I've been coming to Allure for about a year and a half and have always been satisfied with their service, unfortunately until today. The manicurist who did my service did a very messy job, as you can see from the photos-- the unevenness of the color around my nail bed, for one. Then when I flip my nails over, they look dirty, not only from the new gel color, but also from the darker color I had on previously that was never properly removed. Very upset and disappointed. I did request that the manicurist correct the issues I did see while still there, but a manicure is supposed to be a relaxing experience so I wasn't expecting to have to be alert and scrutinize a paint job that an amateur could have done better. read more

I normally go to another salon but one of my nails broke and I needed a fix ASAP. So I came to Allure since its literally down the block from today. As soon as you walk in you can tell that this is a high end salon. It is well maintained and neat, you see customers getting shoulder massages while their nails are drying... super great scent!! I got a pedi and refill on a set. When getting my pedi i was asked what scent i wanted as well as introduced to what is included in the $35 pedi cost. It included a lavender or mint soap/lotion/wax as well as a honey massage and heel defoliator. It was literally HEAVEN! After my fill in was done they also gave my hands a nice treat with paraffin wax and a shoulder massage while it dried. My total came out to $85 for both which is about $30 more than i usually pay at my regular place. To end it off ...you pay for what you get and this was definitely a little treat. read more

UPDATE (September 2018): Juliette left the salon and I was deeply saddened but I knew her role there was temporary, as she'd just graduate from grad school and needed to move on. Nonetheless, I still had Lee (the owner) - or so I thought. I've been noticing the subtle changes in ownership over the last two months. I knew Lee owner another salon so when she wasn't there much often, I never questioned it. However, today was a revelation, a disappointing one at that. I was told that Lee would be at the new location permanently due to high demand - but I knew that was BS. There staff there are the new "partial owners" of this location. I originally made an appointment to remove my UV Gel, cut my nails and apply a new set but I changed my mind, as I felt my nails needed a break. When I advised the nail tech of my change, she questioned me - endlessly. I told her I wasn't interested in getting a new set but still wanted color gel. I guess she wasn't pleased about losing out on an additional $40 but that's not my problem. This is a business and I pay only for the services I want. Next, she proceeded to push me to add paraffin to my manicure. I politely declined. Then she offered to give me a massage because I didn't get the paraffin (she stated it was a courtesy) however my services should've costed only $65. She charged me $75. I didn't ask why because I knew she'd snuck in an additional service. I gave her $80 leaving her with a $5 tip (I usually tip $10 but she was too damn pushy). Before I could reach in my bag to pull out another $5 for the pedicure lady, she blurted "Um...are you going to tip the lady who did your pedicure?" Excuse me??? When did we start demanding tips here?? This experience completely turned me off. I've been coming here for two years. Sorry to say, they've just lost a good customer. I will not be back here. I'll keep the 4 star rating up because my nails always comes out nice. ______________________________________________________ I've been to many nail salons in my day but this particular one has my heart. I called for an appointment for the next day after work and I have to give a huge thank you to Sylvia who worked on my fill-in and polish color change! Even while dealing with the fact that my appointment was pretty close to closing time, Sylvia didn't cut any corners and made sure every nail was precisely buffed, filed, and painted. She never made me feel rushed and managed to have me all finished just short of an hour. My total was $45 for a fill-in, polish change, and filing down the nail to a shorter size. It was the same price as getting a full set of acrylic nails (I'm not sure if this is typical; it was my first time getting a fill-in). I normally go to another salon in the area but my usual wasn't opened today (Sunday). I found this one by chance and decided to give it a go. I'm SO happy I did. The staff was really friendly and professional. The salon was clean and fresh feeling. They have a great selection of colors and nail designs. While my nails were drying, I was treated to a quick shoulder massage and hand massage once my nails were done. When I left, one of the girls saw me in the parking lot and chatted with me asking to see my nails. She was so sweet and I'm so happy I found this place. Another bonus is every 6th visit is 10% off! Really no waiting time whatsoever even though my first time I'd walked in. Joy is the best, very affable and warm lady. Honestly I'd come back because of her and the great job she did. The ambiance is really peaceful and zen like. They have signs up for ppl to try and be off their phones while in there since the place is for relaxation and pampering yourself which is the point of the whole thing. It is a little bit on the expensive side but it is well worth it. They include Paraffin wax for the hands after any procedure, so that alone will add $25 to the service other salons. Not a crowed cramped place or overbooked where your elbows will touch the next person. Definitely will stay in this one after my long search for a nail salon close to my house. I've been here a few times for a pedicure and really enjoyed it each time. You can pick an essential oil scent for your pedicure which is a nice touch. Last time I went, my heels were in rough shape because I walk a lot and they did a really nice job. The last time I was there, I was in a pretty bad mood going in and thought I'd also treat myself to UV gel, which I've never had before. I had a time consuming design (zebra stripes on each nail) and and Sylvia really took her time. It lasted me over a month! The polish never chipped because she did such a great job sealing it. As someone who is rough with my hands and avoids manicures as a result, it was great seeing it last as long as it did. They have a generous selection of colors to pick from as well. I am so glad that I live relatively close to this spot. I called in advance and asked for some pricing information and they were upfront with me from the start. I went in for just a simple manicure and pedicure and even now, after a week of my visit, I am still talking about what a great experience it was. I figured I would get just the basics for my first time and I was not disappointed. They do such a good job and pay so much attention to detail to all that they do. The whole experience was great, from the foot soak with essential oils, paraffin wax on the heals, even the fresh aloe they rub on your hands as part of the manicure, you can't beat it for the price. Super upset with them. I got a pedicure with them and opted to add the callous remover to the pedicure. When she put on the remover it started burning and I was told it was "normal" but the pain continued. I ended up getting a chemical burn from the remover. I reached out the next day and was accused of lying by I'm assuming the owner. Luckily after I told them I had pics from the beginning of the pedicure to the end I was told I could get a refund. It was a huge ordeal and I was treated terribly. I used to go once a week. I won't be going there anymore. I don't discourage anyone from going but just don't get the callous remover!! read more

