Absolute garbage company. I tried to cancel right away but my phone read the number as an extreme scam threat and would not complete the call. Now they are billing regularly and said they want $249 to cancel. There are WAY better companies to deal with. Unless you love stress and headaches, stay as far away from Alta as you can!! By the 22nd of February I start receiving phone calls for a past due notice. I asked the young lady why they were doing this and she replied because people have not been paying. Today, an Alta Pest Control Salesman knocked on our door at 5:27 pm. We told him we were not interested in pest control and then he got pushy. Again, he heard the words "no". In between the "no's", he made a couple of rude remarks and as he walked off our porch he made another condescending comment. In fairness, Alta seems to have a lot of 5 stars for their Pest Service, so my guess is this was an exceptionally bad hiring decision on the part of Alta. read more

Great company and this review is long overdue and should have been written a long time ago! I have been with Alta Pest Control for a couple years. Initial service when I first started was good but then there were a few bumps in the road and the service level declined on several visits. I had some concerns and voiced my displeasure with the scheduling and service level. One of the owners Chris contacted me after hearing about my negative experiences. Chris was polite, willing to listen to my concerns, was knowledgeable and promised to make things right with their service commitment. With Chris personally contacting me, Alta was able to keep me as a customer. Being one of the owners of the company Chris demonstrated a high level of commitment of doing what it took to keep a customer. Thank you very much Chris for taking a hands on approach and making your customers feeling valued! All of the technicians are great and are willing to listen and address any pest issues you feel you might be having. alta is essentially a legitimate scam. They will sign you up for a contract without explaining how their service works. Nothing they Say is going to be accurate and on top of it my rodent issue is still ongoing. do not trust anything they say, their whole business model is designed around tricking customers into a year long contract, and when disputed they will send you over the contract you sign online that has the details buried n the fine print. Alta Pest Control keeps my home free of pests!!!! My husband and I have been with Alta for over 5 years. We had an inside and outside ant and spider problem. It was so bad that I was on the verge of going to live with my son. The agent ( Cameron) that I spoke with was extremely helpful and ensured that my pest problem was going to be taken care of right away. A girl showed up at my house at 9pm from this company. She knocked on my door and then proceeded to ring my door bell. Causing a chain of events that started with my dog barking and ended with my 5-year old and baby awake. It is AGAINST city ordinance to knock on doors after the EARLIER of 8:00pm OR 30 minutes past sunset. Last I checked, 9pm is definitely later than 8:00! Ridiculously unprofessional and totally inappropriate. If you want to knock door to door that's fine, but do it during reasonable hours that are within the confines of the law. I would not now nor ever do business with a company that has such disdain for families. Their lack of respect is appalling. read more

Pushy and dishonest salespeople, extraordinarily poor customer service, they do not respect their customers or their customers' time, they will try to lock you into a one year contract (other places do not), they are not upfront about ANYTHING. Then to tip it all off I was solicited for an exuberant tip for my pest control guy from corporate. They said their pest control guys were heroic front line workers during the "on going"Pandemic and solicited a tip for him. No class whatsoever! Pay your employees more. I am your customer and you're going to come back a second time with your hand open asking for MORE money?! Have a problem? Update: My wife reached out to the company again after I did and we received a totally different response. They sent out another tech the next day and he was awesome. Thanks Noel! They reached out again today to make sure we were happy and even added a credit to our account. Looks like the first incident was a one off! Tech showed up for a mouse problem. Told him the access point was likely outside, as attic showed no signs of mice and was above attic line. Proceeded to place traps in attic, did no outside inspection and left without notifying us, leaving garage door wide open. Customer service was not helpful when contacted. Might be worth breaking 12 month contract since this was the initial visit. read more

I recently bought a home and I noticed some spiders and wasps and wanted to check if i had a major issue and so scheduled a inspection. They were nominal and agreed to do full house and crawlspace inspection for 99$. They were prompt to respond on Yelp/Phone and scheduled a appointment within a week. The inspector came in, checked around the house and found nothing major (thank god). He also said that the crawlspace looks immaculate. :). They also did not recommend anything extra which was good and the only thing he wanted to do was spray where he found some ants. He did that and he was gone. Great job. the only reason i am giving 4 stars was they only accepted credit cards and not checks which i would have liked. read more

Don't ever use this company. The guys that initially come are polite and helpful, but once you've signed that contract... that's it. I specifically told them they could only come around on a Thursay or Friday so I could give access to my backyard. The second visit they scheduled for Monday July 3. Luckily I was at home, so I sat indoors ALL day waiting for them. My account was debited first thing that day.... eventually 5.49pm I received an email saying they'd serviced my yard. NO! They hadn't - no-one had come. After calling the company they gave a lame excuse that apparently he'd gone to one of my neighbors and done their yard instead. Really? We all have big signs outside showing the number of our houses. I then called to cancel, because really if you can't trust a technician to get the right house why bother... they then charged me $300 for cancelling the contract. So basically they charged me $405 for one fogging - which incidentally did NOTHING!!!! read more

Only used once so far but the service was great! Ants came like made like he said and then have not seen one since.

