Great experience working Wen and his all star team. He was originally recommended to me by a friend knowledgeable in the construction industry. Upon contacting Wen, it turns out he recently did a large ADU project in my neighborhood which my neighbor was very happy with. Wen and his team worked very efficiently for my roof replacement job. Upon agreement, Wen obtained the City permit immediately and mobilized his crew right away. They went above and beyond by clearing several old fixtures I had on the roof and removing and replacing a small solar panel I had for my security camera. Wen is AMAZING!!! He was referred to me from a trusted friend. He answered his phone on my first call. We made arrangements to meet up to look at a bathroom leak issue, and it turned out to be bad leaked from a disconnected pipe. His quote was HALF of the first quote I got. Wen focused on fixing the issue the best way possible.... The house has a very narrow space to go underneath. Wen arrived on time, figured out the issue real fast and gave me a verbal proposal on how to fix the issue. The whole process was smooth and the project finished in one and half days. Note: the first quote I got was double the price because that person quote me with few things that wasn't necessary. Given I'm not in this field, I did not rebuttal and my gut feeling was to get a second opinion to confirm. just want to share my experience with Team All star roofing. I had a roof leaking issue on one of the unit in my 4 unit apartment . When ever it rains, the ceiling drips water. I called Team All Star roofing and they said I need to get a new roof for the half side of the apartment. I agreed and they did their work on 03/24/23. They confirmed 4 years roof warranty. Around November 2023 it was raining and the roof was leaking on the same spot after all they got a new roof for the half of the apartment. I called and spoke with Jeremy, he was no help. His supervisor Larry denied the warranty and saod they won't fix the leak and i ended up with the same issue, roof is leaking when it rains on the same spot, after I got a new roof from this company. They are scams. Do your research and find another roofing company. I don't recommend this company. They want to take your money and won't help you after when there is a problem. read more

I picked Wen to quote a project for me since he had a stellar Yelp rating. Wen provided me a quote and I did not select his bid, but since I liked the guy I figured I'd give him a shot at my next job. So, I reached out to him and asked him to do some laminate flooring in a relatively small room (~ 240 sqft). He had seen the room previously from the first job walk, so he had an idea of the space and had already quoted me a price. So, I was ready to move! The job was completey his, no bids, no competition...his. The afternoon of Tuesday 3/27 we tentatively scheduled to meet that evening from 6:30-7PM, and around 2:00PM he told me he would confirm "ASAP". Then, just around 5:50PM he texted me with "Hey probably meet you tomorrow morining...pouring right now. Call you 1/2 hours away." So I was like OK (even with a bullshit rain excuse), because we had previously discussed 10AM Wednesday morning as an alternate meeting time. I informed him that I had a very busy Wednesday with several meetings, but would accomodate that 10AM meeting. He told me "OK, no problem", so I figured we were good to go for Wednesday at 10AM. So, in order for me to make that 10AM time, I went to work at 6AM, which is about 2 hours earlier than my typical start time (hey, I'm a Director so I pretty much start when I want, typically around 8AM). So, at 9:30 I left my office in order to be there at 10AM. At 9:40 (exactly nine forty AM) Wen texted me "hey need to reschedule with you...cant find my sample this mornin". Really? He cancelled 20 minutes in advance after I made accomodations to meet on HIS TIME, not MINE. I'm sorry, but 2 excuses is far too many (first the rain, then cant find his shit). I think that is a complete joke. What is it with contractors? This is the 2nd flooring guy who ended up being an absolute flake. So now I sit here tired from getting up early, pissed because I was just flaked on, and still needing to find someone who I can generously pay to do some work. It is contractors like Wen why we all have such a bad impression on contractors, and for him to have such a quality Yelp rating is bullshit. I don't care what type of work he does - he is too much hassle to work with in my book. Shitty that I had to post this about a fellow CSUH alumni, but you all need the truth! I needed to remodel my two bathrooms, kitchen, and flooring. I got some bids from other contractors but a friend told us about Wen and his crew. He showed up for a bid and his bid was a lower than the others. I was stunned by his friendliness and professionalism. I felt at ease with him. