Safe yourself worry, time and money - use Allstar Safe and Lock. I own a business in Green Lake that was broken-into. I called another company--Fast LS--to rekey the space. They did not provide a quote over the phone. A man arrived (an independent contractor) and took apart my lock. He was courteous and professional, however, he charged me $467 for 20 minutes of labor and no hardware. This itself merits 3/5 stars. But it gets much worse... The next morning I arrive at my store to open and the keys don't work. I called Fast LS demanding someone get ahold of me and fix the problem. They promise to call me back. Hours go by and no one calls. Meanwhile, I call another locksmith--All Star Lock and Key--and they arrive within 45 minutes ON A SUNDAY. All Star fixed Fast LS' mistakes (of which there were many) and rekeyed my space for $120 (nearly 1/4 of Fast LS price). I stumbled upon Eric and Allstar after l lost my keys in a roll-over car accident during a blizzard on the way back from skiing with some friends. A local locksmith in Magnolia told me that there was nothing he could do, I was looking at $2,000 or so to replace the keys at the Toyota dealership, but then mentioned that there were 2 other locksmith companies who might be able to help me out. I talked to Toyota, and they confirmed my worst fears. The towing fees to their shop, the labor, the new keys. It kept adding up. Easily over $2,000.00. So I called the first number that the locksmith in Magnolia had mentioned, and they pointed me to Toyota. On a hope and a whim I called the last phone # that locksmith had given me with a "ehhh he's pretty good, he might the able to help you". Eric listened to my problem and agreed to come out and look at the car . . . at my house. That was already a great start rather than getting the car towed to the Toyota dealership. He came out and looked at it, had to drive his car to go borrow jumper cables to charge it before he could even try re-keying it, and spent a good 30-45 minutes trying to get it fixed. He couldn't get it that day, but he didn't just give up, or leave me with keys that opened the door and didn't start the car. Instead, he found the software to reset the cars computer online, basically realigning it to the keys he had. He bought it himself (god knows what that cost if the toyota dealership wants $2,000 just to use it on the car), and then proceeded to come out to my car AGAIN and try to figure it out. But to no avail. My Canadian made Toyota wasn't having it. But Eric didn't give up. He tried countless different tactics to get the cars computer to accept the reset, taking the parts back to his shop to work on them and try to figure it all out. Today I came home from work, and found that because the car has been parralel parked on the side of the street, someone sent a complaint to the Seattle Police, and my car would be towed in 3 days if I didn't move it. I called Eric to check in and see how the repairs were going and left a message with his daughter back at the company, the whole while an iron vice clamping down on my gut. I had this sinking feeling that it was going to cost more than the car was worth to get out of this. How could I get it out of a tow-lot if I can't even start it? Eric called me back in less than 5 minutes. I was so busy beating my frustration out on my living room furniture that I missed it, but he left me his cell # and I called him right back. He said he would be out tonight with an entire posse of locksmiths and they were going to finish this thing. So a little after 8:30 pm I see him and 2 other guys hunched over my car, working on it, I went out to see how it was going, and they all looked pretty grim. 9:00 pm came and went, and Eric was probably way past being late to his daughters graduation dinner. A little after that I went back out to see if they'd had any success. Preparing myself for the worst I round the corner and Eric gave me a grin and revved the engine on my Toyota. They had trucked all their equipment and software out to Magnolia in two vans, had spent about an hour resetting the cars computer over and over, and finally it had worked. He persisted through a swamp of stupid problems that should never exist in a sane world when he could have easily told me there was nothing he could do and sent me to the Toyota dealership like the other locksmiths suggested. He never raised the price on me, even when I had no where else to go and had a deadline of my car being towed in the next few days. Instead, he stayed and figured it out. Whether you need someone to do a simple lock change on your door, or you need to re-key your star destroyer because you lost your keys in an embarrassing fiasco with some Ewoks, call Allstar, you won't regret it. I'm pretty sure Eric is the nicest person I've ever met. I was locked out of my apartment after leaving my keys at a restaurant and called one of the other 24/7 locksmith services first. The "fast lock" guy came out, took one look at my lock and told me he couldn't help me after trying for about a minute. He then charged me a "service fee" for his time and I was left with a little bit less money and no closer to accessing my apartment. I called Allstar next and talked to the nicest woman who assured me that Eric could pick my lock. She woke him up early on a Saturday morning and he was over in