We started Alta Pest Control with a Groupon but signed up for the 3 month contract. We have rodents in the attic. They also treated for ants, spiders and other pests. They came out as scheduled and even came out a couple of extra times at our request. The problem is that nothing was fixed. Our biggest complaint is the rodent problem. They looked around checked the potential access points, reported they found nothing, set a couple of traps with no success. The noise was still in the attic and finally it chewed or scratched a hole in the ceiling in one of our bathrooms. We called another company and the reported they found at least a half dozen access points from outside, at least 3 nests and a couple of traps set by the previous company no where near the nests, but just inside the access doors from inside the house to the attic. The new company have sealed off the outside access points, cleaned the nests out and set more traps. In summary our contract with Alta was a complete waste of money. and as a retired couple with mobility challenges we really cannot do the work ourselves or afford companies taking advantaged of the fixed income home owners. read more

An absolute disaster of an experience. Be warned; they will con you into the job scope that they will not complete - the whole business is about deception these days, from what I can tell. They agreed to address my crawlspace by cleaning out, replacing vapor barrier, replacing insulation surrounding ductwork, and reinstalling new preventative screening at all exterior crawlspace vent access points. The salesperson Shaine assured me that this would be completed. I specifically asked that the following language be included as I felt something was wrong as he kept assuring me and overly stating, "I will take care of you." When someone says that it usually means they won't. The specific language was "Alta will replace vapor barrier, replace insulation surrounding ductwork, and reinstall new preventative screening at all exterior crawlspace vent access points." During the job, I asked E.J. (the worker) if everything was being addressed, to which he stated I don't replace insulation surrounding ductwork. I then contacted the manager and sales rep Shaine, where the circular discussion began. He told me we only replace if "needed" he said it wasn't needed. I finally clarified with the head office that they NEVER replace ducting insulation. I then called him out on it and then he said we replace it in the floor, but you didn't need it (Well obviously because WE DON'T HAVE ANY). I said yes, I do; here are the pictures of rat feces everywhere. He then said did you send me these pictures before the job? - NO! I said I didn't because he (Shaine) was the one that inspected the crawlspace, heard me tell him 10 x what to address, and then confirmed that before starting the job. Then the circular arguments continued and continued. The head office just kept my wife on hold for hours trying to apologize and saying that they would deal with it offering no refund or no resolution to why they were called out to complete. We were apologized to for an acquisition of Ardent and the employees were saying that this is now a common occurrence. They also hid in there that there was no warranty UNLESS we kept the pest control contract for 12 months of service. I am sure they may respond to my review with some "call us" or "we are sorry you feel that way." I was a customer of these guys for years at my primary residence. After double-checking the work I was paying a monthly fee for, I received not a whole lot in return. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY anymore. When you need them, they will promise the world and leave you in bad shape. All I wanted was what I paid for... The Langlois brothers did not found the company based on this level of service. I have started using their service for a about 5-6 months and have been really happy with them. This past few weeks especially since we have a quick visit from a mice in the garage. Hawk was the guy assigned for this mission. Neither one of us were even dare to come near our garage once we know there is a mice there. He came set the trap and told us what to expect and even gave his personal number to call if the mouse has been caught. Today he came to dispose of the trapped mice regardless of his super busy schedule. I am so thankful for the service that Alta did... it was above and beyond expectation!!! I feel protected and at ease now knowing that our home is free of rodent, wasps, spiders, and any other creepy crawlies out there. Jul 6 4:30 pm After my experience described below at 2:00, I called the company and reported it to Mike, one of the owners. Then, a few minutes ago, his brother Tyler showed up at my door to get more details and to apologize. He said that the employee was a college student who had had some previous bad company reviews and probably would have to be let go. He assured me that the company was committed to doing business responsibly and then offered a free pest-control treatment to make amends for my bad experience with their sales rep. I haven't yet decided about how to respond to that offer, but based on the integrity shown by Mike and Tyler in reponse to my complaint, my rating of this company has now risen considerably from its original one-star. Jul 6 2:00 pm I just had the same experience as Claire's below. An Alta sales rep came to my door--also with a No Soliciting sign posted--and when I said that my wife was already pursuing the services of another company, he continued talking, insisting that I cancel out that company in favor of Alta. I told him, no, the decision had been made and it was time to end the presentation. When he continued talking even after three warnings, I told him that I was calling 911, pulled out my phone, and dialed it on the spot. He continued talking even while the phone was ringing. For some reason, my call failed, but by that time he had backed his way out to the sidewalk, so I didn't redial. I'm now filing a complaint with the police department against the company. Someone needs to control these pests. read more

I contacted Alta because of their high Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. We have a three story home plus 2 car garage which backs up to a green belt so spiders are an issue this time of year. We were worried about using chemicals due to our two small Italian Greyhounds and 2 week old grandson visiting for a couple months with his Mom. Alta was great from the initial contact which I did via their website. I received a personalized email back stating someone would call me Monday (I made my inquiry over the weekend) and I did receive a call Monday morning. Alta was willing to work with me to complete the treatment in 2 steps working outside and in the garage first and following up the next day with a secondary visit to complete the inside. This allowed us to put the dogs in the garage and remove our family from the home during the interior treatment. Alta didn't even charge me a secondary service call. The guys that came out to the house were very polite and efficient with their work. They didn't just spray but knocked down all of the webs outside our home which was an added bonus. We signed up for the quarterly service with bi-monthly during "the season" which I feel is very reasonably priced. I've worked with other companies in the past and would highly recommend Alta.
