Writing this review is very disappointing. My wife and I have recently gotten into RC cars. For me it's something I enjoyed years ago as a teenager, and for my wife it's a brand-new hobby that she has really come to love. We decided to stop by this location while we were in Chico for other business. I've purchased from their online store before, so visiting a physical location seemed like a great opportunity. When we walked in, no one greeted us, even though several people behind the counter clearly saw us and simply stared without saying a word. We shrugged it off at first and continued looking around. However, about a minute later another pair of less diverse customers walked in and were immediately greeted warmly and asked if they needed help by the same individuals who had watched us enter without acknowledging us. At that point we decided to leave. We will not be returning to this store, and I will no longer be purchasing from their website either. It's unfortunate, because we were genuinely excited to find a local place where we could support the hobby in person. It was a very disappointing experience. read more

Very rude and disrespectful place for sure. If you enjoy being treated badly this is the place for you. They took it upon their selves to just cancel my order without letting me know what the date of shipment would be sense their web site didn't show they were out of stock on what I had bought and paid extra for faster shipping by the way. I needed it before Christmas. A few days later they tried to make it right by offering the Blade unit with free overnight if I call to pay for it. I don't give my info out over the phone sense a couple years ago I had lots of money stolen from my bank I chatted with the on line person to see if I could order it on line and they could just upgrade the over night shipping from there but very rudely let me know how things work and I didn't know what I was talking about thinking someone would steal from me with my info. I explained to him how others could get the info and do anything they want with it and I thanked him for treating me so badly and wished him a very merry Christmas. I wounder if they care about anyone other then their in store customers but I have read some of there in store visit folks as well. I'm glad there are other hobby stores out there and I am not stuck dealing with these folks. Horrible service at the chico store! One of the employees was rude and I definitely won't be back! Another employee was at the counter dropping F bombs in front of my son. Was in twice and the same rude employee waited on me both times I should have taken my repair elsewhere and definitely shouldn't have spent $160. read more

I've been buying parts from AMain Hobbies for a while now. I recently bought a part that was missing a small piece. I replied to the delivery confirmation letting them know the issue (not thinking I would ever get a response), and to my surprise I received a response saying sorry and they are sending the missing piece. Thanks for great service and selection. I use to by strictly from EBay but I found about 40% of the time I was buying from Amain. I checked out their website and learned about their $2.99 shipping for under $100 and free if you spend over $100, rewards points and great videos, I now buy 70% directly and go to a local store for the rest. I don't know why they even bother to offer two day priority shipping. It takes them three days to pull a single, small item which was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Pretty good selection and quick shipping on the website. But the tech advice side is abysmal. I was taking my first dive into electric RC planes and was counting on Amain to match the motor, ESC, and battery to the ARF I was assembling. I provided the specs straight from the owners manual. Bottom line is I ended up with the wrong stuff across the board. When I eventually figured out where they had gone wrong, they refused to take any responsibility whatsoever and simply offered me a $20 certificate towards my "next purchase" (as if...). Don't purchase from this company Ordered at Traxxis TRA68277-4-GRN Traxxas Slash 4x4 "Ultimate" VXL Brushless RTR 4WD Short Course Truck (Green). Followed all of the instructions to reduce the vehicle's speed Amain Hobbies will not let you return a defective vehicle. It's impossible to know it has a problem until you open it. I've run all of the controller and APP instructions with no luck. The on line consultant was not pleasant, but I'm open to the idea that texting loses perspective in translation. Bottom line. This group is no help with any support. They will only give you Traxxis company numbers to call and you have to support yourself. I'm writing this review to let others know we were charged $70+ for a RC Car return that had the wrong color, that was not our fault. Same brand/model, but wrong color option from what we ordered. Tried to work with customer service, but still charged us. This happed a couple years ago, but as an engineer with kids that play with them, I'm always ask about where purchase kits. read more

