I was gifted an experience at Aire Baths, and for the most part, it was amazing! We didn't know what to expect, but we were truly satisfied with the service we received, with one exception: the massage. After reading reviews dating back several months, I realized that other people had experienced the same issue. Let me start at the beginning. I made my reservation for a Sunday at noon. When we arrived, we were told that our reservation had been canceled. Naturally, I was confused because I hadn't canceled it. We were asked to take a seat while the staff looked into the matter, and they quickly figured it out. Brittany at the front desk did a wonderful job explaining what had happened. In the end, it turned out to be an error on my end, but she remained friendly, professional, and accommodating. She offered us another date and time and even compensated us for parking. Thank you, Brittany! The bath experience was everything I needed to cleanse my soul. The waterfall area and the eucalyptus sauna quickly became our favorite places. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and exactly what we had hoped for. Now, on to the massage. My wife and I were in the same room. She had a female therapist, and I had a male therapist. Unfortunately, our experiences were completely different. My therapist spent most of the session lightly rubbing my feet and legs. He never touched my hands, fingers, neck, or head, all of which my wife received during her massage. He did ask whether there were any areas I wanted him to focus on, and I mentioned that I had tension in my upper shoulder area and that I had a shoulder injury. He concentrated primarily on the injured shoulder and very little else. I was genuinely surprised when he told me the session was over. My first thought was, "Wait, where was the rest of the massage?" I would really like to see Aire invest in more experienced massage therapists, especially since this appears to be a recurring concern among guests. That said, the massage experience did not ruin our visit. I would absolutely return, and I would still recommend Aire to my family, friends, and coworkers. read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM Use Caution when booking. I booked my reservation on May 23, 2026 for July 19, 2026 for my 11 year anniversary. Showed up and it was closed due to construction issues with the city. I received no email or phone call that it would be closed. Very embarrassing. I've called over 6x asking asking for a refund $720. Each time I've called it the same response "sorry someone from our management team will call you back". Nobody ever calls me back. I disputed the issue with my credit card company and AIRE responded to them saying that the service was complete forcing me to open another investigation with the city and having to look in legal counsel to take them to court. I am beyond frustrated. Never thought this is how they would do business. Apart of me feels that they lost so much business during the time they were "under construction" that they can't afford to keep the lights on let alone issue a refund. I would stay away. read more

Not so bad... Pretty Chic. I like it. They take you back. Guys and girl separate. You each have your own locker rooms. They give you direction and off you go. There is staff around so if you have any questions, that can be answered. The locker rooms are clean. There are a couple private changing rooms and, of course, cuz it is separate from the men, you can choose to change in the open. You change into your bathing suit and they provide a robe. Within this locker room, there are showers available and there is also an area provided to get ready AFTER the services are complete. It has hair dryers and spray deodorant and I think lotions. They do provide "wet slippers". They fit like no show socks so there's no need for any kind of flip flop type shoe to protect your feet. I have no review for the men's locker room cuz... Well. I'm not a man. BUT my husband had no complaints. When ready, you meet your partner and go to the "bath" area. They have all kinds of hot tubs and steams rooms and cold plunges and just yeah. It's pretty cool. You hang your robe and in you go. There is also a juice bar and the juices are delicious. Again, there is plenty of staff to assist with any questions you may have. If you booked a massage, and, of course, why not? They will let you know when it's time. You go upstairs and get the best massage of your life. I had a female masseuse and my husband had a male one. Once done, back into the locker room to get ready for the rest of your day/evening. It was a pleasant experience. It was also quite pricey. This was gifted to me and my man. You'll love AIRE if you want a relaxing place to soothe your mind, body, and senses. The location is near the West Loop, and has valet parking, but you could find street parking nearby. There are a variety of services to choose from, but the various baths of different temperatures and salt engage the senses like no other. It's co-ed, and you can move between baths at your leisure. There's even a semi-outdoor waterfall bath. The variety is wonderful. There's a salt shower area that you could rub salt on yourself which feels wonderful. I really enjoyed the sauna which had an aromatherapy component to it and a cold plunge inside. I didn't think I could do it, but the hot temps made it easier to get into the cold water. Service here is splendid, and reservations need to be made so that over-crowding