It's a 'Classic' theatre classification by AMC which means it's on the lower end of quality, amenities, and conveniences. Having said that, we have been AMC A-Listers for many years before we moved to Ellijay from Dallas, TX. Seeing anything in other than Screen 8 (Big D), you have to question if it's worth the drive. Screen 8 does have more comfortable 'leather' chairs while the others are the typical old theatre seats. The lobby is fine and has what you need to enjoy the movie, including a bar. There is no assigned seating at this theatre. The entire theatre desperately needs a remodel, especially to update the screen quality and seating. Overall, Big D screen is better than what we have locally in Ellijay but seating is better in Ellijay as the have recliners and you can pick your seats, which we love. We have never had issues with the staff as far as rudeness that some mention. read more

The movie we saw was great!!!! However if the theater doesn't close til 11 getting a refill of popcorn at 9:46 shouldn't be a problem as well as a beverage for those of the age of alc consumption... Rudest staff who don't even acknowledge you as you walk in (1 staff member on schedule was hanging out and talking with a group of her friends as we walked in). Then berate us that 'she was yelling after y'all but you kept walking'?!?!?? What?? Then informed us that only 3D theater available for the 9pm film 1/30. This place needs MAJOR remodeling done. Hands down the worst theater I've ever been in. These seats are disgusting, and uncomfortable. The only theater here that has DECENT screen quality is the big D. I could watch this movie at home and have a much more immersive experience. It was pretty good, although we had a guy smoking in the front row and it took awhile for them to throw him out. I like what they did for the FNAF movie, decorating the glass out front though. The seats were just okay and it was kind of dirty. The large popcorn comes in a flimsy bag instead of a bucket and it was pretty expensive. read more

Our first time checking out this theatre. It was nice to find an AMC close to the house, but I have mixed feelings about coming back here. We went to watch John Wick Chapter 3 in the middle of day, since we didn't want to deal with crowds. The place seems older, looks like it havent done much updates nor upgrades. Unlike the other AMC, this one does not have the reclining chairs. Wish they would do the upgrades. The line to purchase ticket and concessions was all together. Which I think wasn't a bad idea, dont have to standing 2 separate lines. We purchased out ticket and an icee. No popcorn since we just had lunch, but next time will definitely try it. read more

I do not get how low rated this is! This has a great variety of snacks and candy. In the parking lot, there are electric car chargers. I went to the door and saw some art of movies for a warm welcome. I ordered a pretzel, this thing is huge. You can fit this thing inside of a pizza box (1.5 pounds).It was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There are many options for drinks. They even have buttering stations. The movie was good all in all. No one was there other than us and a family, The seat quality was pretty good and the movie was amazing. read more

This has to be the worst movie theater ever. My kids where harassed by Gianna (one of the workers). It looks like they have never cleaned the place. The workers just don't care about there jobs. This was the closest movie theatre to Cumming that was playing a thriller my friend and I wanted to see. We went during matinee hours. The place was empty, except for a few staff members. The theatre is large and spacious, but a bit dated. They have a lounge area and a full bar in the lobby. My friend and I didn't purchase any snacks and made our way to our auditorium. The seats were comfy, but non-reclining. We didn't experience any issues, and the staff was pleasant during our visit. read more

I arrived on a weekend night to find the ticket line out the door. Since this theater doesn't have any self service electronic ticket stations or any dedicated ticket only stations, this means you have to wait in a line at the concession stand. With most patrons there with kids that means each transaction at the concession stand takes 5 minutes as the kid tried to decide if they want twizzlers or popcorn or sour patch it takes them 3-5 minutes to service each customer. With only 3-4 registers open and a line of 30+ people you can do the math on how long it takes to get a ticket. Come on it's 2022 get some electronic ticket stations read more

We really enjoy the theater and have always had friendly staff. Our challenge has always involved concession food quality. We had nachos last last and they were the worst we have ever had. Chips were too salty, the cheese wasn't warm and it's flavor was not good. read more

Giving this theater a 2 star rating is so hard. I was so excited to have an AMC closer to home. When Carmike Cinemas owned the theater we did attend a few times and the manager was wonderful. I was just excited because I'm an AMC Stubbs member and have been for about 16 years. We went to see wonder woman, great movie. Walking up you first notice the box office is closed, not that a sign was posted to indicate this. Upon entry you see one side, on a weekend was closed, very strange. Then you get in line, service was quick because I have a separate premiere Stubbs line. The young man helping me was very nice, but he didn't have a properly functioning register. The receipt wouldn't print and in turn the tickets for the movie, he had to move the register up and down, try to feed paper, etc...he kept apologizing. This isn't his fault. If you are going to force patrons to purchase tickets at the concession stand the provide working equipment to you staff. The popcorn tasted fine, but the condiment station was disgusting. It appears they are very understaffed. Butter everywhere, straws, trash, sticky floor. Yuck. Pieces of paper are taped over the movie matrix inducator boards directing you to the proper theater giving you the ferling if being in a dollar movie when you just paid full price. The seats are older, not reclining, the theater itself was fine. Movie quality was good. Upon exiting we added our popcorn bag and cups to the mound of overflowing trash after 2 attempts to find a trash bin not overflowing. This can't be good! I hate to say it but this won't be my go to theater. I will continue driving 30 minutes to northpoint mall instead of 6 minutes to this one. I hope these nice employees get some support. read more

