Worst bakery ever. I came in on May 29 at 4:40pm. I went to the bakery and saw no one there. I waited a bit because I heard noise so I assumed someone was back there. I went to the checkstands to ask if there was someone there or they were on break. They said there was someone there and would page them. I walk back to the bakery make eye contact with her and she walks so fast down the aisle. I really enjoyed the baked goods and cakes here and it's such a shame that I will not be going back to order a cake. As I am writing this, the bakery employee is sitting in her car and it is now 4:58PM. I hope that she is on lunch because that is one long ass break. A more upscale grocery store and sister to Vons and Albertsons. I like coming here because of the higher end selection. They have the same items for sale as Albertsons and Vons but I feel their bakery section has way more variety. They have artisanal breads, very fancy cakes for all special occasions and they even have a large cookie freshly baked for around $4 that's comparable to Bristol Farms. They also have their own alcohol and wine section that's separate and refrigerated . Same with their floral department. You can walk on and select fresh florals. They have a wider frozen foods selection as well. Overall good experience and service. read more

This store is horrible. The prices are way too high for such poor customer service. Avoid this store at all costs. Even the complaints about this store get ignored. I've come to the realization that nothing in this store is worth the aggravation of dealing with the employees. Every encounter was problematic. The one eyed produce guy is mean, rude and unhelpful. The African man in catering is rude, unprofessional and discriminatory. You can always expect to have to search long and hard for items. The layout is a little confusing to find certain products. Good luck trying to find someone to help you. No one ever asks you if you need help. No one is ever available or in sight. So you wander aimlessly through the store. At times the bathroom look like a homeless encampment. It's absolutely disgusting that no one monitors and clean it regularly. No one is ever available for access to certain alcohol. Employees don't even respond to the page over the intercom. Heaven forbid you have to stand in line for a cashier. You can expect to not be greeted or acknowledged. The cashiers will continue gossiping with each other while you wait for them to ring you up. I had Jainah for a cashier and she literally held up the line with her manager or supervisor to assist a man with his phone. I understand he really needed his discount via the mobile app. However, to then not apologize for keeping me and everyone behind me for waiting was beyond disrespectful, unprofessional, rude and uncouth. Her attitude is terrible. She didn't even acknowledge me or speak. What makes it worse is the supervisor or manager isn't any better. Oh my gosh, I love this store. It has everything you're looking for and the staff are so helpful. I love how there's a Starbucks in the store too! prices are so affordable and all of the foods are so good sometimes they are events in the store like the last event was Super Bowl event And if you get it, you get a free ticket to Super Bowl ( I think) I love the quality and the self paying area is so easy. This review is based purely on a specific item that I have been searching for years - La Fermière French Yogurt. Thank you Pavilions for bringing in La Fermière French Yogurt to your California stores! I fell in love with this yogurt at a fancy hotel in Singapore years ago and have been searching high and low ever since. No stores in Southern California (at least not that I know of) carries it, but I am glad that my search is over because Pavilions came through! I am not a fan of the Oui French Yogurt that started a few years back. It is not the same smooth velvety texture like La Fermière French Yogurt. These lovely fancy yogurts are selling for $2.99 and there is a lot of flavors to choose from. I personally like the French Vanilla the best and I wish they carried the plain ones without any flavoring, but I'm not complaining! I have never had a good experience shopping here. Listless staff, usually standing around a checkstand talking to each other and acting as if you are a ghost. Parking lot overrun by students on E-bikes. I've even seen bikes inside the store! And be warned if you need to find anything, your question will probably be answered with a sigh. Best option is self-checkout so you don't have to re-bag the groceries once you get to the car. In fact, they should put in more self-checkout stands. Pavillions Orchard Hills continues to disregard laws for keeping handicap parking spaces clear. There are always several carts in the handicap spaces. This says something about the ignorant and selfless people that shop at this location. In fact, the shopping carts locations are always full leaving customers to just leave their carts in random places. I've complained to the store manager every time I observe (so far 6 times this year) and he/she sends somebody out right away. But, why not come up with a process to ensure carts are returned regularly. How about a sign in the handicap area that says "Do Not leave Cart in Handicap Spaces? This is one of my fav grocery stores in Orange County. There's never an item that they don't have! This location has a better selection of alcohol, ice cream/desserts and flowers. It was open during Christmas which was really convenient for last minute purchases. The staff is extremely helpful and are always willing to have friendly conversations. Today i was here to pick up some groceries and noticed that there were old asian lady and young asian boy at cash register having trouble with the cashier. The cashier was hispanic lady and she was almost angry and having some bad attitude at them. I wasn't involved in that situation but felt very uncomfortable because the cashier(hispanic lady) was keep complaining about them(asians) to the other cashier even after they left. The other cashier who helped me was very kind and helpful. He was keep telling the cashier(hispanic lady) that he was able to understand all