doesn't happen. This makes the experience of coming here much more enjoyable. I was really excited to try Aire Ancient baths... unfortunately it fell short in many ways and therefore I would not recommend. There are many places that can provide an actual luxury experience, this is not it: To summarize: 1) Everything feels rushed. It honestly seems like they book too many people at once, prioritizing profits over quality. For what's suppose to be relaxing, I was on edge the whole time. Staff are rushing around with ear pieces in, and typically unwilling to answer questions. That takes me to... 2) Poor costumer service/care. There were multiple times where I had a question (because the process and our schedule was not explained to us), and staff were unenthusiastic to help (sometimes to the point of being rude and ignoring us)--at this price point, I do expect better. For instance, when we got there we were asked for our complimentary juice order, but were then told someone inside the baths would come take our order. No one ever came to do that. So when we went to leave, we asked about it at checkout. We were told "you could've asked anyone at any point during your experience". If it was not for KEYS (the only highlight of the experience, who was the first person to be kind and helpful) stepping in to say he could grab them for us on our way out, we would've been dismissed yet again. 3) Other than the baths, the experience is low quality. I got a massage and facial--both were lack luster. Again, my massage felt rushed so I was not relaxed. I actually had a knot in my back that I was looking forward to relieving, instead it was pushed under my shoulder blade and I've had pain ever since. The "facial" was not a facial. They put a face mask on you and massage your face. Again, at this price point I expect more. Additionally, the service rooms are not very private and so close to the baths that it did not feel relaxing. 4) I saw other people comment on this, but the staff will come tell you to be quiet. Of course they should do this to keep the space relaxing, but it's the way in which they do it that's jarring. I was next to a louder group at one point, and the staff falsely associated that noise to me and my company in a rather rude manner. Overall, I would go somewhere else 10x out of 10. I came here a few weeks ago to celebrate my wedding anniversary and I booked the Ultimate Couples Bath for about $355 total for the both of us. It included 90 minutes of use of their entire bath and steam facilities as well as the changing room and shower amenities. At the end of our experience we got a mask and salt scrub goodie bag to take home as well as got to partake in a wellness shot before leaving. We had a very relaxing time. The ambiance was like it described. Low lit and romantic and very inviting. It was not super crowded and we didn't know how long we were there as you're not allowed to use cell phones. They have a system where they ring a bell every 45 minutes so you know approximately how much time you have left of when your time is up. The staff will occasionally come by to check wristbands and all are super friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival, we check in and later a host will take you the changing room. You must bring a bathing suit and they provide robes and bath shoes. These shoes must be worn at all time. They provide lockers so you can store all your personal belongings and all cell phones must be stored away. No cell phone use is permitted in the bath house. They have hooks all over the bath house to hang your robes. There were about 5 different baths. My favorite of all the baths was the Floatarium, which was a salt bath that was so relaxing as your body naturally just floats and I loved plunging into the cold baths right after a sitting in the steam room. We didn't book a massage because there was no availability but as a 1st timer I am glad I got to experience the full 90 min of the bath and steam time. Don't miss the opportunity to use the salt mound to exfoliate as well. That was super nice to have at this bath house. I highly recommend this luxurious bath house. This place is otherworldly! We came to do a post Valentine's Day spa day. It was our first time and while pricey, it was worth every penny. We got 90 minute massage and bath session. The staff was incredibly helpful and the interior really felt like you were transported to an ancient Roman bath. The variety of baths were so soothing. The environment was so chill and relaxing. I would not recommend Aire Ancient Baths. I called in May to book an experience at Aire. They took my reservation and charged me $743 for a date in July. When my friend and I showed up the doors were tied shut. The sign said they were closed due to construction. They gave a number to call. Which I did, and was connected to a central scheduling office. The representative on the phone had no idea the place was closed, and she was impossible to understand. I never received an email or voice mail saying that they would be closed. A google search provided a Chicago email address so I forwarded them the booking confirmation that they sent me the day I booked the experience. The reply came back asking for my name, phone number, and email address exactly as they were when I made the reservation. Meanwhile, all of that information was in the booking confirmation email to which they replied. I provided the requested information and received a second reply saying that they forwarded my email onto the appropriate team and someone would get back to me. It appears that anyone at Aire who has the ability to help customers is hidden behind several layers of defense in depth. If they get back to me and are able to rebook in a timely manner, I will gladly update my review. read more

