I recently visited Alo Yoga hoping to resolve an issue with a matching set I had purchased. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I initially bought the set, but it didn't fit properly, so I returned to the store to request a refund. I was informed that because the tag had been removed from the leggings, a return wasn't possible--which I understand may be store policy. However, I then asked if I could at least exchange the top or receive store credit. During the process, there seemed to be some miscommunication. Instead of proceeding with a store credit or exchange as discussed, the associate processed a refund in a way that left me unable to use the value toward another item. This added to the frustration, as I ultimately left the store without a resolution that felt fair or helpful. I had hoped for a more accommodating and customer-focused experience, especially given the premium nature of the brand. Clear communication and a bit more flexibility would have made a big difference read more

ALO @ FASHION VALLEY Parking is available in any of their garages for free. I'd highly recommend parking near the trolley station and crossing the bridge. Stepping into this Alo, there was a security guard that greeted us as well as a couple people from the front. I was looking around and found a perfect pair of shorts that I could get for my boyfriend. I then decided that I wanted to get these black shorts however they didn't have a size large. They only had other sizes instead. I asked this guy if he had a large by any chance in the back and he said that he would check on it after like 10 minutes of me just standing there. He comes back to tell me that they have it in the back and that they'll bring it out and I was like OK sounds great. A couple more minutes goes by and I can clearly see the guy in the back just folding clothes and I don't know who's coming out to bring the shorts for me so that's when I kinda realize that I don't know if anyone would come out in the next couple minutes. The customer service just wasn't that great just making me stand there and wait after like 15 minutes of just going back-and-forth. It was a waste of time, I feel like the staff could of restocked the shorts too, there was only 4 left on the pile, seems like a popular pair of shorts, yet there wasn't any other sizes besides an XL, but had many in the back. Overall, I would maybe try another location but I felt like this spot and service was way too slow. Alo is more on the higher end, so the value is expensive but seems like good quality. read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my best friend who is there to purchase a pair of athletic shorts for her boyfriend. They did not have the size she wanted on the floor and she asked an employee if they could check in the back to see if the size was there. He told her that someone else would come out and let her know as soon as possible. After waiting about five minutes, a female employee came out and told her that they do have the size and the original guy would assist her with finding it and giving it to her. We waited about 10 minutes and shopped around a little while we were waiting. After waiting for a while, we decided to go check the back to see what was going on. We find the original worker folding clothes in the back immediately when he saw us he said I'm working on that. Another five minutes goes by and we've probably been in the store for a good 20 minutes and we decide to leave. It didn't feel like we were getting helped and especially seeing the worker folding clothes instead of tending to the customers was kind of a turn off. Right when he saw us turn around to leave, I could see him peeking through a plant that was in between the back area and the main floor. He didn't say anything and we decided to keep walking. Ultimately, end of story, we left and didn't come back inside. Personally, I really like this brand however, this experience here was not positive. I've been shopping at this location for a while now and genuinely love the clothes, which is why this experience is frustrating to even write. As a Black customer and a regular shopper (I'm also an all-access member), I've consistently felt watched every time I come into this store. It often feels like there's an assumption being made about me, which is uncomfortable and discouraging, especially as someone who actively supports the brand. On my most recent visit, that feeling was even more noticeable. As I walked in, multiple employees seemed to be watching me closely, and it felt like there may have been communication about me over their walkies (though I can't say that for certain). What stood out most was the lack of basic customer service, no greeting, no acknowledgment, just staring. I even said out loud that it felt strange not to be greeted, and only then did someone come over to ask if I needed help. At checkout, the interaction felt just as off. The employee was very straight-faced, had a noticeable attitude, and didn't ask any of the usual questions like confirming membership. The whole interaction felt cold and dismissive. I understand that retail stores have loss prevention practices, but there's a clear difference between general awareness and making someone feel singled out. Being consistently watched, not greeted, and treated differently has made me feel uncomfortable and, frankly, profiled. I highly discourage supporting this business location for how they treat their customers -- I like alo too, but please for our sake buy online instead of at this location at least. This Alo location has the worst customer service I've ever had in my life at a store. They're very sales driven and lie. I tried to return stuff I got for my brother on his birthday -- the shorts not even tried on, the shirt he did try on and it was a bit small, and they said it had they both had a stain and been worn because the short band looks worn, that was not the case at all and they were lying, I tried so hard to see the stain they're referring to and it was nothing!!!! It was the exact condition I bought it in, it's been in the same bag I bought it in, tags never been off. I was with my friend and we were so shocked how they lie straight to your face. The manager was the one who helped me pick out the gift. It's in the exact shape he gave it to me in. They gave me store credit instead of processing a return acting like it's a favor because I got loud with them in front of the customers. I told them I am buying at a different store because of their behavior and the lady almost didn't want to even do the store credit when I said that -- they were the absolute worsttttt, I've never written a brand review, but this was the most triggering experience when you know nothing is wrong, when you know you didn't do anything wrong and you get embarrassed in front of people as if you've done something wrong because a store accuses you of untrue things. My gf that was with me then tells me her boyfriend had the same issue and they went to a different Alo store and were able to process the return so smoothly. So what's happening here it seems that the returns effect this stores sales -- so if you spend another $20 on gas and go to a different location they will process it for you because a purchase made at this store won't effect the return at other stores, it only effects it at this store since we bought here. read more

