This place is own by 3 sisters . I spoke with one of them and she said they've only been open for a month and I was surprised bc it felt like they've been open for longer . The food was great and she was so nice . I found it on yelp and I'm glad I did . This will be a place we go to next time we are near by! Try the seafood fried rice ! It's so good!! Also affordable ! read more

There green sauce is to die for! My girlfriend had gone and told me about it because she knows I love me some green sauce & rotisserie chicken. The place is brand new. They don't get as much business as they should because of their location on Austin st. However highly recommend this place juicy chicken and amazing service! read more

I gave this place a try late on a pleasant Saturday night. The decor is all over the place, in my humble opinion. It's your standard hardwood tables, exposed brick walls, and with quirky photos adorning the walls, in this case llamas with glasses on. The restaurants in the suburbs have have their "random crap adorning the walls" and restaurants here in the city have "quirky photos adorning the walls." However, walking in, unless you are glued to your phone or completely lost in thought, you cannot help but notice the piano along the right wall. I could not help but think "...What is that doing here? Is it just for the decor? Does anyone working here play it? Do they hire someone to come in and play sometimes? If a diner who could play the piano asked to play it, would the staff politely decline or would they let them play?" The latter, and hiring someone, would make for interesting dining experiences, that's for sure. What's not to like about enjoying your ceviche or roasted chicken while listening to Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14? I also could not help but notice a projector mounted to the ceiling about 10 feet in front of the entrance, complete with a mostly retracted screen. They were showing a soccer game on Univision on a television to the screen's left so I could not help but wonder if the projector was even operable. I'm assuming they plan on showing sporting events with it, and football season is right around the corner as of the time of this review. Also, as of this review, they did not have their liquor license, so the bottles behind the bar were mixers with empty green bottles between them. Another thing I noticed were the numerous typos on the menu. I'm a stickler for the written word so I have an eye for this sort of thing. Chicken and beef stripes instead of strips, boild instead of boiled, etc. It... is not a good look to have typos on one's restaurant's menu, let alone as many as I saw. Anyway, I hope you come to a restaurant for the food, not the decor, and thankfully the food was pretty good, in my opinion. Not fantastic, but certainly not mediocre or worse. I had the seco de carne (beef and cilantro stew), served with rice and canary beans. The meat was tender and juicy, but I did not taste any cilantro at all. When I see cilantro mentioned in a dish, I expect it to be quite strong. Maybe my taste buds are too used to strong cilantro. The canary beans were mild, but I knew that's just how canary beans are, and it was nothing a decent amount of aji verde and pepper didn't fix. Portion size was quite good as well; I'm a 6'6" man and left full. My friend got the "Peruvian Roast Beef" sandwich, described as slow cooked beef, and he really enjoyed it. The portion size here was also large; it was easily the size of those huge sandwiches you get in Jewish delis. He described it as extremely tender and flavorful, mentioning cilantro and not overpowering regarding spices. In summation, good food, great portions, but some rough edges that need to be filed down (menu typos for me, primarily). They have not been open long as of this review so they've got time to hopefully look into said rough edges. read more

Very pleased with the food. It is authentic and delicious. I do not remember the specific name but I had a seafood platter with yuca and rice in a cream sauce. Seafood was cooked and prepared perfectly. Flavor was excellent. Fresh and tender seafood. read more

Saw some solid Yelp reviews and decided to give this place on the far side of Austin street a shot. Peruvian food is known for some food flavor so I had high hopes for this place. I ordered the lomo saltado, pesto pasta with chicken, quarter chicken combo and side of maduros. Let's break it down. Lomo saltado is to use skirt steak the beef tasted and looked like cubed to larger pieces of chuck. Lots of fries and rice in this dish. Would rather have more tomatoes and onions and beef. Beef itself was quite chewy. Pesto pasta had lots of sauce but tasted like more cream then the basil. Pasta was cooked well, but the added grilled chicken was over seasoned. Quarter chicken looked a little sad on the larger plate. The salad that came with it had some watered ranch type of dressing. The chicken had some parts of pink and will be reheated at home for later. All in all pretty disappointing for a $50 meal for two. Hope they can get better read more

WOW WOW WOW! I'm very picky with Peruvian food, being Peruvian you have to be. Nothing better than my moms cooking, but this place!? Head to head with my moms cooking. My daughter even said she only wants my moms food. We had her try the Tallerines verdes here and she loved it!!!!! read more

I love this place! They have incredible empanadas, chicken, and rice! It's honestly the best. I have no words.

