One of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had . I wasn't even there two minutes when I was approached by a Planned Funeral Service! Pushy sales people trying to get my phone number and personal information. I just wanted to buy my vegetables and get out .Will not be returning ever again.Not to mention I was scanning my items at the Self checkout station when an employee grabbed my bag of avocados and re-scanned them without even explaining what she was doing ,she made me feel like I was trying to cheat the store on the size of avocado I was buying,they were very small avocados and she explained these were large. Very Rude employee at self checkout on a Monday morning, at this point, I was insulted and wanted to return the avocados, but she had to call in a manager. It seemed not worth it to me. Every single day I cruise right past this place on my way to work. Once in a while I will stop by to get tortilla chips to go with my guacamole and Salsa. On a good day their shelves are FULL. Fresh tortillas, meats, fruits and veggies, ect. With the Corona Virus, I will admit I did worry when 99% of the stores had empty shelves. I came here on my lunch break and surprisingly I was able to get EVERYTHING on my list. Which wasn't a whole lot, just the basics. Plenty of produce!! Every color potatoe I needed. Onions, bananas, fruits, ect. Lots of bread. The employees are super friendly. I was able to ask a few employees in Spanish where to find certain items. They were all able to direct me to where items were. Except for 1. He lied to me and told me there was no more rice. Luckily, I asked someone else who pointed to the secret box that had a few lonely bags left. Score! Cashiers are friendly. Most are bilingual. Located off Main St in Santa Ana near Edinger. While me and my fiancé were waiting he instantly provided assistance. We wanted the jumbo shrimp which was sold out. On September 21st, 2022 I went to the Superior Supermarket located at 17street in Santa Ana, CA 92705 and after paying for my merchandise I proceeded to the parking lot and discovered that I had left my car keys on the ignition. I went back to the store and ask to talk to the manager and this lady told me not worry and took position of my cart while I contacted the AAA. The mechanic showed up quite soon and took care of my problem. I went to the store to get my cart and this wonderful lady went to the back of the store where the merchandise is kept and brought my cart in a safe and courteous manner. We recently purchased capirotada from this location. The label on the item that we took home does not list walnuts as an ingredient. My daughter, who is allergic to walnuts, ate a small amount and after she suffered an allergic reaction did we realize that the product was made with walnuts. After looking at the label again, we realized that the product's label is too small to list all of the ingredients and allergens and is cut off. Luckily my daughters reaction was somewhat mild, but this could have been much worse. I emailed customer service and sent a message via FB on Friday 3/8 and to date, no response. They need to completely shut down their meat packing unit. It smells soo bad, and I got sick from eating their meat. DO NOT BUY THEIR MEAT.

So you wanna make tamales and you're wondering where can you get all the ingredients on the cheap? Well I'm gonna help you out. First things first, are you going to make your own masa? This can be a big decision for some with a few factors involved. If you don't want to make your own masa you can buy it pre made in the bakery section by the 5 to 8 pound bag. The downside to this is they use lard which is NOT vegetarian friendly. The upside is you don't have to make it yourself saving you time in the kitchen. Given that it was my first tamale making experience I chose to buy it since I was fearful that I wouldn't make it with the correct consistency. If you are going to make the masa yourself you will be able to find all the ingredients here as well. Ok now that you have that figured out head to the produce area and load up on cheap produce to make sauce for your tamales. We made chipotle sauce, tomatillo sauce and smoked jalapeno sauce. So we needed tons of dried chiles, they are located directly behind the produce on the back wall. They have every dried chile you could ever want. Once you're done head to the butcher section and don't forget to take a number otherwise you will be standing there quite a while. Pick your meat. I would suggest getting a recommendation from the butcher about the cut of meat, let them know that you are using the meat for tamales. The man who assisted me was helpful and recommended a brisket cut which is ideal for shredded beef tamales. Just past the meat you will find the deli section filled with rich crema and cojita cheese. I would recommend buying this instead of the pre packed kind this way you can control the amount you buy and you can guarantee you are getting the freshest products. Next stop find a tamale steamer. I found a large one sitting at the end of a display and for only $13! This is a steal. I checked out Bed Bath and Beyond the day prior and they were selling them for $35. Tired? Well find your second wind because you haven't yet conquered the check out line. Make you way over, load up your goods and remember you are bagging these groceries yourself so get to work. Look at you! I am so proud. You are a third of the way done with the tamale making process so reward yourself on your way out and stop at the churro stand because these lovely warm cinnamon sugar sticks are only two for a dollar. read more

