I like shopping at H Mart because I can usually find just about every Asian grocery item I'm looking for in one place. The prices are definitely higher than many other markets, but the quality has always been pretty solid. One of the main reasons I come here is for the Korean beef short ribs. Every time I've bought them, they've been fresh and looked great. The only downside for me is the parking lot. Finding a spot can be a challenge depending on the time of day. Other than that, most of the products here, from frozen foods to kimchi and other groceries, have been consistently fresh. The store is clean, well organized, and doesn't have that strong market smell that some grocery stores can have. Everything is laid out in a way that's easy to find, which makes shopping a little more convenient. The staff isn't especially friendly, but they do their job and I've never had any issues. read more

Super fisted H Mart, just by virtue of being located in Diamond Jamboree. Even though there's a sign saying that the parking in front is only for H Mart, good luck attempting to enforce it, but I HAVE seen people get towed. Easiest thing to do is pray and use the overflow lot to the side. With that in mind, this location pales in comparison to the others. Although Buena Park and Arcadia can get a bit tight for parking, it's never that much of a PvP zone where literally the entire zip code is in one place. It's also not the biggest H Mart that I've been to either. It's not a Super H Mart like some other locations. They do have a small food court off to the side, but seating is limited. The food court has Maison de Croissant (yummy croffles and other baked goods), Pizza Chicken Love Letter (at least the last time I checked), and I think at least one more. Like the other locations they have packed deli food and other bento box type foods that get discounted later on. Very busy and very crowded and since it's smaller, a bit more limited. Does what it has to, but definitely better locations out there. read more

H mart at the corner of Alton and Jamboree. Yes, come to find out, there are two other locations nearby also. We like to frequent this location. So close to New Port Beach. This complex also houses BCD Tofu House, Marugsme Udon, 85C, Tim Ho Wan, Kura and many more popular restaurants.p They do have smaller shops to the right corner and also few mom and pop restaurant. This location is smaller but packed with all the things you need. Definitely my favorite location to stop by. We even got bunch of smaller gift items to take back to Colorado. read more

Went to H Mart after lunch for the food court. Several counters with food and drinks for sale. Fair number of tables and chairs in the middle of the food court. After dessert we walked through the store and browsed the various fruits, vegetables, meats, and other items for sale. Many Asian items that aren't available in traditional main stream grocery stores. Good selection of fruits and vegetables from Asia that aren't readily available in the US. Hmart is the perfect place to buy a picnic for the beach. I love picking up food from them especially on my solo dates :D the best tasting food and to be the salmon belly. This H Mart Irvine is a clean, well-stocked Asian supermarket with great produce, fresh seafood, and plenty of specialty items you can't find in regular grocery stores. The parking lot is decent and since it is located at Diamond Jamboree plaza it can also be quite busy. Prices are reasonable, and the small food-court area is a nice bonus. It can get crowded, but it's one of the best spots in Irvine for Asian groceries. You do have to be careful and look at the produce carefully as I've found some moldy items there. read more

