Nutella soufflé pancakes and fruit soufflé pancakes.
Lorna K.

Every time we have a chance of visiting HAWAII, my Home state we plan to come to Aloha Kitchen for their fabulous soufflé pancakes. The wait times are long so be patient. Minimum wait times during peak times is one hour or a little over an hour. The ambience is jamming with some lively music plane so it becomes a little noisy. If you want to speak to someone across the table. I came here for the Coco Mac pancakes, and my husband had the strawberry banana chocolate pancakes. We also ordered a side of Portuguese sausage a local favorite sausage. Of course you can't leave without having Kona coffee. Best breakfasts ever this place garners a five star rating.

Seasonal Mango Coconut waffle and Very Berry Soufflé Pancake in Back
Bisi O.

This place is great. We ate here three times while in Honolulu. The soufflé pancakes are delicious. Often times me and my friend just split the Very Berry, except the last day she at her Very Berry and I had a Mango Coconut waffle. I had loco moco here and they make their own burgers unlike other restaurants. It was seasoned and delicious. The rice was delicious as well. Always perfectly cooked and lightly salted. Nothing was bland. On the last day we had the pork loco moco. Delicious!! The service is really good. The staff is so nice. I will tell anyone I know staying in Waikiki to come here for breakfast. A tip is to come near opening to avoid a long wait. There is always a line but they move quickly.

Moldy unwashed blueberries on the acai bowl :(

We were very excited to try this spot bc there is always a line outside, but it wasn't anything extraordinary. There are just way better brunch spots to settle for this place. We enjoyed it don't get me wrong, but it wasn't anything to wait in line for. David, the worker who calls people off the list to seat them sets the whole vibe of the place. He's so funny and good at his job. Hope he gets paid well! But sadly I leave this place a solid 3 stars for the hyped up soufflé fruits pancake and açaí berry topped with moldy blueberries. I quickly spat it out and was just glad my daughter didn't eat it. They apologized and replaced the acai bowl, but quite frankly we immediately lost our appetite after seeing that they had not even washed the blueberries... I do recommend their Lobster Eggs Benedict. That was delish and solid. Aside from that, the rest were mediocre at best. Acai bowl was bland and too icy under the fruits. Soufflé pancake was just okay... My iced hazlenut latte was too sweet and husband said his Kona coffee tasted like Starbucks. Also the bathroom was filthy and stank...

Loco moco with fried rice and a medium egg

Best loco moco on the island. The gravy is chef's kiss. Get it with the fried rice,it's a must. The Japanese pancakes are amazing, of course, but honestly the loco moco stole the show. Still thinking about it.

Mai Thai soufflé & Coconut cream waffles

You know when it's a yummy restaurant when you see the line before and throughout the day for breakfast/lunch. They are known for their soufflé and they are as legit and I think the best! We ordered their Mai Tai soufflé and coconut cream waffles! Good God it was so delicious . Thankfully we live so close that I just look at the line & when it's only a few ppl I put my name on the list and literally got seated in a few minutes. It's not a big restaurant so that's why the lines are long so pack your patience because it's worth the wait! Service was fast and exceptional! Mahalo

Great place for some awesome bfast and fluffy pancakes. This was our 2nd time here in the last 2 years, and this place didn't disappoint. Food and service are always good. However, expect to wait since the place is on the tiny side.

3.5 stars A friend recommended this place because of their high reviews for soufflé, so I came to give it a try. I arrived around 8am and there was already a long line, at least 20 people waiting outside and it was fully packed inside. Given the situation, I decided to just order one popular soufflé to see how good it really is. When I went in to place my order, the staff told me that to-go orders don't start until 8:30am and it's cash only, which was a bit inconvenient. I waited until 8:30am and ordered the coconut soufflé. The soufflé itself was light, creamy, and mildly sweet, with a few small pieces of macadamia nuts. It was good, but honestly nothing that stood out, it tasted like a pretty standard soufflé. This place is definitely hyped for soufflé, so the long line wasn't surprising. But at $19.90 for a coconut soufflé, I don't think it's worth the wait or the price.

My family and I went here for breakfast during our 1 week stay over Spring break. There was a wait but the food was worth it. Service: The service was super courteous Ambiance: It was very clean inside. Food: We all got different things and I have to say everything was delicious! * Souffle Pancake: My wife got this and I am not a pancake eater but I was intrigued and I tried it and well I had SEVERAL bites b/c it was so good (the picture doesn't do the presentation justice). * Eggs and bacon: My older son got his trusted breakfast and he loved it. * Acai Bowl: My younger son got the acai bowl and loved it. * Veggie Omelette: I got my veggie omelette and it was so tasty (with egg white and cheddar).

Aloha Kitchen is a pretty awesome breakfast spot right off the main strip in Waikiki, across from the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It's a small, but very kitschy little dining room that fits at most 20 tables so definitely go early or pack your patience as you wait for an opening. However, the service is fast, but friendly and they are able to turn the tables with extreme proficiency and also making you feel welcomed. The items to get at Aloha Kitchen are its souffle pancakes and loco moco. The souffle pancakes is essentially the size of the plate that it came on, but because of the airness and lightness of it's execution, you leave feeling full but not weighted down by normal carbs. The recommendation is the coconut macadamia nut pancake with its unique combination of flavor and textures. The other local item is their loco moco. Get it in its tradition form with the hamburger patty with an egg over easy, but add the spam fried rice over the white rice. The combination of flavors along with its terrific gravy makes this a can't miss item on your stay in Hawaii. The one thing to be aware of is, the will announce the name quickly and only a few times and if you're not present after the first few announcements, you'll be marked as a "no show" and will have to go back to the end of the line, so definitely wait out front if you're there any later than opening. Otherwise, in a sea of numerous breakfast spots in Waikiki, Aloha Kitchen really does stand out. I only wish they had a bigger space, but wonder if that would take away from the charm of this space.