no time - my lock was a little difficult but he told me he would make sure I got in (my dog was inside and I was panicking) and sure enough after a little elbow grease he popped the lock and got me inside. I'm honestly so thankful and grateful that he was able to come out on such short notice and help me out. He even offered to make me a free spare key which is just above and beyond. I actually called Allstar by mistake off a list, thinking they were near me in west seattle. That was extraordinarily lucky. I had no idea how hard/not hard it would be to get new keys for an old deadbolt for the house I've just rented. It turned out that Eric lives a couple of miles from me and offered to make up the keys that evening. I had already taken the lock off the door, expecting to have to schelp it around and pay who knows what. He let me come by his home, made up 4 new keys while I walked my dogs around the park, and charged me- I kid you not- 10 bucks. Oh, and while I was walking the hounds, I could see him testing each key. BEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. Just a heads up, guys! He's moved to the Crown Hill neighborhood across from the Safeway on 15th! My boyfriend somehow managed to bend one of our super duper keys. If you look the locks up (Medeco locks), they're one of the best on the market and the locksmiths have to be certified to key the locks. Your information is stored with that locksmith and only they're allowed to make keys for you. Super secure. We went to the old Allstar location in Ballard only to find that he'd moved. We looked on (oh so trusty) Yelp to find his new location and TADA!! We found Eric again! (His phone number's the same, though, just in case you need to call him.) Eric once again provided us with excellent service - he even remembered us from over a year ago! All-Star in Ballard is amazing. Service, price, integrity. I was looking to duplicate a Honda high security key and had looked into 5 other locksmiths (mistakes 1-5) that couldn't help. I had bought my own blank keys off the internet (mistake 6) and Eric said he would certainly use them, a service which other locksmiths wouldn't agree too. The others wanted me to buy their keys. But All-Star even offered me a lower price since I brought in my own. When my keys wouldn't work he split the difference in price he originally quoted and showed me exactly why the keys I brought wouldn't work so I realized he wasn't ripping me off. Lowest price of all the places I found for this service, but the only one who could actually do it! And a bonus. When I sell the car I keep my key and take them back to All-Star. Eric said he would attach new keys to the transponders in these keys and program them to my new car for $20! The dealer wants over $150 for the same service. The thing about owning a 110-year-old house is that things just fall off in your hand from time to time. It appeared our 2003 Lexus had a dead battery, because our electronic keys wouldn't open the doors, or the trunk. Worse, we couldn't open the doors using the mechanical key -- despite trying the key over and over again, being careful not to break it off in the lock. It appeared we were truly locked out. We called Allstar. The technician they sent ("David") opened the car in a matter of seconds. It turns out the door lock was quite stiff, and that we were too cautious when using the mechanical key. We simply hadn't twisted the key hard enough. David lubricated the lock, and then got the car running using a portable charger so that we could take it to a garage (Wedell's, in our case) for a full charge. Cost to us: $75, plus tax. A bargain, in our opinion. read more

Eric and David were GREAT and awesome to work with! I recently moved and needed my condo rekeyed. They were able to schedule me quickly and were very friendly and efficient! I had questions about a secondary lock, and Eric recommended Medeco, a strong, steel deadbolt lock. I had scheduled them to rekey my deadbolt that day, and Eric offered to still rekey my home for free so I knew who would have the keys until he was able to come back to install the Medeco lock (which was only 2 days later)! These folks are great. I lost the key to a massive 4 drawer file cabinet, and assumed I'd have to pay a locksmith to come out and open it. Several locksmiths I called didn't suggest otherwise. But these folks said they thought they could make a key based on the code on the lock. They did, I came in to their shop and picked it up, and it worked great. I needed emergency lockout service this week and Allstar Safe and Lock provided not only emergency lockout service, but service that went above and beyond expectations. I was locked out of my home one evening and needed emergency lockout service. I called two other locksmiths: one did not have an available person to send and the other never called back. Allstar headed to my home immediately. The owner, Eric, arrived and started to work on the lock. The lock proved very difficult to open, but Eric kept working at it and never gave up. He tried different alternatives until successful. Eric was professional, courteous, helpful and most of all, persistent. My poor motorcycle luggage was locked and perminity attached to the bike. I was camping and my luggage key fell off my key ring. Also, one bag had part of a key stuck into it.
