    Love me my Palaka!!!!
    Elizabeth D.

Can I say Palaka Heaven fabrics! Was looking all over for the red Palaka print, everywhere was sold out. Found this place on google, located in dole cannery shopping center. Lots of parking, and easy to find. Across Costco, so it can get super busy. They all the colors of Palaka, with other Hawaiian prints. They didn't have a lot of selection for Palaka clothing due to holidays, but it's ok they had the Palaka fabrics I wanted! Sooooo happy I found this place! Staff were so helpful, friendly, and attentive. They offer an array of Hawaiian wear, adults, and children. They supply hula dancers as well. Definitely coming back, as this store is very stocked. Quality fabrics and not imitation fabric. I was so excited i forgot to buy elastic buttons, OH MY! See you there!

This spot has everything you need if you're in a halau looking for unicorns or costumes for shows, hoike's etc. the staff is very helpful! They helped me w/ my order and worked out pricing for all of the pareos I purchased. I called an hour before they closed, and she waited for me and stayed open until I got everything I needed. Thanks so much!

My daughter dances Tahitian, we always know where to find what we need for a showcase or competition. They have a large selection of everything, from pareo's, coco's , accessories, and more. And for a reasonable price. The owners and staff are always so friendly when we go here.

Identical skirt at Aloha Stadium for 1/2 the price that this store sold us saying "exclusive" & "hand-sewn"

Purchased 5 skirts here just a few days ago. I asked if they offered any discounts since I was buying multiple skirts. The lady who helped us said they didn't because the skirts they sell are exclusive to their store and are all hand sewn by her...and we fell for it. Fast forward today and we find the same exact skirts at Aloha Stadium for 1/2 the price! I called the store and asked if we could return the skirts explaining how the lady that helped us gave us false information about the product. The person who answered the phone apologized but said they didn't offer refunds and all sales are final. I don't recall seeing that policy at their store or I would have taken that as a red flag. I don't mind paying top dollar for quality items and from honest retailers, but these folks lied to our faces which I find so shady and unethical. Totally feel swindled but lesson learned. Now writing this review so others can spare themselves from becoming a victim too! Posting a picture of the same skirt I bought from this place which I found at Aloha Stadium for half the price!

Keiki Hula Costumes by Aloha Fabrics
    Lauren W.

Visited this shop at Dole to see if they could help with hula costumes for my Keiki Hula class. HUGE selection of beautiful aloha print fabrics and very helpful staff. Eric was the first to greet me and helped me search the inventory for the right fabric and he reserved the bolts of our selected print - we got the last of it! Rose helped take down our order for 18 custom length pa'u skirts, solid pa'u tops, and even fern hair pieces! They made custom Aloha shirts for our boys out of the same material. Tess made certain our entire order was perfect - double checking the length of the skirt measurements and making a pro tip recommendation to line up all the hems just right. The sewing is very neat and they didn't trim off any fabric so the skirts came out nice and full. The most amazing part - our order for 20 custom hula costumes was done in ONE DAY! Fastest service, awesome communication, and beautiful product. We will definitely be back again soon. Mahalo Aloha Fabrics.

Went because my friend and I needed skirts for our hula class and Tess was amazing! She showed us which kind of skirts looked best for us and also offered us bags for our skirts! She didn't have one made to match my skirt so she made one for me. You can tell that she has a passion for what she is doing! She showed us how to adjust our skirts and how to put them on. The price was decent especially since I know that I am supporting local. I highly recommend her if you are in need of any hula materials! Will definitely come back in the future!

I was in dire need to find a way to dress 22 dancers and hosts for an event that was taking place in just 4 days. By chance (or devine design...) I stopped by at Aloha Fabrics Hula & Crafts and met Tess, Rose, and Eric, who truly embody the meaning of Aloha. They listened to our needs, walked me through options they could offer, custom made enough pareo and sashes for our crew of 22 people, and provided us with a generous discount--all within a single day. Amazing. How beautiful it is to find new friends so full of aloha to share!

