Bahram of Altap Electrical is great. We had some electrical blowout, caused by using a electric space heater. I was traveling, and my wife called Altap. Bahram showed up the same day, very quickly (it was a Sunday too). He was able to quickly fix the problem with our circuit breaker. We need to have an old electric panel replaced during the Shelter-In-Place under COVID-19. The challenge also included underground wire. We got multiple offers and Altap was the most reasonable one. Bahram is a truly excellent electrician. He is knowledgeable and his rates are very fair. We had a faulty electrical outlet that had been looked at by a couple of electricians, none of could figure out the issue. All of them quoted it as a 4-5 hour job. I am not a type of person who often leaves reviews/comments on Yelp. I left only a few reviews ONLY when I had complaints, but it's different this time. I am leaving a review with 5 stars. I contacted approx. 10 contractors/electricians who install lights since my new living room light with a fan fixture was not bright enough. After a few consults, our conclusion came to recessed LED lights. I searched lighting installation companies on Yelp, contacted more than 10 companies that have higher than 4 star rating, and got quotes from them. Some of them including Bahram made a visit to my house for a free estimate, and others gave me quotes by email. ($$ per one recessed light and dimmer switch). There are two main reasons I went for Bahram. 1. Quality of the work was the first concern since we just moved into our new house. He sounded very promising when he told my wife about the work. I was at work, so my wife dealt with Bahram when he visited. According to my wife, Bahram seemed to know exactly what we wanted and what he would do. Bahram said we don't need to move any furniture/stuff in the living room and promised to cover all and clean after work. (See photos) In addition, my home has a crawl space above the living room, but the work still required cutting a small hole on drywall. Bahram's team cut the drywall, patched it, and painted it at no cost after installing the recessed lights. The cutting/patching is not even very visible and was perfectly done by his team. All the companies I got quotes from said they would NOT do the patch and paint job after installing the lights. Instead, they told me to hire another drywall contractor to finish the patch and paint work after they install. That would cost me extra $$, and who knows how badly they would ruin the drywall when they install the lights? I did not want to hire another contractor for some one else has done. 2. Cost was a second concern. Everyone should get all the quotes from all available contractors/electricians, but I bet Bahram would give the best deal. I don't think it would be appropriate to post exact amount here... Like I said above, I got quotes from more than 10 places, and the quote from Bahram was the cheapest. (much cheaper). And, my wife and I are happier with the quality of work at this price. No doubt I would call Bahram for future projects and recommend him to anyone. read more

I'm a very nit-picking guy. To give a review of 5 stars would be difficult from me. But if there's a SIX-star rating in YELP. Bahram, the owner, is definitely the one and I don't even need to have a second thought about it. For the record, I hired him to rewire the whole house, install recessed lights everywhere, and upgrade the electrical panel from 100amp to 200 amps. As you can see, it's probably everything you can image about electrician. Why I'm so happy? #1: Honest He will never sell something you don't need. Even you don't need it right away but better to have in the future. He will talk you out of it. He try hard in saving your money unless it's necessary. He is not selling you ANYTHING you don't need. #2: Affordability (High C/P) His quote is often 30-40% lower than other quote. But the quality is really good. You are paying for a Toyota and you got a Lexus. No complaint at all. To give an example, upgrade a 100amp to 200amp panel can easily top 3000 from many electrician. Try to call him and you can save a huge. #3: Satisfaction I just called him after 6pm on Friday. He picked up the phone without any hesitation. He is always there. Text, Email, Phone. He always visit my house per my request to give more consultation, and his guy make sure the house is clean, neat, and safe. If there is a need for permit, he takes care of you without any service charge. The best out of the best, I probably owe him close to few thousands for all the jobs he have completed. He did not charge me for any downpayment. I keep asking him, how much do I owe you? Should I pay jobs that have been done? Guess what. He said not necessary. I can pay when EVERYTHING is complete and I'm happy. He always give you a quote in advance but he trusts his clients. I did not even sign any document (contract) and he just sent his workers to do the job. I can only tell the quality of his work by its appearance. I am not an electrician so I can't vouch for the quality of his work. (Come on, if someone can