I like the novelty of shopping at Amazon Fresh and enjoyed checking out the selections in the different sections. The line to obtain the Smart Carts was too long to bother with, besides, it was a very hot day and we didn't have ice or cold packs to preserve any food. Prices are whatever, frankly. For every good deal there's something average or proportionately higher. I did approve of the readily available apertivo supplies, lots of Prosecco and bitters, a decent quick grab champagne area had some cut above producers. The meats looked good but not great, produce seemed on par with Ralph's, and while I wasn't hungry enough to look hard, the deli and quick eats area seemed interesting. Cool store. Kind of reminds me of Whole Foods, but more reasonably priced. They have a pizza bar, hot food section, bakery and a Krispy Kreme conveniently located inside the store. My favorite part was definitely the sushi section, as all the rolls were super fresh and reasonably priced! They are also now serving teriyaki rice bowls, which are also great. To my surprise, the bottom contained fried rice instead of just plain white rice! Is this the future or...? This was my first time entering an Amazon Fresh. I've heard people talk about it and read articles but I never set foot in one until now. First impressions I thought it was pretty cool. I wish there was someone to greet/ help you especially for first timers. This grocery store is complete with a deli, fresh meat section, sushi bar, etc. Because it's Amazon they also do returns and have an area of Amazon lockers! The prices on the items are digital and it shows you the review of the products. From my experience the store was well stocked and VERY clean, almost sterile. They also have restrooms located at the back of the store. I couldn't really find too many workers though the ones I did see were stocking. There was one person working a register. If you need help finding an item you ask one of the Alexa machines and she will tell you which aisle the item is in- pretty futuristic stuff! I feel like the experience was okay, it just felt "weird" and "dry"? I can't really explain it but definitely a convenient store to get your groceries with a unique experience. read more

Take the northbound exit on Jamboree and then you'll see the large signage indicating that you've reached your destination. It's literally visible from the freeway! Since this is a shared lot, parking won't be an issue as you can park on the other side, if necessary. Amazon Fresh is a step in the right direction, considering the issue that the world is currently facing. Of course, they limit the number of people that can be inside of the store at one time. This has basically become the norm for everyone at this point. Two lines form outside, one to just go inside and shop sans technology and the other is for the Dash Cart. Let me tell you about this Dash Cart!!! It's the greatest thing EVER!!! So you have to make sure that your Amazon Prime account is linked up. You'll get the Dash Cart and scan your code to it. Anything and everything that you load into this cart passes a sensor. It indicates what the item is, the quantity, and the price. Seriously, it's the best thing ever!!! You can delete items from the cart as you remove theme as well. Everything is automatic! When you're finished shopping, the employees will help you bag your groceries, if needed. Your cart is totaled up automatically and then you're on your way! It's all charged to your Amazon account! Isn't that amazing??? As for the selection of food and other grocery items, you'll find everything that you'd see at your local grocers and so much more! Fresh fruit and vegetables are beautifully displayed. Plenty of organic food is also on site. Of course, you'll find toiletries and personal care items. Pet food and even some nifty electronics are available for purchase. Welcome to the grocery store of the future! Automatic shopping cart tracking each item you put in the cart? Check. Cart getting angry when you put an item in too fast or take something out? Check. Cart transforming into an autonomous robot and taking over the world? Not yet! But maybe soon. Generally, it is "kinda" like Whole Foods but different in a few key respects. When you first enter you can choose from an old-school shopping cart, or a futuristic cart (pictured below) where you actually log in to your Amazon account, and it tracks you and what you put in the cart. The futuristic cart option allows you to simply exit the store when you are done shopping, by walking through the "fast lane." There is a person there who helps you verify the total, and after clicking "ok" on the purchase amount shown on the cart's display, you are done! It is true contactless payment, taking away the one of the biggest hassles of going to the grocery store. Around lunchtime on a weekday, the place was an absolute hive of activity, with Amazon Fresh shoppers, regular shoppers, and numerous employees milling about. This location is definitely a hub of commerce. It looked like the employees were putting out items as fast as they could sell them in some areas. Maybe they just got a shipment or something. Who knows. The store itself is easy to access, and the inside is immaculate. They had just about everything a fairly large supermarket would have. They also had many tasty choices for lunch, including fresh food, with hot stuff also. I imagine the spread is a bit toned down due to COVID but it was still nice all the same. And speaking of COVID - yes, masks are required; employees are wearing masks and gloves, and sanitize carts when people are done with them. Shopping aisles are "one way" directions, and social distancing is required. There is also a little section in the back with Amazon products, and a return counter, where you can take your other Amazon purchases as well! Very convenient. Overall five stars. Yes it's true, the items are limited and I honestly would not do my daily shopping here. Amazon fresh is not made for affordable cooking for a medium family, it is made for the young single yuppies. Yup, if you're single, lazy, don't cook, but like some form of fresh food once in a while, this is the place for you! There are many pre-made meals here that you bring home and throw in the oven/microwave or there is the fresh deli section. Although I do have to warn you the fresh deli section can use an overhaul. The food isn't very good, the pizza is horrible, the cheap in house 0.89 cents baguette bread is crap, but the soup is decent. What I do get is the milk. Organic milk has gone up $1 or more everywhere and it's really expensive. The eggs, yogurt, canned goods, bread, medicine, and lots of items on the dry aisle are all good choices! Than there's also the technology. It's cool shopping around with a cart that reads your items and charges you as they go in. I've never used it myself since there's always a line to use one. The original thought around first creating the Amazon fresh store was to have cameras and technology that recognizes your purchase and automatically charges you and all you have to do is walk out. I was impressed by how the dash cart could weigh produce correctly even when other things are in the cart but otherwise I was unimpressed by Amazon's grocery store. My mom, sisters and I waited in line for a dash cart for 15 minutes even though there were only 4 other groups in front of us. It was terribly slow and the woman at the door said it can be even worse when the dash carts run out of battery! People using a traditional cart could walk right in so I admit we made the choice to wait for the special cart. As for the dash cart, it only fits 2 paper bags. The workers at the door tell you that everything must stay under the sensors once you put it in. Well that's certainly impossible when you put the $0.89 French bread in! We had to try multiple times to get the baguette-like bread scanned. Besides that the scanners did work pretty well. For the grocery store, I definitely sensed they took notes from Whole Foods on the layout and pre-packaged food selection but it also gave me bad Aldi vibes (poor quality) I won't be back but I'll be curious to see whether this place succeeds or fails. read more

