Amazing meal last night with great wine pairings. Loved the new space they were in and staff was delightful!

This was a super delicious meal and I was so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. I made reservations for a Friday night and it was maybe half full? We were greeted, had our coats checked, and sat immediately upon entry. My friend and I sat at the kitchen counter which was so fun. We were able to watch the chefs prep and cook and chat with them as well. The interior is quite cozy and rustic? Service throughout was amazing. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Food was so amazing 10/10 as well. Plating was fun and cute, and the late winter flavors were so delicious. I especially loved the custard dishes, one with oyster and caviar, and one with mussels and trout roe. Yummm I also really loved the lemon and rhubarb dessert and the grapefruit cranberry palate cleanser. Super refreshing, not too sweet, and very addicting. Omg and the lamb??? That was the most tender most delicious lamb chop I've ever had in my life. I wasn't super impressed by the scallop mustard green sponge cake. The cake was fluffy and a fun texture, and the scallop was fresh and sweet, but the flavors didn't mesh well for me. The mushroom risotto was also nothing to write home about. Though that might just be because I'm allergic to shrimp. Their regular seafood risotto looked really good. The brodo at the end was also okay; a tad too salty. I've seen some reviews that talk about the weird long spacing between courses, but I felt the opposite. Maybe it's because they had 2 seatings that day and we were the earlier seating. But we barely had time to digest between courses! Overall, this was an awesome experience. I was super full and satisfied by the end of service and I love that you get the menu at the end of service to keep. 500/10 would come back again to try their other season menus.

It was raining as I walked from Pike Place to Altura. I tried convincing myself that it was just drizzle but when I saw the locals using an umbrella I knew I was in for it. I arrived a soggy mess just in time for my reservation. The restaurant was warm and inviting. I was warmly greeted and seated at the counter, where I was given a hot towel for my hands (and face!) to refresh myself. I was treated to a wonderful tasting menu throughout the evening. I can't believe I ate it all, and by myself. A solo trip, as I flew up for a surprise visit for a friend who was having an art show opening and the real reason for the trip. She was truly surprised!

We returned to Altura after more than a decade. I'm not a food critic but I'm pretty sure Altura would have a Michelin star if the program existed in Seattle. The quality of the food, service and attention to detail at this place is exceptional. We went for a special occasion and the whole staff including Chef Nathan was aware and made it a point to wish us. I already had high expectations for the food - and it still exceeded my expectations. The way Chef Nathan picks the favors and textures for every bite is truly incredible. It's hard to pick a favorite bite - but I will - the beef ravioli and pumpkin gazpacho. In other fine dining experiences the dessert course was the let down - not true at Altura. The deconstructed creamsicle was divine and the canoli was equally good. All the stars for Altura, and then some - C'est parfait!

Reservations were made for this place for my boyfriend's birthday and there are limited amount of spots so make sure to reserve your seats beforehand! There is a set menu and I believe it changes every month, but if you have any allergies you can informed the restaurant ahead of time to make accommodations. It's a small restaurant but its cute and homey vibes. It was such a wonderful experience from the service staffs to the food that was served. We sat at the bar area and got to watch the craft and smell the aroma curated. Love this place, and would love to come back.

The food, the presentation, the service--this place is truly an incredible gem in Seattle. The open kitchen adds so much to the experience; you can watch the chefs work their magic as you dine. If you want a closer look, there's bar seating right up front, though we opted for a table. The uni bite was unforgettable--I still think about it, and honestly, I could eat them like popcorn. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in. The drink menu is excellent as well and pairs beautifully with the food. A memorable spot through and through.

