Ambiance: I do not recommend if you're looking for a nice quiet meal with conversation. Very loud, hard to hear and talk without having to yell. Service: Our server was very nice, however, it took over 30 minutes just to get our drinks, 45 minutes for our meals. Food: Caprese salad was ok. The tomatoes were warm in temperature. We visited Allegro for lunch , it wasn't busy so we were seated right away . The place was huge with tables inside and outside as well . Started with calamari and dates , they're both delicious and the calamari was very crispy outside and tender inside . My bestie ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken , it was very creamy and tasty but for me the chicken was a bit dry . Came here to for a girl's luncheon. They have a nice lunch menu! For $17 you get coffee or tea and a dinner-size entree. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. My friends and I dined at Allegro in Downtown Upland last night. It was our first time there. I think we were all pretty happy with the place. I had the Penne Dynamite which is "Italian sausage, tomatoes, white wine, red pepper flakes, garlic, shallots, and cilantro." I had them hold the cilantro... I'm not a fan. It was quite flavorful with just enough heat to be noticed but not so much that it set my mouth on fire. It was just right. I would definitely order that again. I shared photos of before and after the Parmesan was applied. Other dishes shown are Chicken Piccata, Fettuccini Carbonara, and Spaghetti Bolognese. It all looked delicious and everyone seemed quite satisfied. We all shared a plate (four pieces) of garlic bread with mozzarella on top. That was excellent as well. I didn't catch our server's name but the receipt says it was Samantha. She was very helpful when we were all trying to decide what to order. She was very attentive as well. Thank you. I hadn't been here in a while so with this visit I'm updating my review. The service was great, I still love the outdoor seating, everything was really clean and tidy. I had the Chicken Ravioli with Mushroom cream sauce, bread basket and Salted Caramel Gelato. My friend had the lunch special of half a Hero sandwich with tortellini soup and also the lemon tart. The Ravioli was okay. I didn't like that the chicken filling was chunky and the sauce needed a touch of salt, which was an easy fix. I'd order something else next time. The bread use to be complimentary but this time it cost $3.00 for 2 people. It was a really yummy mix of breads so I'd pay for it again. I love that they give you oil & vinegar for dipping. The Gelato is one scoop, but it was so creamy and had small caramel filled chocolates in it. Just the right size after a filling meal. My friend liked the soup but the chili oil in the sandwich was way too spicy for her. Not sure why they think that chili oil is a good idea. It's hot!! The lemon tart is small but tasty. Overall I still like Allegro, but would try other dishes next time. read more

Went to Allegro with a friend to celebrate my 43rd birthday and had a great time. The atmosphere was nice and had that local feel--like the kind of place where everyone knows each other, but it's still really welcoming. The food was solid and the service was great--our server was attentive without being overbearing. For the, the best part was the drinks. The bartender was awesome--cool vibe, super friendly and she still made a really good Old Fashioned. Definitely planning to come back. Found this place on Yelp and to be honest I have no regrets. We made reservations but it wasn't written down but the guy was actually nice and was able to get us the next table. We were seated and greeted. The food was delish! The bruschetta was good and wasn't hard to chew on. Penne explosive was delish with a kick to it. I got the linguine clams and wow that was yummmmy! Delicious food and drinks! I've been doing allegro in la Verne, and the last few times have felt they haven't been as good as they used to be so I tried upland and it did not disappoint! The menu here is a little more extensive than the other restaurant. I tried the lasagna with sausage & bolognese, trio meatballs, garlic bread and shrimp scampi and it was all delicious! Not my favorite location but decent enough. Went during the lemon festival and it looked like they were super understaffed. Hostess seemed very annoyed we came in like we were an inconvenience. The server (which seemed she was the only one) was so nice. Very accommodating and helpful. Really appreciated the help. Gotta pay for bread now, yay inflation but totally get it. The GIARDINO was packed with veggies but very simple. It was dressed with olive oil but needed lots of salt. It was a good simple dish. The BLACKENED SALMON SALAD is a go to for the rest of my fam. Calamari was good service was great, wife had 2 sauced salmon which she thought had little to know flavor she did love the spinach on it. I got the spaghetti bolognese and it seemed like the meat for it didn't go well even though it was ground ribeye and there was little to no sauce. Allegro will definitely put a smile on your face with most of their wonderful Italian dishes. I started off with their salumi e formaggi which is an assorted cheese and cured meat plate which was good. Next I had the bacon wrapped dates and this was quite delicious and the perfect small portion. For my main I had their chicken ravioli with a creamy mushroom sauce that was good also. The second time around I ordered the beef fillet with Gorgonzola green sauce made of peppers. So far everything that I ordered was good. We called to make a reservation and were told that the time we wanted to come wouldn't be busy and to just come walk in. We came at the exact time that we mentioned and it was packed! Not only packed but with an hour wait! When we explained that we had called and what they had told us, she said "well I don't know what to tell you". Our waitress did really well keeping up with everyone outside. Love that downtown Upland has a busier nightlife for people watching but it all shuts down pretty quickly in the 9 o'clock hour. Enjoyed a nice lunch with a colleague. I did not make reservations, but thankfully, even with the restaurant being very busy we were able to get a table right away. I enjoyed the pear martini. My friend had the scallops and said it was really good. I ordered the short ribs...the menu says it comes with mashed potatoes but the server said that is only offered at dinner time so I opted to have the roasted potatoes. The meat was tender but it was a bit salty. I think it would have been better with mashed potatoes. One of my pet peeves...if you offer something on the menu, then it should be served or available. I should have switched to a pasta dish but was craving that protein. For dessert I had the tiramisu and my friend had the lemon tart. She said it was delicious. My tiramisu was just a tad bit more cream than ladyfingers. I'd still like to go back and try pasta dishes. Service was excellent. read more

