I'm not sure why this place has a low rating. I booked an acrylic fill in (last minute) with whomever they had available. I received a text notification that I was booked with Tracy so I went ahead and looked for work shes done to have an idea of what to expect as a first timer. Well, Tracy was not who I was with. I was told to go upstairs that Diana would be working on my nails. I should deduct a star for this because when I told my sister (who frequents here regularly) she said they do this often. Book you with one person but at the time of the appointment you're being seen by another. Shes requested Pilar specifically and each time it's been a new person. However, she hasn't had a bad tech yet. Keeping the five stars solely because Diana did such an amazing job for being relatively new at nails. (A little over a year of experience) Moving back to my review... As soon as I sit down Diana makes it clear that her job is to make sure I get what I came here for and that I leave here happy. Immediately optimistic about this pairing despite not having any expectation of what she can do. My biggest fear was wanting a design that she couldn't do but tried anyway and I'm stuck paying for a set that I'm going to cry about later. Happy to say that didn't happen. Shes very detail oriented. She made professional suggestions to my inspo picture and I honestly trusted her to do her thing. She sampled a couple colors for me and really took her time perfecting the design. I dont think I've seen cleaner line work... she really is only going to get better. Shes already so talented. Extremely Disappointed with Appointment Experience I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I received around my recent appointment. I booked well in advance for a 5:00 PM slot, only to have it repeatedly rescheduled or pushed back--without any explanation or communication from the business. No one reached out to ask if the new times worked for me, which is frustrating and unprofessional. When I contacted my tech, she told me she had to squeeze someone in. I understand that things come up, and I respect the hustle, but I booked a 5 PM appointment for a reason. I would have appreciated being informed beforehand, not just being moved around with no say in it. Because she couldn't do my soak off, I booked a separate 5:00 PM appointment with someone else, followed by my original service at 5:30. Again, both appointments got moved. On the day of, I showed up on time for my 5:00 soak off--and the person supposed to do it wasn't even there. I then got another notification that it had been moved while I was already sitting there. No one said anything to me in person. The woman at the front desk didn't acknowledge the delay, didn't apologize, and didn't offer an explanation--just sent a notification and acted as if that was enough. At that point, I had to leave. I had other appointments that I was now at risk of missing because this one was not respected. To make matters worse, the front desk called me later and spoke to me in a tone that made it seem like this was my fault, saying "Well, a soak off takes time." I do nails--I know how long a soak off takes. That's not the issue. The issue is that my time wasn't respected, and appointments were being changed without any real communication. It's truly disappointing because the nail techs are so talented. But no amount of talent makes up for bad customer service. If you want to squeeze more people in or make money during a busy season, that's understandable--but don't do it at the expense of those who booked properly and on time. I've been coming here for over a year now and am consistently happy. Any picture I bring in these women can usually replicate if not make it look even better. They've got some fantastic techs here - Carmen is my go-to. Make sure to book early. The salon itself is beautiful. Always clean and the interior is beautifully designed. Everyone follows social distancing and guidelines. Your temperature is taken upon arrival. They really have a huge array of color and design options. Fine Touch Nails has another location in Nutley that one of my friends often goes to. After seeing that they opened a new location in Belleville, I decided to try them out. I had a nail appointment with Tracy and a pedicure with Blanca. Overall, I can say I am extremely happy with both. The salon was newly renovated and very clean. It was not packed but each staff member was tending to customers. I did not wait long to be taken for my appointment. They have many different colors to choose from and gel polish that match regular polish. I got tips on because my nails were very short and at first Tracy was reluctant to make them short. However, after telling her she needed to cut them shorter she did and even filled them down to my liking. She did a great job. I showed her a picture of a nail design I wanted and she replicated it exactly. To be honest, I would recommend this salon to anyone, especially to people who are interested in nail designs. I come here regularly and have spent hundreds of not thousands of dollars with these people. The reviews are true, only some nail techs are good so I'm VERY specific when I make my appointments. TODAY I needed to move my appointment down about an hour. It turned out that my favorite person was no longer available. I asked for someone as talented and was paired with her and confirmed both by phone and via text. When I arrived, I confirmed again for the person I was paired with. She was finishing with someone else so it was recommended that I do my pedicure first. As I'm doing my pedicure some other random manicurist comes and I politely declined informing her I had a specific person to see. Once done, I asked the owner why he'd send someone else to do my nails. He told me that I never specified. Things got heated between us and he asked me to leave. I said I'd wait for my manicure... I return to my seat, begin to check work emails and as I look up, I notice that THE POLICE ARE THERE TO ESCORT ME OUT. They check with me and the owner, the stories match completely and the police are bewildered that they were ever even called in the first place. Needless to say I will not be returning and I urge all other BIPOC folks in the area to boycott this place as well. read more