11/10 - one of the best meals I've ever had. We did the chef's table and not only was the service exceptional, the experience of getting to chat with the chefs and see what they were doing was well worth the small additional cost. My partner booked this for my birthday after Reddit told us it was the place to go in Seattle. I'm happy to report Redditers know what's up. I was able to ask for a few modifications due to allergies and being a picky eater and they were kind enough to accommodate me. Starting out, the vibes were immaculate. The place is quaint, but warm and lovely. Something that makes Altura unique is the attention to detail - not only in the food, which is exceptional, but also down to the cutlery and flatware. Everything is served on something unique that makes the food even more pleasing to the eye. The service was also exceptional. With no one person truly "serving" you, you get to chat with a variety of folks and it makes for a very fun experience. The sommelier is never far away and has fantastic recommendations. We chose the pairing that married alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options. Every pairing was perfect, but many of the wines were very unique! And finally, the food was so. damn. good. From the wagyu crudo, to the charcoal grilled octopus, the braised shank ravioli, and the honey semifreddo - nearly every bite had me turning to my partner to say "this is so good!" And again, every item on the plate intentional, well cooked, and perfectly crafted. All in all, a wonderful evening and an exceptional meal. Just go eat here.

incredible from start to finish. the presentation and taste were so unique, every single dish except the entrees was a completely new experience for me. by the end we had to waddle out, we were so full we couldn't even finish the second course of dessert! our waiter was so sweet, he brought us some special rose tea which was delightful

The experience was super fun and delicious, love sitting at the counter top and seeing the chefs do their things. The staff is very friendly and they do the whole "putting the plates down at once" thing. The team is very lean, you can see everyone doing everything and the operation is impressive. For foods, very delicious and similar to typical fine dining - hugely flavorful, unique twist and well seasoned. Standouts: - the tomato dish was absolutely fantastic. Best tomatoes I've ever had in my life. They were served cold so I can only assume if they were room temp, it would lose structural integrity because they were so ripe. - the prosciutto wrapped mussel was really good. Just a whole bite of umami! Ambiance was very relaxed, small spot so you have to make a reservation and it's a whole experience.

Another delicious and imaginative dinner at Altura! I cannot rave enough about their stellar mocktail pairing. They put so much thought and effort into these mocktails and I could drink a gallon of them. Service was friendly and attentive per usual from each member of the staff. We sat at a table but were able to watch the chefs at work and preview dishes as they came out. Looking forward to returning!

The food was all pretty good -- I especially liked the ravioli; it had all the best things in there! The first few bites of each dish were great, too. Their flavor palette leans more toward umami and earthy tones, which I really enjoyed. I also love that they include a palate cleanser between the savory courses -- the shaved ice tastes like that "green grass" flavor from Harry Potter candy, but in a good way. That said, it was definitely too much food for me. I didn't realize how full I was until I walked out, and then I felt kind of sick for the next two hours. The cannoli in the final dessert wasn't anything special -- I'd honestly drop that.

Came here for a friend's birthday and it was a lovely but expensive ($$$) night. Reservations were relatively easy to make and I prepaid for the meal on tock. Be aware that the meal does take the slotted 2.5-3hrs. Started at 8:30pm and finished around 11ish. I opted for the N.A. drink pairing cause it's usually more interesting. My friend and I ended up sharing, since some of them were hit and misses for certain flavor preferences. Didn't get a picture, but the last dessert was a combo of a cannoli, cherry marzipan, and rich hot chocolate. It was so so good. Overall a great meal for Seattle. We were pleasantly full after everything. We sat at the chefs counter and it was so much fun to see how the chefs prepared everything. Truly a lot of moving parts and a profession of precision. Noise level was great too. At the end, they provide the menu to take home which is a nice touch.

It's taken me a loooong time to write this review and I hate myself for it! I found Altura by sheer coincidence looking for a special dinner. I'm so glad I found it! Best experience, service and food I've had in a while! Worth every penny! I went to the location for dinner the week of Christmas and decided to do the counter experience and enjoy the tasting menu. Oh. My. God! The food was delicious, completely understated, and I can tell that they're consistently amazing based on the person seating next to me, who was a local! And they told me they love the place so much that the go at least a couple times a year!!! The ambiance is relaxed but still formal enough that you know it's for special occasions I do love that it didn't feel like I had to make too much of an effort still. Definite must try!

Looks like the Christmas eve or New Year's eve dinner is a bit more expensive than typical dinner. Is the menu significantly different?

Is it better to sit at the Chef's Table or a regular Dining Table?

