Visited June Fabrics for the first time on my recent trip back home. Want to try getting into sewing baby blankets and using them to add to my diaper cakes. Born and raised in Honolulu and now living in the bay, I want to create diaper cakes using Hawaiian print materials to give them an aloha vibe. I created a list of fabric stores to visit, but ended up just checking this place out since it was in Kalihi, not far from where my mom lives, and I didn't feel like being in the crazy Oahu traffic to get to the other shops. Located in a warehouse off N. King Street in Kalihi, it wasn't very hard to find, and parking can be limited in front of the warehouse or street parking. When my mom and I walked in, we were amazed at the vast amount of material this place carries. A lot of Hawaiian print, Palaka, Japanese, Tahitian, and those cute Kawaii patterns (see my pics) to name a few. We received great customer service considering how busy they were. Daniel was pleasant and very helpful. Prices were reasonable, the prints I got were from $5/yd. They mainly carry rolls of material, some ribbon, and a few sewing accessories at the checkout counter. Stopped by here for the first time this week with my sister to buy fabric to sew christmas gifts. They are located on Austin lane and we had no trouble finding a free parking stall right outside the entrance. They have a great assortment of fabric. The customer service was fantastic and quick and we were able to get in and out of there quickly. They have a minimum of one yard of fabric now which isn't bad at all. Highly recommend to come if you need a special fabric print or color that you need for your projects. read more

Daniel, the manager was very helpful and friendly and gave me some hints of where I could possibly get a seamstress. I was in need of someone to sell curtains and a bedspread for my condo rental place. They don't have much thread inventory and no sewing needles etc. just the type of thread that goes into the multi spool sewing machine. They have an overwhelming amount of fabric ! Great place to get Fabric if you're looking for any type of Hawaiian fabric! They also have some Japanese print fabrics, which is often hard to find! Large warehouse with an overwhelming variety of Hawaiian and other kinds of fabrics. The location is at the back of the schoolyard dirt driveway. We'll definitely return. read more

I bought a cover for my office chair seat some years ago but it didn't fit my new chair. The elastic was too short. I popped into June Fabrics to buy a longer piece of elastic. Located across the street from Tamashiro Market, it was easy for me to pop in as it is on my way home. Parking is right out front and there are a good amount of them. The owners are always so friendly and helpful and I get to practice my Korean language skills! K-drama's are not just for entertainment anymore! I purchased the elastic with ease and at a very reasonable price, while intentionally keeping my back to the warehouse full of fabric, then made a mad dash for the exit, before I got sucked in like I usually do. (I need more fabric like I need a hole in the head!) June Fabrics is a great place located in Kalihi, with all types of fabric with all types of fiber content, buttons, zippers, elastic, accessories, etc. Best shop! A+++ read more

June Fabrics is a great place for Hawaiian print fabrics and cotton palaka. They have a massive selection, and affordable prices. The exterior of the building is nondescript with lots of parking (front and side). It is family owned and operated. They sell quilt squares in a few sizes, when I went they sold it by weight and I got a huge pile for $5. My only issue was the lack of organization of the store layout, it can be overwhelming! read more

Located in kalihi across from tamashiro market. If you drive fast you're going to miss the road to go into. It's a small little road next to the elementary school. Parking is located right out front, not a lot of stalls. When you walk in there is a lot of choices of fabric. They even make hula attire there. They even have a whole wall of palaka. I was looking for a certain type of material but i was unavailable. The pricing was reasonable for their fabric. The service there... i got a weird vibe from the owner. I asked about a certain material and she said she doesn't know when it was coming in. I asked if she knew where else i could get it from? She quickly said "i don't know" without even thinking about it. The older lady started saying something to me and the lady spoke to her in their language. Not sure what was being said. Is something I really wished I had the skill to do...I seriously don't! *SOB!* but I do have the knowledge of what I do want and have chosen every fabric to cover every window in our house that Mom sews and now several has fallen to the brutal Hawaiian sun and have been on the hunt since we never purchased extra to rotate through. Located in Kalihi it's literally incredible their floor to ceiling inventory June Fabrics has though majority really are Hawaiian/Polynesian fabrics and many are stacked insanely on top of each other that a casual view is basically impossible, which when a delightful lady asked what I was looking for I was directed in the spot which I already did find myself and saw a few possible potential and will return later again with Mom for the final approval. I live on the Big Island and I am fortunate to have found this gem of a place for Palaka fabric. Once my order was placed, it was filled and out in the mail the next day and delivery within 2 days.. fastest service I have ever received. Sometimes its worth it to do research and not just wait for months for items to arrive at your local stores in Hilo. And the Palaka fabric is on point.. heavy cotton... Lots of selection in colors, types and the usual I am looking for; minus the frills in batting, interfacing and especially notions and gadgets, the fabric selection is large and the service is wonderful. Sewing is a useful hobby! My friend from first grade and I learned to sew a long time ago when it was the thing to do. Now, we appreciate this skill where we can make our own clothing, face masks, pillow covers, etc Since we were in the Kalihi area, we explored June Fabrics and found some great deals! Besides solid material ($3.50/yard), June Fabrics carried Hawaiian ($3.80/yard) and Asian prints ($5.50/yard), some sports team names, novelty designs, and even fancy sequined styles. I also saw buttons, lace, elastic, and thread! The door is open for fresh air, so, it can get warm at times. Parking is free right in front! Customer service from the young man is very helpful, so, go ahead and ask any question! Just remember that there's a cutting minimum of two yards! read more

