With new construction there are so many choices to be made. As the project manager of my home I made sure to do a lot of research and get multiple bids. I found Factory Direct Flooring on yelp and stopped by in person to see what options they had. Not only did they have the exact herringbone color I was looking for, it was a much lower price than all other places. They scheduled my install at a time convenient for me. They were professional and provided great communication. They installed over 2,500 sq ft and also did a great job on my stairs as well. Living here for 6 months we have had zero issues with the floors even after spills and drops. Nice to know there is a good warranty, but don't anticipate needing it. We had previously purchased unfinished hardwood flooring and had planned to install the flooring ourselves. Life got busy and after a year we decided to find a contractor to complete our flooring project. I hired Factory Direct Floor to install the hardwood floor at our house. Everything was incredible from start to finish. I had a mixture of tile, carpet, and laminate flooring that had to get removed. Jose and the team finished the project within 7 days, covering 1,250sq ft. They were extremely professional and clean. It was great seeing the progress that was made everyday. They are such hard workers. Every day Jose would give me an update on the work that was completed and checked in with me to make sure I was happy with all the details as they made progress. Edited to add responses to Tommy's comments: 1. The Yelp deal was redeemed at signing and paying for our flooring. In the office. 2. Look closer at the driveway - that's white dusting ALL over. It was also all over the garage, and all over the flooring and hallway inside the house. Never had someone come work on our house and not even attempt to clean up after themselves. 3. The issue with the molding border is that you tried to charge us for having it installed in the color of our flooring, when no other option was other explained or given to us. 4. The uneven flooring was pointed out to us AFTER the installation, NOT before. That wasn't even tile you're looking at in the before picture as you claim - it's vinyl. So, I don't think you'll get a better deal on your flooring in terms of price. But price isn't everything when you're getting work done on your house. Our installers came on time and we're courteous. They worked very quickly. But they seemed to not be in good communication with the office and had no copy of what we were getting done in our house. Our Yelp coupon (redeemed the day we paid in the office) gave us a free border in the room we were getting our flooring in. The installers knew nothing of this and there was a lot of back and forth before they finally received the okay from the office. Next, when the work was completed, they showed us areas where there was uneven flooring feeling (almost like a give below the flooring) which made our wood-like floors feel like they were squishy and they bobble a bit back and forth. Unfortunately this happened around most of the flooring spots which is a high walking area. They had no idea how to make this better for us. It's really weird to walk on them. At the end of the day, they did not clean up after themselves. It was dusty and dirty and the floors had a thick film of saw dust all over them. Our driveway was filled with debris that was also left without care. The installers let us know they'd have to come back the next day to install the borders. They came back as promised, on time. As soon as they were done, we received a bill for the borders and an added charge for the borders being dyed to match our new flooring. We knew nothing of them needing to dye them, let alone that there would be a charge for it. They forgot about the Yelp coupon in the final billing as well. We had to go back and forth again about whether or not we should have to pay for the dying of the free borders. They ended up "gifting" this to us, but it was only because I was persistent about it. High marks for promptness and pricing. They also weren't pushy in upselling us (but rather on the opposite end of the spectrum where they showed little interest in us). A lot of my surfaces are still dusty and I am having to pay $300 for a deep clean. They did not cover any areas that weren't being worked on, so there still is dust everywhere. I have gotten vents cleaned and other construction work done where the other vendors covered the surfaces/countertops/appliances to protect from dust. Also, they did not clean up seat after using bathroom, which I had to clean myself. This wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't already living in the space. Overall: Floors look great. This is a long overdue review. I had Factory Direct installed flooring of my residence 10 years ago. Since then, I have referred their services to my brother, and also hired them to completely replaced carpet with vinyl flooring for my rental home 2 years ago. Needless to say, flooring in my residence still very sturdy. Most impressed with how efficient they get the job done and very good workmanship. Factory Direct is a company that is responsible & has integrity, stood behind its warranty and beyond. This company have their own staff, I did not need to go out and find another contractor to install the flooring after I bought the flooring materials. They took care of scheduling, staff showed up on time on promised date, and showed up daily until the installation is completed. They did not need to come to your property to give you an estimate. We gave them our estimate of square footage of the flooring that needs to be replaced, they showed up with the materials based on what we quote them as the square footage. After they are done with installation, based on how much material was actually used, the company adjusted and finalized the bill. You get a detail receipt of both materials and labor. read more