I guess I'm the first review for this place! I've been coming here for the past few weeks, after seeing some commercials for it on TV. It's organized, and this place is *HUGE*. Staff people are friendly, helpful and all of them speak both English and Spanish fluently, if that is a problem for you in the Santa Ana area. It's basically like a Super market/Mercado/Costco food section all in one place. They've got your normal bakery, food aisles, hot prepared food, produce, household items, etc. While some of the produce quality is questionable, how can you beat 5 small avocados for $1? Or 10lbs of white onions for $1? Great place for big families or party shopping. I won't question the quality for anything else here. I have tried some of the baked goods, and they are SO good. The bundt cakes are delicious and the fresh tortilla chips are to die for. The prices are great here! You can check their website for advertised savings, but in general I think you can save a lot here. The only thing is that you have to bag your own groceries, so bring someone along with you! Plus for it being in a nicer part of Santa Ana (as it borders the Tustin/CM/Irvine area), so I'm not worried about bums going around. Also would like to mention that they take tons of different types of payment options. Normal cash/credit is taken, along with checks and I've seen some people use government issued things like food stamps and from the program to give mothers money for infants. Good place to go for if: - You're on a budget. Some of the deals you can get here are crazy good! - You have a partner to shop with. One person pays while the other bags. - Love freshly baked goods, like bread, cakes and Mexican specialties. - Need lots of fried chicken for a get together or party. For whatever reason in the hot food section, they have lots of advertised deals for their fried chicken. - Need to buy a lot of food for a party. Produce and meat here are cheap! - Looking for Mexican specialties along with your normal super market fare in a Costco-type of an environment (without dealing with club cards). read more

This is an update on this store from my original review. After shopping here for a few months I've learned what to buy and what not to buy, whats lines to go to and what people to avoid. The veggies are usually in good condition but the fruit do be careful sometimes its cheap for a reason, make sure it still looks fresh and not rotting. Stay away from the meats, gotten sick from them before, learned my lesson the hard way. Dont go on wends or evenings the lines are ridiculous, do go during the week in the morning or lunch time. Stay away from the manager that wears glasses he is a total dick, very rude, just go to a different cashier if he is working that day. This place has great prices on produce. Produce is fresh, and they last a very long time! I'm not sure if it's my refrigerator at home or what, but the produce I buy from here (especially the broccoli), lasts 2.5 - 3 weeks! Wowzers. There is also a large selection on different cuts and types of beef, chicken, and pork. However, I will warn you that some of the beef/chicken/pork do look questionable (the coloring), so it's up to you to decide on if you want to get the meat here or not. If you're craving some Mexican bread or tortillas, there's a a bakery/bread section that's right near the entrance. The staff here seems friendly, as I have never asked for any help before, or have never experienced anything negative. After you check out, you bag your own groceries. This is where shopping with another person would come in handy - one person pays, while the other bags. I have shopped here by myself on a couple of occasions, and by the time I have time to start bagging my groceries, the cashier is already ringing up the next customer. My mum likes to shop here. She says they've got the best deals and well ... mommy is always right. I've been here numerous times and I really do think they've got some of the best deals out there. If you like authentic mexican bread with a nice selection to choose from this is your spot. You can watch as they bake any type of bread and cakes and they're all very pleasant to the taste buds. My mom likes to buy mexican french bread to make sandwiches or as she calls them; tortas. The little bolillos are usually 5 for $1 and sometimes even 6 for $1 and they are normally baked every half hour to an hour on the weekend so you can always be guaranteed fresh fluffy warm bread. Across from the bakery they have their tortilleria where they make tortillas and tortilla chips from scratch. If you're there at the right time you can witness them work the machinery and bag the tortillas, but if you're lucky they'll allow you to sample their tortillas so you can taste the freshness for yourself. This store has fresh produce galore. They dont just have basic fruits and vegetables they actually have a very good selection of whatever it is you need && for cheap prices! The staff has never disappointed, they're all extremely helpful and with friendly smiles on their faces. The staff that works here looks like they're happy to have a job and look happy to be at work. Any questions you might have they'll always try and answer them and if they cant they'll try and get it for you anyway. read more