So I went for my fill in today and when I made the appointment for next time, I wanted to make if for 4 weeks instead of the usual 3 because I was going to be working that weekend. They recently increased their prices in order to differentiate their salon from the run of the mill nail places. At first it was amazing and worth every penny, they offered you a tea or juice, added scented oil to you pedicure water etc however now that they have built up a client they are just plain RUDE. I went in the other day for a pedicure with a 12:30 app, they sat me in the chair and made it seem like an inconvenience when I let them know the water was ice cold. My mom and sister were also there and started their pedicures right away. I was left sitting for a half hour until someone came over. Somehow though I was still done before my mom. When trying to reach out to Lee for assistance she flat out ignored us until we were practically yelling. I used to come here in a weekly basis for pedicures and gel manicures but I will not be returning as their are far better places who not only value your business but charge much less. read more

I've been going to this salon since I was in high school. They do a pretty good job with the standard mani/pedi. Even after I moved out of town I still tried to stop by whenever I visited my parents. However the last few times I've noticed them slipping a bit. Often small things like the hand massage or asking whether I preferred rounded or square tips would be forgotten. At $10 a manicure, it's not really any cheaper than NYC prices, so I think I'll pass from now on. On a side note. It's kinda funny because now I go so infrequently that the owner of the salon doesn't recognize me anymore. As a result she attempts to guess my ethnicity every time, and always ends up guessing incorrectly. I swear I've gotten almost every country in Asia, but she never asks if I'm Chinese. I came here for a pedicure and called beforehand- they said they could take me in. The manager or whomever took me and rushed through the entire process. Only removed my nail polish, cut my nails, and barley touched my cuticles- the entire thing took TEN MINUTES. Then had me "soak" as I waited for someone else who was actually doing pedicures to come paint my nails. The "soak" was longer than the actual pedicure lol. Trash. My friends toe turned black due to unsanitary issues with the tubs. Also, my gel manicure lasted 5 days!!!! Then they had the nerve to try and charge me $50.00! I just moved to NJ from Oakland, CA. I have a couple of regular nail salons that I go to back home and it's pretty easy to find a good nail salon because they are literally everywhere. I've only been here a couple of weeks and I was well overdue for a fill on my acrylic nails especially since I broke one last night. I am the pickiest person on the planet so I scoured Yelp for days prior to my visit to Allure. I remember bookmarking Allure because I liked the few pictures that were posted but the reviews we so mixed that I decided not to go out of my way to check them out. I live about 15 minutes away from Nutley which sadly is where the nearest Starbucks is to me. I decided to walk around the town after I grabbed my coffee and sight see. I walked into a nail salon on the way (forgot name) but no one said a word to me until I was on my way out the door. I'm big on customer service and first impressions so it was too late for them to gain me as a customer. Anyways, a little farther down the street I see Allure Nails and I was hesitant to walk in. As soon as I opened the door I was greeted by multiple people in a very genuine manner. No one shouted at me asking me what I want. Lol. I was pleased. I asked about their prices and agreed to get a fill and have that one nail fixed. I was taken care of by Juliet. Quiet woman but still had a nice and calm demeanor about her. I was skeptical of her technique because she was doing my nails differently than any other place I've been to. I kept my mouth shut and watched her transform my nails into the perfect coffin/ballerina shape. Her nails were beautiful. I think she had a mermaid design. She did them herself! Impressive to say the least. Anyways, I was inspired to get a design on my nails which is a big deal for me because I keep them pretty basic (some shade of pink and lots of glitter). She showed me a few different pictures of nail art she found on Pinterest but they weren't my style. Finally she showed me the roses and I was in love. My nails costed $35 plus $5 for her to fix my broken nail, plus $6 for 2 designs. I asked how much a color change for my toes would be and they said $15! In my head I thought "No way!" A full pedi costs $25 so I opted for that even though I didn't feel like sitting that long. A very nice Latina lady did my pedi. I believe her name was Fernanda(sorry if I'm wrong). She too was quiet but nice. She did a nice job. Nothing extraordinary though. Allure Nails is a bit pricier than what I'm used to given the fact that this is not a fancy spot.