judge this, he is an electrician and why the hell you need hire another?) But I can tell no difference between his work and other work done in my friend's house. But I save thousands of money and always, the most important, peace of my mind. (No rip-off) By the way, he usually "does NOT work" with a general contractor. He runs business with the home owner directly to save your pocket. We used ALTAP to install recessed lighting in our 1937 house, and was happy with their service and clean work. We had a total of 8 lights installed in our living room and kitchen, and the process took an entire day. Bahram was able to schedule an installation within the week, and the guys who came to do the job were timely and responsive. I do recommend the house being empty of people while the work is going on, as they clear much of the furniture and put down rosin paper and plastic sheeting everywhere. It's not really convenient to hang around or get your usual chores around the house done while they are there. The work and wiring was clean, though I do experience a slight 1-second delay when I turn my living room lights on, which is a minor complaint. They used LEDs and the brightest setting is too bright for us, so we usually have it dimmed slightly. The lighting has made a huge difference in our home and we love it. I appreciated Bahram coming by after the job was done to make sure everything was done right. We will definitely use ALTAP in the future for our lighting needs. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Braham for some electrical trouble over the weekend. I called and made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. Braham came to my home at 11am within the 10-12pm window as scheduled. I let him know that my downstairs bedroom outlets, dining room lights, and kitchen lights were not working. He checked the circuit breaker and found that there was a circuit trip that happened....I swear I had checked that darn switch multiple times and nothing had worked... He must have some magical electric mind thing going on because I felt like a dummy having him come all the way just to flip a switch. But he did not stop there, Braham checked the rooms again, double, triple checking everything. When he did his last check on the switch he heard a weird buzzing noise. He said that was enough to open the circuit breaker and replace the bad breaker with a new one. So he did and I was so happy that he was concerned about my safety rather than just flipping the switch and charging me. The invoice came out to be a very reasonable price. I am writing with immense gratitude and appreciation for Bahram at Altap Electrical today. Contracted for a 200amp panel upgrade to our house yesterday. His communication was always clear and precise. On day of service, his team was efficient, finishing the job quickly & cleanly. Half of the house was gradually losing the power over a period of a few days. We flipped the breakers outside the house a few times according to people's suggestions. That did not help. Called PG&E and a technician was dispatched over. He inspected the electric pole and power lines outside the house, and told us nothing wrong on their side and we need to hire an electrician on our own for further examinations. Found Altap Electric on Yelp. Two recent reviewers had the exact same problem. The owner is experienced, knowledgeable, and awesome. Returned our call promptly and came to our house within 2 hours. He checked all the usual suspects from the breakers to every outlets that lost power. Nothing is wrong there. Then continued to test all the outlets in the whole house. Still could not pinpoint what is wrong. Eventually he asked me if there is an outlet behind the piano. Who would know that the never-used outlet behind the piano on the opposite side of living room wall is the culprit. Somehow it burned itself and stopped the power feed to the other side of the house. During a recent heat spell, I came home from work around 6:30 and found the circuit breaker had tripped to our wall-mounted AC unit. I tried resetting the breaker, but it wouldn't reset. I unplugged the AC and tried again, but still could not reset it. In a bit of a panic, as we were having guests that night and the house was at 87 degrees, I searched for an electrician that was still open (using the "Open Now" filter). I would like to give a shout out for Chris's work on a bathroom outlet problem we had. He figured it out in about four minutes. I showed him the outlets and he verified no power. The original builders installed a series of outlets for the washer in the garage and bathrooms outlets with one, now 35 year old GFIC outlet in the garage. It had tripped and no one noticed it. We didn't know they were one circuit. The loss of power problem was expressing in the bathroom plugs with no GFIC outlets and not with any thing used often in the garage. This was confusing without experience of such configurations. Plus that layout is based on old building codes. Anyway the GFIC was 35 years old we decided to put in a new GFIC and the power is now flowing. Altap Electrical thank-you!