We had a combination with a whole chicken, rice and beans, salad, French fries with hotdog. Everything was excellent. Nice friendly service and quick turnaround. Recommend! read more

The best Peruvian chicken in Forest Hills/Rego Park area. The restaurant is pretty big which is surprising because the place that was here before was practically a hole in the wall (unless I'm remembering the wrong one). Anyway, the chicken is a really nice size, so getting half will definitely fill you up. Calamari is nicely coated and fried. I don't know if I missed it in the sit down menu, but if you're looking for the staple of chicken, rice, and beans, they do it for take out/Seamless. read more

I was worried that I wouldn't have a great go-to for Peruvian moving from LIC to Forest Hills, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find Amar. Food was fantastic and a great value. I had the Chicken Chicharron, with maduros instead of tostones and my wife had the vegan parrilla. The food was absolutely delicious, we will be back soon and often! read more

I have visited here many times. When the owner is there the service is excellent. Yesterday the service was terrible. First off, we were told there were not any lunch specials when clearly there were. My friend wanted yuca fries instead of french fries in her pollo saltado. The woman stated it was $1 to change it and my friend said okay. When the dish came the onions were still raw in both the pollo saltado and lomo saltado. Onions cook pretty quickly so I'm not sure why they were raw but the tomatoes were cooked. The bill came and we gave our cards, paid tip and signed. We had our jackets on and were standing up to leave and thats when the other woman came over and said she forgot to charge us the $1 difference AND ASKED US TO CHANGE OUR TIP! We said that this was not our error. The first woman who was rude to us then began arguing from behind the bar saying that she forgot to tell the second woman about the $1 charge. I said that it was not our fault and it was theirs and we already paid. She then began pointing her finger and yelling at us. Completely unacceptable over $1. What ever happened to the customer is always right?!? Especially if it is an error on the staff!!! You forgot to charge and and we paid and were already standing to leave. It's sad because this business just lost two regular customers. read more

Quality and authentic peruvian cuisine. It is super difficult to find a peruvian place (at least in Brooklyn) that is consistently serving quality food. The food here is so great. So flavorful. The attention by the staff is also amazing. I was in queens and looked up the top restaurants in the area I was in and Amar popped up. I took a chance, so glad I did, and my sister and mom and I were impressed. We were greeted and quickly seated on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered Jalea, breaded chicken and a arroz chaufa con mariscos. Two maduros came with the chicken and they were sweet. If you think I am easily impressed I am not I just have been to a number of peruvian places that are mediocre at best. But Amar's plate all had incredible flavor. The food was HOT and fresh. You can immediately tell the seafood is fresh. The onions that top the Jalea was so citrusy and perfect to cut the fat of the fried seafood. They added so many thoughtful touches in each plate. Everything was so good .I took and order of food to go. Chaufa and chicken combo, these entrees really sold me. Usually you aren't given an option to get both. But they have these perfectly composed plates of chaufa and chicken with a side salad. It is on the pricier side but totally worth it. read more

1 star because I tried to help a new Peruvian restaurant but unfortunately am highly disappointed. My partner didn't like his meal but I'm here to talk about mine. I ordered "pesto" which is usually labeled "tallarin verde." I love tallarin verde. I am Peruvian and it is my utmost favorite dish. I order it everywhere and is the gauge I use for Peruvian restaurants that are new to me. I have a checklist: color, consistency, and flavor. Color must be dark green with a creamy consistency and just taste good. That's it! I make this at home all of the time it's not hard. The dish comes out, color is soo light green, strike one. I can also slightly see the color of the noodles itself, upon closer inspection there is SO MUCH OIL. I try to still give it a chance. Flavor is there but as I eat more I uncover even MORE OIL. It was practically swimming in oil underneath. I poured so much out and yet there was still so much left. I couldn't enjoy my meal it was so upsetting. I ask the waitress if this is how it's suppose to be she said "Yes". WHAT?! How?! "It's the cream." In what world is heavy cream SUPER OILY? That's another thing, the waiters were messing up so hard and I was trying to look past it but her defensive attitude and unapologetic behavior really turned me off. Both servers were bringing over wrong plates not even knowing what we ordered. This place is a mess overall. It was my boyfriend's and mine 2nd year anniversary and what a horrible place I chose to commemorate. So mad. Also, I don't know if this guy was the owner but my partner told him and he was apologetic but okay what is your "sorry" suppose to do? If you're really sorry then take it off my bill. Paid over $50 for two plates and a small appetizer. DO NOT COME HERE. I TRIED TO GIVE THIS PLACE A CHANCE AND SUPPORT BUT THEY DONT CARE ABOUT QUALITY OR THEIR PATRONS. I am a server for over 5 years (not anymore) as well as my partner who is a cook. We both have worked closely with and in kitchens with the chefs/owners and this place was absolute trash. I wish I left without paying, would have been equal. read more