SO FRUSTRATING!! We wanted to grab some food for our beach picnic. We grabbed Kimbap, sushi, rice, & spare ribs. After checking out we realized we needed utensils & went over to the restaurant area to get some. They said we couldn't have any & kept telling us they don't have utensils. How can you not have utensils? This is the restaurant area!? Then they told us to go get utensils from the cashier. We went back to checkout and they gave us chopsticks but why wouldn't they give us chopsticks if they saw us buying sushi etc.? Then I asked the cashier for a fork and spoon and said they don't have any & to ask the restaurant area! I would shop at this HMART all the time and spend 100s on weekly grocery runs. However, that's all came to an end. I no longer come here after an experience I had with a lady who bagged my groceries. She bagged my groceries and the bag was clearly overfilled and falling over. I was there by myself that day, and I asked her for an additional bag so I would not literally spill my groceries while carrying them to my car. Even tho it was obviously unacceptably packed, the lady screamed at me and even stooped to claiming I was stealing a bag. After being a loyal HMART customer for years, I will not stand to be treated like this. So, I simply shop elsewhere now and honestly do not miss the passive aggressive workers in this store. I never thought of leaving a review for H Mart so here goes. It's a pretty solid Asian grocery store with a bakery and food courts area as well. I think the food court area changed since Covid. I have yet to try it, but it looks like it has more of a hot food reaching than it did where it was served to you directly out of the pan. I could be wrong. I usually stop in to get some produce and condiments. Today was no different. I find the prices very reasonable overall for a lot of items. The watermelon and cantaloupe I purchased today were a lot less expensive here than they are at Ralph's or pavilions. I was bummed that the sweet potato wasn't ready yet. I had about another hour for it to cook in the produce area. The store can get really busy but one of the things that drives me crazy is all of the restocking so it can be a little bit hard to get around some of the employees. And they're usually isn't enough lanes open to get in and out quickly. I almost wish they would have self check out at this point. It has been a while since I have visited this location and I also think that the beverage section has been reduced as far as variety. They still have my favorites, but some of the things I was looking for did not seem to be available. Overall, it's a generally clean store. It's easy to find things overall. There is a parking lot directly in front of it that is designated just for the store. They don't like when you park there and then go over to the restaurants in the other parking lot. If I could give zero stars, I would. Today we visited H Mart to purchase fresh fish for a BBQ, trusting that the seafood was fresh. We selected two fish that had just been put out and asked an employee to gut and clean them before taking them home. The process was done quickly, with no mention of any issue or concern about the fish. Once we got home and began prepping them at the BBQ, we immediately noticed a strong, off-putting odor. Upon opening the fish, it was clear that it was completely rotten on the inside. This was extremely disturbing and unacceptable, especially from a large, well-known grocery chain. What makes this even worse is that the employee who cleaned the fish never said anything or offered to replace them. Selling rotten fish for consumption is careless and dangerous. Rude customer service from the cashier- a college age "man" who acted inconvenienced because I asked for a few more paper bags so that my groceries would not rip. Instead of distributing the weight evenly among the bags he proceeded to put all the heavy items such as kimchi in glass jars in one bag! And then I told him it was going to rip and I had to redo all the groceries in the bags myself because he mumbled some garbage trying to defend his BS. However, I'm Mexican and when I go to the Mexican stores, there's labels in English and Spanish you know because, Amerika, Here at Hmart, they have not acclimated yet and so I will spend five hours looking for a grain, I say five because no one can seem to help me out when I ask for help. So many H Mart to choose from in Irvine, very smart. This is the closest location to me, and I try to go around 11am. I find the market side has the least amount of people around this time and I love to browse every aisle and look at everything. This place makes me so happy. The quality of the produce and meat is always top notch. I love being able to pick up small packages of banchan to take for lunch. The parking lot can be a little dicey but nothing that would stop me from shopping there. I had to ask for help finding gochujang and one of the employees walked me right up to it. My siren looked into my eyes once again and asked, "Can we go in???" I was thinking to myself, WTH, going to the Asian grocery store on a date??? Well, this was after our lovely experience to the Taiwanese tea shop in the same shopping center. I guess this is part of the whole experience. My lovely lady was going to hear it from me as she shopped for some fruits and vegetables. The H-Mart here has a lovely layout. It seemed smaller in scale. My first time visiting the store here but I've been in the much larger one in Buena Park. I don't know, it was confusing, I was under the spell of my beauty and she wanted to pick up a few items on our date. Just watching a gorgeous woman in heels and a mini rocking it down the produce aisle was fantastic. LOL. It was the most enjoyable grocery shopping I've ever experienced! Her favorite fruit was passion fruit. I asked her, how do you know which to pick for the best flavor? She said, go for the ones showing redness in the skin. She expertly chose between two of the packages and even pierced the plastic wrap to feel the fruit. She chose, I was amused. She picked a package of dark red cherries along the way toward the sweet potatoes. Then she asked me, what the sweetest variety of the several to pick from... oh geez! IMHO, I pointed to the ones that looked familiar to me. It was from the Melissa's brand. She loves sweet potatoes. Nice, I love them too. Then she saw lotus root in the cooler! This is an item I personally don't shop for but I was intrigued. She asked me, do you know this vegetable? How can I not, I love fried sesame balls filled with golden lotus paste. And the final stop was for sweet navel oranges. She went for the best-looking orange orbs. We walked through the maze of products to the checkout stand. I placed the goods on the belt and I accepted a grocery bag. I usually bring my own. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is my motto. I was surprised there was no bag charge on the receipt but that doesn't mean that they do not charge for them. I think I was the luckiest man at that moment. I got the bag for free! I'll give it 2 stars because the store was amazing, the staff were friendly, it was clean, and had a huge selection but i bought these lobster claws from their frozen seafood selection and i have a feeling they freeze expired seafood because you can't smell the seafood when it's frozen, two instances have passed now w me buying frozen seafood at this location and it's spoiled. Today I was on the hunt for my daughter's favorite rice snacks from Korean brand "ivenet". I went to Zion off Irvine/Yale and the new Hmart off Irvine/Culver but they both didn't have any at all. These crackers / snacks are a favorite for little one and are a staple in my pantry. If you're looking for a low sugar, crunchy snack for your kiddo, these are great! Though the aisles of this Hmart can be quite narrow, I'm impressed in the variety and well-stocked shelves. The food court could be more interesting but they don't have much real estate in that corner. The restrooms here are super tiny stalls and sometimes don't have enough paper or soap. I couldn't find the customer service section for this store but if they do have one, it's probably somewhere in the front of the store. The cashiers are always very polite and efficient. If you're here during the springtime, they also sell live plants (usually popular Korean herbs) to plant in your garden). Sometimes in the winter they have a person out front selling roasted yams, taiyaki (red bean fish snack) or warm custard snacks. I didn't see them this time around so maybe they weren't composed this year. read more

