They have stuff here that is reasonably priced for some Asian items I like to frequently use, like soy sauce, kelp, sashimi grade fish, ect. which is better priced than places like Mitsuwa Market, and less sketchy than our friends at the 99 Ranch Market (No hate to my homies at the 99Ranch, I just can tell the employees at Hmart take pride in keeping their store tidy and their stuff looking fresh, and organized). I love their meat aisles, and I like that they stock a good variety of different things like bones for making stocks and whatnot. The vegetable aisles are also well stocked, and for the most part, the store is clean. My only complaints would be that sometimes, the signage for produce is a bit disorganized, and checkout is like an LA traffic jam on a holiday if you get there later than 10am. It can also get crowded there because is small, and the employees are... well they're present, but it's kind of hard to ask them questions sometimes. (This is why 99 Ranch Market still gets my loyalty for many things I like to buy, because even the staff that doesn't speak English will go out of their way to help me get good seafood and the random things I like to buy from an Asian grocery store that I may not know where its stocked. Hmart can learn something from them, in that good customer service is sometimes just engaging with a customer who looks lost to help out where they can.) Also, it's a little annoying to have the rice in a place where I can't compare prices, since its after the checkout area. And last but not least, it's far away from where I live. (But thankfully one will be opening near me soon) Overall, Hmart good. Go shop there. The only regret you may have is the traffic jam at checkout, the crappy parking because people dont know how to drive ( not Hmarts fault btw), but it's well worth it because Hmart has good selection of foodstuffs you will enjoy. Asian food is my favorite ever. Hmart has everything you need if you're craving delicious, authentic, asian food. From Kimchi everything (kimchi fried rice, cucumbers, cabbage, scallions, etc.), to korean pancakes, calpico, boba ice cream bars, tofu soup, bibimbap, kimbap, sesame oil. soju, to thousands of other things! Fresh produce like bok choy, shitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, onions, fruits, and all that good stuff are all at Hmart, as well. read more

H-Mart is a Korean grocery store which has a small food court inside to eat at, including a Chicken and Pizza eatery that adds a Korean twist to an all-American staple cuisine. The grocery store has lots of vegetables, meats, seafood and fresh items along with packaged and frozen Asian goods. The staff are generally friendly and nice, 'tho one Ajumma at the cash register seemed agitated and less than welcoming or friendly, but that's par for the course with many of the Culture, so it's not surprising nor offensive. I'd recommend shopping here if you're in the area, similar to S-Mart, another Korean supermarket, it has most of what you'd look for in Asian foods, a bit smaller and different than Chinese focused 99 Ranch (or is it Ranch 99?) as well as Japanese focused Mitsuwa, Tokyo Central, Marukai, etc., but solid and reliable. Parking on this side of the shopping mall tends to be a lot easier than the other side where all of the restaurants are located. read more

Very clean, bright. Mainly a Korean supermarket, with both fresh and packaged food, although there are some other asian foods represented. They also have a small food court -- with various kinds of kim bap, prepared korean foods, and pastries (amongst other things). Lots of different kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables. To me, this is a bit on the pricier side of grocery stores, though. And I can't always find what I'm looking for--at times I feel the selection is a bit limited. Also, there is a lot of plastic packaging (cling wrap) around so many of their fresh food items. Seems a bit wasteful. read more

I always stop by H mart when I'm in the plaza eating. This supermarket has done a great job handling the covid situation. Before you walk in they offer gloves to all guests. They also make sure you are 6 feet apart at the register. Once there is room, someone tells you which lane to go in. Of course there is a glass wall and hand sanitizer provided. I always come here for asian snacks and drinks. I was able to get a box of the boba ice cream bars on my last visit. I've gone other times and they ran out. read more