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. I got granite for the kitchen, tiles and new showers in the bathrooms, and nice bamboo hardwood flooring. The work was spot on. Nothing to complain about. Everything looks great. We and his crew was professional and finished everything in short period of time. I was expecting like 3 weeks to finish but they got it done in less than 2. Last time, I had a problem with my dishwasher. I called him and he showed up that night after working another job. Sure enough, he even fixed that. What a great guy to work with all around. Let me just say that Wen and his team met our lofty expectations and surpassed them with his work ethics and the all around ease of the whole experience. I have a rental loft in SF about 1700 sq feet and it was fairly damaged by a fire. Sprinklers turned on too so there was a fair amount of water damage. So I had an empty loft which needed a ton of dry wall work, holes in the roof, burned & water damaged floor and now in bad need of a paint job. I also needed it done in under 3 weeks because I had new tenants coming in. After getting quotes from 3 other GC's and several specialists for each specific job, Wen came in the most reasonable and he was doing everything. We live close by so we came by quite a bit and I was very impressed with how on schedule everything went. We discussed the sequence of the jobs prior to them beginning and gave ourselves some leeway for problems. Anyways everything worked out perfect. Salvaged our floors which was huge. Sanded and refinished them so they look new. The other guys all told me to replace the floor or at the very least have big sections cut out and replaced. No more burn marks, no water damage...like new. BTW They are engineered wood, floating. Drywall was done right, paint done right and best of all everything done on time. I could not lose another month's rent or the tenants. Wen put me at ease and guaranteed he'd finish on time or he'll hire more people to get it done. Wen finished in 2 weeks & 2 days. I highly recommend the All Star Team Construction and Wen. This is a great find because we all know good work is hard to find. Throw in honest, reasonable and resourceful and that's even slimmer. My friends used Wen (what a coincidence, since I actually forgot to ask this set of friends) and I hope they write a review giving him 5 stars as well. Wen's bid was significantly lower than my other contractor bid, and so I hired him not sure what I would get in terms of quality and experience. He did an EXCELLENT job on my home even though it was clearly a "small" project compared to a lot of what is out there: repainting the interior, re-staining some kitchen cabinets (Free of charge), adding some light fixtures, etc. He also did some other stuff that he just saw needed to be done: a crack on the bathroom ceiling I didn't notice, putting clear coat on my front door so it looks new again, re-caulking my toilets. Each time I noticed something else, he was happy to spend more time making sure things were done right. He was also available pretty much anytime, which was good b/c I was texting him sometimes even past midnight. All of this as a rush job b/c I needed to move in with less than 2 weeks left. He and his crew worked down to the wire. He did such a good job that my carpet cleaner even asked me who did the painting--he knew it was quality work and mentioned he might give Wen a holler too! 2 notes: Wen did come up a little bit when the job was done because it took 1.5 days longer than he anticipated and the paint was more expensive b/c I ended up choosing two Ultra Premium colors at Home Depot. However, I had already been thinking about giving that to him as a bonus since his crew worked really hard on my place. Second, he's not a licensed contractor. I know that may scare some people, but I can assure you that he and his crew did a terrific job and I would recommend him anytime. Highly recommended. read more

Wen has been very responsive via email and phone, which I find to be rare with contractors who usually require "chasing". His was the most reasonable of the multiple bids we received for re-tiling our master bathroom last June. And the most impressive part of all... I emailed him last month (a year after he completed the job) to let him know that one of the tiles had cracked and the grout had come loose. He fixed it free of charge and didn't even charge us for time or materials to purchase additional grout because we couldn't find the original grout he'd used. I highly recommend All Star Team to anyone who needs a contractor. Our rental property was affected by a fire in the building, and we needed to get it in tip top shape as soon as possible because we had new tenants moving in. We met with several contractors, and one of them was Wen Lin, the owner and manager of All Star, who was highly recommended by a friend. After meeting with him and reviewing his proposal, we went with All Star. We are so happy with our decision because they did an excellent job. And they completed everything in 16 days! The place is about 1,700 square feet - they did a ton of dry wall repair, painting of the entire place, refinishing of 2 levels of hardwood floors and a lot of other items. Our floors had burn marks from falling embers, and everyone else we met with proposed ripping out the floors and installing new ones. Wen sanded them and re-finished them, burn marks were gone, the floors look amazing. And he saved us a ton of money. They were reasonably priced, professional, fast, resourceful, high quality of work and great customer service even after the project was completed. There was a light dimmer that needed to be fixed, and he took care of that as well. They made a potentially difficult renovation into an easy and stress-free experience. read more

