Words cannot express HOW GOOD Mike's work is - he totally understood the assignment with my wedding dress!!!! I brought my dress in for tailoring end of March, the wedding was in June, and it was finished within a few weeks in April. I tried on the dress prior to tailoring and he carefully pinned and made measurements for the work he was going to do. I would honestly trust Mike with my life, he is so kind and gentle. And he KNOWS. Ladies, he KNOWS how to make you look good. He made recommendations for tailoring in certain areas such as adjusting the back to hug a little tighter, and also to shorten the straps (which I didn't even think was possible because the straps had beading on them - but he adjusted the straps to fit better and I couldn't even TELL that they had been adjusted). And the dress looked SO GOOD and was comfortable on the day of the wedding for 10+ hours and dancing. He also hemmed the train and kept the original hem, adjusted the slit a little higher AND kept the original hem on that as well. He added a bustle and did some other little adjustments. Mike is an incredibly kind, friendly, and wonderful person who made BOTH my wedding dresses fit perfectly. From the first moment I stepped into the store, I was made to feel very welcome. Mike patiently went over different options with me on how I could hem my dress - since it was lace at the bottom, he explained how one method would preserve the design at the bottom, and the other being more straightforward but would alter the design. I thought I was bringing the dress in too late, it was about a month away from my wedding, but Mike finished it in literally 24 hrs. I was blown away by the speed and precision of the work. I couldn't tell where they had made any adjustments, it was flawlessly tailored and looked like a brand new dress! Even when I brought the dress back in for a few adjustments afterwards (I realized I had preferred comfort over style, and wanted a few more bustles put in), Mike's team handled it with speed and kindness. I felt bad for asking for it to be shorter, but they were so nice about it! Also, they literally put in the extra bustles on the spot! I was so happy with Mike's team's work that I brought in my wedding reception dress in for him to trim as well. It was a short dress, but it hit below my knees and I wanted it above. Mike made the adjustments in the speediest of turnarounds again, and it was absolutely perfect. Again, I couldn't tell that any adjustments were made - it just felt like a brand new dress! Didn't have a good experience here with my wedding dress. Was told that I have a short torso so we took in a lot of my dress. When I came in to the final fitting the straps on the dress felt tight and uncomfortable. I asked if there was something we can do and he said there was no other way. I paid and left with my dress a couple weeks before my wedding. The wedding day came and I didn't notice how uncomfortable the dress was on for a long time. I had visible marks and couldn't raise my arms up without having pain. I danced the entire night but was in discomfort. Lastly, he had told me to make sure I kept fixing my dress so it doesn't come up. Well in some of my photos the dress isn't sitting on my body well, and I'm pretty sure if my dress wasn't destroyed I wouldn't have dealt with all this on my wedding day. Mike literally saved my life, a few days before my wedding I tried on my dress again and I had lost some weight so the breast area did not fit me at all and it looked horrible. I decided to turn my casual engagement party into a wedding at the very last minute within literally two weeks before the party. I had to rush to find a dress and get it tailored in time. Several places that I called mentioned that tailoring a wedding dress would take months. Right when I thought I was losing hope, my husband found Tailoring by Mike. Mike and his team are kind and professional. He saw me that same day that I bought the dress and had my raw edge highly embellished wedding dress fitted and hemmed within four days. I was in disbelief that he could do it so fast. When I picked up my dress, I was so frazzled from the party planning, that I was just rushing to get to the next thing and didn't pay attention to the fit... when I tried the dress on again later that night, I realized that one of the straps was a little too tight. I was freaking out. I called the next morning, and Mike told me I could drop in at any point that day, and he would fix it on the spot. So I came by within two hours, and he fixed it on the spot for me. I thought that this type of work and the short time frame would cost well over $1000, but it didn't. My dress only had 3 thin layers, but it's still a very embellished dress. Plus the raw edge at the bottom felt like it would've been difficult to hem properly. But he did an incredible job. Mike's work is great. I looked and felt amazing in my wedding dress. However, from the first dress fitting, I did not receive the same warm, friendly service many other Yelpers have raved about. Once I tried on my dress, Mike asked me what I wanted altered. Y'all, my dress fit like a GLOVE in the chest, hips, and waist. I was so excited about the fit. I only needed the hem slightly shortened. Mike suggested also shortening my shoulder straps. I could have gone without it, but I pre-paid for a $400 alteration package with Cocomelody, so I thought, why not? Mike also suggested removing the bra cups and placing them behind both layers of my dress after I complained about how they look. White cups on a white dress = no. After this, Mike quoted me an additional $100+ to bustle and steam my dress. It's my fault for assuming bustling (probably the most common wedding dress alteration) was included. This was not Mike's fault. However, Mike's response to my questions about what was included in my package didn't make me feel good as a customer. He really pushed the steaming on me as well & I had to steam my dress again anyways. On my second visit, I went with my cousin to pick up my dress. I tried it on & even though Mike moved the bra cups they still looked bad. You could clearly seem them, even behind both layers. I asked Mike to remove them completely and he did. My cousin noticed some sort of light grey stain on front bottom area of my dress. Mike implied maybe I stepped on it while trying it on. I didn't. My cousin helped me get into the dress. He also initially said he wouldn't clean it?! He said he didn't want to ruin it. Fine... okay. Ultimately he did clean it though and I think it's because someone in his shop got the stain on the dress. There was no stain when I left the first time. Customer service was really lacking. Even when I called to schedule my first fitting, I just got a "hello" -- Am I calling a business or someone's personal cell? It was odd. All in all. I'm glad he fixed the cups and removed the stain. I do think my alteration package was overpriced for a dress that was made to my body's measurements. Overall, I feel like I was just a wallet and not a customer. I ordered some beaded shoes for my wedding that arrived extremely baggy. Horrified and unsure on how or who could fix these, a local bridal shop referred Mike to me. Even tho he specializes in wedding dresses he took a look at my shoes and reassured me that he could fix them. The alteration needed to be done in the most beaded and delicate area of the shoe which worried me sooo much, thinking it would be obvious and not look the same as the original. Mike and his staff really worked miracles, like my wedding planner, Dee Lee Designs said they would. I originally got my wedding dress from David's Bridal and was planning to alter the dress myself: hemming, bustling, and adding cups and a belt. My mother, as a seamstress, saw the alterations I wanted to make and volunteered to do it for me; someone volunteering to take a task off my hands - yes, please!! It wasn't until about a month before the wedding that I was finally able to try on the dress, but it wasn't to my liking... My mother lovingly hand-stitched the hem and cups; but I could definitely see the stitches and it had a weird puckering effect. Thus, going to Glendale to get my dress hemmed! Mike and his staff were able to squeeze me in and I was able to take a deep breath knowing that my dress would look exactly the way I wanted it to for my big day.