My family and I went to H-mart at 2600 Alton Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92606 on 3/17/24 in the afternoon. After a cashier scanned all items. My husband put them under the cart because my daughter sat in the shopping cart. WE PAID THE BILL. A security stopped us and asked if we paid for the tomato bag. We said yes and showed him the receipt, but he did not look at the receipt. He said okay, but he stopped us while we were going to our car. He said the cashier told him we did not paid for it. My husband showed him the receipt again which includes tomato and other items, but the security made us to go back to the cashier for double check. People looked at us like we are thieves. they checked and saw that we had already PAID for everything we bought. My daughter got hungry and wanted to eat, and I was carrying my 8 month old baby; it's annoying that I had to go back and forth while carrying my baby due to the staffs' mistakes. The security guard kept blaming the cashier. I attached the receipt here, and you can see TOMATOES. If the security cannot read, he can count. We bought a few items; if number of items in the cart matched total number of items on receipt, there was no issue. The cashier was Victoria; I didn't catch the security's name. This is a great Hmart location. They have way more of a selection than my the hmart I usually go to. For example they have sushi rolls which are buy one get one half off after 1 P.M. I got the Alaska roll and the rainbow roll (came out to $14) to share with my bf and it was perfect. They also had different types of bimbap like beef and ham. Typically I only see fish cake at other locations! Lastly, another reason why I was so impressed with this hmart location is that they had every single type of buldak flavor you can think of! This was my first visit to this market. Its not very visible from the main street and yiu have to look for the sign to find the market. Parking is very challenging especially with drivers who don't respect pedestrians with shopping carts. Once inside, the produce section is great with limited fresh bakery items next to them. The hot food section has a good variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes ready to take home to eat or have in your car. Great meat and seafood displays,cespecially the large and alive jumbo shrimp in the large aquarium. The packaged noodles is decent but prices tend to be on the higher side for these items. The aisles are narrow and people tend not to move for you as you navigate the store. Overall, a good find for itemscI usually consume and tend to gravitate towards. read more

Definity one my my favorite grocery marts to go to without a doubt. Not only is my favorite snack spot located inside, but the variety of meets is perfect for my liking. They also do have a couple of Korean restaurants inside, but I have never tried it. The meet section is pretty insane, they have cuts of meets that seems exclusive, with marbling uncomparable when seen side by side to Walmart, etc. They also do have a couple of marinated meet which is always a pleasure to get since it makes cooking so much easier; having a Korean taste on the get-go. They also do have sashimi section, with prices being so fair. Salmon, tuna, squid, and much more. They also have another section dedicated to korean traditional snacks such as sundae, pork leg, sushi, don's, mochi's, japchae, etc. Perfect for a quick snack that is very price friendly. Their frozen section is very unique as well. Being an asian market, you could find fired korean mozzarella stick, shumai, and all. Always a solid run when going there. The only downside, which is technically not a downside would be how cold the meet section is hehe. read more

Boy oh boy...this is one place I wished we had back home...they offer so much and the quality looks so amazingly high...I basically was so envious of everyone shopping here since they were all locals. They also offer a steam table, cold and hot where you could pack up a box and take it to go, and the selections looked pretty nice. I really enjoy Kimchi and this place has so many different kinds that you could call this place Kimchi heaven! Fresh seafood selections were also amazing and so fresh looking too; I also noticed that the smell of fish wasn't really present showing how well this place is up kept. Beef selections were also incredibly great too so take out the grill and get ready to have the best dinner ever...and I wish that was me talking. THEY GOT EVERYTHING !!! It's truly a pleasure to shop at this H Mart. This is what abundance look like. Fresh seafood and meat. Fresh fruits and veggies. I even found old Thrifty Ice cream here (Thrifty used to have an ice scream stand in the front end of their store and their pharmacy in the back before they sold to Rite Aid back in the day). After I shop here, sorry to say but Ralph or Stater Bros look a little depressing. H Mart has good variety of goods from Chinese, Korean, Japanese.. like you can find Rock Sugar and stuff here. I like H Mart because it's clean but this review solely goes out to the employees. I used the bathroom and one of the employee did not wash her hands and came out of the bathroom. I was hesitant to ask her to wash her hands because we are still in a pandemic and she is the worker there. I regret it now... but... this just sits wrong with me you know? Great Korean grocery store including a beautiful bakery, some fast hot food shops, and then the regular store which has produce, hot and cold food on the go, snacks, drinks, small housewares, frozen foods, etc. Live, large prawns in tanks at the back. I just stopped in to browse, I didn't make a purchase, but shop was well lit, clean, well stocked and everything looked delicious. Definitely recommended. Shopping center was super busy but I did find parking in front of this store. :) read more