Fully staffed, you can find them everywhere in the store pushing their standing carts around (reminds me of healthcare workers charting while walking from station to station, HAHA). Great selection of grocery items. Great price. Pretty much set up like a Whole Foods. Great selection of baked goods (my favorite). Pizza by the slice or you can place an order for a whole. The 2nd Amazon Fresh opened in Irvine at the Marketplace, where Babies R Us used to be. We went on the Friday that it opened, and was pleasantly surprised at the ease (and fun) of grocery shopping! My first impression was it looked like the old Fresh n Easy, but on steroids. There's plenty of variety in all the departments, but definitely scaled down compared to a major grocery store. You will need to be familiar with prices, as not all prices are better here than at the local chain markets. In order to use the DASH cart, you will need an Amazon account with a card linked to it. That's how the "DASH" cart can be used for quick grocery shopping, and quickly checks you out. Remember its not a Costco cart. So those who complain that the DASH cart doesn't hold enough groceries... go use the regular cart. The DASH cart is weight sensitive, so you can purchase your produce using the cart instead of the community scale. Simply enter the produce PLU number, place the produce in your cart, confirm the weight and presto! you're done. Since the opening, we've been there twice, and have had an excellent experience. The reason for not 5 stars is the shelves aren't always stocked, especially the sale items. It's not to say staff aren't restocking, but the sale items they are promoting are bone dry. The second Amazon Fresh in the United States opened near home so of course we HAD TO go! Located right next door to Ulta. If you're familiar with Tustin Market Place.. this used to be Babies R Us. Plenty of free parking in a large lot. We came on a weekend evening which so happened to be the last day to use a $10 off $35 coupon so we waited 40 minutes in line. We received the coupon in the mail and staff was handing out the same coupon to everyone in line. There is a line for using a regular standard shopping cart and another for the Dash Cart. The Dash Cart line was much longer and moved slower. For the Dash Cart: You need an Amazon account with a linked payment card. Log in before entering the store and pull up your Amazon Fresh barcode. Scan the barcode on the Dash Cart and start shopping! The Dash Cart is the super cool new cart with a screen where it automatically scans the items when you place it in your cart! It will also erase an item from your list when you remove it from your cart. You can also check out on the screen without having to line up. I thought this was a fun experience and loved how I can see my total before checking out. There was a staff member at the entrance to walk us through the process as well as many staff members throughout the store. Checking out with a touch of a few buttons was a breeze! As for the prices.. some items were cheaper and some items were more expensive from our usual shops like Ralph's and Target. For example, gingerbread Oreos and gingerbread Belvitas are more expensive here than Target. I also noticed Hormel chili is cheaper here than Target. You just have to do your homework to get the most bang for your buck! There are Amazon brands for many items which had good deals! We specifically purchased Amazon brand ground beef and cheese for less than Albertsons and Ralph's. Due to this new store's popularity, there was a very long line which stretched past Ulta and quite a lot of people inside who walked in all different directions. "One way only" and "do not enter" signs on the ground were not followed or enforced during our shopping trip. However, the staff outside managing the line to enter did a great job in enforcing social distancing. read more

