Açaí cravings brought us to ALO CAFE HAWAII in Waikiki! What initially piqued my interest was the name. Is this cafe related to the yoga clothing brand "alo"?? Nope! :-) We decided to check it out anyway due to the rave reviews on their coffee and customer service. It was only 1-mile away from our resort, so we walked. ALO is situated in a building which was under construction, but the business is open. The cafe itself is on the smaller side...just enough room to place your order at the counter. There is a bar with maybe 3 seats available, but it certainly got crowded once we sat down to wait for our order. Don't let this deter from trying them out! We opted for the "Happy Bowl + Drink Combo" for a 10% discount. So, we ordered a Lilikoi Bowl + Iced Americano. Wow!!! I looked at my +1 and said, "We should've ordered two!" The bowl was so refreshing, fruits were crisp, the Lilikoi base was delicious!! Not very sweet. Nice compliment for the toppings. Of all the Açaí bowls I had on our 7-day vacation, would rank this as #1!! We loved this bowl so much, we decided to also check out the ALO cafe in Kaka'ako for lunch!
Amazing aloha spirit. Some beautifully curated, local products and delicious smoothies and açai fruit bowls. If you're lucky and they still have their banana bread, it's vegan and gluten-free sometimes it has chocolate chips. They went over the top to help me with some ginger tea with lemon and honey. I was so grateful. Big shout out to the wonderful. Anthony
When in Hawaii, one has to have fruit bowls! My boyfriend and I got the lilikoi bowl for breakfast and loved it. The passionfruit flavor is so tart and so real! The base has a perfect icy texture that pairs well with the fresh fruit on top. It's not too sweet at all. We sat at the bar to eat it together, and the large is definitely enough to share between two people. I enjoyed it so much.
Very small establishment with a counter to order plus four high top seats along the window. (Some of the photos on Yelp with arm chairs are not representative of this location). Overall the inside is super meh. More of a grab and go location. Anyway the three stars are because the açaí bowl wasn't all that great. The texture of the açaí itself was pretty icy and the flavor was strange...like it had an ever so slight after taste of mint or something herbal mixed into it which I did not like. The fruits on top were okay, but seemed less compared to other places. The almond butter was also added in clumps which made it pretty unpleasant to eat - as opposed to other places that coat the inside of the bowl or use a nozzle to evenly distribute the almond butter so it's easier to eat with the other ingredients. Anyway I'd much prefer the açaí bowls at either Honolulu coffee co or sunrise shack which are just a couple blocks away from here.
I was craving açaí and found this place I'd never tried before. The barista was super friendly and gave me the run down on all the different bowls. I tried the lilikoi bowl which is a bit more tart than traditional açaí and I really liked it. The fruit was super fresh and the agave syrup paired really well with the tartness of the base. They also give out free banana bread samples and repeat passes (15% or 20% off if you go again in 48 hrs). I highly recommend checking them out!
Came here because Kona Coffee Purveyors' line was too long. Had the açaí bowl and a latte. Açaí bowl was okay, but the coffee wasn't great. Wouldn't come here again.
Loved their açaí bowl! Service was a bit slow though even though I was the only one inside. Very limited seating so I took my bowl to the beach.

Always great service. The variety of smoothies, bowls, and banana bread continues to be a pleasant surprise. The staff are upbeat and helpful. We got the Waikiki Bliss and the Minty Hawaiian Smoothies this trip. Both were refreshing and delicious.
On my last visit, I searched high and low for an acai bowl to rival Da Cove, trying popular spots like Leahi, Lanikai Juice, and Nalu. All were just too sweet for my taste, making me wonder if they use those pre-made Costco packets. Enter Alo Cafe Waikiki, a small gem run by two lovely ladies, Aya and Christina. (There is a second location in Kakaako - I will being visiting again soon!). They even offered me samples of their delicious homemade banana bread (which I regretted not purchasing) and were happy to custom-make a mango smoothie (I would skip the smoothie next time personally, as it was nothing special?) The true highlight was their acai bowl, crafted from a homemade recipe. The texture was perfect - delightfully icy and, finally, not too sweet! I got the large, planning to share, but ended up devouring most of it. My only minor note is that I'd love more fruit, though you can add extra for a charge. Highly recommend!
We got the medium acai bowl and they kindly let us substitute cacao nibs for kiwi! It is only $1 to upgrade so I would probably recommend upgrading. The acai bowls are a little bit more expensive than other places around here but more health focused (icier blend and less sweet and smooth). Comes with lots of yummy fruits and macadamia toppings. This location of ALO is more of a takeout place, not much seating! They also have a vegan banana bread that is made without added sugar, $7/ slice. Keep in mind there is a small credit card fee, 4% or something like that.
We happened to be in Waikiki and wanted smoothies and found this place on yelp. It's a bit hidden the place has scaffolding around it right now. My husband got the medium açaí bowl which was good but pretty small for $15. And I got the island breeze smoothie which was $11 again pretty pricey but it is Waikiki so it's kinda expected. The drink was very tart and all I could really taste was the pineapple nothing else.

It was fine for fresh fruit base in Hawaii- but for the price $16 for the large i would have hope for more fruit toppings.

