June Fabrics is a great place for Hawaiian print fabrics and cotton palaka. They have a massive selection, and affordable prices. The exterior of the building is nondescript with lots of parking (front and side). It is family owned and operated. They sell quilt squares in a few sizes, when I went they sold it by weight and I got a huge pile for $5. My only issue was the lack of organization of the store layout, it can be overwhelming!

Located in kalihi across from tamashiro market. If you drive fast you're going to miss the road to go into. It's a small little road next to the elementary school. Parking is located right out front, not a lot of stalls. When you walk in there is a lot of choices of fabric. They even make hula attire there. They even have a whole wall of palaka. I was looking for a certain type of material but i was unavailable. The pricing was reasonable for their fabric. The service there... i got a weird vibe from the owner. I asked about a certain material and she said she doesn't know when it was coming in. I asked if she knew where else i could get it from? She quickly said "i don't know" without even thinking about it. The older lady started saying something to me and the lady spoke to her in their language. Not sure what was being said. But i thanked them and left.

The fabrics I left with :)

They have a wide selection of prints & kinds of textured fabrics! They're very helpful and quick to cut the fabrics that you want, and the prices are also very good for the quality of the fabrics:) ps- they do have minimum of 1yard which isn't bad at all

Taking these fabrics just one stitch at a time... Is something I really wished I had the skill to do...I seriously don't! *SOB!* but I do have the knowledge of what I do want and have chosen every fabric to cover every window in our house that Mom sews and now several has fallen to the brutal Hawaiian sun and have been on the hunt since we never purchased extra to rotate through. Located in Kalihi it's literally incredible their floor to ceiling inventory June Fabrics has though majority really are Hawaiian/Polynesian fabrics and many are stacked insanely on top of each other that a casual view is basically impossible, which when a delightful lady asked what I was looking for I was directed in the spot which I already did find myself and saw a few possible potential and will return later again with Mom for the final approval. Follow them on Instagram @junefabricshawaii which has a link to their online store for a sampling of their inventory and prices though for me nothing beats seeing what they have. Open Monday to Saturday from 9am-5pm June is the place for that vibrant tropical vibe, what would we ever do without sewone so skilled like you! Thank you!

Family owned and operated! Everyone working in June's is so incredibly friendly! The son assists the parents in the shop, and it's a rarity to see younger generations assisting and taking the torch from their parents. It's my favorite place to purchase fabric for my small business! Check out their Instagram for new prints and restocks!

Sewing is a useful hobby! My friend from first grade and I learned to sew a long time ago when it was the thing to do. Now, we appreciate this skill where we can make our own clothing, face masks, pillow covers, etc Since we were in the Kalihi area, we explored June Fabrics and found some great deals! Besides solid material ($3.50/yard), June Fabrics carried Hawaiian ($3.80/yard) and Asian prints ($5.50/yard), some sports team names, novelty designs, and even fancy sequined styles. I also saw buttons, lace, elastic, and thread! The door is open for fresh air, so, it can get warm at times. Parking is free right in front! Customer service from the young man is very helpful, so, go ahead and ask any question! Just remember that there's a cutting minimum of two yards!

I've been a Vintage Mu'u collector for 10-15+ years and I was super excited to see their selection of Vintage Mu'u! I took a Lyft to get to South Street from Ala Moana and I was dropped off across the street so I was a bit disoriented at first lol. I had to make sure I was walking in the right direction since there wasn't a big flashy sign. I love the humble lit up sign that said "Alterations" in the window and once I saw a mannequin in window dressed with beautiful Vintage Mu'u, I knew I hit the vintage jackpot lol! It was an adorable store with vintage Knick knacks, accessories, jewelry in glass cases, an alteration station with fabric as you walk through the door, then another section filled with racks of Vintage Mu'u of every size, along with Tops, Palaka Shorts and I also noticed some Outerwear too. I was so excited that I hit the ground running and checked out every rack with my size and collected a good 8-10 or so Mu'u to try on. (I mean I am from Maui so I can't frequent this place much lol!) There were 2 humble dressing rooms with a small basket in the corner for your shoes and belongings. I loved the selection and most of all: the prices. They had vintage 80's-90's to maybe 60's-70's. I did see some rare vintage priced at $150-200+ but for the most part, reasonably priced for carefully curated vintage. I found 3 Mu'u at the end of my Vintage Haul. I scored a Black and Red Manuheali'i Dress (which aunty said everyone adored when it came in so that was definitely a score!) for $110 and 2 other Mu'u's, one was a Made in Hawaii with front bib detail in a cream color for maybe $40 and another Blue Andrade Mu'u for $45. This was definitely worth coming down from Maui. I will definitely be back on my next Oahu trip! The Aunty Owner and her daughter were the sweetest!

'Ola helped me today with choosing a mu'umu'u that fit the criteria required by my kumu hula, and she was very knowledgeable. The store also had a variety of fabrics and sewing tools. The parking was great! There's a lot in the front.

Our minds were set to look for a Hawaiian baby blanket or unique fashion accessory for the mother-to-be as the parents-to-be live on the Mainland. We excitedly browsed the store looking at traditional and modern quilt designs and expected that we'd probably end up spending no less than $100 (even with advertised 20% discount) as these quilts are beautifully handmade. Unfortunately, when we asked one of the saleswomen to direct us to their section for baby blankets, she kindly replied they didn't have any and the particular size quilt that I had picked turned out to be meant for wall-hanging. LOL... eh, I should have realized what those hanging tabs on one end of the quilt were for but the size looked "right" for a baby. She nicely directed us to another Hawaiian quilt store located on the opposite side of the Ala Moana Center while telling us that other store would probably have baby blankets and more fashion accessories, in other words, more souvenirs and functional products rather than artwork. Sorry, that we didn't buy anything from this store but they do have beautiful, handmade and one-of-a-kind Hawaiian quilts that represent this art form. They also offer quilting classes if you're interested in learning to make your own.
