Allen Edmonds is is my go-to place for men's dress shoes. Why? Aside from the other great reviews here, Presidents including Reagan and Clinton have worn Allen Edmonds shoes. Its a testament to their quality. On my latest visit, Dan and Alex provided great service, with lots of professional advice. The staff here are extremely knowledgeable about shoes, and will patiently guide you through their selections. They are up to date on the current trends, and recommended shoes that fit my needs perfectly. I recommend all men who are looking to have quality, American-made shoes to stop by and see for themselves. These shoes aren't ones you just wear for a few years and throw away when they crack--they're an investment that pays for itself with proper care (at a minimum, shoe trees and leather lotion). As to my own experience having Allen Edmonds, I've owned a pair of monk straps for over a year. With regular use of shoes trees and leather lotion, they look nearly as new as the ones on display in the store. I've received compliments on my shoes from both strangers and coworkers alike. The store has lots of styles to choose from, and they had everything in stock that I wanted to try on, which was a welcome change from many department stores. Nice shoes, well made, and their customer service was fantastic, I had to order a pair in and they called me once with an update that it would take two days longer than originally expected, and then they called me the day before they were scheduled to arrive. Sure, you can find Allen Edmonds shoes online or at places like Nordstroms, but I really like being able to try the shoes on AND deal with people who really know the product. What's nice about AE is that they make nice dress shoes for those of us who use Orthotics. Their orthotics shoes have rubber soles, but you can also have them recrafted down the road using leather soles, or just custom order. During my last visit, I wanted to get a style that wasn't available in the Dress Orthotics line. This is where knowing your product really helped out, because we were able to fit me into a shoe that allowed me to wear my orthotic even though the shoe wasn't part of the dress orthotics line. If they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they'll order it and it'll be shipped free to you. The people that work here are really friendly, and I'm glad to give them my business. read more

Dan Stratton is the store manager at Allen Edmonds and he helped me fix my wrong shoe size from 13 to a 12 with a wider fit E. Dan was super friendly with my wife and I and was totally helpful in configuring my shoes with the right soles at the bottom. I'll never be shopping anywhere else for these shoes but here. I ordered online the Sanford clearly too small for my feet and wore it a few times (clear signs of wear). Hoping for help, Dan (store manager) was able to exchange the shoes for me for my correct size at no additional charge. The best service I have ever received anywhere. Some fashion bloggers claim Alden is a better brand than AE. I've had both and I can swear that Allen Edmonds is, by and far, always the better shoe. My AE seconds are better than my 1st quality Aldens. AE's just fit and they usually fit right from the moment you take them out of the box. Truly great shoes. Most of my shoes are AE 1st quality. I've always loved going to the store looking around trying on the shoe, buying it, etc. Taking it home and opening the box to look at that lovely red flannel bag is great! HOWEVER, AE has switched from a rich looking red flannel bag with gold lettering to an obviously cheaper white flannel bag with black lettering. It looks cheap, it feels cheap, it is cheap. The first pair of shoes I got with white bags I assumed were factory seconds or a mistake. You should have seen my face! Heck you should have seen the face of the poor salesperson who had to explain that this was the "new" bag! I was so shocked I didn't even buy the shoes! AE makes the best shoes in the world and they make them, mostly, here in the US. I only buy the US made ones. I have enough shoes that I don't need to buy another pair of dress shoes probably in my life. But I buy them because I enjoy them, I wear every pair I own, and I hope to keep buying them. But cheapening the experience and the look of the product is NOT the way to build future sales. read more

Drove about 1 hr to get to this location. I had to exchange shoes after having ordered from their online store, for what appeared to be the incorrect size and didn't want to deal with return shipping and possibly ordering the incorrect size again. I had spoken to Dan Stratton. Dan helped me understand that I had wide feet and had been ordering too narrow of a shoe. He also pointed out that I had been ordering larger shoes to compensate for width. In fact he measured me and provided me with knowledge about my own feet which was great. Sad part is now I can't brag about having larger feet. I used to be proud to claim a size 9. Dan pointed out that I was um...ya...smaller than that, but I am nevertheless wide. :-) Ok enough about my ego. Dan helped switch out the shoes. I was so comfortable with his service that I proceeded to buy jeans and a belt while I was there. He offered excellent customer service. I was so pleased with my experience with him, that I promised him I would post on Yelp about him. Before posting I wanted to read some of the reviews. I then started to smile as I read, because I was reading numerous positive reviews about Dan. I am now proud to add to that list of positive reviews about him. Hey Dan, I was the guy that drove down from Glendale this past Saturday. Great place. If you're looking to invest in a quality pair of shoes, go here. Especially for shoes in this range of quality (Goodyear welt), AE is great. But more than that, the customer service here is superb. Since it is a men's store, they really treat you as gentlemen. And I really