My family and I went to see Midway last night. While the movie was fantastic, the theater left plenty to be desired. The lines were RIDICULOUS!!! Why not have a "box office" to purchase tickets?? This buying tickets at the concession counter creates chaos. On top of waiting in line for 20+ minutes, the fountain machines were out of ice, Coke & Sprite!! I understand it was probably more crowded due to the holiday, but this wasn't my first less than acceptable experience at this theater. Get it together management!!! I'll give them another chance, as they're the absolutely closest theater to my house. But if it doesn't improve, I won't continue to give them my business. read more

We prepurchase our movie tickets so we would not have to wait in line. The online tickets even state that you skip the lines and present the qr code to the ticket checker. Well, obviously to save money, this theater doesn't have a ticket checker. There is one entry and one line for purchasing tickets, concessions, and ticket checking, so everyone waits in line. The theater seats are 1980 style non- reclining seats with shared armrests. With minimal staff, single line service, and entryways blocked off with cones, the theater is not a welcoming place. AMC, please do something to bring this theater up to at least the minimum experience that a customer expects at one of the your theaters. We will go to Regal in Woodstock the next time we want to go out to a movie. read more

I've seen every movie that's based on Marvel and or DC Comics starting with Thor (2011) at this theater....and of course saw all the Hobbit movies here too... never had a bad experience and with all the money spent here I could've put a down payment on another house... two tickets, two popcorn, two drinks comes close to about $60 especially if you watch it in 3D..the folks that work here are super nice but the bathrooms could use a bit tidying up....nevertheless....it's a good theater... read more

Combined ticket sales with concessions seems to be an idea dreamt up by some corporate monkey in an effort to save money by having less staff...as you would expect it fails when it comes to execution. They have a bar and serve alcoholic beverages as well ( limit two). I recommend seeing any movie here, but highly recommend the Big D experience. read more

The reviews really speak for themselves. We went to see Beauty and the Beast on a Sunday night, and the theater was FILTHY. I mean, I get it, you're busy, but come on! The interior is old and dated. Floors were disgusting. I mean, just gross. The bathroom I visited had only two stalls...which makes absolutely no sense to my brain. The screen was really nice and the picture was super clear, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. We won't be back even though it's our closest theater. First of all this AMC Canton Theatre is not the issue, it's corporate policy and their communication policy. AMC does not have live telecon communications. You have to contact them through Facebook or Twitter. My problem was I attempted to cancel an "A-LIST MEMBERSHIP' on line and apparently it did not register which I find hard to believe as I cancelled my wife's account at the same time and it was processed. So, AMC decides to continue billing me despite having not used the service for over a year. AND, they have a NO REFUND POLICY. While in use I loved the program but getting out it has been a hassle. It feels good to click only one star for Carmike Riverstone. Those of us in Canton only have the one theater, and our theater blows. It is a 1980's era 16 cinema multiplex with many little tiny theaters in it, a couple of medium size theaters, and one really big, nice theater that they call the Triple D. It has fancy green neon outside of it and beckons one to come see a cool 3D movie inside. Except they will sell you a 3D movie ticket, and you think you are going to the mega theater, and instead they sit you and perhaps up to 50 other people in a room only a little bigger than a large home's living room with a screen seemingly smaller than our flat panel at home. Popcorn is five hundred dollars a bag, and drinks require you to sell yourself into indentured servitude. We usually popcorn at home, put it in a bag, and then take it with us hidden under a jacket or something. The service is HORRIBLE. The children they hire are trained to work the register and get popcorn and candy - that is all. They are rude, abrasive, and totally care nothing for whether or not you enjoy seeing the movie. We've had a film have defects throughout or the sound screwed up for most of the film, complained, and the kids just laugh it off and go back to asking each other to go on dates. Why are theaters dying off and being replaced by streaming videos? Because these little multiplexes are not as nice as home theaters these days, the kids are rude, the floors are sticky, and the food is ridiculously expensive. We keep going there out of habit, I think, from the time when we were young and theaters were a nice thing to do. Now it is just gross to be in a room with teenagers talking and texting during movies. You pay too much and get nothing back but big TV and bad sound. Drive to town lake or all the way to Kennesaw to get away from this theater. Just never go there. Hopefully it will close down. No theater is better than this one. read more

This was a weird experience. Half of our family went to one movie while the other half went to another. Opening night for both films. Ticket booths outside were closed so the employees were doing double duty with concessions and tickets which resulted in ridiculously long lines. We didn't have tickets in hand until after the start time for the shows. No ticket kiosks where you can buy them as a self serve option either. Once we got in our theaters, they were virtually empty. Carmike Cinemas is a discount theatre owned by Regal Cinemas. I was pleasantly surprised by how cheap the tickets were for the theatre's version of IMAX, which they call Big D, lol. The screen size is equivalent to the Atlantic Station's IMAX screen. However, it only costs $7.50 per an adult ticket if you go to any IMAX showing before 5:30 pm. Also, regular ticket prices are $5.50 between 4-5:30. Pretty sweet! I was really surprised at the poor reviews this theatre received. I can only really comment on the Big D experience, so that may be why. Overall, the theatre doesn't look that impressive from the outside. Also, the entrance to Big D is very cheesy; there are a ton of green fluorescent lights. However, the theatre is equipped with large comfy leather chairs that recline. The IMAX screen is comparable to most other IMAX theatres. I also felt the theatre was clean and well-kept. All in all, it's a great option for IMAX if you're in the area. read more
