If I could give less than a star I would. I wanted to see Dr. Sawyer who has been highly recommended to me for years. I tried to see him almost 3 years ago. My first encounter I was newly married and insurance was through my dad. My name had not been changed on his insurance, but I provided all the identification and paperwork. I even brought my marriage license. After filling out new patient paperwork and waiting 45 minutes I was told they wouldn't see me. I thought I'd give the office another shot so I made another appointment. It takes AT LEAST 3 weeks to be seen. For the second time I was not able to be seen. I received a call from Jolene saying both of my insurances were showing up as primary. This is an issue I've been battling for a year. I was told to call them and let secondary know there was a primary. Well long story short i was transferred and disconnected. So I called back asking if I could just pay my primary insurance co pay. Worst case scenario is that they would owe me. NOPE. They wanted to pay the fee of no insurance to be seen. Now, I work in the insurance business and this is ridiculous. At this point, I already paid my babysitter and was on my way. I was able to find another office that had a same day appointment. I'm sure Dr. Sawyer is Wonderful but his office staff is AWFUL. Awful initial experience- Called about a week ago, and was told that a referral was required by PCP. In addition to request to follow up with PCP, the Appointment Dept also verified both insurance, confirmed that both insurance were okay, only thing lack was a referral from PCP. I obtained a referral-one was faxed, and my PCP gave actual copy. When I called today to make appointment, I spoke with two individuals- one adamantly stated my two insurance were not accepted, I insisted on speaking with someone else, and was transferred to Anne Marie, who explained that I did not receive such info, and in no uncertain terms stated the fault lies on my PCP and I should contact the PCP for further assistance. I requested to speak with a Supv and was transferred to Rebecca's voicemail- I left a detailed voicemail explaining my discontent with misinformation, lack of compassion, and fact that no one owned the mistake, that wasted my time. I don't expect a call from anyone, and will graciously put this behind me and Google, Yelp how awful customer service was. read more

After using these doctors for three years we had a semi emergency that needed some relatively quick action Soonest they could get us in to see if she was six weeks which was totally unacceptable and they would not even try to accommodate us any sooner. They did not seem to care at all that we had a big problem. We knew it was time to change doctors we were able to get an appointment at English dermatology,get a referral to them and get into see them within four days. that is customer service and patient concern which Alta does not seem to understand read more

This office is the most unprofessional medical office I have ever dealt with. Made an appointment with them showed up on time on the date they gave me 2 weeks before. Guess what they had scheduled me an additional 2 weeks later and did not tell me. Prior to driving to their office I called in twice to verify my date and time. Spent 20 min on hold the first time and over 30 the second time. No one ever answered. This is the rudest and inconsiderate medical office I have ever dealt with. Last night I told my 80 year old friend about Dr. Kessler. She has a growth on her nose than may be very serious according to her Primary Care doctor. Dr. Kessler did a beautiful job on my friend Annie's nose with a similar problem. Annie is much younger but equally terrified. So we got on Yelp to help her check out the group. I was rather surprised at the negative comments. It really made us wonder if the competition is going to extremes to make them look bad. I have been going there for many years. If you are looking for the following things when you interact with your doctor's office then this is your ideal place: * Waiting on hold at least 10 minutes to simply speak to any live person there * Leaving a message for the Doctor or Doctor's assist and then miss their call placed at the end of the day when you can't take their call, resulting in day(s) to have simple back and forth communication take place * The assistant in the room say they have submitted your prescription to the pharmacy, only to find out days later they only submitted your demographic information and neglected to include the prescribe medicine. * Then call back and have to leave a message and received no return call from them within a customary 24 business hour period and wait on hold at least 10 minutes the next day with for the receptionist to be told your expectation of resolution is unreasonable since that person never comes into the office on Mondays. * Then you call the pharmacy to find out they finally did receive the full prescription after 6 days but they have also been waiting for the doctor's office to respond to a needed clarification on the prescription and this Doctor's office provides no way to speak to a live person to solve the situation quickly and the pharmacy is forced to leave Voice Mails that may take a day or 2 to be responded to. * Then you find out this doctor's office didn't not take the time actually understand what question the pharmacy needed answered and just robotically sent the original prescription again. * Then when you speak to Office Manager regarding why it has been 11 days and you still don't have the prescription filled and you ask her if she thinks it's even possible if her office might have dropped the ball on anything, she evades answering the question, then this is the right type of doctor's office for you. read more