appreciate that. Forget everything you thought you knew about quality dress shoes! Frye? Florsheim? Bass? Dockers? Brutini? Aldos? and what!? What is that? You think your (made in china/indonesia/india/mexico/vietnam) shoes compare to Edmonds? THINK AGAIN! When it comes to quality build, AE delivers and smacks you into a reality world of why we should keep factories and jobs here in the U.S. Yes, cry once because it's expensive, but I can assure you that you won't cry again once you buy a good pair of AE, you may want to throw away those cheap sweat shop made garbage pair of shit kickers that probably ruined not only your feet, but posture as well. How you present yourself whether in the professional/business world is relevant to what you wear. Every man has to have a nice pair of dress shoes in their lifetime and a decent pair of leather boots (Alden/RedWing/Wolverine) will serve you better in that case. I don't know about other people in the community, but I for once am tired of buying cheap $20-$150+ made in china/india shoes that don't even last what the price commands or deliver. I had a surprisingly negative experience here. I drove down from Los Angeles twice to get a professional fitting. The store is very beautifully laid out. The first time I was sized as a 9.5D and bought a beautiful Stand. The second time I planned to buy a Fifth Avenue, however the employee named Byron was clearly in a rush and sized me as a 10B. When I asked to try different widths for a size 10, he refused and stated, "I don't know why you're caught up on a wider shoe, that's not your size." I was quite surprised because this is the whole point of going to an Allen Edmonds store: to try different sizes and find the right fit, especially if you're going to spend $400 for a pair. I told Byron sternly, "I think it is perfectly reasonable to try different widths of a shoe," to which he responded, "Maybe Allen Edmonds aren't the right shoe for you." He then recommended a different shoe brand. I ended up buying multiple sizes of the Fifth Avenue at Allen Edmonds online, and returned the shoes I did not want. I am now the proud owner of both the Stand and Fifth Avenue, and will add to my collection as the years go on. However, I will no longer be wasting my time at this Allen Edmonds store. The review pertains to the service of the store, and not the quality of the shoes as some other reviews have noted previously. On July 4th, I came in here with my parents and we were treated as ghosts by the two employees. My goal was to identify proper shoe sizing for AEs so that I could purchase the best fitting and most comfortable shoe possible. I had been planning to get a pair of oxfords, as AE is one of the few that provides sizes E to 3E for wider feet. I've also had numerous friends who can attest to the outstanding quality and great comfort of AEs which is what provided me with the incentive to visit. After a few minutes of walking around the shop, a burly employee finally came over to help. After I told him my agenda, he simply stated, "You're only here for a shoe size?" Even if I was there just for a shoe size, I'm still a prospective customer aren't I? It's the same principle as any other form of customer service. Using real estate as an example, am I just going to buy the first house I see because the real estate agent doesn't feel like finding additional houses?Regardless of his lackluster service, we finally got onto getting a shoe size. He simply obtained the length, and did not even bother getting my width down via the Brannock Device. It was far more useful for me to just use the at home AE online pdf guide. Afterwards, he told me that there were absolutely no shoes in my size so that he would have to order some for me to come back and try. It's already been well past a week, and I hardly see why I would even bother going back. His unpleasant demeanor just gave off bad rushed vibes as if I was wasting his precious time. I'm absolutely certain I could get superior service from McDs asking for a cup of water. I didn't even bother asking for his name, as I only regret not being able to have the renown Dan Stratton assisting me. Thanks again unknown sir. This is a review on the service. I bought a pair of the Park Avenue in grey online . The size was too small and the online store did not have my size in stock. I called this Allen Edmonds store for assistance since it is the closest store to me. Ernie answered and assisted me with my issue. Ernie has assisted me with exceptional service in the past when purchasing shoes at this location but this time he out did himself. Ernie checked his inventory and all other stores inventory throughout the US for my size. Ernie found 1 store that had my size but they were closed due to them being on the east coast. The following day Ernie contacted me informing me they did not have my size in stock, so I ended up returning my shoes. A week later Ernie contacted me informing me the online store had my size in stock and asked if I still want to purchase them. I said yes, of course I do and Ernie proceeded to order them and have them shipped to my residence. I want to thank Ernie for his exceptional customer service, it was greatly appreciated. I will continue to shop at this store for the customer service alone because the product speaks for itself. The products and customer service are exceptional. I have bought a few pairs of shoes here over the years. I always get great service. However, I was really happy with how the store treated me when I experienced the following: For an event, I bought 2 pairs of Strand Wingtips for full retail. A couple of weeks later, Nordstrom was having its sale and the shoes were about 150 less per pair. I walked over to Allen Edmonds and casually mentioned it to the manager. He said-no problem, we will match, even on something you bought a few weeks back. 5 minutes later, the money was back on my credit card. Well done! read more