We have FDF installed LVP in Oct 23. Our installer, Phong, did a great job and I posted a review on our installation. Fast forward a few months later, I found a cracked transition strip between my MBR and the hallway??? We have quite a few transition strip in our particular installation since all the bedroom kept their carpet. We have been walking normal around the house and this is the only strip that cracked??? I called FDF late Thursday. Ken, the store manager, took the call. He immediately pointed out that the carpet is probably too high.. he told me that he would assign this problem to Phong. Phong called me back Friday morning. We set up an appointment for him to come Saturday. Friday afternoon, I texted him a picture of the crack to make sure that he has the part to fix it and don't have to come back again. After seeing the picture, he asked to move the appointment to late Monday so that he can pick up the replacement strip. And by Monday 5 pm, Phong fixed the problem for us. This time, he mounted the strip a little close to the ground. The transition strip they used are pretty sturdy, there are support build in the back of the strip. But the strip needs to contact the subfloor to work. It will crack like the one I had if the back of the strip cannot contact the subfloor. There is no charge for the repair but I did give Phong tips for his trouble. I rated this warranty claim 5 stars both in terms of efficiency, timeliness, and customer handling. I wish all my I can say the same for other companies that I had to deal with. Highly recommend FDF for your future flooring purchase and installation and ask for Phong. read more

We are glad we found this place, their price is more reasonable (especially some of the floors that are on sale) than the other stores we talked to. and we are super impressed with the installer Phong, he did a great job and we can't thank him enough. Only regret we had is that we were not able to have our top choice wood because they are on sale (left overs), so there was not enough square footage left for our project. They allow returning of unused material and the labor cost is adjusted based on the actual square footage installed. Very honest. I am so happy with my beautiful new bamboo floor! Factory Direct Floor has been a dream to work with. They showed up, every day, on time and worked hard throughout the days. The poor guys had to tear up the nastiest carpet, cut down to the subfloor (due to glued planks) and watch out for cats and dogs and humans. They were kind and polite and very patient with our constant questions. I will recommend them all day long - from the sales office to the schedulers, to the several crews at the house - they were all professional, courteous and took pride in their work. We got the bamboo planks for a very low price and they gave us credit for about 8 boxes that weren't used. I can't say enough good about these guys! The flooring is cheap and the installers are great. The customer service in store and via the phone needs work- the guy in the back office seemed super uninterested in helping me buy flooring even though I barely had any questions other than 'do you have enough of this in stock and when can we install'. They also list discounts on their website and seem annoyed when you ask about them in person. Still, it's the best flooring and installation for the price, I'd use them again. read more

After my initial review, the manager called me to apologize and told me that the guy who communicated with us before was no longer with the company. It made me feel bad that somebody lost their job over this but if he truly was the one responsible for the extremely bad experience that my wife and I had up until now then it's justified. FDF offered us a discount for our troubles and even covered the cost of buying some installation materials that we hadn't purchased initially. 11-1-17: While I was looking forward to improvement, this continued to be a bad experience. Took almost 3 weeks to finish the job. Left my house in a mess and got told they don't handle small details.... Asked at the end to patch up a spot that had a gap and they are dragging their feet again (probably cause I paid already). Why do I say that? Maybe because FDF kept asking me to pay for the installation before the job was even done. When I said it wasn't done and showed them pictures they were confused. Can't you ask the installer before you call me asking for money? Unless you don't care. Needless to say I'm fed up and this was a bad experience. I go back to my original conclusion. We used them back in Aug 2016. To replace whole house carpet with engineered hardwood floor. Paid for floor on the day of contract signing and the installation fee upon work completion. Everything is exactly according to contract, took 2 days to finish, the project manager showed up during middle of the day and listened to our needs and made arrangements accordingly. They haul away old carpet and baseboards for free, move around furniture free of charge. Will definitely recommand them to our friends. read more