Never had an issue with my nails, the techs are all professional and friendly. My issue is with the owner, Tracey. About 3 weeks ago my daughter purchased a $50 gift certificate for my birthday. And of course, I misplaced it. My fault I will admit. But since it was only purchased a short time ago it should be no problem, right? Wrong! They would not even consider honoring anything. After the hundreds of dollars I spent there (probably thousands actually) and this is how they treat their long time customers? That's ok. I was recommended to come here by a few people but like everything it came with mixed reviews, I decided to give it a shot and schedule an appointment. I called in the morning and they were able to fit me in for that day, which was very accommodating on their part. The place itself is all updated, everything is new, clean and welcoming. I did not have to wait when I arrived at my appointment time. They started on my pedicure. Seriously the best pedicure, she was so on point, and gave me a foot massage, not 30 seconds either. I waited about 10 mins drying and they took me for my nails, I sat with Tracy. She was so detail orientated and listened to what I wanted, she went over pricing and even requested you send her a picture of what i was looking for so she can get it right. You pretty much need an appointment, which is fine, but then they regularly make you wait 20+ after your appointment time to start your appointment. The receptionists are usually pretty rude and will straight up ignore you when you walk in, and it's not like they're working, they're just scrolling their phones. I once had the tech who was situated right next to the receptionist and she had to stop my nails literally every 3-4 minutes to help the receptionist figure something out. I was in DESPERATE need of a new set and to have my previous acrylics removed - I was able to make an appointment online the night before and they took me right away for the following morning with Billy. He was SO attentive and asked me questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted! With having my set removed and getting a new one along with doing gel polish and a design, I was only in the salon for an hour and 15! I've been going here for almost 3 years now and every time I go, the service becomes more and more questionable and I can't say I was happy with my last visit. My last visit I asked to get a new set of acrylic put on over my real nails. The acrylic I had on prior kept peeling off of my nails and I was scared of a fungal growth so I decided to bite the bullet and request a new set. My tech RIPPED the acrylic off of my nails using another nail tip and shoved it between the gap in my nails and the acrylic. I was visibly in pain and spoke up, however, she continued to rip my nails off. I asked her to soak them and she completely ignored my suggestion. After putting the new acrylic on, it came time to trim my cuticles and she pulled a tool out of her stash of tools and not once did it appear to be disinfected, nor did she do so prior to using it on me. I ended up with a serious pus-filled infection that lasted for 2 weeks. My finger is still in pain, even though this occurred 3 weeks ago and the skin has healed. I'm very unsatisfied with my treatment and will be confronting someone about this when it comes time for my next appointment. The whole visit from beginning to end was entirely unprofessional which came as a shock to me being that I've been going to the same tech time and time again, and this was the first time I've ever experienced such dissatisfaction from her. read more

I've been to the Nutley location and always had a great experience. My friend has gone to this location and when we planned to get pedicures for my baby shower (i'm 32 weeks pregnant) we decided to go here. We didn't have to wait for our pedicures even though the salon was full, which was one of the only good things about my experience. They couldn't seat me and a friend together. When the nail tech started, the water was boiling hot. I didn't put my water in before the bowl was full or I would've asked her to make it colder. then, while cutting my feet she was fully ripping my cuticles off. not cutting them, but pulling them off. it hurt so bad and she apologized but kept doing it. a few days later and I noticed a blister on the side of my toe. now i have some sort of toe infection (either ingrown toenails or paranychia). i'll never go back to this location and do not recommend it to anyone. read more

Save your money and go somewhere else. I had an appointment and I wasn't seated until half an hour later (What's the point of making an appointment then). Finally someone comes by to start my toes and I show her a picture of a design I wanted and I wanted my toes to match. She says it not possible and also if I want that design I have to switch to gel or it'll come out ugly. I'm annoyed that I'm paying to get what I want why does it matter if she thinks it's ugly but to give the place a fair chance I said fine I'll try gel. She immediately doesn't know how to cut toes she nips me twice and she didn't stop until I yelled. Also compared to other places that sanitize their tools separately before using them on you she literally grabs tools from a cup with some disinfectant that's she's sharing with another girl (I should've ran at that moment but I really tried to give them a chance). The water was also cold and she didn't know how to shapes toes for the life of her but I felt defeated at that point. Finally we get to the nails and right off the bat she gives me a sample of the colors they have that was the smallest selection I've ever seen. When I asked if she had any other colors she said no (which at the end i found out was a lie because another girl had a color sample thing and it was twice the size of the one I got). I suck it up and just pick from the crappy collection and we get started on my nails. She didn't know how to shape nails and every time I would tell her just take off a bit here she would just shave off a whole side so now my nails are half the size I went in with. I will give her that she did a decent design but it wasn't worth the rest of it. At the end she gives me my ticket and the receptionist says $80. $80 FOR A GEL MANICURE AND PEDICURE. I was livid.