Called and they are not scheduling for another two months after the first of the year. Scheduling/Staff do not get it! I asked to be called for any cancellation and was told they do not keep a cancellation list. She told me I would be treated as a new patient! I reiterated that I have a growth on my face that is showing signs of early onset cancer and am open to any suggestions she can provide on being seen by Dr Megan Goff Davidson or an alternate doctor sooner. She said you need to calm down to which I said you do not tell me to calm down and then she hung up on me. The most incompassionate staff of any medical office I have ever encountered! Oh, Dr Megan Goff Davidson removed a growth on my face last time and her skills and bedside manners are exceptional, bar none! read more

Today was my first visit to this facility. Everyone was very nice and I was extremely impressed with how efficiently the Doctors assistant was taking careful notes before I even saw Dr Kessler. It was just a check up on a scar confirming it was indeed a scar and nothing more. I am relieved, Thank you so much to Dr. Kessler and all the staff. I also really like how up to date things are here they have an app to keep you updated and keep communication fluid. Thank you so much again I will be coming back for a annual visit! read more

I went in and saw the nurse practitioner. She was nice and said what I wanted done because of the location on my back was covered by insurance and would just be the co-pay. When I went to check out, she informed me she read my chart wrong and I had to pay for the procedure also. So because she didn't read my chart correctly I now had to pay $150 instead of $40! She didn't explain it very well and the receptionist was no help and no one was apologetic about any of it. I will not return and would not recommend them! read more

After years as a patient, I tried to get an appointment for my teenage daughter. Not only was the scheduler downright rude to me on the phone, she insisted that we could not see the doctor - or any doctor for months and then hung up on me. I will never return to this office this was the worst experience ever! My teen daughter is experiencing severe acne and is unable to control it due to extremely sensitive skin. A family who loves the Dr. recommended that we come here. I made her an appointment in July and had to book 2 months out because we requested an afternoon appointment time. We were told be there at 2:15 for a 2:45 visit. At 3:10 we were finally called back into the room. The nurse was thorough and asked several questions. Within minutes the Dr came in and looked her face over. She was very nice and we liked her, but she only addressed her face and not the other areas she is having issues with which consist of her arms and back. We were told what her regimen would be and that we could try using our insurance first, but if it didn't work or if it was too expensive to let her know and they would try something else. I had to leave the appointment early to make it to work on time and since they were running so late I asked my mom to come and finish the appointment with her and take her to work afterwards. I asked the staff at the checkout counter if I could pay the copay since the Dr was finished and she was waiting on paperwork and samples. I was told NO, that she would not ring me up without the paperwork in case it was more than the copay. I told her if it is my mom will pay the difference and I will square it with her, but I had to leave and wanted to just do the copay and run. She snapped I will not ring you up without the paperwork so I snapped back then you're not getting paid because I am leaving. She called out to the nurse and said she needed the code because I could not wait for her to finish the paperwork.... it was not about me waiting I had done that well beyond the appointment time it was about running out of time at this point.... The nurse called back to her and yelled the code. Finally she said with a snotty tone it is just your copay and pulled my debit card from my hand. She was rude through the entire transaction. When my daughter left she made a follow-up appointment for 2 months. Last night after we both got home from work she told me they sent the script to a discount pharmacy not ours. That was not what was discussed so this morning I called in and left a message for Callie in triage. She called me back and was so rude. I asked for her to recall the script they sent to the incorrect place and send it to my pharmacy. She told me they send them to this place because most insurances do not cover the cost. I told her mine does so I need this taken care of, she refused and said I had to call them to have them send it to my preferred choice. I told her this was their mistake and she should be the one to fix it, she refused. With an attitude like I was wasting her time after a constant dialog of back and forth she said she would send a new one to my pharmacy. She added if the discount place filled it already then my insurance would deny it at my pharmacy. I told her if that was the case I would be in on my way home today to make sure the Dr. corrected the issue. I added I would not bring my daughter back that this was the second time in 2 days I was treated like garbage and i was done. She did not care she hung up without any sort of apology or remorse. I got the number off of the internet for the discount place the script was sent to because she did not give it to me and I called. I wanted to find out if it was filled yet. The person I spoke to said no it was not filled or billed to my insurance yet. She added a note on the script not to fill it. She said she could not send it to my pharmacy that I was given the wrong information. She stated what the cost was and it was more than what I would be charged at my pharmacy. So much for looking out for the patient and sending it to a "discount" place to be filled.... She told me I would have to call my pharmacy to have them request it. I got hold of my pharmacy requested it be sent to them. I finally got the script filled. I made a follow up at a different Dr. We will NOT go back. read more