I had a really frustrating experience at the express checkout line (#1) at Hmart on Saturday night around 5 PM. The cashier, an older Spanish man, was taking way too long with the customer ahead of me, spending over three minutes explaining how to use a product while the line kept growing. I totally get wanting to be helpful, but this was the express line, and it was a busy Saturday evening. Everyone just wanted to check out and get on with their night. When I gently asked if he could move things along, he was incredibly rude and snapped, "I can only handle one customer at a time; it's not your turn." Honestly, if he enjoys explaining products in detail, he should be doing that in another role. Holding up a line and wasting everyone's time is not the way to go, especially when people are waiting. Hmart needs to train their staff better. This was such a disappointing experience. read more

This is the newest H mart in Irvine and carries a wide variety of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese foods. The store is very cold because of all the the refrigerated cases. There are large sections for different cuts of meat and seafood. Adjacent to the store is a food court with about a dozen takeout Japanese, Chinese, and Korean foods to choose from. It is the closest to the UC Irvine campus and well worth the visit. read more

It is counter service, and the employees seemed to serve more than one area (i.e., might have to wait - don't expect to get in and out quickly). The seating area is spacious but very plain. Ordered three dishes; a BiBimBap, a vegetarian Korean sushi roll, and an udon. The ingredients were plenty, but all three dishes were a bit bland. Sauces are essential for all the dishes. Would recommend as a stop only if one is visiting the market. Won't go as a destination. read more

Aside from typical grocery items, here you can find ready-to-eat food (e.g., Jap Chae, kim bap, sushi, steamed sticky corn, gyoza, steamed buns, shrimp dumplings, etc.), pre-marinated meats for your DIY KBBQ at home, ban chan, and much more! They also have vendors within this market that sell baked goods, beauty products, and a couple other food stalls. I specifically like coming here to pick up Asian pears, my favorite brand of Kim Chi, Jap Chae noodles, gochujang, ban chan, and meat for BBQ. They also sell unique snacks like Honey Butter Almonds, which have become another one of my favorite finds here. H Mart is located in Irvine in the Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center off Alton Parkway and Jamboree Road. It's my favorite H Mart location. Like other grocery chains, H Mart has their own rewards program: Smart Savings Card. I've only been offered it just once out of the many times I've visited. And the kind young lady helped me save a couple dollars on some Honey Butter Almonds - pretty awesome! I definitely recommend checking out H Mart in Irvine!
