Allyu is my favorite spa in Chicago. I go to Allyu every month for facial and massage. Nicole is my go-to for facial. She is wonderful. She personalizes my facial treatment each time based on the condition of my skin at the time. Tina is one of the best massage therapists I worked with. I also love the relaxation area. I highly recommend Allyu! read more

I work in the building and due to convenience, figured I'd give it a try. I ended up sitting there for an hour and a half only to receive the sloppiest manicure ever. My manicurist did not clip cuticles, clean nail beds, buff nails, or fully remove my old polish. When I mentioned that my old polish wasn't removed she said she'd remove it but never did. To top it off, the no chip polish is bumpy and full of bubbles. I addressed this with the front desk and they added a $40 credit to my account which I'll never use. Waste of money. read more

I want to start off my saying this spa is well kept, relaxing with a friendly atmosphere. The massage I got last week was comfortable and calming, and my masseuse ( I forgot her name) was attentive and asked me if there was anything she could have done better. I appreciate these two positives. My negative review is about manicure quality. My manicurist, Sam, was a sweetheart and I loved talking to her. She gave wonderful hand and foot massages. However, less than 24 hours after my manicure, most of my nail polish on my nails chipped. There is a large portion of naked nail from my cuticle and where the nail polish actually begins. I'm incredibly upset by this given how luxurious and expensive this spa is PLUS I paid extra for fast drying nail polish that's supposed to be better quality, per the salon. This manicure was a gift from my boyfriend and I saved the certificate from February of this year until Friday 9/8 for a wedding I was in. I'm beyond upset that my nails looked awful for the wedding as I was embarrassed to say I got them professionally done. I never write reviews, but I'm extremely upset by this salon's manicure quality. read more

My Personal Spa Day at Allyu was breathtaking. Started off with the spa mani/pedi which was delightful all throughout including the scrub and mask during the pedicure. My only con about those two services was there could be improvement in the precision of the nail care. The trimming, filing, and buffing could have looked a lot better. The customizable one hour facial and one hour massage were well worth the coins spent. I wish I can give more detail on what was done during the one hour sessions but I instantly drifted off into Dreamville, however my face and overall body were on cloud 9 afterwards. I felt zen during my entire experience from walking into the doors and slipping into their slippers while drinking warm chai tea to laying in their heated massage table. Another thing to note is that they do have space for coats and shoes but they do not have personal locker space for your wallet/purse/personal items so you would have to carry that with you in a provided Allyu tote bag or check it in up front. read more

Beautiful location and splendid interiors but massage itself was not worth it. I went for a prenatal massage and my therapist was not very knowledgeable in prenatal techniques. I've been to other prenatal places where I come out relaxed and my muscles at ease but this was not one of those. The front desk staff are very...uninterested, they asked me how my experience was and I gave the same feedback. They had no response and went ahead to charge my credit card and check me out. read more

I have visited this spa in the past many times and have had a pretty good experience. However in recent months, the service and quality of service does not match the Spa experience presented. Im not sure if there is new management but service and customer service has plummeted significantly. I recently missed an appointment (but really would have shown up significantly late) due to weather and traffic conditions and instead of them being understanding they asked I prepay 50% for my next appointment. This is absurd as this was not a repetitive issue and I am sure this mandate would not have been made had I not been black. The customer service is terrible! Do not recommend!! And, you have the nerve to go up on prices?! How about fix your level of service to align to a high caliber spa facility first. Never Allyu! Never again! Do better! Hire better!! Why so much turnover! Hmmmm.... read more

My partner and I did the couples spa day package that included time in the infrared sauna, sitting in the meditation tent, 60 min massages, and hot stone pedicures. Overall it was a very nice experience. The sauna was cool and there are private showers for you to use after you get all sweaty. The meditation tent is just a glorified waiting area so I'm surprised they list it as an "experience" in the spa package. The massage was good, my partner said it was incredible. The hot stone pedicures were great as well. I thought the pricing was fair for all the services and the tip is already included in the price which is convenient. We went in March 2022 and I don't see the same couples package on their website anymore so I'm not sure if they took it off the menu. read more

