work). The main woman who's normally there is always pleasant and friendly. But last week they went above and beyond. I had managed to rip out the hem on a pair of pants. I took them in to be cleaned and figured I'd deal with the hem later. Once I got them home, I realized they repaired the hem--no charge! I hadn't even mentioned it to them--they just fixed it without saying a word. Great service! read more

My stuff was generally clean and the cost was OK--I suppose? New in town, so I don't really know. They did an admirable job with a cassock (anteri) that was drenched in oil and covered in incense soot. I'm surprised the plant didn't go up in flames, really. But I had to pick down feathers out of my wool skirt after I brought it home, even though I didn't send any down garments. And I'm allergic to down, but whatever chemicals they use probably neutralized the dander, so I should be fine. Right? All things considered, I'll probably have to go back because no one has Yelped anything better in JP or Roslindale. (That's a call to action, children!) read more

Incredibly reasonable rates, very efficient, love that they take credit cards ($10 minimum). Never tried their alterations, can't speak to that, but good hours and yet another reason I love living in JP! read more

American is a great one-stop dry cleaners and tailor. Dry cleaning is always done on time, and the owner, Anna, is so nice and helpful and always has a smile on her face. I had a pair of pants hemmed at Newbury Tailoring (for $25!), then caught my heel in the cuff and ripped the hem out. Anna fixed them for only $8! Since then, I've had her hem all of my pants. I haven't had her do anything more complicated, but I'm going to ask her to take a thrift shop blazer in for me -- we'll see how it goes. My only other reservation is that the dry cleaning is not always thorough. I brought a shirt in with a bad grease stain, had her mark it with one of those little stickers, and it was still there when i picked it up. But it is still a lot of bang for your buck, and the friendliness and convenience far outweigh any blips in service that I've had. read more

Can't believe the prices here. It is as cheap as everyone says. Dropped off two weeks worth of shirts and slacks. Everything was done in two days and perfect! read more

I've been coming here for about a year. Anna, presumably, is extremely friendly. I once was trying to run in before they closed, and I saw her walking down the street, already having closed up shop. She opened up the shop again just so I could drop off my clothes, which was totally unnecessary. I've never had any issues with any cleaning or minor alterations. read more

I went to American Dry Cleaner based mostly on the reviews I found on Yelp. First visit was alright; got two or three pairs of pants hemmed and they were fine. The pricing was a bit more than I expected based on the reviews here (although I can't remember exactly how much I was charged; it was awhile ago). Also brought a dress to see if they could do a repair on the zipper, but she wouldn't do it because of the material - fair enough. My second experience was far worse. I sent my fiancee there to have the sleeves of his new wool coat taken up and to have a silk blouse of mine dry cleaned. When he picked up his coat, the alterations were really poorly done; visually uneven and all over the place. I think that was about $35. I couldn't believe how much they charged to dry clean my short-sleeved blouse though! It was $10, plus they added $5.00 for the reason "silk," which seemed a bit strange because unless there were extra layers or something, I've never been charged more for dry cleaning an item that is dry clean only, regardless of the material. I've had better luck at the place across from the Stop & Shop on Centre Street near Jackson Square. read more