I always thought we had only one big fabric store on Oahu, that is until I found out about June Fabrics. June's has a great selection and decent prices, but what I think truly puts them over the top is the amazing customer service! They are all so helpful, very nice, and they know what's in their store. I was trying to find a certain fabric, and although they only had it in one color, they knew exactly what they had in stock so I wouldn't need to search, and they helped me find something I could use instead. I pass this fabric store at least once a week while heading over to my favorite boba spot. With the demand for masks and other projects that require fabric, the other stores were just swamped with people. I decided to stop by one day and although there were others waiting to get in, it wasn't near as bad as the store closer to home. The area isn't a nice place to be, but I only spend about 15m in the warehouse. I like the selection, but... I wish there were character prints. There are no licensed characters that I could see. All of the workers are great. If they have it, guaranteed they can find whatever it is for you. I believe the minimum cut is 2y per and prices vary depending on material and print. On my last visit, the cutest dog came out of the office to say hello! So please, when driving near the shop, watch out for her! read more

Great assortment of fabric and good prices! I go there for their cotton palaka. Here's a funny thing the older man said to me when I showed him the palaka I use in my bucket hat...."we have a better palaka. Ours is a better quality." Then we asked about their dark green palaka (which was THE SAME type of fabric as my palaka in my hat) and he replied "this is a very good quality palaka from Indonesia and not from Thailand". IT WAS THE SAME FABRIC AND PRINT! JUST DIFFERENT COLOR! Hahaha!! I laughed to myself because it's the same cotton palaka that I just showed him. Hahaha!! read more

I currently live on Kaua'i and I ordered from June's for the first time a few days ago. Let me tell you all -- they don't play when it comes to shipping and handling. They shipped 15 yards of fabric to me the same day I ordered! When I received the fabric it was packaged so well I had a hard time opening the box. The palaka I ordered feels so high quality for such a good price. The colors are beautiful too which was why I decided to order from June's in the first place. With COVID-19 and less and less people sewing, I didn't know where to go to find soft, stretchy double knit for safety mask ear bands. Yelp to the rescue! June Fabrics came up in Kalihi, on Austen Lane, kitty corner from Tamashiro Market and next to Kaiulani Elementary School on the makai of S. King Street. Easy to find and parking right in front! I was warmly greeted by a nice young man. Once my temperature was taken and I sanitized my hands, I was shown the double knit area where I could feel the material and check for softness and stretchiness. Looking around the fabric warehouse, there are all kinds of material! Definitely need a guide unless you have lots of time and don't mind wandering around by yourself. Found what I needed in less than 5 minutes, had my material cut and paid for and I was on my way home! Woo hoo! read more