Back again at Allyu and it didnt disappoint. This time I saw Jackeline for facial (amazing as always) and Virginia for massage + scalp treatment. She was wonderful. Extremely on point for all my tough spots and took the time to tend to each trigger point and work through them. She was knowledgeable and kind. The shower room is a must if you appointment time allows! Will be back again soon. read more

Exceeded my expectations to say the least! Sandra did my prenatal massage while Jen did my husbands in a couples retreat we did. Hands of an angel I feel completely reset. Their kindness and hospitality just made the experience all that much better. Sandra and Jen even took the time to show my husband some lower back exercises to help me on a daily basis. I couldn't be more thankful! read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. As inconvenienced first time customers we were treated like criminals. The service was absolutely terrible. My girlfriend and I scheduled a couples massage for 1/25/22. When we arrived we were told that we "did not schedule a couples massage, we scheduled a massage for two people." As first time customers, we were confused as to how this was miscommunicated and wanted to cancel our current appointment and reschedule a couples massage. The manager kept repeating "Usually people know that "two massages, means separate massages." But do they? We didn't and why didn't they clarify that with us when we scheduled? We were told that we would have to pay a cancellation fee that was 50% of the original price. Flabbergasted by that statement, we asked if they can make an exception because this miscommunication was not our fault--we felt they should've clarified/confirmed, that we wanted a couples massage when we scheduled the appointment. They responded by telling us if we did not pay the cancellation fee, we would be banned from their business forever... I tried hard to explain that this miscommunication is not our fault, especially as first time customers and we should not penalized for something like this. They made no true concessions. As a result, my girlfriend and I are banned from an establishment we never even used. I hope they do not treat all of their customers with this much unprofessionalism. Maybe they think our dollars are not as green as everyone else's because we are black. read more

I never had a massage before, but I was in town for stressful reasons so I figured why not! I booked a 60 min massage last minute and was able to get an appointment for the next day since there was a cancellation. My masseuse was Cindy, who was amazing! She asked me about what my goals were from my massage and explained her holistic process as an energy healer. She checked in with me throughout the experience just the right amount. Though we chatted throughout, if you're looking for a quiet experience, I'm sure you can mention this to her. She had a gentle touch but the effects of her movements were so impactful. Super attentive. The receptionist told me she's usually booked up, so I was lucky to book this and I can see why because she really prepared me for my trip. FIVE STARS TO CINDY!! read more

I'm still reeling from my appointment, but in the best way possible! My previous massage therapist left Chicago, and I was reaching total desperation level for finding someone new. After someone recommended Allyu, I decided to give it a try, and I'm so beyond happy I did. First off, the space is very beautiful and smells amazing. The front desk staff was super on top of things and welcoming. I love that they take you to a meditation space prior to your massage as well! My massage with Mariah nearly brought me to tears, I was so happy. I showed up and my neck hurt at even the slightest touch. Within 20 minutes, she had basically gotten rid of all of my neck pain. I couldn't believe it. I really do feel like a new person after my 60 minute massage, and already have my next appointment booked. I recommend Allyu, and Mariah in particular, to anyone considering getting a massage! read more

I've been getting a 90min facial once a month since May, my facial is with Ann Marie. She is the absolute best, and her facials are so amazing. She goes above and beyond with making you feel good and so relaxed. For me, she pampers me and takes away all stressful things that go on in someone's daily life within those 90mins. She is the nicest person and I thank her for all she does. Allyu is a great place, I recommend it highly. read more

I booked a chakra balance & massage with the fabulous Cindy last month off of a reco from the receptionist who said her clients just keep coming back. I see why! She had such great energy and made it a full experience where I felt like I made a friend, realigned my energy and left feeling refreshed from a relaxing massage as well. Quality spa and great staff as well. read more