Called to schedule an appointment here as a new patient from a referral my primary care gave me. I was told the soonest a new patient could be seen with a female doctor was June! I'm sorry, but every review site I've read for Alta is poor and I'm not waiting that long for a below average office. Whole morning wasted! I was called a day before my appointment to verify benefits and provided the requested info. I was told if I didn't receive a return call to proceed with my appointment. No return call and here I am 20 min after my check in time not waiting to be seen but told I can't be seen because I didn't physically possess an insurance card even though my insurance was verified. After looks of discern I did receive an apology for the lack of communication though SMH. Wish I could be giving a review of treatment but never made it that far. By the way I have great coverage. The soonest appointment was three weeks out, a few days before they cancelled the appointment and re-scheduled it. I showed up early like I was asked to and filled out the paperwork only to be kept waiting for almost an hour after my appointment time. Then I was told I still wasn't going to be seen for at least another 20 minutes. Maybe this doctor missed the time management class in medical school. I don't know if he is a good doctor however he can't manage time at all. So if you work, just call off the rest of the day. read more

I had a 2:30 appointment. Arrived on time and then sat and waited for over an hour. Watched as the 12 chairs in the room filled and emptied three times. When there were four people left, I finally got up and asked if I had been forgotten. The girl informed me that the doctor was running behind. I feel the appropriate thing would have been for them to tell me this 30 minutes earlier and offer to reschedule. Instead a snotty medical assistant came out and said, "I'll take you back, but you need to realize that there are two people sitting in exam rooms waiting for the doctor." This meant I had at least another 30 minutes to wait. She became very condescending and started talking to me like I was three years old. That was enough. I got up, walked out, and will NEVER go back. As I was sitting I overheard the girl scolding another lady for being six minutes late and didn't know if they would be able to keep her appointment. I have been a patient of Dr. Megan Davidson for a few years and could not be happier. She is the consummate professional, highly competent, focused on providing outstanding patient care, has great listening skills, and gives one a feeling of high confidence that their dermatology needs will be met. If I could stop my rating here, it would be five (5) stars! Unfortunately, we must discuss the rest of the Alta Dermatology "experience". Lead time to get an appointment is typically 4 to 6 weeks. Chances of anyone on staff answering the phone when you call is about one in fifty. When the phone is answered by voice mail, you are guaranteed to be placed on "hold" for excessive, extensive amounts of time. Staff members are curt, short, and rude when addressing patients . . . whether over the phone or face-to-face. The primary focus of the office staff is to make certain patients understand that there will be a charge for the visit, and to collect the payment and get the patient out of their face with as little kindness as possible. They must meet weekly to practice their hatefulness. Dr. Sawyer is a joke. No interpersonal skills at all. Rude, not interested in what the patient has to say, and it is obvious he has no interest whatsoever in anything but strutting around like a little peacock trying to impress everyone how smart and gorgeous he is! I am certain there are several patients who wish Dr. Megan Davidson would relocate her practice away from this staff and this office so they could take advantage of her expertise without running the gauntlet of jerks that share the office. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I cannot believe the type of establishment they're running here. I personally went here due to many great referrals and though I have yet to actually see the inside of this place I am already greatly disappointed. Sure, there is the chance that they have amazing staff and the most knowledgeable doctors in the world. Alright, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I haven't personally met any of them due to the fact that I haven't been able to get in to see them despite attempting to schedule for months. I can understand being busy and overloaded with patients. To me that usually signals that they're just That good that people are chomping at the bit to get any and all appointments. What I cannot possibly understand is how referrals sent multiple times vanish or are spontaneously misplaced. I have called several times back and forth between my actual doctor and this establishment and for all of the progress made it seems like they're in opposite universes with dial up as their only connection. That aside, I finally managed to get an appointment ( not with a doctor mind you, but again, I can understand them being busy and had high hopes despite this) at this place. Or did I ? I can't really tell because.... hm.... there WAS an appointment. I spent a good chunk of time scheduling it on the phone a few weeks ago. But I call them up to reconfirm and *POOF*. Apparently my name is not even in the system. Funny how that works huh? How things just spontaneously disappear because this isn't a professional establishment or anything, right? So to go back over things: This could be a very good place with excellent staff that are incredibly nice and positively oozing knowledge and wisdom. I'm just not sure it's worth the hassle of all of this headache inducing ridiculousness. First time at this office. I picked up paperwork before the day of my appointment. I wanted to be sure I would not be holding up any other patients appointments. I had written something on the financial form and was called into the office, I felt like I was going to the Principals office. I was told it was against the law to cross anything out on that form and write anything in! So in other words I have to agree to everything. The girl behind the counter