I don't even think it's all that pricey for the total body relaxation you will undergo. The last time I went, we did the 60 min massage and had two hours of free access to all of the baths. These include very hot baths, very cold baths, which are good for your muscles, a waterfall to sit under, a saltwater bath, warm baths, steam rooms, tea, robes, salt scrub, and a quiet evening. The masseuses are the best I've ever gone to, and their hands are magic, there's also a full suite of L'occtane products in the locker room and an attedent who will dry and bag your swim suits. I purchased the Ancient Relaxing Massage for 45 minutes for $258.00. The massage therapist was not good. She spent more time rubbing my feet and pushing on my body than concentrating on my back as I requested. The staff were a tad aggressive when telling myself and other people to be quiet. Adi completed my body scrub and massage, she was excellent! Chaz provided my tour, checked on me and gave great advice on how to approach the amenities. I appreciate her too. The space was unique, in all the right ways, baths and pools/plunges a treat to experience. One huge negative, the room I received my massage in was cold! So cold when my legs or arms were exposed for massage it was jarring. Mentioned it to a few people and apologies were given. One small negative. You don't really control the time the take you back for a treatment. You can access the amenities after treatments but I personally do all my water/plunge/steam amenities before my massage and like the massage oil to stay on my body for the day. Suggestions: -If your room seems to be in the back corner by the coldest plunge pool, I kindly suggest you insist on a different room unless you like cold temperatures. -Definitely make the time to enjoy the amenities, Ado was great but not sure the treatment is worth it when I can't time the amount of time with the amenities prior. The facility has two hot sauna rooms, several types of hot tubs, and an ice bath. I appreciated the variety, but the quality wasn't great. I noticed things floating in the water and debris on the floor, which made the experience less relaxing. The service was just okay. When I asked the staff about my 7 PM appointment, they couldn't give me a clear answer and only said "soon," without mentioning that the wait could be nearly two hours. I really wish the website had clarified this, as it would've helped me plan better. On the positive side, I did like some of the amenities. It's amazing how they have so many different types of pools and steam rooms - even a cold plunge inside of a sauna. The outdoor pool with the waterfall was our favorite and I loved the salt scrub. It was just a huge pile of salt between rain showers! It was busy on a Friday afternoon and we were a little disappointed by the number of people present. It would have been fine, but it felt like the description of semi-private was misleading. It seemed more like a very beautiful communal bath house. At one point, there were four other groups in the same bath with us and there were always people walking around. If the description had been different, we would have been totally okay with it, but it wasn't as peaceful as expected. I would also say that the 90 minute window was plenty of time for us and we didn't need the additional scrub from the couples package. If it works in your schedule, I would suggest trying their night swim that is a shorter time and more affordable. read more

Had the pleasure of receiving AIRE gift box for Christmas and just getting an opportunity to use it. Thankful it never expires. This is TRULY an EXPERIENCE! From the moment I walked up until long after departure I have been mesmerized. The entryway is on the side off the building down a short red painted alley. The waiting area (although I did not need to wait) is dimly lit by candles. Lots of sofa seating. Greeter checks id and confirms appointment. The bathroom attendant was kind and patient. Well aware that many may not have been before and didn't mind re- explaining the process. I wont go step by step but I was surprised that showering was NOT a requirement before entry into bath/ pools. After changing into my swimsuit the bathroom attendant walked me down to the bath area attendant which checked me in and gave me a tour of the many pools and steam rooms. The young lady that toured me was bubbly and patient. I tried EVERY pool but did not exit to the outdoor waterfall. You do need to dip underwater to get to waterfall. The cold plunge after sauna is the best. Overall the areas were pretty quiet. I also had 60 minute massage with Jasmine which was phenomenal and additional 15m foot scrub. Have been here several times. It is expensive but worth it. I've had massages here and would say it was a decent massage, nothing extraordinary, but I mostly come for the baths and steam room. All the staff is amazing. We always come here for a relaxing time. The bath tub outside with the waterfall is absolutely amazing in the winter. The only complaint I have and it's not Aire's fault. When I brought it up the staff handled it very promptly. On our most recent trip there several groups of 3-4 women and they