Born and raised in Honolulu and now living in the bay, I want to create diaper cakes using Hawaiian print materials to give them an aloha vibe. I created a list of fabric stores to visit, but ended up just checking this place out since it was in Kalihi, not far from where my mom lives, and I didn't feel like being in the crazy Oahu traffic to get to the other shops. Located in a warehouse off N. King Street in Kalihi, it wasn't very hard to find, and parking can be limited in front of the warehouse or street parking. When my mom and I walked in, we were amazed at the vast amount of material this place carries. A lot of Hawaiian print, Palaka, Japanese, Tahitian, and those cute Kawaii patterns (see my pics) to name a few. We received great customer service considering how busy they were. Daniel was pleasant and very helpful. Prices were reasonable, the prints I got were from $5/yd. They mainly carry rolls of material, some ribbon, and a few sewing accessories at the checkout counter. Daniel recommended I check out their Instagram for any new print drops, and they ship! Off 1 star for organization. There are some beautiful prints hiding under several rolls of fabric.

I've been a Vintage Mu'u collector for 10-15+ years and I was super excited to see their selection of Vintage Mu'u! I took a Lyft to get to South Street from Ala Moana and I was dropped off across the street so I was a bit disoriented at first lol. I had to make sure I was walking in the right direction since there wasn't a big flashy sign. I love the humble lit up sign that said "Alterations" in the window and once I saw a mannequin in window dressed with beautiful Vintage Mu'u, I knew I hit the vintage jackpot lol! It was an adorable store with vintage Knick knacks, accessories, jewelry in glass cases, an alteration station with fabric as you walk through the door, then another section filled with racks of Vintage Mu'u of every size, along with Tops, Palaka Shorts and I also noticed some Outerwear too. I was so excited that I hit the ground running and checked out every rack with my size and collected a good 8-10 or so Mu'u to try on. (I mean I am from Maui so I can't frequent this place much lol!) There were 2 humble dressing rooms with a small basket in the corner for your shoes and belongings. I loved the selection and most of all: the prices. They had vintage 80's-90's to maybe 60's-70's. I did see some rare vintage priced at $150-200+ but for the most part, reasonably priced for carefully curated vintage. I found 3 Mu'u at the end of my Vintage Haul. I scored a Black and Red Manuheali'i Dress (which aunty said everyone adored when it came in so that was definitely a score!) for $110 and 2 other Mu'u's, one was a Made in Hawaii with front bib detail in a cream color for maybe $40 and another Blue Andrade Mu'u for $45. This was definitely worth coming down from Maui. I will definitely be back on my next Oahu trip! The Aunty Owner and her daughter were the sweetest!

Our minds were set to look for a Hawaiian baby blanket or unique fashion accessory for the mother-to-be as the parents-to-be live on the Mainland. We excitedly browsed the store looking at traditional and modern quilt designs and expected that we'd probably end up spending no less than $100 (even with advertised 20% discount) as these quilts are beautifully handmade. Unfortunately, when we asked one of the saleswomen to direct us to their section for baby blankets, she kindly replied they didn't have any and the particular size quilt that I had picked turned out to be meant for wall-hanging. LOL... eh, I should have realized what those hanging tabs on one end of the quilt were for but the size looked "right" for a baby. She nicely directed us to another Hawaiian quilt store located on the opposite side of the Ala Moana Center while telling us that other store would probably have baby blankets and more fashion accessories, in other words, more souvenirs and functional products rather than artwork. Sorry, that we didn't buy anything from this store but they do have beautiful, handmade and one-of-a-kind Hawaiian quilts that represent this art form. They also offer quilting classes if you're interested in learning to make your own.

I got a FE diaperbag as a gift but had NO IDEA how to use it - it's an older version with the bassinet attachment. It was from an aunty, NWOT, and I don't mind it didn't have tags, or that it's an older version. I've always been the kind of girlie to thrift shop because I'm not a fan of what the clothing industry has done to our planet. This is why we went to FE-Kapolei in the first place: for someone to help us figure out how to use this thing. Read my review for the Kapolei location to know what happens next. Anyways, since that first visit, I visited FE a bunch of times because of their baby clothes. One reason I'm also not a FE person is the prints are too much for me. Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.