As soon as I walked through the door I took a deep breathe in and a deep breath out, the space permeates relaxation.  Beautiful crystals and oils adorn the space and are also for sale. It was built using reclaimed wood and is earth friendly. The staff was extremely attentive and kind.  I love how none of them wear shoes.  Moriah did my massage. Aside from the massage I had in a cave in Bermuda (hard to top) it was the best massage I have gotten.  She communicated and was in tune. If I wasn't moving back East I would attend their meditation classes. read more

This spa was a bit hard to find, but the search was worth it! We did a zen scrub and massage and it was certainly heavenly. The moment you walk to the back of the venue, you feel like you are transported to another place that is no longer in the basement of of a building. I had a great time and definitely will be back. read more

Expensive but always worth the splurge! I've gotten a facial here and 2 massages with scalp treatment add ons. The scalp massage is sooo worth it in my opinion and it's what keeps me coming back. Such a relaxing vibe as well. read more

Your senses are stimulated from the moment you pull open the door of this spa, located on the lower level of the building. The smell of incense lingers in the air, immediately calming you. They lead you to a small area and exchange your shoes for sandals, the first step in the relaxation process. But at the moment they lead you back to the "Relaxation tent" you will feel you have been transported to another time, another place as the perfect B flat note resonates through the air and takes hold of the rest of your senses through your ears. Located in the center of the spa- the relaxation tent inspires images of a sheiks tent or of some desert oasis. There are comfy sitting areas that can be closed off with curtains but the darkness alone isolates and impacts. You are taken to your services from this tent. I was led to a room that also smelled amazing and got undressed for my service which was a lovely facial done by a talented technician. The real world slips away as you rest on the heated table with fragrant creams and lotions applied to your face along with a hand and foot massage. In addition to facials, they do threading, waxing, nails, massages, basically anything you would want from a day spa. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that there are limited shower facilities so if you plan to shower after your massage, know that the wet area is limited and needs to be reserved when making your appointment. It's funny- I've been in this building many times to visit Japonais or a number of the other businesses in the place but didn't know that Allyu was located on the lower level river side. But now that I do, given the pleasant, efficient staff, the great services and the reasonable prices, you can bet I'll be back. I have never been as relaxed as I was in that tent. Must have been the combination of the dim lighting, the wonderful scents and that mournful B flat tone. It transported me to another time . . .another place . . . .and isn't that just what you want a spa to do? read more

Yesterday was my second visit to Allyu for a prenatal massage. I went the first time 2 months ago because it was a gift (I don't normally get massages very frequently in general, they're pricey!) and was assigned Moriah - she was fantastic. So good, in fact, that I went back to her yesterday coming all the way from Uptown. The overall atmosphere is very calming, and Moriah asked what areas to pay special attention to and which to avoid. She is great at finding knots I didn't even realize I had, and uses the perfect amount of pressure. I also like her setup because she has you lay on your side while she works and then sits you up at an incline for the last few minutes to work your neck and shoulders. I mention this because I had a disappointing experience on my baby moon at a spa in Lake Geneva in between my two visits here, where I laid face-down on a special pregnancy table that had a belly hole cut out and it was just not that comfortable. I plan on going back one more time before I give birth, and hopefully again postpartum, because hey, I deserve it. read more

Visited over 10x over the years. Massages are the best in the city. Skilled staff who truly listen and provide both relaxation AND therapeutic relief for those achy days. Tip: Last minute massage appointments are hard to come by. You'll need to book at least 1-2 weeks ahead. Manicures use natural/organic products. They chip pretty easily. read more

I've returned here twice more - usually when I have out of town guests looking for a relaxing day and they've both been impressed! I love the atmosphere here, truly relaxing! Sopanya does a great mani/pedi but I haven't met any team members here who haven't done a good job. read more

Amazing!!!!!!!! Request Chris. His hands are beyond amazing and he is so knowledgeable. I was having some lower back pain before I came and he explained very thoroughly where it's coming from and showed me stretches to alleviate the pain. I wish I could have stayed all day! Such a blissful experience. Do yourself a favor and reserve the rain shower 30 minutes before your service, and enjoy that hot shower in that sexy bathroom. Get all nice and relaxed before your 90 minute massage to Heaven. Once your done, spend some time in the meditation area with a hot cup of tea before floating into the outside world. Thank me later! ;) read more

