Use Allen's at your peril. Last week I took my felt Western-style hat to Allen's to be cleaned. I was not surprised when the acting manager assured me that cleaning it would be no problem, as I knew that following the manufacturer's accompanying instructions I had used it in the rain many times without mishap. But it needed to be cleaned now because I had inadvertently slammed my car trunk lid on it, causing a greasy stain on the band. The acting manager quoted $10, which was fair; and I left the hat. Later that day however the manager or owner called to tell me that it could *not* be cleaned, relying on instructions on the hat's tag. But she could replace the band for $20. I did not recall such instructions on the tag, but as Allen's was some distance away, I agreed. When my hat was ready I noticed a prominent new spot next to the replacement band, which the manager said was glue that could not be removed. I insisted that it was not acceptable with that new spot and, sure enough, her technician largely removed it. I paid the $20. When I got home I looked at the tag, and found no cleaning limitation whatever. Either the manager had imagined these instructions or had deliberately lied. read more

Dry cleaning one pair of dress pants took a total of two weeks mostly because of them not being able take off a simple SMALL stain that needed me to return twice! WHICH, BY THE WAY DID NOT GET REMOVED! Went the first time to pick them up and saw the stains still there, told them about it got a bit of attitude, then was told to return tomorrow. Went back the next day around 1 and was told I have to return after four WHICH NO ONE TOLD ME THE FIRST TIME. People have jobs and can't work around your mistakes! Ended up taking them somewhere else that not only removed the stain but was cheaper. I dropped off my favorite BCBG jacket for a dry clean. It was $6.50, a reasonable price. And, I just wanted some dirt and minimal stains removed and the sharp crease you get after you get back your stuff from the dry cleaners. But, the linings/crease of the collars are off. So they end up hanging rather awkwardly now. And, more importantly there are stains remaining at the ends of the arms. And those are not even the persistent stains like ketchup or grape juice. They are just normal wear stains. I am not being super picky; the stains are very visible. very disappointed. read more

If you want to have a great Dry Cleaning experience where they owners are super nice and care about your clothes, then this is the place. The Dry Cleaning is all done at the facility and not sent out like just about every other place in the area. They are not risking your clothes by sending them out. That made me feel so safe! The owner is new and her name is Melineh. I think she took over right at the beginning of 2009 and she is so nice. She even has some cool jewelry and handbags that you can buy last minute if you need something for that party dress you are picking up. The alteration lady is really one of the best I have ever found. She has been there for years and I have heard that people come from all over to have her alter their clothes. Poor customer service on my first visit which was to pick up my wife's dress. I didn't have a ticket so she had to look up by name and was just grumpy. She asked for last name and I told her the name 3 times that she asked me. Another customer in the store had to tell her. Next, I need her first name. (No PLEASE?) Then she tells me, "you have to pay" in a rude tone of voice. As I was pulling my cash out of my wallet she tells me "You have to make a decision now on paying by credit card or cash". I gave her cash and she literally dropped my change on the table and didn't say anything as I picked it up. Where's a nice "thank you?? I would recommend staying away from this place. I recently took two of my expensive suits to them. I picked them up and took them home expecting them to be clean. A week later when I went to wear one of them, 2 of the buttons were broken and there were still several stains on the suit. The second suit didn't have broken buttons but it had several stains still remaining. I took them back and told the lady who runs the place that the suits were still dirty. She accused me of having worn the suits and getting them dirty again even though they were still in their original wrapping. She claimed that they check every suit after cleaning and there was no way it was dirty. Well then I suppose I must be lying to save $13 dollars when I'm bringing in two $800 suits? Basically in her mind, I was trying to scam them out of a free cleaning because I'm a cheap scumbag. I couldn't believe my ears. That is not how you run a business. I told her I would take my business elsewhere if she treats her customers with such disrespect and she told me to stop talking and take my clothes elsewhere. And so, I did. Never again will I take my clothes there. In Conclusion: They do a bad job cleaning clothes; you run the risk of damage to the clothes (broken buttons, etc.); they will take no accountability for their actions whether its damage or poor cleaning; and to top it off, they charge much more than other places do. So do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

Do your self a favor and DO NOT COME HERE. I usually take my cloths to the Cleaning Store on pacific but needed to drop off some cloths somewhere closer to my house. I saw Allen's Cleaners and decided why not, it was just a few blouses. Today I picked up my dry cleaning and through the cover saw white dots on one of my blouses. I took it out to see what it was and realized that there were deodorant stains on the blouse and all the lace on the blouses ends was RIPPED off. Yes, MY BLOUSE IS RUINED! The front desk lady said that it's the elastic that came off and she will cut the edges from the blouse... Why are you going to cut my blouse? I told her that this shouldn't have happened if it was actually dry cleaned. She kept saying that It was dry cleaned but had a confused look on her face. She had no answer to why there was deodorant stains on the shirt. There was no apology just excuses because apparently, it's normal for the elastic to come off when you dry clean. I know that if I was to wash this shirt at home with the washer being set to delicate that those laces would not rip or untangle. She still charged me for the blouse and I told her I'm not going to pay for it. She gave me $4 back from my total. Still no apology. I'm very disappointed in the service & results. She gets really confrontational when she can't find your things, even with the receipt. Somehow that is the customer's fault. For those that know me, the answer to this one is emphatically NO! The only reason why you should bring your clothes here is if you are trying for the "I sleep in a gutter" look! I picked up a shirt that apparently had lived like it was dying. The shirt must have gone skydiving, Rocky Mountain climbing and ridden a bull named Fu Man Chu. After those activities, it was wadded up and thrown in a dumpster, and then placed on a hanger for me. I am beyond speechless at what was handed to me. I get there and another person (who had the worst attitude) told me that she was going to charge me extra because "she wasn't gonna be rushing for free" talk about rude. Don't go there. I was recently a bridesmaid in a wedding, we bought the dresses in January for a wedding at the end of October. Since we bought the dresses I lost 50lbs. The place we got the dresses from wouldn't change my dress out for a smaller size so I had to have it altered. Allen's took on the challenge and did an AMAZING job. She removed the zipper and took out 8 inches. Once it was done about 1 1/2 weeks later it looked as if it was purchased that way. It was perfect and it was super inexpensive. $45!!! Other places wanted to charge over $100. I will always take my alterations there! Highly recommended. I would have given 5 stars but I use to take my laundry there to be "fluffed and folded" but it was too expensive and some stuff didn't clean as well as I would've liked! read more

I've been to many and finally found the one that is hands down the best with the most nicest caring person working at the front desk. I've been to Milt n eddies and I've also been to one where the tailor man fondled me; was not a fan of that one. Im glad I finally found one that is down the block from where I live. Dropped off a bag of clothes to be cleaned on a Sunday, the lady that was there took it and said it would be ready on Tuesday or Wednesday. When I went in to pick up the items I noticed that an article of clothing was missing, when I advised her of the situation (not the same lady from Sunday) she automatically caught an attitude with me as if she was ready to throw it down in the store. They didn't clean it at ALL. There were long hair all over my jacket. And my jacket was there for 5 days. 5 Days and they couldn't clean it unbelievable. Good service and reasonable prices. Not the warmest service if you are not Armenian or from the Middle East. I have noticed that ethnic customers get much warmer service than whites or latinos. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 days to have a simple order for dry cleaning done (3 pieces) if you drop off on a Saturday. But it's convenient and has dedicated parking right in front.