We highly recommend the All Star Team Construction. We needed 2 bathrooms to be remodeled. The work crew lead by Angel was very hard working, quick in demolition, excellent in vanity and tiles works and I would consider great "Jack Of All Trades" and "Master Of All" too. The owner Mr. Wen Lin is a very personal person and easy to communicate with. He provides great advice and recommendation if you have questions. My experience of the Project Manager (owner of Kiren Kitchen and Bath), recommended by Pacific Home Décor was a nightmare. He did the estimates and supposedly assists in the shopping for material. But the material either arrived late or none at all. As the result the project is way behind, more than double the time as stated in the contract. In my opinion, never go through a project manager but rather direct with the All Star Team Construction. Any future projects or relatives and friends need construction work done, definitely the ALL Star Team Construction will be my first choice. read more

I found Wen on Angie's List and interviewed him to put in ceramic tiles in my new home. Before purchasing my home 1 month ago, I had never worked with contractors and didn't know what to expect. I ended up hiring someone for countertops, hardwood floors, roof repair, and interior/exterior paint. I hired Wen to install new tiles in my kitchen, bathrooms and hallway. He was by far and away the most responsive, friendly, and highest quality of all the contractors I worked with. (I will review the other companies shortly.) Wen and his crew worked around our hectic schedule and for a couple of nights worked until 9-10pm to get things done on time. Quality of work was very good. He even came back to do a final check and touch up. Wen went so far as to fix some of the mistakes of the countertop guys and the flooring guys. On top, we knew that we needed to install a new dishwasher (source of our leak). As 'absentee landlord' we needed Wen to work with our current tenants to fit their timing. Wen came, gave us a very competitive estimate and was factual, on time and according to our tenants trustworthy. He did the job when he said he was going to do so and also helped us with our upstairs bathroom leak better than the contractor who had given our original estimate and was supposed to show up the next day to fix it. Wen should change the name of his business to "Way Above and Beyond Construction"! Wen and his team came to my rescue to fix water damages in my San Francisco loft last week. I had a tenant living in the unit, and some substantial work was required to make the unit habitable again. Here are a few reasons why I think Wen and his team went way above and beyond: 1) Value: Best deal out of all the quotes I received 2) Flexibility: Weekends/holidays were not an issue - he was ready to do what it took to get the job done. He proactively worked with the tenant to schedule the work. I was out of town most of the time, so Wen coordinated all the logistics on his own 3) Fantastic Attitude: Super friendly, worked really well given the time constraints involved, took time to figure things out, accommodated additional work within the time frame without any issues 4) Quality: Excellent work - completed the work within time and within estimates I walked off very happy after seeing the finished product. Unfortunately, after Wen finished we found various "land mines" (aka shoddy construction, leading to costly repairs). a) Window leak from top, into the wall. b) plumbing under the sink, unstable so fell down under its own weight. Wen's proposed solution was to use some string to hold it up. c) toilets installed with their drainpipe at the subfloor level, not the finished floor level. And no flange extender used, just improperly used two wax seals (only one wax seal is ok, but two creates too much area which gets compressed when sitting on it, creating a leak of sewage into the living room below. d) Kitchen granite countertop not properly supported. So one slab sunk, lower by several inches, at the intersection of the L shaped countertop. ## A couple other problems, but suffice to say: When you count on a Contractor, "you don't know what you don't know." Just because it may look ok, unfortunately with Wen's job, you can't trust the underlying quality.## read more

This team should be named as Five Star construction team. We lucky to find Wen and his team for this project. When we decided to do complete remodeling for our recently bought home, we were started our search for contractor who can deliver project with flexibility, reliability and quality and I should say that Wen and his team were delivered on all three. We were on very tight schedule and looking for someone we can trust with such a big project. After getting references, reviews and interviews, we selected Wen for our project with fingers crossed. Later we realized, it was best decision we made. It was a big project which includes complete kitchen remodel, all three bathroom remodeled, fireplace, interior paint and much more. There were around 6 people working 7 days a week on our project. As with any big project, there was some delay due to kitchen cabinet delivery and fumigation. Just to make up to deadline, for last week of this project, Wen and his team