Daughter and I visited to get some breakfast before work and were pleasantly surprised to find new offerings in terms of Bento boxes on the relocated and bigger and longer ready food table. Besides picking up the shrimp dumplings and the fish Kimbap, we picked up for lunch a box with japchae and heart-shaped Spam pieces on black sesame sprinkled rice and 2 more Bento boxes: one with pork and the other with Galbi. There's no wasting of the Spam. In the Bento boxes, the leftover Spam from the hearts that were cut out are used to frame scrambled egg. The Bento boxes have a shrimp tempura, a small container of kimchi, squid, king oyster or abalone? (a chewy side we can't quite identify) and four in-season sweet cherries. The offerings made for a very satisfying breakfast and lunch. We can't wait to see what they come up with next. This is the third Hmart I have visited. I use to work very close to this area. Definitely a busy shopping plaza and watch out for folks who can't park and drive in the lot. I still enjoy the Lakewood location but I have to say pleasantly surprise with all the meat selections especially so early in the morning Smaller seafood and prepare food location than others but they certainly had things prep package and ready to go Freezer section seem a bit smaller and selection pending what looking for can be a hit or miss Some of the shelves did need some stocking but it appears they were stocking in the am as there was someone in a few aisles Only one cashier was available and the the line was 5-7 patrons but did go quick Nothing was terrible wrong or stood out Just wanted to check out this location but I still would choose the Lakewood location but glad to finally check it out and see the layout and selection read more

Compared to other H Marts, this location is very lackluster. Parking is a challenge, products are on the pricier side, and the layout is poorly designed. But on the upside... selection is decent, the interior is well maintained, and the accompanying food court is a great option for a quick lunch. I don't do much grocery shopping, but I'll stop by occasionally for the following: Protein - Short ribs (galbi), sliced ribeye (bulgogi), brisket (chadolbaegi), and pork belly (samgyeopsal) for grilling Korean barbecue at home. High quality meats with great marbling. Their marinade is acceptable, but I would highly suggest putting the time and effort into making your own. Will also get soft tofu for stews (soondubu), firmer tofu for stir-fry dishes, and oxtail for soups. Rice things - Bags of short-grain rice, spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki), rice cakes for soup (tteokguk), and regular rice cakes like the ones with the honey inside. Frozen - Bibigo dumplings (mandu), udon noodles, Japanese fish cakes to put in my bowl of udon, Hotdogs with the mozzarella/cheddar fillings and potato toppings like the ones they sell at Myungrang. Melona ice pops and mochi ice cream for the summer months. Beverages - Aloe Vera, black bean soy milk, sweet rice punch (sikhye), Yakult/other yogurt drinks. Snacks - My favorite section! Shrimp-flavored crackers, onion-flavored rings, ACE crackers, Pocky/Pepero chocolate sticks, lychee jelly cups, various cookies, crackers, chips, I can go on forever Instant Noodles - My other favorite! Shin Ramyun, Neoguri, Buldak ramen, Jin, Chapagetti, etc. Miscellaneous - Seaweed sheets for "Korean sushi rolls" (kimbap), Vermont Curry blocks, and panko bread crumbs. Pre-packaged sushi was a hit or miss, I don't plan on getting it again next time. The Alaska roll was fine, but the nigiri had an unpleasant aftertaste. The "Seasoned Wildweed" container is a mix of sliced vegetables you can add to rice dishes like bibimbap. It's convenient, but not the freshest. Better to just buy the ingredients separately and follow cooking videos from YouTubers like Maangchi. Two new H Marts are supposed to be opening in the future, one near Irvine Boulevard/Culver and the other in Westpark Plaza (both formerly Albertsons). Hopefully those will be better. read more

There are countless soy sauce flavors from countless manufacturers. And if you don't put the right soy sauce in your dish, the entire plate tastes "off". Asians have very educated palate when it comes to home cooked meals. At H Mart, not only is the store clean but they are well organized so you can find the ingredients needed. Anytime I go to the airport I have to stop by H Mart in Irvine and today. It was important to get the lobster since we had lobster in New Year's Eve and juju didn't get any. I was able to get bok choy two young coconuts, ready to drink all kinds of sauces, Ginger, sweet potatoes, blueberries, onions, oranges, and two for one chicken wings all for about $125. I have to say it's worth the drive from San Clemente. Even if I don't have to take someone to the airport highly recommend. read more