I ask the sales associate a question regarding locations in other areas, she was not sure so she asked her manager who happened to be walking by, to which she replied "I don't know...tell them to google it!" Wow! So rude! I spent $220.00 on a bra and a one pair of leggings as a gift. I just needed to know if they could exchange it if it didn't work out. The manager's lack of professionalism was so classless, I won't be back! Also, if this is the attitude she is breeding to her staff, then no wonder the Fashion Valley location has such poor reviews. Terrible customer service at Alo. All I wanted to do was exchange two pairs of shorts my mom had bought for my husband for a size up. Tags were still attached, and they were in the original store bag. The employee was able to look them up, found both in the size I needed--although one required switching colors because the original color wasn't available. After all that, they asked for a receipt, which I didn't have because I didn't want to hurt my elderly mom's feelings. She was so proud of getting him something "cool." I was told the exchange wasn't possible because it would "mess up their system." Really? If your system can't handle a basic retail exchange, then it's your system that needs an upgrade, not my request. It's upsetting because I still enjoy actually going to the mall, but experiences like this are exactly why in-person shopping is becoming a thing of the past. read more

Took it back to Alo and Evelyn E. was not a very helpful person Her demeanor was rude, hostile, and unkind from the start.she said the jacket that I just bought for from here 2 days ago had a stain . How could it possibly be from me? I just bought it and it didn't fit .She refused return called Manny their manager and he quickly came by saw the jacket quickly and said sorry we cannot take this . Then walked off. What kind of manager is this ? This is how I got this jacket . It was sold to me like this and I never noticed anything as quickly as I got rung up. Came here shopping because I had a wishlist on the app but it's so hard to shop online sometimes unless you already know how certain designs fit you. I was greeted right away, and knew what I came for. So it wasn't too hard to get what I needed just a tad bit of a hard time finding it. Mostly everything is pretty well sorted but sometimes I miss stuff. I had a young lady helped me out for an item I found online and she was super helpful and also brought me other examples of similar items in case I wanted to try them out as well. This location needs to step up their game on customer service. The employees don't greet you when you walk in, when i need sizes they don't even bother checking inventory in the back to see if theirs a size available. It's always the same answer.. "whatever is out on the floor is all we have" but today i have finally came to a determination to not support Alo anymore & take my Buinsess else where after what i experienced a few weeks ago.. I went to try a few outfits out in the fitting room & i see a fitting room available, door was wide open & no associates were nearby so i went inside. Shortly after an employee bangs loudly on my door to get out, i quickly half naked open door thinking it was an emergency or something had happened to my teenager who was out on the floor shopping, come to find out it was an employee named Kennedy telling me she needed to count my items before entering in a very upset tone. I explained that when i came back there i didn't see anybody & she made me feel very uncomfortable, embarrassed me in front of a few people, she made it seem as if i was trying shoplifting, not enough with that. She went to go tell another employee what had happened and even gave me a smirk when i walked out. When i handed the items to her saying i didn't like the way they fit on me, i walked away she told the girl " you see ". I never heard of this brand but my wife saw the gear online. She saw a hat she wanted to by from here. Going into the store it is very very clean. Everything was in place and sorted by style and color. The ladies working here must be really into Yoga. Very attractive and very helpful. They looked for a special hat she wanted. They didn't have it so we bought another one. We called a week later and they had the one she wanted in stock. It wasn't on the sales floor so the associate went to the back room and found the exact style she was looking for. The return was very easy and we were in and out with minutes. Really bad service. And I don't require much because I'm pretty self sufficient and don't like to be sold. I had a question on sizing and the answer was "I don't know". Totally fine to not know, but no initiative to find out. And then I asked if it came in another color and the sales associate just pointed and said "over there". I was in looking to buy a jacket. I found one and proceeded to the cashier. At which point she rung it up and asked for my email. I asked for a printed receipt and request not to give it and she said I have to in order to purchase. This review is NOT about the clothing. I think Alo is quality clothing (albeit a little overpriced). The one star is for the staff at this location. I felt so uncomfortable in the store. The staff made me feel unwelcome and like my being in the store was something I shouldn't be doing (mind you, I was even in full Alo, as I had just finished teaching, so it's not that I appeared as if I shouldn't be there). I was looking for leg warmers and after walking around the store for 15 min with no greeting and no help I went to the checkout counter to see if the girls there could point me in the right direction or to a staff worker that could help. They begrudgingly called another attendant over who, with total annoyance, went into the back for ANOTHER 15 min. Eventually I asked another staff member for help and they, also with annoyance, said "she'll come back" The girl comes out from the back, and calls to me across the store "WE DONT HAVE IT" So I left, no "do you need anything else?" Or "maybe you'll like this" or even a mention of their new line that they dropped this past weekend. I ordered the leg warmers, and 4 pairs of socks that they had in store, on my phone. I will not be back to Alo for in person shopping again and highly suggest someone give these girls some customer service lessons. I'd just like to say when I walked in the store wasn't busy at all. I've worked retail before I know what's it's like to be busy at the mall. When I walked in no one greeted me, as I looked around no one asked if I needed help. There were some employees standing around not working on anything, but they sure were picking and choosing to help certain guests. If you can go to La Jolla location they have best customer service. I was there today I am a regular customer . I left some clothes on hold they were not helpful the guy that put the hold on me was useless. I only put it for one hour. I was all over the store between the fitting rooms and the cash register. The staff is bad trained. This is the last time I visit this location I wasn't able to get my clothes because they have poor organization. read more