AMain customer service is terrible. They sold me a defective remote control car and would not accept the return. They had me run numerous tests which confirmed the car was defective (I even sent videos to them) and took a considerable amount of my time, then they told me they could send me parts to fix it in several weeks, when they are in stock. I didn't buy a ready to run car to wait several weeks and fix it myself. Clearly, they know how to fix it but they don't want to fix it or accept it as a legitimate return. Imagine buying one for your child for his birthday and having to tell him he just has to wait a few weeks for new parts and fix it himself. Good selection....Terrible customer service! read more

The shipping speed with a main is the absolute worst in the country they cannot ship anything out when they say they lie and say they have it they don't then they wait for it to get to their warehouse and then they're gonna ship it to you so be cautious I would use somebody like Kelly direct and pay the little extra money least your product will get here when they say I order stuff for ebay and they are 10× better at getting your products to you in a timely manner!!! read more

So we purchased the "Avenge 10MT" RC Car. From the first few uses the battery was defective. They were nice enough to send a new battery however that one isn't charging any longer after a month. We emailed and explained that something was wrong with the truck. It wasn't communicating with the remote only the tires would move. They said it was a calibration problem. We took it to a local Hobby store and the motor was burnt out. less than 2 months ? They replaced the motor for $25 but now the battery is bad. This is crazy, we paid over $150 for this and it would be nice if it actually worked read more

I bought a scenery kit from Amainhobbies but it wasn't the kit I wanted. I returned the kit as instructed but Amainhobbies refused to credit the return ... despite proof of delivery. I definitely would 'not' consider their customer service as being anything like adequate and I definitely would not recommend doing business with them. AMain Customer Service is amazing. They stand behind their Protek products and take care of you ASAP. There is one customer service rep there that is not very good, but everyone else I've dealt with has been outstanding. They have helped me out of a handful of jams and you can build up store credit with your purchases saving you a decent amount of money in the long run. read more

You guys suck. I've spent a lot of money on parts and many times I pay extra to have it here early. Many times it's not and you blame the carrier. If I'm paying your site extra then it should be here. Then you guys say well we will put $10 on your books. That has happened a few times. Just now I spent 32 minutes to finally get an operator with an attitude named Laura to tell here I ordered a product and it said it was gonna be here on Friday. Then it switched all the way to Monday, then Tuesday. Well today is Tuesday and our mail carrier has come and gone. I look it up and it's still in Washington. I'm done with you guys and your excuses. I have spent hundreds of dollars here, Mostly on RC car parts. Shipping is usually pretty fast and they have a lot in stock, I have returned items for store credit ...no problem. At the same time I also support my local Family owned RC Shop for the Big items and support. I use Amain mostly for hard to get parts. Never had an issue. read more

Horrible customer service - After 2 phone calls and being told to contact HPI Racing Ltd directly, HPI Racing Ltd stated "As we are based in the UK, we ask our US distributors to handle the North American customer services on our behalf", so after 2 more phone calls, the first of which I was told that they would get back to me later in the day (they never called back to tell me what they would do for me), I called again 4 days later to be treated disrespectfully and to be told that "IF" they could figure something out they would call me back. Apparently AMain does not stock replacement engine parts, and the Nitro Buggy that we purchased has a defective piston. Only was able to run a half of tank of fuel through it before it overheated and melted the starter cord. I took the car to a professional Hobby Shop and they provided me with a written diagnosis, for which AMain Hobbies could care less. Take your business to a local Hobby Shop, avoid the disrespect, poor customer service, and inferior products from AMain Hobbies! read more