I love this market and would shop here every week if I lived closer. They need to open an H Mart in San Clemente! The fruits and veggies are super fresh and look like they are very well placed and taken care of. The sushi didn't look particularly tempting probably because I have extremely high standards. The sake selection is small but they do have Wakatake daijingo which is very reasonably priced. I couldn't find any yuzu anywhere on aisle 1. All good though. Terrible service because there is no service at all. Hyun Ju the cashier is slow and rude. For the 60+ items, she only help to pack 3 items. I have to pack everything else by myself. H-mart jacked up with the prices, but goes down substantially with the service. Hyun ju looks weak and tired, so I thought I'm going to help her to pack a bit. Hyun ju finally checked all of our items, I thought she may want to help me to pack, so I give her my bags, she throw my bags back to me rudely and watch me pack. She then act like she is sort of helping me by pushing items to me. But she kept looking at me and not helping out. When Hyun ju scan my rice bag, she use sign language to let me flip the bag for her to scan, like I can easily hold and flip 40 lb of rice bag easily. If she doesn't want to touch the rice bag, why will she want me to touch their dirty credit card pen ? After I use apple pay, she still wants me to use their dirty credit/debit Terminal Stylus pen to sign. Did you know that customer don't have to sign anymore if they use apple pay? Are you even trained? Hyun ju only helps when I start to complain about her bad attitude and the store's bad service in Korean. She probably didn't expect that I can speak Korean. When I complain it in english to her, she act like she doesn't understand, but when I start to complain about their bad service in Korean, she act like she is helping me to pack my last 3 items. The other staff(cashier #4 and 5) opened cashier machine and act like they are working and waiting for the ghost customers that never shows up even after I've packed all 60+ items. Some of them leave their machine on, went back with a drink before waiting for the next customer, they never helped. It must be nice to work as cashier for H-mart. Get free lunch, walking around the store and act like you are working, scan...scan, go to the toilet, chat with friends and come back with drinks and one day gone. Have you ever seen how cashier works in Mitsuwa, Tokyo central or Sprouts ? Even 99Ranch cashier service is better than this. Cashier at H-mart Irvine got zero motivation, no professional etiquette whatsoever. Maybe H-mart goes substantially with their managers as well. So many items got no price tags at all. H-mart cashier rule number 1: Provide a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service. 2. Register sales on a cash register by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customers' purchases. So if people like Hyun Ju only works half of the job request, is H-mart going to compensate customer discount or coupon if the customer is doing the rest of her work? It actually reminds me that before covid, I always shop at H-mart in Garden grove to avoid the bad service in H-mart in Irvine. I have to drive a bit far away, but at least service is better there. This H Mart is convenietly located in Diamond Jamboree Plaza aka Irvine flavor town. So after stuffing your face with food, you're prepared to hit H Mart & not over spend since you're already full. Whatever you fancy, this location is pretty convenient, minus the shit show parking. You see, getting to H Mart can be sort of a pain since the parking lot is small & most of the time this place gets pretty busy. If you're lucky, you'll score a spot in the immediate lot in front of the store. If you're somewhat lucky, you'll get a spot in the secret dirt lot to the right of the store. If you're doomed, you'll be in the parking garage or in the lot where all the restaurants are located. Finally, getting inside the store, you're brought into the produce section which is quite refreshing - you're brought into the most healthy section of the store, encouraging you to eat right, filling your cart with nutrient dense foods. AHH, Koreans you do it right! Next, you'll be in proteinville so stock up on bulgogi or Chadolbaegi (beef brisket strips) - guaranteed they will have it! Non-marinated or marinated, H Mart has you covered. There's also a seafood section with live geoduck clams which I've never seen before. I don't do seafood, but the selection here has it all! There's also a nice skincare/cleaning products & a huge snack aisle! What I loved too is there is another section devoted to the real deal rice cookers... ranging in from the $80-$400 range (yup I can guarantee those are legit, as they're priced that high in Asia). Also the Tupperware section is amazing! Tons of high quality glass. I definitely want to buy more from here as it seems to be hard to find nice glass Tupperware at a regular grocery store. Their fruit and produce section is usually fresh but I noticed that some of the leafy vegetables are at times a bit wilted or maybe over drenched with water. It's an H-Mart. It has your typical Asian groceries. It has a food court and a bakery. I go quite regularly. It is a bit pricier but the quality is better. Food court is quite pricey for me (～$20 / entree). Although I am still not used to paying at least $10 for McD breakfast... so maybe not so bad. Been eating out much less often lately. It says they are closed at 10pm. That is not true. They close the door to customers before 10 o'clock, and they should really update their hours to 9:45pm to be accurate. There's nothing like rushing to a store hoping you'll be able to pick up the one ingredient you need and the iron locks are on. Love H Mart and this one was especially nice!! We were in the area to buy some premade foods on our way to a concert and I'm so happy we stopped by here. Location/ambiance: In the heart of Irvine, I heard this is one of two popular Korean supermarkets in the area. The other being Zion market. The store is smaller and older in comparison to other H Marts I've been to, but it had more than what I needed. You can definitely plan your whole days' worth of meals here. They have a large takeout food service section and an array of snacks and desserts. Parking can be hectic as most Asian supermarket lots can be. It's a hit or miss, but go off peak hours and you should be fine. Food: The banchan (side dishes) area had a variety to choose from ! I'm so happy that the majority are vegan by default such as the pickled radishes, garlic, green onions, seaweed salad, vegan kimchi (yay!), steamed sweet potatoes and fried tofu! I also saw mochi, a boba bar, sushi, purple rice, and japchae. The options are endless. I noticed their large selection of seasonal fresh fruits and veggies. Some were even better than my neighborhood H Mart in San Diego. I loved the variety and larger selection. They were decently priced as well and the quality was great! I was eying the rambutan, grapes, and persimmons! Yum! I ended up grabbing seaweed salad, pickled veggies, and fried tofu!! All were affordable and enough for two people. They tasted delicious! Quite healthy and filling. The seasonings were great and not overpowering. I especially enjoyed the seaweed salad. It was even better than most restaurant versions I've had in the past. The tofu was fried, but wasn't oily at all. They also had a large selection of noodles and hard to find Korean grocery items. Customer service: It wasn't busy and the lines were short. Yay! The cashier was quite friendly and one of the employees at the indoor cafe gave me a fork to use for my to-go premade foods. Insanely Expensive - Some Items Twice What Other Supermarkets Charge If you want an example of price gouging, this is it. Take butter, for example; they have a large selection, and the prices are almost twice what any other store sells them for. This market has a wide selection of everything, but we have never seen such rip-off prices. I spoke with some Hispanic employees stocking shelves and asked if they shop here. Their response? "You must be kidding. The prices here are crazy high." Yes, you will not find a better selection of Asian food items, but realize that you are not a customer; you are a victim. "99" Market's prices are much more realistic. Others have written about their poor customer service attitude. I did not experience that, perhaps because I am not Asian. On the plus side, it is spotless but lacks organization - they have the largest selection of instant noodles from several countries - but not in one area, instead located throughout the store. And, yes, their prices for instant noodles are crazy high when compared to other markets. This place could be so much more if greed were eliminated from management's philosophy. read more