were working till 10p every day! I was amazed with dedication and professionalism by his team. Even while working diligently, they were making sure, no minute details to be missed or quality to be compromised. Wen was flexible and accommodating with tweaks and changes to the project including repainting walls few times, changing tiling design. While his team working on our project, they also did various add on like wall mounts, light fixture etc. without any hesitation or additional cost. Before next day's house warming ceremony, I wanted front yard to look good. And guess what his team was doing 11p night before - spreading mulch on front yard. Wen and his team remodeled my home earlier this year. He was extremely knowledgeable of everything related to remodeling - flooring, tiling, bathrooms, kitchens. He never tried to 'sell' anything, but rather provided information to help us make the right decision and we really appreciated that. When something was not in his core expertise (i.e. carpeting), he was also very upfront about it. What impressed me most about Wen was his work ethic. He really did whatever he could to make his clients happy and help make sure we were on schedule. It was not unusual for him to continue answering my questions even past midnight, so that the project could continue on the right path by morning time. This kind of constant attentiveness allowed us to complete a project of demolishing some walls, re-doing our tiling, removing carpet and putting in new flooring - in only one month's time. That's amazing!!! One last story I will leave you with that I felt went far above and beyond. I had re-patched a wall in my home with new wall, and had wanted to find paint that matched the rest of my walls, a light cream color. Wen and I both tried color-swatching at various paint stores and testing it on the walls, but the color always varied a bit. I pretty much gave up at the end and told Wen that's fine maybe just leave it as a slight accent wall - but to my total surprise, the day we went for the final walkthrough, he surprised me with a wall that looked identical to the rest of the house!! A few months later I made a few calls and no one ever picked up, nor did anyone respond to my voicemails and email. Found them on Yelp and hired them to install engineered hardwood flooring over ceramic tiles in a large 400 sq ft room. On average the bids we received were about $2.00-$5.00 per sq ft. for labor (including leveling of the floor), W Construction offered to do it for $2.00 per sq ft. but included the underlayment which closed the deal for us. We initially had told them we were going to use a Click-Lock system, but when we switched to a glue-together tongue+groove system they agreed to keep the same price without charging more, even though it was more work. They picked up the hardwood flooring for us, arrived on the scheduled day to start work, and completed the work on schedule, and even stayed late to make sure they finished that day. The floor looks fantastic, no issues with quality of work. We had purchased the wrong kind of edge trim for a doorway so they used what we had purchased but it didn't look great. However, they offered to come back later and replace the piece once we purchased the correct trim, at no extra cost. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality, timeliness, and customer friendliness of W Construction. I will definitely be using them again in the future, they are great value for the money. He was nice on the phone, said we should pick a day to meet him. We notified him of the day. He asked that we meet him one of the following two days since he would be working in the area. I did not receive a response for 2 days thus I attempted to call however no one picked up and the voicemail was full. I attempted to call for 2 days and the voicemail continued to be full and nobody answered the phone. I sent a second email requesting follow up and still did not receive a response. I understand everyone is busy, however this inability to setup a process for customer response is a red flag for me and I was very disappointed with my experience with this highly rated contractor. read more

I called and Wen was very nice on the phone and took my info and said he would get back to me the next day to schedule a time to look at my project. He never got back to me so I called again and left a message but never got a reply. I understand that small jobs are not the most money making jobs but as a former office manager for a very successful contracting company, every contractor should know that small jobs done well almost always end in a life long customer for all size jobs. Wen and others who have not responded to my inquiries (of which there were many on yelp with glowing reviews) need to learn to return calls and follow up even if they aren't interested in the job. My wife called Wen to set up a free estimate on the work we wanted done on our house. He was professional and to the point, even managing to go out of his busy work schedule to squeeze us in on such short notice. His team, esp Pablo, is hardworking, efficient and professional. Once they started to work on the house, we kept adding to the project. Even though they were minimal, they were able to finish the renovation on schedule. We are very satisfied with their work.