Hole in a wall! But with a modern welcoming environment! Selected vendor with their authentic twist. My dad, 88 years old was ecstatic with the Tonkatsu Ramen. So was I. Good portion and great broth! HORRIBLE customer service from an older Korean lady at the service desk. I didn't get her name. I got food poisoning from whatever food I ate last night - bought fresh noodles, mushrooms, and other fresh produce. I never had a problem with the non-perishable items like chips and cookies. A few months ago I bought another kind of fresh noodle pack and got a really bad reaction, but I didn't think to contact the store. So this second time around, I got really bad nausea, acid reflux, and diarrhea. How am I supposed to know which food exactly caused it? I just want to play it safe and return all the perishable/fresh produce/fresh items. Why would I give it a second chance and risk getting sick again? Ridiculous! No thanks. Normal American grocery stores quickly refund your items without even asking for an explanation. And they place recall notices when that situation arises. HMart on the other hand--wants to shove it under a rug and pretend nothing happened. So what happens if I continued eating all the food and ended up in the ER or urgent care? Who's going to pay for that bill? It's better just to have proper customer service, refund it, then check back on quality control so other customers don't get sick. Anyways, before I arrived, I called over the phone, briefly explaining the situation, and she said to come in and bring my receipt. So we came in and explained the situation and she kept gaslighting me, talking over me, and getting mad when I kept asking her to LET US TALK. I literally had to raise my voice and ask her to STOP. Thankfully Jenny the manager stepped in to take care of the returns and she seemed more reasonable. I just hate that I had to deal with this nonsense after what I went through the night before, I was up all night and sick. From an American Asian to you Hmart--do better. The market is located at a very convenient complex, it is closed to a lot of restaurants and dessert places. I like how the market organizes. Neat and clean. They place the discounted items on the rear end of the aisle for easy finding. The market also has a lot of ready made food, convenient for a grab-and-go after a day at work. Probably one of the most popular Korean grocery store for Irvine for higher ended products. Everyone goes to two Korean markets that are always popular, Zion market and H. Market. There is another H. Market opening at the old Albertson location at Northpark Square shopping center, but the opening date has been delayed for some reason. It may be the pandemic or something else. I strongly recommend this place for multiple reasons. They have very best and freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables. They have hard to find Korean grocery items. This place is great! For someone who lives in a pretty isolated town with no diversity (race and cuisine) full of american food, i had to travel 30 minutes to get here and it did not disappoint. I was thinking beat up market full of Korean food (like what im used to up in the bay area) but it was actually a clean, organized, with all things you need Korean. Walked in and turned right, saw few shelvings full of pastries and bread. Before that there were Korean cosmetics which i thought was pretty cool since i bought a few stuff korean made before and loved em. Vegetable galore and freezers full of marinated meat (bought kalbi and it was deeeelicious). Overall its a nice market, definitely found my go-to (and only) place to fulfill my cravings. I frequent this H-Mart quite often. Main reason is that its out of convenience because it's near so many other restaurants and shops. The parking lot is constantly full and cramped. Even though there are plenty of options of parking, there is just always tons of people here. My advice? Be patient and park in the back or at the top of the parking garage. This isn't really Hmart's fault, just more so of the shopping plaza. The fruit, veggies, and meat is always fresh. I like the side section that has all the marinated meat ready to go. There generally are samples too for you to try. Catch them on a Sat or Sunday and you can easily have plenty of snacks to keep your tummy happy while you grocery shop! A nice bonus here is the very far left aisle has some of the non-Asian grocery basics that you generally need, milk, bacon, eggs, orange juice, etc. read more