Quite honestly a miserable shopping experience every time and I would never come if it weren't for the $20 off $40 coupons (and even then you have to be price conscious of what you buy here because so many things are marked up - I hate psychological trickery like this). Anyways, this place sucks. The lighting is sterile and awful makes you feel like you're in a psych ward, half the dash carts are broken so you're always waiting if you want one of those carts, the registers are also insanely long, shelves aren't always stocked, the carts in the parking lot is a giant mess, and the employees aren't pleasant. So i have been trying a few different items throughout the store and while some are really good others are just so so. Premade salad from the Deli Counter- most of the options average about $7/lb. I tried the pesto pasta salad which has fresh cherry tomatoes and small balls of mozzarella cheese in it. It was decent but could use a little more pesto flavor. Aplenty Snacks- Tried a number of different snacks including the potato chip and pita chips. The kettle style chips are pretty good but some of the flavors just dont arent strong enough. For instance the sour cream and onions and salt and pepper are lacking. The ghost chili could have a spicier. Favorite so far is BBQ and the garlic and parmesan. The pita chips are ok but rather thin so it doesnt hold up as good as stacy pita chips when used to dip with hummus. Brookie- This can be found over in the bakery area where the rest of the packaged pastries are located. Normally my expectations for store bought cookies is pretty low but i was pleasant surprise about this specific item. It was actually very moist but not greasy and not overly sweet. Many of my coworker and i agreed that for a store made cookie, this was pretty darn good. Premade hummus- The classic version has a very strong garlic taste. The red pepper one is ok as well. There were 2 lines outside, one for regular carts that immediately got you inside and one for the dash cart which had about a 15 minute wait. Employees were very friendly and extremely helpful on how to use your phone app and the dash cart. Ready, Set, Go! I was on my way grocery shopping inside the store where there was plenty of fresh produce, a great deli and bakery section and a wonderful diverse selection of grocery and essential items I can simply place in the dash cart and it will scan and tally up all the items in the cart for a simple checkout at the end! The only complaint I have is you can't roll out the dash cart to your car to unload and need to transfer your bags into a regular cart if you can't carry the items out with your hands. read more

I had the chance to visit the first Amazon Fresh store while under construction in Woodland Hills, California months ago before the shut down. This new location is full of technology just like Woodland Hills along with the upcoming stores. The grocery card is not only smart, you can check out through the cart. The cart is very smart. Put your item in the cart, and it's added to your shopping list, removed it, and the smart cart removes the item so your not charged. The prices here are okay. I feel on major brands you can find better deals at Stater Brothers (for example). Amazon Fresh does carry many of your favorite major brands, but I think other stores will draw higher grocery receipts. You will find everything here from seafood, meat, fresh produce, bakery, hand made sandwiches, Amazon products, plus package pick up, and returns. The only reason they wouldn't get 5 stars is because pricing seems high on many major brands. People are loyal to brands, and grocery stores. Only time will tell if Amazon can get brand loyalty for the Amazon Fresh brand. read more

Beware of Amazon Fresh and their sneaky practices! They will show a price of a particular item then a prime price below it. If you use the self checkout it will ring you up with the full price. They used to deduct and charge the prime member price once you use a card that is tied to your account, not anymore! I asked the clerk why it didn't deduct it and he said I needed to look up my account first or use my card first before ringing up the items. I said do you tell customers to swipe their card first when you ring them up? He said no! So why does it automatically deduct on your side but not self checkout? No answer! I never thought I would write a review on an Amazon Fresh, but here we are... If you are an old school person like me, you will not like shopping at this futuristic supermarket. The entire process from entering the supermarket to checking-out was extremely confusing. It's so confusing that they hired several dedicated personnel to explain the process to customers. If you plan on entering an Amazon Fresh store, make sure you have a linked credit card to your Amazon account. Without it, you can't enter. The complicated process is below: 1.) Scan your phone with a linked Amazon account and a linked credit card into their Amazon system. This will generate a QR code. 2.) Once you scan your Amazon identity into the system, the holy Amazon gates will grant you access to the supermarket twilight zone. 3.) Pick up empty shopping bags for your groceries. 4.) Walk around the store while thousands of cameras watch what you put into your grocery cart. (It's borderline creepy and weird) 5.) Go to the check-out gate. 6.) Once you are at the check-gate, an employee will guide you to the check-out scanner. 7.) Scan your Amazon account information back into the system.....AGAIN. 8.) Leave the store. 9.) This location gets more frequented than others because of it's prime spot in The Market Place. As a result, inventory is limited and a lot of the items I was looking for, as advertised for sale, were out of stock. Additionally, a lot of the items are simultaneously pulled off the shelves to fulfill Amazon Fresh online orders so it's like a constant competition with online shoppers. The Amazon shoppers who are pulling the items for the orders will help you if you can't find something, but they seem distracted because they're being detracted from their job of prepping online orders. I do like the fact that this location is one of a few with the famous Dash carts, which allows you to checkout without having to go through a cashier's register.