Update: I finished the flooring installation (with Shihfu Wang of FDF) for solid hardwood floor, baseboard, and subfloor. The installation (by Shihfu Wang) is so professional and efficient! My house has lots of cabinets/cement/tiles/etc, and they helped me moving it around so that they can perform the work that eventually cover almost the entire house! (So imagine they have to move the same heavy stuff multiple times.) Besides, they are also enough to help fixing squeaky sound in my kitchen area! The funny thing is: I did hire other contractors to do most of my remodeling, but it's Factory Direct Floor's worker who helped me fix the problem! I have worked with so many contractors/handyman over past 1 year for remodeling of my house, and Factory Direct Floor's team really stands out over all others! read more

I just installed my new floor, and they did wonderful job. I have floating stairs, and other stores are either so expensive or cannot do it. They did so beautiful job for float stairs, I am just watching it all day long. I actually got many estimate from two years ago, and their price is far better than any floor vendor I know. We had a whole house flooring project done apart from our lower wood floor done by The Floor Store years ago and 3 bedrooms (carpet). FDF did an outstanding job and the detail work for the stairs and tri level floor edges was beautifully and professionally done. Sorry to say, I'm disappointed Floor Store in Dublin did our wood flooring years ago because I noticed they cut corners everywhere on finishing (it was obvious after seeing the new wood flooring work of Flooring Direct! I was clueless finishing work had been done incorrectly all that time). FDF was far superior overall, probably because they use their own installers, not contractors, the pricing was more reasonable overall and they don't charge for furniture moving either. Definitely get the feeling the client comes first and is valued. The young man that did the entire project was very knowledgeable, was incredibly fast, strong, accurate and skilled in flooring installation - showed up on time and was even willing to put in extra time if we agreed - we usually said tomorrow is ok - you must be exhausted however he always said no he was ok. Pretty incredible!!! We love the results and I'm so happy we went with Factory Direct Flooring. Their salesman, Tom was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful with planning and decision making as well. There is something to be said about a company who focuses on one thing and does it extremely well. The options are plentiful, has to be 70+ samples for you to review in their garage. Keep in mind you can't take a sample home and you should take the sample down the garage ramp to see it in the light to get a good idea of what you are buying. Moving into my new home 7 days after I received the keys meant a compressed timeline and the crew did a fantastic job getting it all done in the 4 days promised. I paid for the floors, install, removal of carpet/old laminate flooring and putting in the baseboards I purchased (larger than what they offer). The price was fair and it was reassuring to have one team do it all. They were also very up front about the costs and detailed it out line for line so there were no hidden charges. My installer was Auggie and team and he was incredibly thorough and very communicative. He asked several questions during my visits to the house around transitions, baseboard locations and how the floors should run. I was extremely appreciative of his knowledge and his ability to level floors and fix any issues that arose - he was great. Living in Napa, far away from their San Leandro location did cause a few bumps in the road and a loss of a star. An appointment to walk the my new house to plan for the installation was missed (without a call) and the installers on the first day showed up 1.5 hours late. Both of these appointments made me take several hours off work which was not ideal nor planned for. In addition, not all the cigarettes smoked by the installation team were left in the gutter and driveway which meant I had some clean up at the end. Valuable vendor that offer factory/outlet price on floor installation. Their schedule is back up, but I didn't let the intense wait drove me away. What happened afterward is a smooth floor installation done in 4 days with attention to detail. Great job Kevin and his helper! The price covered carpret removal, new floor, moving furniture.etc they even deducted the remaining payment when there are unused floor, and removing floor in my bathroom were the only change to quote. My old carpets are all gone in all the detail space in my house such as stairs, stove, refridge, closet.etc the price was the most competitive at $7xxx. And my home is 1000 ft covering 2 floor. I will not hesitate to work with these guys and recommend you give them a try! read more