was so rude. She was talking over me and not listening to my reasoning behind what I wrote. She was so disgustingly rude that I should have taken my paperwork and tore it up and left the office. I had observed that some other senior patients before me were also being spoken to very rudely. I wanted to give this place a chance. The front desk is usually where people form an opinion of an office. When I was called back I was told it was 10 minutes past the hour, (past my scheduled appointment) and that she has an early lunch. OK so no stress there, right! Horrible place. The staff up front and the assistants were extremely rude and treated me like a second class citizen the whole time. They made my experience there very uncomfortable and from the time I walked In I wanted to turn and run but they charge you 50 dollars for cancels. The doctor was rude as well. I was being seen for a skin condition I have lived with for many years but never seen a doctor for. Upon my arrival into the back room the assistant asked me what I was being seen for and I told her. She rudely retorted, asking if I had been diagnosed and I assured her that I hadn't but I was positive that it was what I had said it was and I would be just as surprised as any doctor if it wasn't. Then she said he would HAVE to do a skin scrape to be sure of it. Low and behold the doctor took one look and confirmed my own diagnosis. Acting the whole time as though only someone with a phd could tell me what I had. Doctor even shushed me at one point putting his finger in the air. Will never go back- EVER! The doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me, didn't even ask what my daily lifestyle was, and wrote me a prescription that worked for 2 months but has now wrecked havoc on my face. It tells your a lot when the medical assistant spends more time with you than the actual doctor. This practice only wants your money and does not run like a medical practice should. I am a medical student and I would not run my practice like this. No sense of compassion or wanting to actual help the patient. This practice is professional and efficient and the practitioners deliver reasonable care, however in my opinion, they are not at all personable nor patient oriented. I was a patient there for 7 years but I can't tell you the name of a single staff person because they are simply not friendly. It's very business focused. They have many policies that are staff oriented, not patient centered. It's all about making things convenient for them as opposed to for the patient. I called to tell them that I was running late for my last appointment and upon my arrival I was told that I would need to reschedule my appointment. I was exactly 10 minutes late! I don't understand what the 1 or 2 stars is for. I went here for a thingy on my eye and sure I waited but I wait at my primarys office, I wait at the dentist office. I even have to wait in the pharmacy line at Walmart! The girls were busy in the office but its like that everywhere. They were friendly enough. I had my phone to keep me entertained, and ease dropping (accidentally) on other peoples conversation helped to. I saw the nurse practitioner. I wish I remember her name. Sweet girl...stuck a needle near my eye and it didn't hurt. Bruised a bit but went away and I'm back to my beautiful self. I'm glad I went here. Its hard to decide according to reviews. The Doctors seem good but the office is not! I saw Dr. Machuzak several years ago and liked her. But then had a flare up (different problem) and wanted to see someone quickly. I was told by the staff that I could see the PA sooner so I made an appointment with her. She was fine but problem is still persisting so I want a second opinion. Called the office to schedule with one of the doctors and was told I could not. What!! The staff member told me that it has to be approved by the office manager! I mean could she say no? Just had my bad experience with this group. Arrived at 9:10 am for my 9:30 am appointment. Waited 40 minutes past my appointment time before I was shown to an examination room where I waited an additional 18 minutes before the dermatologist arrived. I voiced my disapproval of the wait to Dr Sawyer and was told that he was busy curing other patients. I conclude that they over book for profit. The office is run very smoothly and the two times I have been there the appt was right on time. Dr Davidson is outstanding and spent quality time discussing issues with me. She also was very aware of costs of medicine and let me know to call the office if prescription was too costly and she would come up with an alternative. Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more with the person who gave this place 1 star. Are the front desk workers busy and at times not able to chit chat and ask you if you would like a cup of coffee or tea? Sure. But I have never had a single person at any time treat me with anything but respect. Perhaps the person who gave the place one star was too freaked out, since this was the first time she was seeking treatment for her skin disorder. Who knows. My son is thrilled with his doctor, and for a teen ager to actually be comfortable seeing a doctor for skin problems means a lot in my book. read more

I was seen in this office back in 2015 by Dr. Davidson and left feeling cared for and listened to. I walked out thinking that if I ever needed a dermatologist again, I would definitely come back...and that is exactly what happened. I just finished my series of visits (in April 2018) where I saw Dr. Davidson for a biopsy that led to me being seen by Dr. Kesler for a more invasive procedure (Mohs). From start to finish, both doctors were attentive and professional, not to mention all of the staff that are working there. Everyone I spoke with were nice and friendly. I was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment time and had little waiting when I got back in the room. I am not one to write reviews, but in this case I feel that people should know that these two doctors are really good at what they do and it is a practice I would highly recommend. I have been telling all of my friends that if they need a dermatologist, Alta Dermatology is the place to go. read more