Whenever we are in town, we love to get the açai bowls from this spot! They're always absolutely delicious and hit the spot every time! Their lattes are also quite good. The service is always excellent and although there really isn't anywhere to sit, you're just a block away from the beach. read more

Best place among the many in Waikiki to get açaí bowls. It's a way to both chill and be healthy. ALO is located in a pretty busy area. Kind of hard to find because it's an unassuming looking place. There's not much room inside so most people get takeout. A good place for breakfast and lunch. It's open pretty early so get a healthy start. The açaí bowls are the main thing. Fairly okay prices for the portions. They lack a lot into these. It's about $13 for a small one. The Açaí Bowl is the classic flavor, topped with bananas, blueberries, cacao nibs, granola, honey, macadamia nuts, pineapple, and strawberries. Honey can be changed to agave for no extra charge. They also have baked items like zucchini bread and that kind of stuff. Good place to get something cool literally and figuratively. It's located on Kūhiō at Ka'iulani. There's many options for vegans and vegetarians. read more
We walked by and knew we had to stop in for breakfast treats once we saw that they had acai bowls. I got a small Lilikoi Bowl and it was tasty. The texture of the lilikoi base is icy and it does get sweet after awhile with all the fruits and toppings. The small bowl was a decent size, but I would't say it would fill you up. read more
Here's a little "Hole In The Wall" fruit bowl cafe. It's a little hidden because of the scaffolding and the building looked abandoned due to all the boarded up windows. But it's there. Service- it was excellent and staff was very friendly. Food- had the Vegan Banana, peanut butter toast with chocolate nibs. Very healthy and filling. The peanut butter paired so well with the banana. read more
I got a large signature acai bowl. It was fresh and tasted great. The smoothie portion has more of a solid texture like ice cream which other people may not like. The bowl is on the pricier side but includes blueberries and pineapples. Friendly service. They have limited seating inside the store. read more

ALO Cafe Hawaii is a little cafe that serves açaí bowls, smoothies, banana bread, among other things. Again, this place is small so just be aware it'll seat just a few there. The menu isn't huge, it has all of your basics including açaí bowl options. The staff here was friendly. She was by herself, but pretty attentive and made sure to greet us and let us know she'll get to us. We got two bowls here. The basic berry açaí bowl, and a peanut butter one. So let's rate both. The peanut butter chocolate one, while okay in small doses, was just way too much in practice. I mean, it was good for maybe the first 4 or 5 spoons of it, but then it became clear there was no chance for me to keep eating it. Just way too rich. The berry version was better and felt more refreshing. I could certainly keep eating that berry blended stuff they had in there. Felt more like a bowl of eat as a snack or smaller meal as opposed to the PB and death bowl. All in all, nice spot with some good açaí bowls. I do wish the prices were slightly lower though as these açaí bowls were certainly not cheap. Though, wasn't bad at all for the berry bowl, and you get a good amount of ingredients crammed into each bowl. read more

Wow! What a warm, welcoming vibe upon entering this beautiful Kaka'ako location. Staff were professional and friendly. Love the plant-based, local ingredients. We ordered the Hawaiian Roll & Kale Salad and the Coconut Curry Bowl. A-MAZING flavors. The staff also included their amazing tahini dressing to add to the Hawaiian Roll - and it really elevated the roll to a whole other level! Mahalo to the team and restaurant. We ordered and sat in the restaurant around 2pm. They close at 3 but never felt rushed, in fact they told us to relax and take our time. great experience; will be back again soon to work our way through the menu. Mahalo Alo Cafe! read more
We stumbled on this place right next to our hotel and it's definitely a hidden gem! There are so many acai/breakfast places to choose from in Wakiki, but ALO cafe is great! We got the lilikoi bowl, perfect for the hot Hawaii weather. The base doesn't have much lilikoi flavor but is predominantly banana, which isn't bad but not what we expected. The strawberry, banana, and kiwi topping is delicious and super fresh. The base was a little icy, but not unwelcomed. The store gives off great beach town vibes and the baristas (?) are very kind. They seem to have fresh Dole pineapples, which makes a world of a difference. Great little cafe for acai! read more

This is a small shop with only 1 person working there while we visited on a weekday afternoon. They serve acai bowls, smoothies, coffee/tea, and banana bread. The acai bowls come in small or large size, with the large being only $1 more. I still went for the small, and it was plenty big enough for lunch. It was packed generously with organic acai, granola, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, pineapple, mac nuts, raw honey, pineapple, & cacao nibs. I added homemade peanut butter, which was very yummy, but the peanut butter does overtake all other flavors in the bowl. It's probably best to order to-go as there isn't much seating. The server was super friendly and even told us to try Nalu, another acai bowl place, which I found very odd to mention their competition. I enjoyed my bowl, and felt satiated and refreshed. read more

Oh my gosh this place ROCKS! Love love LOVE. My partner and I went here for breakfast 4 times this week. The staff is amazing and so welcoming. They had great recommendations and everything was SO delicious. Highly quality ingredients and great vegan options. We got an açaí bowl, smoothie, banana bread, avocado toast, peanut butter banana toast ~ honestly the whole menu over the week. Hoping to come back soon! read more

The Acai was quite disappointing. The Acai was frozen and gritty. However, the toppings were fresh. The value for product was poor. Very small, so limited to no seating. Would be best for a grab and go. Not awful, but wouldn't go back. read more