their(asians) words with no problem, she supposed to be more patient. Since I do not know the exact situation, maybe the asian lady was not fluent in english and it was very busy and bad day to the cashier but she supposed not to act emotionally because i can surely tell it was racial discrimination. Went in to the deli. Asked the mediocre female clerk with a pierced face if I can have some potato salad in the case. I was denied the salad because she closed at 8pm. The clerk claims it takes two hours to sanitize. But what she doesn't comprehend is that it takes 2.8 minutes to place a few scoops of their cage free potato salad displayed in the case into a container. Noting that the store has yet a whole hour to close being it was only 8:56pm Poor customer service and the management supported the clerks decision. When the head can't think, the feet can't walk on their own. Sad what the uneducated and common senseless minds rule over our own survival for food after 9pm. Bakery service department is always at lunch and unreliable. I waited over 30 minutes for someone to come to the bakery department so I could order a cake on a Wednesday. I asked for the cake to be ready by Friday afternoon, so more than 24 hour notice. When I arrived on Friday afternoon, I had to call the store for someone to help us (3 people waiting in line for over 30 minutes). He could not find my half sheet of cake! He kept searching and calling the manager for help. Later he found my order slip which she wrote Saturday pick up! There was nothing else I could buy to replace the cake for my party. I called back when the bakery manager was working. She could not understand what the mixup was and continued to waste my time. I asked for a discount on a cake for another event and she offered only $10 off! Complete waste of my time and won't waste more time dealing with unreliable people. Yes it's back! Missed this place, it was gone waaay too long. If you're a previous Pavilions shopper, or even have gone to Vons before, everything will look very familiar, only new and improved before the evil empire from WA took it over and ran everything badly, then shut the doors. Circa 2011-2012 this used to be my local grocery store, I could actually walk to it nearly any time of day, then it *poof* disappeared and we all had a sad. Now!! the deli, grocery aisles, and pharmacy will look most familiar as they're basically unchanged except for some signage and maybe a couple small menu changes in the deli. Starbucks is back and really exactly the same as before. In fact that's appropriate, as this is one of the first grocery stores I can remember with a Starbucks, though I still shit Peet's (which is in the same plaza) a bit more, it's always to have choices. The quick grab offerings (also deli related) are right by the front door where they always were as you'd expect, and the wine and liquor aisles are expanded and nicely improved. The bakery is spruced up and better than ever! So many new cakes and creations to try or buy. Similar quality to Paris Baguette and close to 85C but without the parking nightmare, waiting in line or sticker shock. They also have some interesting donut, brownie, and macaron creations now. The produce is high quality and selections on some snacks and gourmet items seems slightly improved. And the meat section is good as ever, no more Costco runs yeah! It is part of the whole Alberton's family of supermarkets, so you are not getting Whole Foods or Gelson's products, but you are not paying for them either. This grocery store is the only one that has 18 year old Macallan 25 year old single malt Scotch Whiskey in a locked glass cage prominently displayed at the front of the store. She went in the back and tested making an ice cream cone and it looked great! She said she would do it!! I always enjoy the fresh produce and great selection in the deli and butcher shop, that being said I'm not thrilled with the prices of some of the most basic things such as their store made tortilla chips. They are suppose to be fresh, yet mine were stale and for $4.99 a lb, (which none are just 1 lb) it cost $7.83 for one bag of stale chips. I like the Pavilions concept. The parking here is ample and access very easy. They have some of the best organic produce anywhere and they also have an excellent floral selection. You can get sushi, sandwiches and coffee as well. It's a one stop shop. Probably the best thing at this location is their selection of wine and spirits. The price on wine is fantastic and they have some hard to find champagnes as well. The meat and fish area is incredible. They have some of the finest seafood options that I have found at any store. You can't go wrong here. The one problem they have is that their Wi-Fi is terrible. It never holds the connection and it's weak at best. It isn't my phone either since it's the latest iPhone and I zero Wi-Fi connection problems anywhere else. That's it for issues though. read more

I am a regular shopper of this store for some months now but JUST because of convenience (there is no other grocery store in the immediate vicinity). I was putting off the idea of writing the review for some time but something happened that made me write this review. Last week I was shopping for some (energy) bars and came across some bars on which BEST BEFORE date was well (6-10 months) past. While checking out, I told that to the cashier about those bars. The manager was nearby so she informed him and manager's casual reaction was "OOO yeah that's a very bad thing" and then crickets. No thanks, no urgency to take the old food off the shelf. So I went in yesterday and was picking up some bars from the same aisle, saw those bars exactly where they were like a week ago. No action was taken on the report. With the high prices they charge at least they should make sure that they are selling the food of highest quality. (see pics of the bars that I took last night) Other than these bars, I have observed that in the freezer & Bread section too. Pros: - the store is clean and well organized - produce are fresh - plenty of parking Cons: - Food on the shelves for which Best Before has well passed - Over-priced products on every shelf. - Unfriendly service.
