I know you fingers aren't straight, but there's a technique nail techs use to give the illusion your nail/finger is straight. The designs are very limited based on your nail tech. Fine Touch is always my go-to. They're located right on Centre St in Nutley and just opened up a second location in Belleville. I just stopped in today for a gel French manicure and a regular pedicure. I called and they squeezed me in right away. All the employees here are great. Certain ones are better at different designs and styles. I'd highly recommend checking out their Instagram because they do some fabulous nails. I used get all out acrylics done here and they were always perfect. My pedicure was super relaxing and well done. Ample amount of time on massaging and cleaning my nails. There's really nothing negative to say about this salon. There's street parking that's easily accessible and a municipal lot across the street. I was on a search to find a good nail salon. I schedule my appointment for a Tuesday. Arrived 6 mins late to my appointment and I literally waited 40 mins to finally be assisted. The salon was over packed I had to sit down in the chairs where you usually get your feet done... The nail tech starts with my toe nails then I moved chairs to get my nails done on my hands. Everything was running smoothly. I was satisfied with the way they came out. Left the salon feeling super content. Until I got home and a rhinestone fell off. I figured it's no biggie I'll go back tomorrow so they can replace it with another one. Which they did at no cost, of course. I noticed on Saturday (4 days later) as I looked closely at my toe nails she didn't even file them in a straight line. I had to literally cut them myself then file them. Poor job!!! This probably occurred because she rushed to get them done. Then the gel polish on my hands began to peel off and my cuticles looked as if they were cut poorly. I've been going to only Maria at Fine Touch Nails for four years and I really do love the work she does! She knows my style and what I like and she does her best to fit my needs. She always calls me by my name and asks me how I am doing, anything new with work, any vacations, etc. As far as reservations, I usually have to make an appointment with her (I never walk in) since my schedule can be hectic and can be limited to when I can go see her. There has been a couple of times where she had an emergency and someone else had to take me which was Rosa one time: she's also very good as I remember the total application came out very neat and she took her time. I recommend Maria and Rosa! (for the nail techs I have gone too so far) As far as pricing goes, I know the salon has increased some of their prices but that is typical in the business world. Prices change all the time and just ask your nail tech how much services/add-ons will be! I typically just stick with my acrylics and get the gel color on top! I have tried gel manicures and regular manicures but my nails are way too brittle to hold. My acrylics last pretty long with not spending a fortune on them! I do work as a waitress so I am constantly working with my hands; washing them constantly, carrying/lifting heavy things. Nail tech cut my finger open & left a hole with the drill!!! The owner TRACY did nothing, not even apologize. I sat there profusely bleeding and it would not stop no matter what. It even caused a whole scene at the salon due to the intensity of it. Because of all this I was there for 2 hours. Tracy then tried charging me full price when the one finger the drill cut a hole in me didn't get done. So full price for 9 nails and a fucked up finger. I only stayed because half my nails were 1/2 way done and I thought the owner would do right by me. That did not happen. FUNNY ENOUGH the nail tech tells me toward the end that she was on meds that caused her hands to SHAKE so are we surprised she cut me open then? When I very politely complained she then offered $10 off?! I then said fine I will pay $55 but I will never come back. Mind you I was a loyal customer for like 8 months. The owner said ok and took my money!! AFTER I left Tracy, texted me to finally apologize and hope that my finger gets better and that they will take care of my visit NEXT time. Let me start by saying I had been going to Fine Touch when it was owned by the previous owners and continued after Kenny bought it. Probably a total of 12 years. I have witnessed his rudeness to customers so many times. I continued to frequent the salon because the nail tech that did my nails was friendly, quick and did a good job. Then he fired her and told me she was no good. Shared with me things about her that he had no business sharing with me. Poor business. I then began using Maria. She was also friendly and did a good job. However, the final straw of Kenny's nickel and diming customers (which included him telling customers to go across the street to get cash rather than use a credit or debit card to pay), he began charging a 3% surcharge to all credit card and debit card transactions. When I questioned why debit cards as it was the same as cash and in NJ a surcharge was not permitted on debit cards, he literally could not even make eye contact with me to discuss and was an utter a$$hole. I hope the IRS catches up with you. If you're reading this Kenny, I have taken my business else where (there are dozens of nail salons within a rock throw from your place) where ANY form of payment is acceptable. Tara D's bad attitude from the minute I sat in her chair was disgraceful. I booked my appointment in advance with Tara but when I was directed to sit in her chair she was not welcoming and acted like I didn't have an appointment with her.... I even got a confirmation text for my appointment with her! From there on it was eye rolls at me and she conversed with the nail tech sitting next to her the whole time. DO NOT GO HERE! It is a ripoff! First of all, they do an amazing job but it is not worth the money that they trick you into spending. Of course they do not tell you how much it will be before hand, but it is way too much of a tremendous amount of money. I came in for a fill, with three broken nails. The first photo you see(valentine's theme) is the manicure that was most recently done. I was charged $63! This is absurd for a fill! They claimed that I had four broken nails, I only had three. They decided to charge two dollars per the broken nails,(normally $3, which was nice), but included an extra nail which cost me more. Furthermore they charged $5 extra per the nails with glitter. i'm sorry but when was glitter considered a design? on top of that, they like to encourage you to use their ATM machine which only dispenses $20 