Pancakes are so fluffy and the potatoes that came with the Portuguese sauce meal was DELICIOUS. very friendly staff. Can get busy would get there early if possible for less of a wait. Small restaurant great vibes!

This place is pretty small, and the wait was about 20-30 minutes. The line was long, but the host/hostess was super energetic and definitely kept things lively. When my group (party of 6) finally got to the front, things took a weird turn. The host joked that I was "too big" and said they'd have to give our table to another party of six, implying that if I wasn't there, my group would've been seated right away. I brushed it off at first, but there were a few more side comments during the meal when he came by to check on us. It definitely put a damper on the experience. As for the food, I ordered the loco moco -- it was okay, nothing to rave about. The standout dishes were the soufflé pancakes and the lobster egg Benedict. Both of those were actually really good and worth trying. Overall, I'd say go for the pancakes. Just be prepared for a tight space and, apparently, some unsolicited jokes -- especially if you're 6'4" and 280.

Mac nut soufflé pancake
Nicole P.

We were excited to try this based on the reviews. We had a pretty short wait which was nice. The food is just not at all what I expected from the reviews. We ordered the loco moco, which overall lacked seasoning and had a layer of grease around the bowl that was just unappealing. Then we ordered the Mac nut soufflé pancake. I was most excited about these, they were completely cold. I asked if this was normal and I was told yes that's how they are. Sorry but the menu needs to clearly call this out. Completely ruined it for me. Lastly we had the breakfast plate with eggs and Portuguese sausage. The portion was an absolute joke considering the price. Would absolutely not recommend based on our experience.

Love this place. My new favorite when in Hawaii. Delicious eats, souffle so light and full of flavor. David is great, smile on his face and just so entertaining through the whole meal! Cannot wait to come back!

Ask the Community - Aloha Kitchen

Does this place have room for a party of 11 total (3kids included)?

Yes we do!

Do you take reservations?

No, we don't take any reservation

Will you be open on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Yes!

Do they do take out for breakfast?

Yes, they do.

I keep trying to call and no one ever answers the phone?

Aloha, Three hours behind west coast time, they close at 1pm. They come up on trip advisor, try an email. Maholo🤙🏻

Can you call ahead for a table?

Hi, I'm sorry. We don't take any reservation...

Is this place open? Mail box is full, no one picks up.

I was just there a week ago...so yes they should be open. They are crazy busy so might not have anyone free to answer the phone. Wait time for breakfast is always 45 minutes to an hour

Where can I park?

We found limited parking in town and walk from our rental condo which was 3 blocks away. I saw parking on the side street like Lipeepee St or Horbron Lane.

Does this place offer bottomless mimosas?

No- but they have great teas

Do they take Reservations for Mother's Day Breakfast?

Is there usually a long wait?

Yes. Wait was long and service is bad when it's busy. Try to sit closer to the kitchen. We were seated in the corner next to the window and we thought that was prime seating. But when it came to being served it was awful. The only thing good there…

I've tried quite a few different pastas, so I'm probably a little picky when it comes to them. For me, the price also felt a little high for what we got. The highlight for me was definitely dessert! I ordered Dorie Greenspan's Chocolate Cake with ice cream. The sauce contained alcohol, so I asked for it on the side, which they were happy to do. I ended up enjoying the chocolate cake with the ice cream, and it was really good. My husband ordered the Rocky Road, which I know is a popular dessert there, but we both thought it was just okay. The restaurant itself is really cute and had a great atmosphere. It was pretty busy when we went, which definitely gave it a lively feel. It's the table and space is very spacious that you don't have be afraid of been squished with other people. Besides that, they have a pretty good selection too! Price is reasonable with the portion of the food is serve. Miso Butter Fish 5/5: I will never be tried of eating & ordering the miso butter fish. It's definitely one of the best butter fish in a non-Japanese restaurant. It's buttery, with the perfect level of the miso flavor that's not salty or blend/no miso flavor. The fish it's cooked into perfection that's not overcooked. Although it's pricery compare to other dishes, but it's worth it; especially the butter fish is a pretty big size that comes w/ salad and rice. Grilled Garlic Chicken 4.5/5: The garlic chicken is not the same as a regular garlic chicken that you get from a barbecue restaurant; it doesn't have that barbecue sauce flavor. However, it's still taste pretty good. The garlic flavor is there, but not so strong that over power the taste of the chicken. More importantly, chicken is not overcooked as some restaurants can overcook the chicken. However, it comes w/ gravy on top of the chicken. If you eat it w/ the gravy, you probably will it be able to taste the garlic. Mac Nut Waffard 4.5/5 This is not the regular waffles. This "waffard" it's the Mac nut waffle that comes with their iconic custard, fruits and whipped cream. The waffle is super soft & fluffy with a crispy outside edges. Also, the waffle is not mushy, rather, it has a slightly mochi/chewy texture. The waffle is also not over sweet that actually can be pair with their famous custard fillings. Pancakes 5/5 I normally not a pancake person because I am afraid that it can be over sweet or very bland that has no taste but a flour flavor. But I fall in love with the pancake at first try because it's soooo fluffy and soft! More importantly, it's not sweet that actually can be paired with syrup and butter. However, it's also not bland that can be just eaten by itself without syrup or butter. Hands down on it! Plus, the size of the pancake is actually pretty big.