Whenever I need to get Asian condiments or some to go food for lunch for convenience, I shop here at H Mart. Why ? Their prices are great, the market is clean, when I arrived, there was worker handled me gloves and pointed to ke a sanitized cart. I took away one star because they don't enforce the social distancing since most of the shoppers didn't respect the 6ft distance. The prices and varieties of produces are great with many choices especially if you look for Asian kinds of produced such as bok choi, jicama, daikon, their prices are great company to Vons or Albertson etc... The most I like and buy often is the deli department, always filled up of freshly made food to go, since their buffer counter is closed, the counter all wrapped is full. The condiments area is full of varieties as well so I have to spend quite a few minutes to "study" which products I should buy and it made shopping the first time there a little long. Same thing happened in Ramen isle, rice and noodles isles...But once you had been there and know exactly what you want then it's easy and faster. Parking : it's easier now with many restaurants closed because of no indoor and outdoor seating but during pre-Covid it could be annoying especially after 6pm as ppl come to to this Jamboree Diamond for restaurants. One of the first H Marts I've visited in the O.C. I was first impressed with the larger operation here because this place is HUGE! Take a walk inside and the Produce section is literally like a forest here! Tons of vegetable varieties that makes you want to stock up your refrigerator at home with all of it. They also have some ready-made entrees and food items like Sushi, both Korean and Japanese style, Korean side dishes like Kimchi, oysters, Egg Pancakes, and much more. And if you're hungry, there's some hot food items for sit-down, so you can eat before your shop...or, switch it up. I like this H Mart, but it can be overwhelming. There's just a lot of stuff here! Parking can be crazy and as for that shady Hispanic security guard...he does act weird and follow or stare at people in the store. Just don't pay attention to him and go shopping! read more

We recently discovered H Mart and we are in LOVE! This store has great deals, a huge assortment of all the things you could need to make a good meal, plus more. We already came here quite a few times in less than a month and we're definitely planning on coming back again and again. Gold medal - Convenient Location to me :) Silver medal - Decent Prices Bronze medal - Cleaniness of the market H Mart is the closest asian market to my house. The prices at H Mart is a bit more expensive than 99 Ranch Market, but alot cheaper than Ralphs and Albertsons. This market is very clean and all the products and produce is displayed nicely and orderly. The fresh seafood selection at Ranch 99 market is more extensive than H mart. I would go to Ranch 99 market instead if you are shopping for seafood. Cheapest to most expensive super markets: -Chinese Super Markets (ex. Ranch 99 Market) -Korean Super Market (ex. H Mart, Fresia) -Indian Super Market (ex. Wholesomes Choice) -American Super Market (ex. Ralphs, Albertsons) With the extra dollars paid the produce also comes cleaner, so the ranking from cheapest to most expensive also means cleanest to dirtiest produce. When I buy spinach at Ranch 99 Market, I need to wash the spinach about 4 time to get it clean and my sink is full of dirt. When I buy spinach from Wholesomes Choice, I wash it about 3 times and there is some dirt in the sink. When I buy spinach from Ralphs the spinach is clean already and just needs a rinsing. Price difference is about 4 times more at Ralphs for Spinach than at Ranch 99 Market. So I guess the real question here is, "Would you rather take the time to wash your spinach 4 times more or pay 4 times more the price for your spinach?" HAPPY SPINACH SHOPPING!! read more

Ghetto and dirty inside. The parking lot is always littered with shopping carts in the parking spaces. People too lazy to put their carts back and nobody is there to clean up the carts. Also they had a sign that say 3 / $9.99 of the cold noodles but apparently it wasn't in the system so the lady didn't believe us. We had to make her walk to the sign to see it for herself. Then she called the manager to confirm that it was no longer on sale even though the signs were still out. Instead of just ringing us up again they manager did some wacky hand math which was WRONG the first time. She spend at least 30 minutes doing math and walking back and forth to the sale sign... How much time did we have to waste waiting for this mess to clear? All of this just to save $2?!? Is it really worth it. They couldn't just give us the discount that they advertised in the first place? I don't understand the logic here. But at least we wasted enough time to get called for our wait at the restaurant. So that's the only positive thing that came from the incident. Because after waiting a half hour of our time and building up a massive line behind us (which is embarrassing), they didn't even offer us the $2 off in the end or anything. So we just decided not to buy it in the end. Also I found sushi (yes raw tuna rolls) sitting on a tray in an UNREFRIDGERATED area. What the heck? Did a customer leave it there like they leave their carts out or did one of the workers think raw fish didn't need to be refrigerated. So much ghetto and weird things going on at this particular H Mart. And I normally love H Mart but this is totally unacceptable! read more