Upon entering, I was hit with an intense wave of incense which I appreciated, however, for someone a bit sensitive, I could see how this may be overwhelming. I had booked the signature pedi and gel mani. My tech was Rachel and she was nice, but... The atmosphere was quiet, calm, and relaxing and I loved the fact that it was not packed, so I really got a chance to relax. The warmed neck pillow Rachel provided throughout my services was greatly appreciated. I was a little disappointed that the only nail color brand that they use is Zoya and a quick dry polish for an additional $5. Knowing that they were already charging me additional fee to remove my gel, I did not feel it was worth it. The pedi was nice and relaxing, but worth $80? It's not that serious. The mani...I have been getting "no chip" or "gel" since 2012 and never have I encountered a tech that could not completely remove my polish and then blame it on my "thin" nails. My nails do not chip, split, nor are they thin. While some people's nails are thicker than others, mine are perfectly fine. I use OPI and apparently, unless you use acetone, which it seems Allyu frowns upon, it can take an eternity to remove. Again, I never have that problem anywhere else. While Rachel did offer to use acetone after the fact, I was over it and the appt had taken more time than necessary. I think she could sense my aggravation, as she did not ask me to come back again. Maybe for the amazing massages that I keep hearing about... While I was a little frustrated, the front desk staff was just superb and very attentive. read more

I decided to wait half a day before I wrote this review so I could give a measured review of a place that I used to enjoy going to over the last many years. My friends and I had started going to Allyu as an annual birthday tradition and we had always loved it. I was not a monthly visitor but I did go for massages every few months the last one being in August (before yesterday). While a little overpriced, the service used to be exemplary and the massages were very good. Over the last few times that I have been there, I have noticed a lowering of the quality of the massages I have received but I chalked it down to difficulty in getting good labor post the pandemic and it was not something I thought was bad enough to go somewhere else. However the incident yesterday has made it clear that I will not be returning. I had gone in for a 90 min massage that I had been anticipating for a while now (work has been stressful so I could not wait to relax in quiet environment) - right from the start as I tried to relax I keep hearing a loud gushing noise in the room; I thought it would go away so ignored it at first only to have it keep coming back in regular intervals. After the 3rd time it happened about an hour in, I had enough and asked the masseuse Edith what that was. Apparently the shower room was next door and every time it was used I had to listen to that noise. The masseuse asked me if I wanted to stop and even though initially I thought I could get through it, I had had enough. I asked her to stop and went to the front desk. I was quite upset and I asked them why they would put me in a room right next to the shower knowing people will use it. 1. For those who have experienced it before, often the brown and black people are the ones who get put in such "less than desirable" options just like when we are seated at the worst tables in restaurants (and yes it happens all the time!). So I asked them if it was to put the brown woman in the crappy room and they had no answer for it. 2. They said they could not plan for customers taking showers which I get. But then why put anyone in the room next to the shower when you know it will be used? Even worse why would you not ask me before the sessions started if I was ok with it or would I want another room? 2. Instead they tell me that I was sensitive to the sound more than others. Imagine that! I come in for a massage and I have the nerve to expect a quiet, peaceful 90 min session that is not cheap by any means! I was upset and their explanation seemed to put me at fault. I was not upset at the masseuse (Edith) as it was not her fault as they get allocated rooms. But I was upset at the management for treating me so callously. So I asked pointed questions to the front staff. 3. Edith got very upset with me. She had the nerve to tell me to speak respectfully to them! I was not disrespectful to them at all but asked them why they would do this? How about the establishment treat me with respect and not pretend that I am at fault for not wanting noise while I get a massage? How about they treat me with respect and ask me before we get started if I was ok with it? And then she huffs off! Clearly the customer is always wrong! What a pathetic display of customer experience! 4. Then the manager comes out and offers me a discount - so I could pay for the hour of non-relaxing massage! What discount when I paid for the full hour of a crappy massage? Any other establishment would have at least taken 50% off but not them. I had enough and paid them to get done with it; only to have them ask me if I wanted to offer gratuity. For someone who mouthed off at me and then walks off in a huff? Right. Edith does not belong in customer service with that attitude. A truly atrocious experience that I do not intend to repeat with this establishment. There are a gazillion massage places around so to be this arrogant and bereft of customer service is shocking. I gave them 2 stars for the past experience - otherwise it would have been zero stars read more