Ive been here at least 4 times and the food has always been great. The portions are big and packed with flavor! The ambience is very romantic as the lights are dim and the tables have candles. I definitely recommend this place for dates! The only reason for the one star is due to the tables. My wife and I went out to celebrate our anniversary and chose Allegro mostly because of distance and we feel like it's a hidden little gem. We got there without reservations and asked if we could sit at the bar until we could get seated and that was the best decision. It really just felt like a date we'd go on before Covid, before having a baby. It was dark, romantic - just the way we like it. We had so much fun sitting at the bar and talking with Cortney. She was an absolute delight - kind, friendly, funny, knowledgeable. Thank you for the chat, Cortney! We ordered a Garden Collins, Margarita (which was so unique with Disaronno as an ingredient) and the Espresso Martini. All awesome with the Garden Collins being our favorite. The food (which you'll see in the photos) was terrific. We were really close to not getting the Chicken Marsala but the server changed our mind and we're glad she did because it was our favorite part of the meal. The crème brûlée was really good as well - would recommend. They also have another location in La Verne, too, which we now plan on checking out. This place is pretty good for the area! Nothing to write home about, the flavors are just okay, but the portions are big. When comparing it to LA Italian restaurants, I'd give it a 3/5, which is great considering the number of incredible Italian restaurants sprawled across LA that makes it a bit difficult to compare to. A big issue I have with this restaurant is the price. Extremely overpriced for the area when compared to a big city like LA. How is it more expensive than some mind blowing 5 star Italian restaurants smack dab in West Hollywood or Beverly Hills? This is Upland lol. It just doesn't make sense. Capellini Pasta w/ shrimp - 3.5/5 - it was good but the shrimp add on was baby shrimps?!? $28 for baby shrimps that should be in a salad. You'd think they would add actual prawns since the up charge was ridic, but no, just sad tiny little baby shrimps...very disappointing! Carbonara - 3/5 - pretty good but the pancetta wasn't the best. Big portion tho! Seafood pasta w/ clams in white wine sauce - 3.5/5 - it was good but I've still had much better flavor wise. The sauce was a bit too thick for the type of pasta I was hoping for. portion on this one was good too tho. All in all, pretty good. But I'm still on the hunt for my go to Italian spot in the area that makes more sense for me! read more

I came here for the first time and I have to say, I was NOT impressed. The service was fine but everyone at our table complained that the food was VERY bland. EVERYTHING lacked flavor. It's like they forgot to season the food. The lasagna was just a pile of mush, salmon was tasteless, and my ahi plate had no flavor, the tuna was a bit tough. I just don't know what all the hype is about this place. I was very disappointed. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the staff was pleasant as well as the atmosphere. The artichoke/spin shrimp dip appetizer tasted like cheese soup with shrimp and a few pieces of spinach that sat inside the outer petals of an artichoke. Not what I expect in a spin dip.