If you have a small group, it's a unique experience to sit at the chefs counter and watch the kitchen while eating, while still being able to have a conversation. If you have a larger group, I'd recommend the regular dining table. It's the same meal…

Do they have a vegetarian tasting menu?

I've been twice now and they adapted the tasting menu for a vegan and a vegetarian both times successfully, we did let them them know ahead of time.

Usual dress attire at this place on a Friday night?

I've seen everything from light casual to dressy. I suspect the dressy ones were celebrating something special.

We were only trying to be accommodating and make things easier for the staff. We were initially seated inside, but they eventually moved us outside because that was what they had available and what our reservation was originally for. At that point, the staff seemed noticeably upset with us for having sat inside. Our host then argued with us and said that we had requested to sit inside, which simply wasn't what happened. We never demanded or even preferred indoor seating. We preferred to sit outside from the beginning and only offered to sit inside if it helped because they seemed busy. It was frustrating to have our attempt to be flexible turned into an issue and then be argued with about what we had said.

For those short of time and live with no adventure I'll cut to the chase. The food is exquisite…read more For the rest, please read on. This last week while traveling for business to Seattle I had the pleasure of dining at Mezzanote. Their name of course implies it is an Italian restaurant but what you don't realize until you have sat and initiated your meal is that you, regardless of choice are embarking on a beautiful tribute to Northern Italian cuisine. At first arrival, the immediate impression is one of modest presentation but friendly and very inviting ambience. The staff, including our Server Marcus was attentive and had impeccable timing to read the table and flow of those joined in the meal. Check back was perfect and his service support was equally in tune with the other tables on the patio where we sat. Now this is what you have been waiting for... The food and I mean, we had almost one of every item on the menu and every dish was simply delicious. Tastes that were balanced and never overwhelming, but truly inspired dishes that your taste buds understand that the food was made with care and meant to satisfy even the toughest of pallets. Let's start with the house focaccia and ask for the disco sauce to dip your bread. It was a tummy satisfying start but then they dropped the focaccia regala and with the cheeses melted in a medley that left me thankful I was as they say "hungry as a hostage" because the meal had just begun. The next appetizer brought out was the Carote... This medley of carrots smoked with a Chile Honey Glaze left this BBQ born and raised Mexican wondering why ?? And then I had my first forkful and any doubt that I had about the chef creating something sacrilegious by smoking carrots left me, as the flavors were amazing. For a moment I forgot I was eating my vegetables.. where was this when I was a younger man. On to the main courses and the Reginette was first up. This Bolognese was a hearty blend of flavor and subtlety as it wasn't overly anything except satisfying. The Braciola Dia Miaale was a durock pork chop with a rhubar mostarda and salsify puree with asparagus that could not have been better. You didn't have to be a pork chop fan to enjoy this at all. Every dish that arrived was better than the one before. The Bucatini C'Anciuova, Prawns with Calabrian Chile, anchovies, tomatoe and orange zest was a delight and I don't normally eat anything overly spicy. This was a balance of heat with a twist of tang that the orange zest delivered flawlessly. Allow me to share that it is imperative you save room for dessert. Their tiramisu taste as if there is some Italian grandmother locked away in a pastry room kicking these out. They have other desserts to be sure, but this is the star of the show in my opinion. For those of you that are wine enthusiast, they did have a wine list that was impressive. All in all, for those that follow me, you know that it is a rarity for me to give any place I visit five stars from the first visit. Consistency is premium in my book. But as I mentioned to one of our fellow diners. This food is amazing, and the reality is each of these dishes could be served in a five-star venue layered with opulence and still the food would outshine the location. The only drawback was there was no Coke Zero... Damn it ...Turns out though that can be a pretty tough find in the city of Seattle in all the restaurants. For one that does not participate in alcohol or wine, my taste buds were not underserved and I survived without my Zero. This place is a go-to for any Italian yearning for authentic Italian food made with love. That's the only way I can describe just how good the food is. This isn't something that is prepared in volume for the masses. The chef and that team are simply serving with their hearts and it resonates with every bite. I'll be back, again and again. Oh and should you find yourself needing to go to the restroom. Ask for the Disco restroom.. that alone is worth the drive... Lol until next time Mezzanote! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
