Promodeling updated our 1940's old-school tiled bathroom which involved replacing tiled walls and stall shower with cultured marble, texturing and painting the walls and ceiling, retiling the floor, refinishing the tub, and installing a new vanity, medicine cabinet, shower door, trim kits, and fan. Alexandra, the Project Manager, was easy to work with. She communicated clearly, returned calls and texts promptly, took time to answer my questions, and was very personable. Brian, the crew leader, was also easy to work with and was patient and thoughtful in explaining things I asked about. He and the crew were friendly, respectful, and cleaned up well each day. Everyone was very attentive to making sure the job was done the way I wanted it, and when I asked for some wall texturing and painting touch-ups, they were taken care of quickly. I felt good about Promodeling's price. The estimated cost was nearly the same as the final cost. I did authorize a change order to replace an old plumbing part, which was a relatively small cost. I had one bid from another company that was considerably lower, but the estimate was much less detailed and I don't think they anticipated the full scope of the work. Another company's bid was much higher, and the company had their preferred vendors and products, which I felt might limit my input into the materials. I am happy I chose Promodeling. I gave Promodeling a 4, rather than a 5, since I did need to ask for touch-ups the crew hadn't noticed. Also, the trim painting (window frame, and door and frame) was just OK and not as smooth as I might have done myself. I'm sure I could have asked them to redo it, but chose not to. In 2025, we decided to add a 400-square foot room to our existing home. After meeting with eight different contracting companies, we chose to work with Pro Modeling. We selected them because Paul took the time to clearly explain the entire process and set proper expectations from the beginning. Our assigned project manager was Dante and the foreman on site was Will. Once construction began, Dante checked in with us frequently to ensure everything was progressing smoothly. During city inspections, Will consistently arrived early and remained on-site until inspectors completed their review. His crew was punctual, typically working from 8 am to 5 pm and often arriving early or staying late when needed. They also cleaned the job site thoroughly each day before leaving. When they worked on the roof, they made sure to sweep our driveway and remove any nails and debris. After each milestone, Dante stopped by to verify the work was completed to our satisfaction. We hired ProModeling for a kitchen remodeling, which included new cabinets, new induction stove, new sink, new countertops, new tile floor, and new electric wiring, plumbing and venting. Overall, the work performed was high quality at a reasonable price. ProModeling guided us through from planning, material selection, and various unexpected bumps along the way. These unexpected things are in a sense to be expected with modernizing old houses, as some aspects of our house were not up to current code standards. The main complaint that we had was the early estimate of work completion turned out to be unrealistic (working kitchen in 4 weeks, project completion in 6 weeks). Promodeling was hired to do the interior work only, as the previous contractor was only hired to do the structural and exterior work. There were no issues found by Promodeling from the previous contractor needing attention. Promodeling did not have drywall workers/subs that could work on the job for almost a year, which was one of the reasons Promodeling was fired. My experience with Promodeling was terrible. Had them do a large addition and it took a year longer than promised. Guy kept hitting me with change orders that didn't make sense. One time he wanted $2000 upfront and wouldn't even tell me what it was for until after I paid. Turns out it was just for him answering questions from a sub. I wasn't even allowed to talk to the subs directly. Eventually had to get an attorney involved, and Guy's response was to charge me for his time dealing with my lawyer. Mike Lafata and team were very innovative in addressing a water issue that we had after the crazy rains of Winter 22/23. The solution provided was less drastic and intrusive than ideas other vendors had with great effect and half the cost. Mike was able to diagnose where our water was confirmed from but no one else could definitively unless we were to spend even more money with a hydrologist. Not saying that he is, but it all made sense and worked in a dry period prior to even more storms. Great job Mike! BTW the solution was to dig a deeper than existing French drain, concrete our home perimeter with a pitch to channel water above ground and connect gutter water spouts to a clear out under ground to the side of the house and then the street, while as a final measure install a sump pump in a custom but aesthetically pleasant and cohesive closet in our basement where previously there was water seeping from the foundation due to underground saturation from a neighborhood hill that drains to our property's foundation. read more

I had a negative experience with Jordan from Promodeling due to a misunderstanding with a different contractor. The other contractor arrived hours late (at the time Jordan was supposed to meet), and I mistakenly thought they were with Promodeling. When Jordan showed up, I apologetically explained that there was a miscommunication and that I would try to wrap up my meeting. After 15 minutes of waiting, Jordan called to ask for an update and I asked him if it would be better to reschedule for another day, since he had another appointment to get to. He told me that I was unprofessional and didn't know how to do business, which is ironic because I'm not the one who's running a business. His reaction told me all I needed to know about what it would be like to work with this company. We just finished having our kitchen completely renovated by Promodeling, and it came in early and within range of our expected budget. The project manager, Alexandra Asaftei, worked with us from proposal to design (which got us beautiful cabinetry) and organized the project. There was a lead contractor and expert teams that did the demolition, removal, wallboard installation, texturing, painting, tiling the floors and backsplash, installing cabinetry, and appliances. Our Berkeley house was built in 1909 and remodeled by amateurs in the 1970s, so absolutely nothing is even, but the Promodeling crews found ways to cope with the crookedness. We were working from home much of the time but they were all polite, clean, and as quiet as possible. Promptly at the arranged time, Liran Lugar showed up. Bright, clean, and professional. He knows his trade well. Up the ladder and the inspection began. I have some skills, so I am always prepared to listen and learn, or make a discovery. When he came down from the roof, he suggested the job was too small for their type of service, but he had a litany of suggestions for us going forward. I was so happy that he was direct and had so many incredible