I have been going here for years, good people. However, my experience today was the worst I've experienced in any donuts shop. I ordered two old-fashioned plains, one cinnamon, and a cup of coffee. The lady gave me two glazed donuts instead of two plains. I went back, and she lied that they don't have any plains. I said you did when I ordered. Then she said that was then, but her husband came out and produced one right in front of her. She gave one to me and acted rudely as if she did me a favor. No apologies, nothing as she bid me goodbye. I stepped outside and sadly tossed the two glazed donuts in the trash. It was a waste of money, a waste of time, on top of being insulted and disrespected. It's unfortunate. read more

The best donuts in WC! They always have a great selection and they are delicious! Great parking which makes it easy. Very friendly staff. One time we came in on a whim and my daughter ordered something more expensive than I had. They recognized me and told me I could bring the money next time I came in. DONUT HOLE IN ONE I love the donut holes here. I don't usually get anything else but from time to time I'll grab something old-fashioned. Husband had a chocolate bar this morning that he said was the best he'd had in a long time. Perhaps I should hvae asked for a bite but he gobbled it pretty quick. Hands down the best donuts in the Bay Area, heck anywhere else! You will never find another fluffier fresher raised twist or glaze. My co-workers go gaga over the crumb donuts and pretty much everything. Sometimes they are still warm, but need to cool to get the best experience of fluff. There is usually a line out the door every morning and they do run out early some days. For example if I'm around after 1pm, I don't bother going in unless I just want donut holes. They usually always have those. They do run out of donuts and only have limited of certain kinds, like my personal favorite, chocolate cake with coconut. There's usually only a couple in the case at 8:20am. There's always a lot of sprinkle cake donuts but my young daughter is the only one that choses that kind as a first choice. Over the years I've observed only one run in with a customer who thought CK's prices were too high for a donut. They argued briefly and the customer left without trying his donut. All I could think was, Lady, you SO missed out on the best donut you will ever taste! These donuts are not the fancy, crazy flavors that are popping up everywhere. They are the quintessential classic donut you grew up with, but are a perfect, even better example of one! Sure they are not the cheap 50 cent donuts from Safeway (no one at work likes those)but they are WORTH the price! I think of CK's donuts like a cheap patisserie -lol! Some days he misses the mark on quantities. He tries to keep everything fresh but sometimes gets slammed. It really helps to order a day ahead folks! I noticed a few bad reviews dated around the time he had his first baby and his mother passing away unexpectedly a few months after. That must've been a harsh time. It's truly a family business and they do everything themselves. Let's just say CK doesn't have a lot of tolerance for people who give him flak. By far the best donut shop from Pleasanton to Antioch. It's all about the dough. It's got to be light, fluffy with the right amount of chew. It has to be cooked just right and delicately to have the right light crunch. The glaze or chocolate has to be smooth. Plus they need to be able to fulfill my special request.... Filled donut holes. Yes. You heard it right. You can custom order either raspberry or custard filled donut holes. I use them in the office to barter for stuff ;-). As for the other items, so yummy. I'm a rare creature, also known as a picky donut eater, and I can say with chagrin that I have to talk myself down from eating that third Allstar Donut. Every. Time. I used to drive down to Santa Clara for Stan's Donuts, as that was my gold standard for years, but my friend had Allstar Donuts as his wedding cake and it changed my dessert life. The dough is so fluffy, even a day old it's soft and tender. The glaze is slightly sweet with a touch of vanilla, and it locks in the moisture in the day old donut perfectly (though even the chocolate topped raised holds up fine). This place is a riddle. The donuts are very serviceable. They aren't going to win any awards, nor are they going to poison you. They are consistently inconsistent with taste, sometimes they are the greatest donut you've ever tasted and sometimes they taste like a dirty frying pan. The owner is a character and has very little regard for the business or his customers. He has his favorites for sure and is mostly engaging but he has a surly attitude that is very off-putting. I think their biggest drawback is the flighty nature of the business itself. They treat the business like it's an "imposition" and you can feel it when you go in there. Their hours are a crapshoot and worse "are they even open?". I think this guy bangs his alarm and says "no donuts today" and does absolutely nothing to warn his customers.