happened to all be in the rear pool and talking at full volume. This is supposed to a serene experience. The staff promptly approached these groups and instructed them to refrain from talking loudly. I found booking with Aire to be horribly challenging. I'd heard so many good things about the spa and wanted to treat myself for my birthday. I first tried to book my session online, but the site wouldn't show any available services for my date. Since I was booking four weeks in advance, I didn't think the spa could already be fully booked. The next day, I called and spoke with a call center agent who took my reservation for two people. She told me that both my spa partner and I would receive emails to prepay for our services, and that the emails might take a little while to arrive. I wasn't worried when nothing showed up within the hour, but unfortunately, my email never came. When I called back to confirm and reschedule, I was told my original appointment time was no longer available. The agent was eventually able to place my spa partner and me in the same room so we could still attend at the same time. However, when my spa partner had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict, my appointment was also canceled. I'm not sure how often Aire has issues with their booking system, but I ran into several problems, starting nearly a month before my intended visit. Since I'll be in Chicago for four days to celebrate my birthday, I could have planned for another date if the process had been smoother. Instead, the entire scheduling experience left me frustrated. I had an incredible time at AIRE. It's visually stunning and the array of different water experiences is satisfying and delightful. The hot pool, the warm pool, the salt pool, the cold pools, the steam room (one with a cold pool inside), the outdoor pool with waterfall - I tried all of them, some several times. Kept going back to my faves, the warm pool and the salt pool. The tea / water stations are a nice touch. Some reviews said it was dirty and crowded, so we went at 9am and, as hoped, it was clean and quiet at that hour. The reviews also were mixed about the massages & other services, so we just opted for the baths without any services, and it was amazing. Refreshing, calming, and revitalizing. The reason I left off a star is that it's not very disability accessible. My friend uses canes and we both need railings on stairs, and some of the stairs don't have railings. Also, one of the pools, the railing starts in the middle of the water so you have to step down without any support (not even a wall) to get to the railing. Also the elevator was out of service - and even though my friend put on the intake form that she is disabled, they didn't contact us to let us know about the elevator. I think they have some kind of lift so that wheelchair users can access the pools, which is great. They just need to step up the railing game a bit and inform people of elevator issues. read more

Worst experience ever - humiliating, unsafe, and they refuse to refund me. I came to AIRE Chicago with a friend for what was supposed to be a special, relaxing spa evening. Instead, it was one of the most humiliating and stressful experiences of my life. The facility was overcrowded and dirty (one sauna had black debris on the floor, another was being cleaned while people were inside). Staff were rude and aggressive, singling us out while other guests talked loudly without issue. Twice I was falsely accused of "talking" when I wasn't even speaking. Without listening to us--or to witnesses who defended us--the manager immediately demanded that we leave. Security was called, and the situation escalated in front of a packed spa. We were embarrassed in front of everyone, humiliated, and rushed out before finishing our treatment. The worst part? AIRE has refused to refund: The session we paid for, My upcoming reservation, My unused gift vouchers (which I hold in hand as the rightful owner). And they never even apologized. Instead, they tried to shift the blame onto me. If you are planning a romantic or special occasion, PLEASE do not risk it here. They ruined my evening, my plans, and left me with nothing but stress and trauma. Secure locker rooms outfitted with personal amenities help you prepare to get back into the real world, although AIRE is so sensational you won't want to go back to it! This is a great spot for friends, family members and couples. My daughter and I enjoyed a couples massage after our bath experience, but were divided by a curtained glass wall, which provided ample privacy. I came to AIRE expecting a relaxing birthday experience. Instead, I was deeply disturbed by religious music played during my massage, including a Hindu funeral chant that triggered personal grief. When I politely asked for the music to be changed or lowered, I was told it wasn't possible and the medicore masseuse (think skills of a Chinese massage spa) weirdly and awkwardly put a towel over my ears and squeezed it which didn't help. Religious music, especially when not understood or curated with cultural sensitivity, has no place in a spa. I've never encountered this at other high-end spas like Mandarin Oriental or Bathhouse. AIRE's refusal to respond compassionately in the moment and a month later, despite multiple attempts to bring this to management's attention, made the experience feel careless and alienating. This is not what I expect from a luxury wellness space. And it's cultural appropriation / offensive and the lack of response is appalling. read more