The gentleman that owns Factory direct Floor is a great guy to work with - no hassle, very informative, and really takes his time to explain things. The warehouse/showroom itself is truly a hole in the wall but they have a great selection of engineered and solid wood floors. We ended up purchasing ~1700 square feet of solid wood flooring and got an über great price. These guys are great. I bought vinyl plank flooring direct from an online factory and these guys installed it. They did a great job. I am a contractor and am very particular. They even adjusted their install-only price to the actual quantity after the install was complete and credited me for 200sf. Based on the prices, we thought we were walking into some sort of scam, the prices seemed too good and the warehouse too remote. We looked at close to 14 different hardwood floor suppliers, to provide and install around 1,500 sqft of flooring in our 1907 San Francisco home. The floors were by no means an easy install job, over the last 100+ years, the flooring had settled in many different directions with plenty of squeaks coming from the sub-floor. In the end, we couldn't be happier with the quality, price and scheduling that Factory Direct provided. The price was easily 20% lower than anywhere else we looked, they met every installation deadline and provided us with a stunningly beautiful squeak free hardwood floor. read more

We purchased about 1600 sq ft of birch engineered hardwood flooring from them on close-out. We had some problems with the 3rd party installer they used, but they made it right. We were satisfied with the flooring once the job was done - and it was a good 50% cheaper than everything else we looked at. read more

I spoke with them, confirmed and reconfirmed pricing, then when I wanted to buy (hours after they confirmed the pricing) they all of a sudden had "just sold out" of ALL SIX of the choices!!! but they where quick to offer other options at 40-60% higher. Factory Direct Floor installed our flooring about 3-4 months ago. When I first went to their store, they quoted me the same price as what is stated on their website. I came back to the store about a week later to schedule the installation after buying my flooring at another store. I was told that since I didn't buy the flooring from them, the installation cost more (by $0.50/sq ft). Even with the increase they were still cheaper than other contractors that I got quotes from. The company was very easy to work with. We had to reschedule our installation date at least twice and they were very good in making sure that we didn't have to wait too long. They even called us to let us know that there is an opening for an earlier day if we like. The installation was quick and overall the laminate flooring looked beautiful. When I booked my installation, I asked if the installers were contractors or their actual employees. I was told that they were employees but I think they were actually contractors only because the installers didn't know what was included in the price as stated on their website and had to call the office to confirm. There were a few issues regarding the quality of installation. First, the floor was not level at some area and the new laminate would dip a little when you walk on it and it is noticeable in at least 2 areas. The installer didn't mention this issue at all and we didn't notice it after the job was done. Second, there were scratches on an area of the installed laminate floor. We were not home during the second day of installation and by the time we got home they were already finished and had left. The scratches are very noticeable. Luckily it is in an area where the bed will cover it up. They should have mentioned it to us (by phone) or told the person that was watching our home that day. Third, we constantly reminded them on the first day that the price included caulking of the baseboard and covering the nails but this was not done. They caulked the baseboards but a lot of areas are not completely sealed. When I came by the office the next day to pay for the installation, I mentioned the issues to the person in the office. I was offered to have them go back and fix some of the issue like caulking. At this point, I didn't want them to come back so I told him that it is ok. He reminded me that they have a 2 year warranty for the installation so I can call them anytime if I want the issues fixed. read more

I couldn't be happier with my new laminate flooring and staircase! I worked with Tom initially to get everything set up. I ordered their installation service only as I had to reorder my materials from Home Depot (never again!) to match existing floors. The two installers, Jose and Pablo were amazing. They were very professional and took time and care when doing the floors. They arrived on time and made sure to clean up before they left each day. After three days, I can't help but just stare at my new flooring. Also, the floors are perfectly aligned and leveled that they aren't noisy at all! Take note, Home Depot! Rating is purely based on the samples in the store and help at the store. It is is fairly small store with very limited brands, samples and selection. Most of the products seem to be made in china.