The food here is so delicious and quality. Been ordering from them quite often and have had nothing but positive experiences. Big fan of their beef stews and roasted chicken. Very tasty and authentic flavors. The delivery guy is always very prompt and super nice. The green sauce is perfectly spiced too. Definitely a great addition to the area and I enjoy supporting small businesses like this. Big thumbs up for anyone looking for a tasty Peruvian dish. read more

I forgot the name, but beef stew with cilantro was very good. I will try to eat here more often.

Food was very good; I had the seafood rice (similar to paella). They used a good amount of seafood in the dish which was a nice surprise. Husband had the chicken with a rice side and tostones, he raved about his food. The space is clean, homey but still classy. They also take reservations for larger parties. -1 Star for the long wait for food, 30-40 minutes to receive food for a table of 4 and the restaurant was empty. I'd keep the wait time in mind for a future visit; the food and atmosphere were enjoyable so I'd return again. read more

My husband & I stopped here after work for a home-cooked authentic Peruvian meal. It did not disappoint. He ordered a fish dish, I went w/ the Huancaina w/ grilled shrimp. Both were EXCELLENT! Fresh & balanced w/ lots of flavor. It took us back to Peru... Their Chicha Morada drink is freshly made on site, as are their delicious desserts (we tried two). I highly recommend you swing by for a nourishing, plentiful, home-cooked meal at a reasonable price. You won't be disappointed! read more

Love this place authentic Spanish food. Chaufa de arroz is the best. Also tried there lomo saltado is amazing.

Not only absolutely delicious food but wonderful service! I had ordered delivery the other night and it was good and then today I went in for lunch with my husband and we devoured the meal. Chicken is moist and juicy. The white and green sauces are awesome. The beans were fantastic. Can't wait to go back! The waitress told us the business is run by her and her two sisters and they do all the cooking too. Support local business! read more

Ordered from them last night for the first time after hearing so many wonderful reviews from our neighbors. I usually order from Tu Casa, but this place is going to be my new Peruvian spot. I ordered Arroz Chaufa de Pollo and tostones and it was delicious! They were very generous with their portion of Arroz Chaufa de Pollo. It was so good that I couldn't stop eating and finished the whole thing! And I love how they're not cheap with their sauces, which were so good with the tostones. I will definitely be ordering from them soon again. read more

I am so happy we food this place and will definitely continue to order!!! The aguadito soup was good. The chicken was super dry (half ended up in the garbage out of fear of choking). The fries excessively oily (ended up in the garbage). Also, do the math before ordering the specials..LOL. I did not realize until after. I ordered the sweet deal combo with the 1/4 chicken, salad, fries, soda, and desert = $16. If purchased separately, 1/4 chicken with fries and salad $8, soda $2, pie $4 ...unbelievable...LOL First and last time for me. read more

I wish I could give this place a zero star. I called and placed and order for pick up at 4:45pm and female associate told me it would take 15 minutes. I sent my brother to the restaurant at 5:00pm to pick up the food. He waited until 5:30pm and they still didn't have it ready. They kept telling him it was coming out. So he waited. It's been 50 minutes and the food is still not ready. I've been trying to call the restaurant to talk to someone but no one is picking up the phone. I tried 10 times and it keeps going to a automatic message in Spanish. Do not ever order from this place! I'm never going to eat there or order from there because their service is horrible!
