Update on review. They refunded the $178. They seem to be taking customer satisfaction seriously. Upgrading from 1 star to 3 stars. I have to still go back to Home Depot and return the door and stuff so its not fun. Original review begins here I was looking for a handyman for work around the house. Needed door on bathroom to be fixed and safe to be installed in the walls and sprinkler electrical system to be fixed. The manager came around and was very professional and told us he would get back with a quote. We received quote via email and scheduled the appointment. The handyman was scheduled to come in the morning but later changed to afternoon last minute. The handyman spent an hour on the door and did not get anything. He installed the safe but it was extremely shoddy and wobbly. We decided to go to Home Depot to get a door and materials since he could not fix door and I agreed to pay for the time. He took his measurements and we went to Home Depot and he picked out the door and wood material needed. We came back and then he said it is not the right size and he cannot cut the door. Then I said I would return the door and asked him to do the sprinkler work. He tried to do something and recommended that we change the entire sprinkler system. All in all - nothing to show and I ended up paying $178. Very shoddy work but a good person. I am not looking to hire good people and pay them to walk around my house, I could invite my friends for that. Definitely not worth recommending. read more

AMD to the rescue! I needed some sheet rocking and painting done before my new washer/dryer could be installed. Four, yes four, sheet rockers didn't keep their appointments for estimates or work. I called AMD. The office confirmed the appointment and Sergiy came out the next day. He provided a written estimate on time. Eugene showed up, on time. Eugene worked straight through the day, came back on another day to finish the painting. Absolutely no problems, excellent work, and completely dependable. AMD is the best!!! I originally found them on Yelp a few years ago and they were GREAT. I had saved their info and reached out again this week when I needed help with some projects around the house. At first they weren't available in my timeline (I needed immediate, in the next few days) so I hired someone else. That person never showed up and was super unprofessional! I emailed AMD explaining I STILL needed someone, and they were able to do NEXT DAY! FANTASTIC! Daniel was super courteous, polite and professional. So was the other guy a few years ago, so I think all their employees are fantastic in this way! Both men wore booties over their shoes as a courtesy in my house. Daniel wore his mask the ENTIRE time he was in my house (I also kept all the windows open) and was totally cool about my desire to be outside of the house while he was working, for extra covid safety (I was still available by phone). Daniel helped me hang up some hooks, repair and replace toilet seats, assemble and hang a bathroom cabinet, a towel rack, and remove old and install a NEW microwave- which he went to the store and picked up for me. Originally he quoted he thought everything would take about two hours, but we didn't know the microwave would need replacing, and other things came up (as they do) and he was here 6 hours!! I'm so grateful to him for his hard work (2 over the range microwaves are HEAVY!!!), especially when he wasn't anticipating being here so long. He was always so nice and very polite and a pleasure to work with. He asked for a broom after everything and cleaned up after himself which I thought was such a nice touch and was very appreciated since I have a baby. Thanks to him my house is now in great shape and ready to review our first vaccinated guests! I was also able to pay by PayPal which was super convenient. And between a layoff and college-from-home, we were on a very tight budget for time and money. Alex and Daniel and their crew came through. Three weeks after I called them, we're working (and interviewing) out of the new office space. Our job involved framing a new partition wall, framing and installing a ceiling, lights and outlets. These guys are great for handyman work. That means you need to keep up with what you want done with respect to permitting etc., but they are flexible and can-do with changes and special requests. I had a small patch in the garage ceiling to be filled (12"x6") as Town of Los Gatos would not approve the inspection for a gas heater replacement without it getting addressed. Sent an open request on Yelp, there were multiple bids most of them asking several hundreds of dollars for a 1 hour job. AMD Construct was the most reasonable and they did a perfect job. Super responsive over yelp messages and text, extremely polite and knowledgeable personnel to do the job, dot on time for the appointment. Could not have asked for anything better. read more