I work close to this Hmart and live next to the one in BP. This loc has problems with tagging their prices on shelves or theyre doing it on purpose. Theres always something that rings up different and normally higher...ie. $4.49 rings up $4.99. If you dont pay attention, you prolly wont notice. I hate their setup bc their produce is very separated by everything else. So you'll be inconvenienced if you forgot to grab a certain veggie... Their saving grace is the chinese products they offer here to cater to the masses. You'll find things you normally dont find in kmarkets...like HDL hot pot soup bases, lots of bokchoy and various chinese veggies. Their arent as many chinese markets so its nice to have them offered here. As a Korean American who loves Chinese food, it's a blessing. But almost everything else is a curse at this store. Clean, great variety, good quality, and fair prices. What more would you want in a Korean market? Another pro is it doesn't (yet) have the lingering seafood smell of many asian markets. I typically frequent Zion, but if I'm in the area I also like going to H Mart. They have a bigger selection (of nearly everything), especially with the meat, produce, and ban chan. This Korean mart is my go to because it's the only place near my house where I could find SWEET CHILI CHEETOS. Okay, that's it. Go home everyone, 5/5. Okay while not as perfect as the above there are things that I like that I enjoy compared to the 99 Ranch nearby. Some good things includes: -Sweet Chili Cheetos. Seriously try it. -I personally enjoy the snack variety here more than at 99. -Has good Korean face masks here that I usually use in case I forget to order one. -Fish section is very comparable to 99. -Kimchi on point here. Buy on the weekend for the best one. -Nice and cold inside even if the summer is 100 degrees out. Only a few things I want to note about the place: -Parking: I despise the parking here. Basically, the shopping complex Diamond Jamboree seems to have 2 cars for every person here, which is annoying and often times I have to park in overflow after turning in on Millikan. - Prices are generally higher than in Ranch. But it makes up for it with the quality of snacks that imo are pretty good that I can't find elsewhere within Irvine. -Layout is one way in and one way out like Ikea. You get fresh produce first then the meat counter then the rest of the store. It's a pretty good layout that I enjoy but note that there's no fast way to get to the checkouts if you're getting just one item. You'd have to walk through quite a bit just to checkout. Crazy how much korean groceries ha e taken over in the area. Fresh veggies. Good selection of Sashimi platters.