Did a girls night at AIRE and I will say my favorite thing about the visit was all of the baths. The ambiance was wonderful- it is a beautiful place and very clean. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The pools were clean, water was if varying temps but all very comfortable. I think the steam rooms could have been a tad warmer and the cold dip pools could have been colder, but loved it all. We were able to hit all of the pools before our massage, the float pool was amazing enough to fall asleep, and there is one with a little swim under door to outside with a wonderful waterfall that you can sit under (even in freezing cold snowy December). The only thing I wasn't impressed with was my massage. The masseuse was very disorganized, abrupt, and I don't think I even received a full massage. She spent more time walking around the room than actually massaging and did not target the area I specifically requested she target. She was very sweet, but seemed maybe inexperienced. The room was also very chilly. I called to request a recommendation on their packages as their website doesn't provide much detail, it was my first time, without any price point, but essentially was recommended a lesser expensive, so maybe that speaks to the quality of the massage. I was booking as a gift, so I wasn't too concerned with pricing, as long as everyone had a relaxing experience, but there wasn't much of an upsale, as I'd expect. I booked early in the week, for a Friday evening, then tried emailing and calling to add services but never received a response- the services could not be added at the end. The robes they provide are amazing and the water shoes you barely notice you're wearing. They do provide plain black swim suits if needed- which is amazing. The locker room facility is secure, clean, well kept, and organized, with everything you might need after your services. Staff is exceptional and on their game. It's comfy, a little romantic even, so great for couples, quiet, and relaxing. Def think it's worth a try, at least once. read more

I was gifted a summer essential experience for my 27th birthday and I must say I was very impressed by the overall experience. The package includes a 30 minute massage, a juice and 120 minutes in the baths. This package can only be booked during the week The ambience was very tranquil yet, classy and soothing. The waiting area was beautifully decorated with candle lights everywhere. I enjoyed being greeted by someone new at every point being that it was my first time. Tierra and Phoenix in the women's locker room had great personalities, very informative, and readily available to make my experience stress free. Charisma whom gave me the tour of the different baths was so sweet and knowledgeable. Any questions I had she did not get frustrated when having to reiterate information. The massage I received from Zachary knocked out every little kink I felt. I'm sure at one point I fell asleep because I vaguely remember my massage. The amount of pressure applied was PERFECT. I hate that I didn't take any pictures because it was my birthday and I just wanted to live in the moment. I enjoyed not having the stress of bringing additional hygiene products being that EVERYTHING was at my disposal. Ive been here twice, and had a wonderful massage both times, which we thoroughly enjoyed and I recommend doing. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Facilities are clean and maintained. Although, my last visit in August 2025, they were under construction and given that, wasn't as pleasant an experience as the first visit in December 2025. I will be back. The cold plunge pools have two temps and the coldest was so revitalizing, the salt water pool is amazing and the swim in to outside pool are some of my favorites. The sauna and steam rooms are conveniently located near the plunges. The whole vibe and space is cool, unique and relaxing. read more

My husband and I visited AIRE 2 months ago and I haven't stopped thinking about this place. We were visiting Chicago and it was the highlight of our trip for both of us. We left here feeling 10 years younger and like a million bucks. The service is very attentive and professional. The ladies who work in the locker room work hard and are very helpful. I like how you can spend some time in the baths before your massage. I also like how you aren't given a specific time for the massage, but they come find you so you don't have to constantly be looking at the time. My masseuse was Marie and she was amazing! Very professional and knowledgeable. She has a calm demeanor from the get go which helps you relax. This was one of the best massages I've ever had! For the bath area, the amount of people is limited and it never felt crowded. There's some nooks and crannies in the baths and many times my husband and I had our own little private area. We had fun checking out all the varieties of tubs and saunas available. We accidentally went over our time because we were confused about the bell chimes. When we realized we were there later (we had a dinner reservation to get to) I asked the staff the time and she told me and her response was "it's time to start thinking about finishing up". I thought that was very professional and kept with the pace of relaxation and not abruptly ending our time. I wish we had something like this where we live. This one was a bit of a bucket list item for us when we went to Chicago this year. The online booking process was great and easy to follow. Our check in process was smooth and our hosts were very informative. Our massage therapists were excellent and the warmers for your water socks and suits were a great addition. We never felt rushed, and the chimes to let us know the hour were not intrusive at all. The locker room attendant was super helpful with spinning our suits out and getting us anything we might need. The amenities were too notch. I would highly recommend AIRE ancient baths to anyone looking for a next level experience. read more