bills, and also charges a three dollar fee. The reason for that? Because there is a fee to use your debit card there. The fee to use your debit card is actually cheaper than the ATM fee. Suspect? Sounds like it to me. I also had to leave quickly for work, and the nail tech did not tell me that the glitter would be falling off (as you can see in the photo), because she did not put a topcoat on. It would've taken two seconds and I would've rather been late to my job then have a bad manicure. Unprofessional to not tell a person this. She made it seem like I was just finished. The other two pictures here are other sets that I had done here. If the Christmas nails were 50, and the monochrome nails were 55, how in the hell were these $63? this place enjoys robbing people. It is way too overpriced. The only reason that I give it any stars is because they are good at scheduling and do an excellent job at nail work, but is it worth that kind of money? I've been a regular now for over a year. I love that it's quick and not time consuming like other places and I love the job they do. I recently visited Fine Touch for the first due to a last minute cancellation from my normal nail salon. When I visited the salon I was greeted by a very organized receptionist who checked me in. This seemed to be the culture of the establishment and everyone who checked in after me received the same welcoming. Upon sitting with my nail technician it appeared that she was very knowledgeable about nails and the latest designs. She was AMAZING!!! She was very detailed and sensitive to my taste. Including asking questions about my normal style and even suggesting possible options going forward. This is what I needed, a place to not only see me as a customer but to see my nails as an representation of them and their work. It is also refreshing when she shared tips on maintaining my nails. I was blown away! I have received a few compliments and have referred few friends who have made appointments. I have been to ALOT of nail salons over the years but I'm super happy to meet the level of professionalism I have encountered from Fine Touch. Best gel manicure in town! Make sure to make an appointment or you won't get a spot! I make several 2-3 months in advance. Love Tracy and the staff- they cater to what you like and they memorize your preferences. I've seen people bring in really complex designs they were able to imitate with ease- they're super talented. They have every nail color you can think of and periodically update their stock so they always have what's trending. They also have a gel color that matches every regular color so if you only want gel on your nails but not on your feet, you can still match. I've been coming here for years and I drive 45 min to get there so that should tell you something- I don't trust my nails with just anyone and consistency is something I value. They also have great pedicures- I love the massages- and the new chairs! The owners really get to know you and care about making sure you leave satisfied. Tracy is especially a gem! Great personality and extremely talented. Sometimes they get backed up because customers come late to their appointments but they do their best to accommodate you and get you done in a timely manner. I was looking for a place that is really good at cleaning up cuticles and thankfully I found this place. I did a walk-in and they immediately sat me down. My nail tech did an awesome job on my nails and cuticles. She was also fast so I didn't have to wait a long time for my nails to finish like most places I've been to. For an awesome job I only paid $35 for an acrylic gel set. What a steal! The owner was very organized as well being able to accommodate for everyone. Especially when the salon got busy. The salon owner also seemed invested and interested in talking to his customers which was also nice. Not all salons are that interactive with you the way he was. I'm incredibly disappointed about the experience I had recently at this salon. I made an appointment over the phone for last Saturday, upon arrival, the receptionist was not very welcoming and the place was PACKED. 10 stations, seated directly next to one another separated by a tiny plastic, and every station was full. Not one person was 6 ft apart, in a roughly 400'sq ft place, there were easily 20 people inside with the door closed and poor circulation, so they're clearly not respecting social distancing guidelines, not to mention that the girl at the front had her mask under her nose.. Regardless, I really wanted my nails done so I stayed. Unexpectedly, I had an emergency and had to leave. I rescheduled my appointment for Tuesday. On Tuesday, I went in and again they were not friendly and gave me a confused dirty look when I said I had an appointment. After she's going back and forth to the owner, she comes over to me and claims because I didn't confirm my appointment, it was cancelled and the nail tech I requested was now unavailable. But I never got a confirmation text... After going back and forth with the receptionist, I asked her to pull up the confirmation text, and it turned out that she had the wrong phone number on file. The girl goes "but see, we texted you and you didn't confirm so the appt got taken" and I proceeded to tell her that she didn't write my phone number down correctly on Saturday when I rescheduled and that's why I didn't confirm. How is that my fault? She literally booked the appointment under some other girls name/number and then said there's nothing she can do for me since I didn't confirm.. And I was, again, like that is not my phone number; how was I going to confirm when I never got a call or text, what aren't you understanding? She really wasn't getting that this was her mistake because she was the person that I scheduled and then rescheduled with. At first, they didn't even offer me an apology or a new appointment. The owner asked to see a picture of what I wanted, then proceeded to take my phone (during a pandemic...) and shows the tech and says, "you can do this in an hour, right?" She didn't look like she wanted to but because no employee is ever going to say deliberately disregard their boss, she said sure. But ultimately, because I didn't want her to squeeze me in and rush my nails, I politely declined and they said "well then idk what you want us to do." And so I walked out, completely disappointed by how they didn't try to do right by me since it was very clearly a mistake on their end. Won't be going back. And given the fact that we're still mid-pandemic, I would recommend finding somewhere else that, at the very least, shows some respect for CDC recommendations, let alone their paying clients. read more