There are so many wonderful things to buy here at H-Mart but this is located in the Diamond Jamboree plaza so it is always B U S Y !!! I also strongly dislike how slow the cashiers are and how long the lines will take. There is no express lane and even if you're only holding one item, people here have no common courtesy and would literally let you wait for them and their entire cart because they'd rather that you suffer than go in front of them for a thirty second payout. H-Mart also has some ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook options, especially with precut meats and fish. There is also a tiny food court with a bakery and restaurant that is always pretty popping so I'm assuming it's pretty good. The prices here aren't the cheapest and for some of the Asian products they're actually more expensive than 99 ranch so be wary when shopping here. Overall, it's quite a hassle coming here and I'd recommend going elsewhere like Mitsuwa or Seafood City for a SLIGHTLY less chaotic mess in Orange County. (12/100 -- 2019) read more

Even though this is probably not in the best location due to the lack of parking, this store is pretty huge and today it was packed to the brim. This store is overflowing with Asian treats and fresh produce, plus baked goodies and a restaurant to the side. The aisles are definitely cramped and through the produce area there can only be one cart at a time. I feel like this location definitely has more stock than the Mira Mesa location for sure. They also have a hot foods section, we got a couple containers of kim bap (Korean sushi) and jap chae (noodles), steamed dumpling buns filled with pork, as well as a bunch of the kids' favorite candies and treats that can't be found in a regular grocery store. We had fun perusing through the aisles and checking everything out. Would have loved to have spent more time in there, but with 4 kids and a stroller plus a cart was just too much with how hectic and busy this place was! read more

The store is awesome!! It was my first time here and the Meat Department beats out any grocery store in Southern Calif. by far!!! They had everything you could possibly imagine. It was sliced all nice and thin for stir fry's, it was all nice and fresh! I'm not sure where some of these reviews are showing old meat?? If you keep it in your refrigerator a week after you buy it it's going to be old!!! The Seafood department was outstanding!! Again they had everything!! A great place to gather K-food ingredients all in one place. Even though you might not be able to get everything you want if you're picky like me, you should be able to get most of it or something similar. The banchan (side dish) section is quite reliable. Yukgejang (spicy beef soup) is great. Most of the squid dishes as well. I do miss the OG way they used to put together the sashimi salad. It's been stripped down quite a bit but overall tastiness is still there. Freshness of the raw fish and salad greens has improved. The potato salad might be better at Zion Ramen section is quite small but be sure they have the top 10 brands. There is a large sauce section but I find it lacking for some reason. How hard is it to find a good oyster sauce? Also, I don't know why there is such a large section for oligodang (corn syrup) when they don't carry my favourite OTC kimchi brand (no worries, it's available nearby at Costco, Wholesome Choice, etc.). Produce not on sale can be more expensive than nearby supermarkets but if there is a super sale on something, the price usually can't find be beat elsewhere. read more

That same day before I got the message I had already gone to their website to complain about the incident and left my information to hear back from them. It's been way more than 48 hours and have not heard back from the store. Apparently buying things is ok but customer service is just not their gig. They have a Tour le jours (bakery) inside but you should get there early because they run out of the good stuff fast! During the whole pandemic, they would limit how many people could come in, I think one time they offered masks and another they offered gloves (but not both). But even then it was still super packed! H Mart is not in my regular rotation, but it is an option for me when I need to pick up Asian staples for when I cook. Though it is Korean centered, they have a good variety of Chinese and Japanese food products. I needed to pick up some stuff to make poke and sushi rice at home, and they had the various products I needed, included a pre-mixed sweet and vinegar add-in to turn rice into sushi rice (I typically use a dry powder I get from Mitsuwa). Prices were good, and there was plenty of fresh produce, meats, fish, and frozen food. I did show up during the pandemic, and they handed out gloves, did mask and temp checks, and had one single socially distanced line for check out. read more