Scammers! I live in Boston, but these scammers managed to get my credit card and try to rip me off last month. I had to go through the whole hassle, cancel the card, etc. etc. I've never even been near this place, they don't sell anything I'd ever buy. Personally, I'd just never do business with these people. If you must, then DO NOT give them your credit card. Either they are scammers, or they have scammers working there. Do not trust them. Very disappointing business experience with amain. They're dropping a helicopter line that I utilize and they were the only source in the US. When I queried them, they were very vague in their answers and many products are backordered (and will likely never get filled) and many more were "discontinued." I verified with my source at the Mfr. facility and he reported that they have over 144 sets of a part that amain claims is discontinued. The model line is the TSA Infusion helicopter. Looking online they no longer offer any kits, only have 126 parts across 6 model lines and will not give a straight answer to queries. I, for one, will be removing them as a source for all future parts (I also have 2 Trex's and 5 airplanes). Do not do business with these people. They also sell on e-bay under the hobbytown moniker. If it is coming from Chico, Ca, it's AMAIN and I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I usually wont write a review unless my experience is phenomenal and in this case amain hobbies did just that. i have been buying from there shop for years and ordering from there online store when i dont want to drive an hour. I have talked to many people in there customer dept but never anyone like SHANE. Shane was the friendliest and most knowledgeable person i have ever spoken with at amain. After he solved my issue very quickly he even went a step above and called back to make sure i was satisfied with my order issue outcome. Amain hobbies has my buisness for life. If shane isn't a manager they should definitely make him one because he was alot better and friendlier then others i have talked to in the past. I do love going to A Main Hobbies, they have what I need and are usually great people to deal with. However, this particular weekend we had to deal with a clerk who was not helpful and frustrating, which in the hobby business is inexcusable. Upon my first visit, he refused to help saying he was too busy. On my second visit, when he wasn't busy, he refused to help and told me I was on my own. Then I called back with a part number, and before he new who I was he said "sir you already know we don't have this part." not that he try to help me find it be for i had the part # If I were the owner, this person would either be demoted from an MOD or he would be fired. I can't imagine having a person like that as an MOD and a representative of my business. I have never been so frustrated with a clerk before and I will never be going to A Main Hobbies again. read more

I made a first time purchase from Amain.com on November 10, 2019. I purchased a item that the website clearly had and currently has INSTOCK noted on the website. Let me add that this item was a $429.00 item with a shipping cost of $157.99 so basically I had $600.00 into this transaction as a new customer. A full 7 days passed and I was becoming somewhat concerned. I just had a bad feeling about it so I sent 2 messages inquiring about the status of the order via their website. Those requests was never answered. The next day I decided to call Amain for a update and some direction on the order, I sat on hold for 20 minutes then the line goes dead. I then notice the chat box on the website so I am running out of options for simple contact with Amain.com. I used the chat box to try to communicate that way. I was connected with someone by the name of ERIC and I simply asked about the order. ERIC was very slow to respond. I found myself on this chat for nearly 30 minutes with no answers at all to my inquiry. ERIC would literally type a couple of words then vanish for 10 minutes.. it was terrible customer service. ERIC then begins to tell me that "they (Amain) was waiting on the item to come in".. to my surprise I said "wow.. the website said and still says that the item was instock" ERIC after more pauses and delays finally says that they have 2 warehouses and the item was in stock at one but not the other... (?) That made absolutely no sense to me. Either the item is instock like the website falsely says or its not in stock.. as a customer why does a warehouse matter to me? You have something listed as instock then that creates more people buying the item because it is "instock and ready to ship" right? Well, ERIC was not overly friendly, he had no true answer to the problem, barely spoke in the chat, was not sympathetic to a customer left waiting on a item that they do not even have and just didn't really care and should not be in any customer service position at all. After sitting on this so called chat for over 30 minutes with this kid ERIC I had had enough.. He didn't make any sense and didn't seem to care one way or the other. No customer should have to reach out to a company 4 times in 2 days while using 3 different methods to get a $600.00 order update of some kind. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would NOT spend a penny at AMAIN.COM. They lie on their website about items being in stock, they are nearly impossible to contact and their employees are lousy at customer service. I order a lot online every single year and I mean A LOT. I spend thousands of dollars a year on my hobby alone. I have experienced good service and AMAIN.COM had a fair chance and completely blew it in every direction. Do NOT spend your money with AMAIN.COM whether it be at their store in California or online. Take your money to a hobby shop that appreciates your business and bends over backwards to deliver good customer service. Never again will I order from AMAIN.COM and unfortunately for AMAIN I am a active member of several online hobby forums where we share knowledge. I do not just share good customer service with the internet but I also share horrible customer service and spread it to anyone and everyone to save them from dealing with a company that does not appreciate their customers. Hobby shops online are a dime a dozen and there are good ones out there but NOT AMAIN.COM.