I went to Aire for my birthday and it was the perfect experience gift from a significant other! It's such a nice, relaxing time and great way to spend some quality time together while exploring the different baths. The service inside the locker rooms is great. My favorite was the Dead Sea salt bath because you can just float around and it's such a cool experience. The warm temperature baths made this the best activity for a cold winter day in Chicago. The entire thing feels so luxurious - It's a pricey experience but worth trying once! read more

Every time I come here I leave feeling AMAZING. But especially this time! I received a 90 minute massage and enjoyed 90 minutes of baths and my masseuse Jamie was absolutely AMAZING! She used a nice firm pressure the entire time and hit every muscle group perfectly. I am a weightlifter and she made my body melt on the table. 10/10!!! The rest of the staff is always friendly and helpful. I didn't get the locker room ladies name but she took care of me so well and is very considerate. I'm a bit torn because I've now been to Aire 3 times. Twice for just baths and once for baths and massages. This review reflects the incredibly high price for Aire and its relative value. If it were half the price, this would easily be a 5 star review. But instead the experience costs over $110 per hour per person at a minimum, and quite frankly I don't think it is worth it. The first time feels kind of magical and exclusive, because you may have not been anywhere like this before. And the whole quiet candlelight vibe feels exclusive and frankly, expensive. You feel like a million bucks because you just spent a million bucks to be there. But the following two times I went, whether it be because they have been open for longer and standards have been slipping, or simply because the novelty has worn off, were incredibly disappointing. When I went for massages, we spent over $600 for two of us for a 120 minute total experience. They cut the bath time in with your changing time when you get a massage, so you can expect to only really enjoy about 60 minutes of the baths if you get an additional service. And honestly, I have had much better massages elsewhere for much less money. At this price, I'd really expect the massages to be top tier but they were truly "meh". You're really paying for the atmosphere. And because the walls are fairly thin, depending on the crowd of the baths when you're there (this is a popular spot for bachelorette parties and they seem to book it pretty crowded), the experience can be punctuated by a lot of noise. On our last experience, we went at 7 pm on a Sunday, and it has really turned me off to the whole experience. We just did the baths, and every single bath was dirty. In the corners there were clumps of hair and debris roiling in the jets. It was disgusting. When I took a shower afterwards, the walls were streaked with soap stains, hair stuck to the walls, and globs of shampoo and soap all over the place. It was all of the stalls, not just one. In addition, I can't believe they don't require people to shower before getting in the baths. It's not even a suggestion. Between our 2nd and 3rd visits, I went to Iceland where there is a huge bath culture and they require you to shower naked and scrub all your nasty bits before you get in the pools. Not here, and I have never seen anyone aside from myself shower before getting in the pools which end up quite crowded. It's honestly gross and I can't believe they don't require this. Finally, I HATE their gratuity system. The default tip is 18% on your entire total, regardless of if you're just going into the baths or getting extra services. It is unclear who gets these tips, and if you tip 18% for just baths that is almost $40 per person...again for what? There is a locker room attendant who shows you how to unlock your locker but then every time I've been there they do nothing else but stare at their clipboard or phone. They have been fairly uninterested or downright rude all times I've been so I was pretty pissed that I tipped the first visit. I determined we'd only tip for the last baths AFTER the visit and I'm glad we didn't prepay almost $80 in tip for a dirty locker room and grumpy attendant. It costs $2 per minute to be there, the least they could do is pay their staff enough to care. Also, there were 3 people working the check in at the baths when we last went, the ones at the stairs down from the baths after you're done in the locker room. While they told us they have a "whisper policy" when we checked in, they certainly weren't adhering to it and were extremely loud laughing and talking which really ruined the vibe. They were very friendly though. Overall these things added up to mean I am fairly disillusioned with this place and won't be back. It's just not worth it for the crowds, dirty baths, and the tipping thing just grinds my gears. Not at all worth it for the price! read more