Produce is cheap.. usually because it's bad or going bad so make sure you're going to use it right away. Meat can be cheap sometimes so keep you eye on the weekly paper to get the best prices. They have fresh made tortillas and salsa/guacamole available so these are definite pluses in my book. Other than that I wouldn't recommend this place for anything else, all other basics are about average.. not sure the pros outweigh the cons of waiting in line for at least 20 minutes every time at the register. I'll probably keep going to Stater Bros as my go to for my grocery needs. read more

I just shopped here for the first time last week, and I couldn't believe how many items I regularly buy that are priced lower than Walmart let alone other grocery stores. I buy big bags of ice, 3.99 for 20# bag, Walmart they are 4.99, and I like the ice because the chunks are smaller. I also have never seen a better produce selection at a grocery store, and the prices on average were very good. I still think the Asian Supermarket on Beach and McFadden still is the king of produce, price and quality is unmatched unless you go to a farmer's market. Overall, I saved nearly twenty bucks on my shopping trip, pretty damn good considering I only spent sixty bucks. At Walmart it would have been about eighty. The only caveat is the selection is limited on most items. Don't expect to find ten different brands of clover honey, or a big selection of Asian items on the 'ethnic' isle, ( is the re such a thing as an ethnic isle at a Mexican market?) The meat selection was decent, and the prices were great. A package of chorizo for .79 cents?! Or queso fresco, I never knew there were so many varieties! And for cheap! So basically, if you're looking for run of the mill items, and since decent south of the border food items then this place is pretty cool. I haven't experienced the line nightmares that others have, but can agree that I've never seen more than three registers open. Oh yeah, they also have a Metro PCS store in one corner, across from the jewelry store! Pretty cool store with lots of stuff to offer. I got the handmade tortillas, though my wife makes great ones, but I had read these were pretty good. I concur, while not quite what my wife makes, it's much better than what you would find in most other stores. Definitely worth the $2 for a huge stack. They also had my favorite hot sauce, Picamas! This is a good place to score deals on produce, meat, cheese, tortillas, bottled water, mexican sodas, lots of things. Most produce looks great, but some is not so fresh. I've skipped the oranges for a month now because they look bad. There is a panaderia and bolillos are usually 5/$1. You can pick up tasty marinated meat at the meat counter, but I've noticed the meat selection is hit or miss sometimes. I started shopping there in the early morning to avoid the long checkout lines. There is an older woman that asks for money in the parking lot and she tries to make you feel bad if you say you don't have anything. I helped her out the first time, but it has become obvious this is her occupation. Management should tell her to stop bothering shoppers. Overall, it's good because I get the things I buy most at great prices and I can deal with the rest. The store on 17 th is a bit better but not as close to me. read more

The worse experience ever we just left superior and my mom and I had our own items we both had about 13 items which is still not even a lot we asked her if we can go in the express lane the girl (LESLIE) with a fake smile on her face kept saying no so we left it alone for a second I look to my right again and the next 2 customers that were next had 20 plus items I was so fucking mad and she let them go so as soon as we paid for our items I HAD to tell her something obviously I'm not going to stay quiet I said" I thought you said this was the express lane" her sarcastic ass said "well I didn't see them" how can you not see them with a shit load of items in there basket makes no sense !!!!