Hired for installing projector and screen mounts The technician came and immediately changed his shoes. They have separate shoes for indoors. Love that they respect other's homes. He said his English is not very good. So I appreciate that he wanted to give a heads-up. He didnot complain about climbing up the attic and coming down multiple times. He didnot complain about anything. Thats hard these days. (I am afraid of contractors, I have contractor PTS from multiple bad experiences) He cleaned up after the work, wiped the floors, and took all the trash. Overall a very pleasant experience. I had two and a half bathrooms in need of drastic remodeling at our home in Almaden. Removed wall tiles, relaid tiles on the floors, installed two new vanities, replaced all three toilets, installed granite around the bathtub, new shower door and plumbing, installed LED lights on top of shower stall and bathtub, replaced two ceiling fans, and painted all the walls and baseboards again. Sergei did a great coordinating job, addressed all concerns, and provided constant estimate updates. The price was very reasonable for the work they did. It took a little longer than promised, and we had a minor issue, but it was addressed properly. Along the way, they found and fixed some problems left from older construction. All technicians were very competent and they did very high quality work. Our quality and finishing standards were very high, but we are very satisfied with the results. I seriously find anything to do with contractors, plumbers, handymen, electricians etc. a nightmare!!! I met with 8 different people, they were either late, rude, exaggerate what needs to be done and so much more. I came across AMD Handyman and was really like.. I am going to try this one more time because of the good reviews (all the previous ones I called had great reviews too.) I called and got a voicemail.. didn't care to leave a voicemail because I was over flakey people, but Victoria called me back right away and said she was on the other line. That's like a first... then I explained her a wide range of things I needed to get done from electricity wiring, changing the toilet, repairing items, etc. No games--she gave me an average quote and said she's not sure until she sends someone. Finally, someone that gives you some kind of number without you having to take 2 hours of your day to meet them blindly for them to give you an outrageous number. I definitely like the service so far, so I scheduled a meeting with Alex to get an appraisal and he came (on time too) and gave me similar numbers to Victoria and the rest was history. They send Ali, which was a super nice and respectful person. I bought so many wrong things and he went to the store to get the correct items for me. He also cleaned up everything and helped carried my personal trash out too. Definitely hiring them when I plan to remodel my kitchen. Mike came to install a new faucet in our 70s bathroom. He did an excellent job, but our sink and piping were quite old so there were some unexpected small leaks that came up after he left. He had a great attitude about returning to resolve the issue on short notice, and clearly aimed to do whatever it took to get the job done right. Danyl and team are wonderful!! I have had them for 3 different jobs. The first for fixing the stand alone vanity and sliding bathroom door (Dennis and Alex). The second for fixing hardware on all the cabinets (Nick) and third for installing ikea curtain rods (Patrick). They are punctual and get the job done in the estimated time frame. They are good at their work as they ensure it is done as per code as well as it holds well. They deliver quality work! Minimum 2 hours for a handyman? Hourly rate is fine but two hours for small jobs is just ridiculous.

I was remodeling my daughters room and needed to level the slab floor. I applied several buckets of self leveling compound but the floor was still lot level because the compound was not leveling evenly as I poured it. There came to be a high region in the middle and I didn't want to add anymore compound. I reached out to multiple places on Yelp to see if someone could help grind and level the floor. AMD responded quickly and came out the next day to quote. They gave me a free quote and started work 2 days later. They ground the floor down to level and I even had them install the laminate flooring for me. They did it very quickly. The costs was kind of high but the quality was good. read more

We had a faucet replaced on our bathroom sink on Tuesday May 18 2021. Sayan came out to do the work. He was scheduled for 12pm and arrived between 11:30 & 11:45am early which was awesome. He installed the faucet with no problem but he also took his time and showed care for his work and kept us updated during the process. He also discovered we had some junk stuck in the drain and tried to clear it. We have had this issue often so we were aware. However, he showed concern and checked it several times. I haven't hired them yet, but so far so good. I've contacted a few handyman/contractor services on Yelp and most of them flake on me. They schedule an appointment to do an estimate, don't show up, and never return calls. AMD Handyman scheduled an appointment, and the estimator showed up right on the dot, and only took a few minutes in my home to understand what was going on. He said it would be a few days for the estimate to come in, and I got it right on schedule. I needed one of the line items broken out and they were happy to do it for me. I still need to do some more information gathering for our project, but so far AMD Handyman is at the top of our list for responsiveness alone.