things to consider for us. And it was all in plain English. My wife and I understood every term and suggestion he made. From building permits to selecting the right bidder. The info he shared may have saved us thousands in selection, materials, and what needed to have done. I would have done the same as him in my job, giving great customer service. If we had a friend needing a big job, a referral would be so easy. ProModeling Review Like many homeowners with time on their hands and COVID-19 sequestration, we turned to Yelp reviews looking for a contractor to breathe new life into our mid-century modern in the El Cerrito Hills. We knew what we wanted and had near-final architectural designs. The scope for our 1950's home was to gut-remodel a tired and cramped master bathroom, extend the passage to access the rear garden, convert a coat closet to a powder room, replace a dilapidated sliding door, enlarge the windows in the master and guest bedrooms, and add two outside decks. We quickly shortlisted ProModeling based on many favorable Yelp reviews. Their body of work looked highly compatible to our tastes. We invited the owner, Guy Oren for an introductory meeting. He was professional and well prepared with great credentials and project histories. We were immediately impressed and felt very confident in his abilities to execute. We agreed on having ProModeling draw up building plans. Allen Dadafarin, ProModeling's structural engineer, drew up the blueprints and after minor revisions, submitted them to the city planning office. There was a two-month waiting period for plan approvals, and we invested that time in product shopping and self-education. Our agreement was that ProModeling would provide expertise, project management, labor and the structural components. We would provide fittings and fixtures. Our primary liaison was our project manager Solomon Abihasira. Solomon proved to be very responsive. A man of high energy and a taste for espresso, Solomon nursed us through times when the dust wouldn't settle, when the inevitable curved balls invariable came at us. In every case the looming disaster was averted without drama and progress continued. ProModeling was able to seal off a section of the house where we were somewhat isolated from the dust and demolishing taking place in the far end of the house. We had full use of our kitchen, dining room and living room for almost the entire project. The remodeling was completed a little late, mainly due to COVID-driven delays in supply and manufacturing. But the end result is fantastic. While the house was practically empty of furniture, we had the red oak floors refinished throughout the house. We recommend adding this step to the end of any major remodeling project. Would we do it again with ProModeling? Absolutely. It would have been quite impossible to tackle a remodel of this scope and complexity without the management, expertise and skills they brought to the table. read more

We swapped toilet and vanity locations and also added an extra feature so I could turn on the water on the left and let the water warm up before stepping into my new shower. I had been planning a kitchen remodel for the past few years, and had been saving up. I finally felt like I had saved enough, but then realized I didn't know who to turn to for the actual work. I considered hiring a design firm, but that looked like it was going to be super expensive. I found a cabinet firm that did design but would not run the whole project. Then I stumbled onto Promodeling. They do design, and run the entire project with their inhouse staff and partners. That was the ticket for me. I reached out and ended up speaking with the firm's founder, Guy, and he was super responsive. We met several times and he put forth a plan that made a lot of sense. I had a proposal within a few days, and the work started right after we signed on, first with offsite work preparing cabinets, and then within three weeks a swat team showed up and the transformation started. The majority of the onsite work was complete within three weeks and the final details were complete a week later. We love our new kitchen, it is everything I hoped for and a bit more. Our project manager was Ricardo and he kept things moving. He really wanted to make sure we were happy, and made sure the little adjustments we wanted along the way were taken care of. Dante our Project Manager took us all the way from design to build, he was knowledgeable, responsive and very professional. I was ready to move past the unfortunate experience Stefan O. and I had with ProModeling, until Guy responded with falsehoods to Stefan's accurate and factual review. No need to rehash Stefan's summary. He didn't even mention other things that occurred: -Guy briefly came out to the job site one time. He is responding to a review for a project he didn't directly oversee, and without firsthand knowledge of the facts. -We we're told the job would take about a week. It was significantly delayed. -The architect himself told us this was his first experience managing a retaining wall project. -We caught mistakes the foreman didn't notice, and signed off after being assured our concerns would be addressed. They were not and the wall still wasn't executed correctly. It is not the customer's responsibility to provide oversight. -We were informed that workers stated they were not paid. If they were paid afterwards, that's great. We think it is unprofessional that this became an issue we were approached with at all. -In his reply, Guy commented that this $10k project is the smallest job they've ever taken on. He also said several times during the project that we should have been charged much more. These remarks are consistent with his attitude toward us as customers. In my opinion, $10k is a lot to invest in a company. And whether a customer pays $5 or $500k, they should be treated the same and be able to expect a job well done. I had a great experience with full front and back concrete work by Promodeling. I had my driveway replaced along with walkways in front and around the side of my house with around 80 linear feet of planters built in my back yard. Promodeling was in constant contact throughout the process. I worked primarily with Gilad but also with the owner, Guy. Whenever I had a question, I could send a text and nearly always got an immediate reply. The recent rain caused some potential delays in the pouring of the concrete, but Promodeling worked overtime to ensure the job was completed on time (including having some guys come out on Thanksgiving day to finish the the pour). We initially wanted to remodel our garage area, but after taking a look at it, and discussing things that needed to be improved, we changed our plan. The garage work was a simple remodeling project that didn't necessarily require expertise, but I noticed that they seemed to be keen on, and have the expertise, in replacing roofs. We ended up doing that project, and lo and behold, we had a massive atmospheric river the next month. I was very hesitant doing a project like this since I had no luck finding qualified people to do this substantial remodel of the outside of my house.