Best massage in Chicago. I first took my then girlfriend (now wife) here on our first weekend alone in the city. Although it is located in a strip mall of sorts, as soon as you walk in you are transported to a different place mentally. The staff is wonderful and the Zen tent is a phenomenal way to get your head in the right space. Since that weekend we have been to three other businesses for massages (including the Waldorf Astoria mind you) and no place even came close. We returned on the day I proposed and we will never go anywhere else for a massage. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. I have told everyone I meet in chicago to go here. This is by far my favorite spa in the city. I've been coming here for years and the staff is super nice. My favorite part though, is the relaxation tent you get to hang out in before and after the session. Knowledgeable, really comfortable to be around, and a fantastic practitioner. read more

I went to Allyu for a manicure and pedicure. The experience of being there was very relaxing and fantastic. The actually painting/filling/cuticle was pretty awful. Had my second massage with Cindy this week and I have to say she is so gifted! I am very picky and am very happy to have found her. She is worth the long drive in from the suburbs. As a Christmas gift to ourselves I bought the couples massage package. The place was hard to find, we drove past it twice, and I would highly recommend get $4 valet over $9 street parking. After signing the covid waiver form, we hung up our stuff put on our slippers and directed to the sauna room. Omg it was so amazing I fell asleep. Afterwards we showered, which my bf loved because it was a rainfall type. Next we were in the waiting room which was pretty chill. It ended with soothing massages by Ariel and Dorie. This place is a gem! read more

What an amazing spa! Allyu is located on the Chicago River, off of Chicago Avenue. There is a parking garage and street parking if one is driving, but otherwise walking and/or public transportation provides easy access. From the moment one steps in, there is a sense of serenity and tranquility. As it was my first time, I showed up a few minutes early to fill out some paperwork. I was provided a pair of slippers to wear during my visit (nothing that I was used to as this was my first visit to a day spa). Joe is one of the best massage therapists in my opinion. I know Joe from other places. He has practiced many years and under many teachers. He knows how to work the muscles in getting rid of the pain and stress from sitting at my desk 10-12 hours per day. He uses a variety of methods, not any particular one, depending on the muscular issue. Joe does not use too many oils or creams, and so I never walk out like I need to shower or wipe away excess oils. One follows a hallway of rock walls to the treatment areas. The rooms are serene and tranquil. There is a Thai/Indian ambiance to the whole space. Music was soothing. The best part of the spa is the tranquility waiting room. I won't describe it as a picture is worth a thousand words (see picture). I would definitely come back to see Joe, and may next time try Allyu's other spa treatments. read more

Love allyu spa. They get busy so if you're looking for a weekend appointment then you need to book at least 3 weeks out in advance. I absolutely love coming here and it's become my favorite place to get a massage. I've worked with at least 2 different massage therapists and each one has been fantastic. They take the time beforehand to get to know your concerns and cater your massage to what you need. I dislike it when i go to get a massage and it feels like the therapist has his or her own agenda / routine that suits them, but not necessarily you. Little known fact, if you think you'll be a regular, an alternative to getting a membership it to prepay a package of 5 of the same service. You save 10% when you do this. read more

What a great place! I wish we had one of these in Miami. Well priced and beautiful! I had the best massage of my life here! The lobby and meditation/waiting are both beautiful. We checked in and changed into slippers. The room had hooks and nooks for all of your belongings. I wish I would have done more services and booked the showers.