I LOVE this place!!!! I was looking for fun fabric for baby, and we found everything we were looking for and then some! They cut the fabric right where you stand, no need to move the rolls of fabric anywhere. Be prepared to be pleasantly overwhelmed by all the fabric they have! We bought so many cute kid prints for only $5.50 a yard. They offer prints you will not find anywhere else but Hawai'i. The people are super helpful and friendly. Located right across Tamashiro Market in Kalihi this place has been around for years and what I really like about this Fabric Store is the service here. Everyone here is so friendly especially the young man and also the lady and the older man as well. Not sure if they are family but I feel right at home when shopping for fabric here. My wife make Eco Drop Bags as a hobby and looking for beautiful looking Hawaiian Print Fabric is not a problem here. The only problem is picking out which designs we like the best and there is so much to choose from it makes your head spin. As for the Fabric here at June Fabrics, there is a minimum one yard minimum purchase per fabric design but I think they can work with you. What I also like about this place is that they come to you when you are in need of a fabric design being cut instead of carrying your fabric around which can get heavy. It's so nice to see places like this thrive. We try to come here as much as we can because we truly want to support Local as much as possible and the Family Style Service can't be best. My very first time there to view their pretty fabrics, amazing! Their prices are not much difference than Fabric Mart. However, more poly prints here that are stunning to me. It has lots of varieties to choose from when it's poly's! Just love the prints, especially their Honu's (turtles) and later will do my projects of them, then I can post a picture of my sewing! You will enjoy and now I get to work on it...happy happy customer! So excited to go see Junes Fabric Warehouse. Love this fabric spot! It's a hidden gem! It deserves so much more business. But selfishly I don't want to expose them because I may need to come back and restock again... Customer service is 10 stars!! Im pretty sure I encountered the owner and possibly son? Both assisted me and guided me throughout the store. They went by a ticket system and we all spread out. 2 customers at a time. I was next and was able to sit in the chair in the shade next to a fan! I immediately knew what I needed there and got almost everything checked off my list.. They don't have any character prints. Mostly solid and Hawaiian prints. There was quite a lot of different pa'u's made and hanging above. Once my halau reopens, I may need to revisit and pick out a few for practice! Love June Fabrics! This warehouse is filled with tons of fabric, color, and texture! You can find anything Hawaiian here - from aloha material to palaka to fancy materials to Japanese specialty items! Came here to get Palaka materials for some performance Aloha Shirts. There are two kinds of quality of Palaka here - one is a heavy cotton, another a cheaper polyester. Lots of colors and choices. I also found some material to make some pa'u and aloha shirts for hula dancers. Prices are reasonable - about $3 a yard. And, the best thing is that they will make the skirts and shirts for a very reasonable price. People here are super friendly! Some speak limited English, but there are two younger gents who work here who are super helpful and can communicate / translate. I've always enjoyed shopping here. I went to June Fabric about a month ago when Masks were just beginning in Hawaii. June's Fabric is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Kalihi on Austin lane. From the outside, don't judge a book by its cover. As you enter, the store has an array of fabrics, colors and designs from wall to wall and corner to corner. There's so much to choose from even if you're only allowed 2 yards per ream. You get try 1st Class service. All I did was pick out my Fabric choices. They cut, fold and hold your order Toll you're ready to check out. Great prices, Great Service & Friendly Staff. My 1st visit was on Friday. I went back on Monday. They remembered me. I never knew this store existed pre-COVID but found it one day when looking for fabric to sew masks. It's hidden down a lane next to the elementary school on North King Street. Initially they were great - allowed me to buy 1/2 yard increments, and after spending almost $200, thought this was a good store! I returned a few times after and still not issues, until my last visit when they were very adamant they do not sell in 1/2 yard; that was probably only a "one time" offer, and they never make exceptions. They were also pretty rude about the whole situation - and have no concept of working with the customer for a win-win situation. I didn't make a purchase that day and decided no business is worth patronizing if the people there are not appreciative of customers who try to use local stores. There are other options available in town and on the internet; I will not return to June Fabric again - maybe I'm just one customer, but it's not a place I would waste my time and money at again. read more

Being the daughter of a self-taught seamstress (by hobby, not profession), I have been to my share of fabric stores. June Fabric is just like walking in heaven. I walk in, and the choir of angels start singing. "Aaaaaawwwwwwwww!l I've been going to June Fabric since I was in intermediate (mid-90s). It is a family-owned business. They were originally located on School Street, just within walking distance from my parents' house (where I lived) in Kalihi. Being petite, I always had a hard time finding clothes that fit me. So my mom would always sew a lot of my clothes for graduation, banquets, and proms. I'd design it. My mom would sew it. June of June Fabrics is very friendly and extremely helpful. I guess he always saw us there so he knew my mom by name. The warehouse is now on Austin Street right across Tamashiro Market. It is a larger warehouse and is better able to contain the plethora of fabrics they sell. It is a warehouse. So don't walk in expecting an air-conditioned building with a fancy front desk area. I guess that's why this place sells fabrics at very reasonable prices. They sell every possible fabric material and design you can imagine...from silk to satin, from burlap to denim, from Hawaiian print to Asian designs. This place will have it. read more
