You never want to need to use a towing service company. However if you do need one, then All Area Towing is the company you want to use. Last November, we had to have our 2007 Lexus ES350 towed from Danville to our mechanic in Concord. We called All Area Towing and spoke with Al. He quoted us a price for the job and stuck with that price when we scheduled the appointment a week later. Al showed up to our house and got our car out of our garage and then onto his truck and was off to Concord. Our car made it to our mechanic and we paid Al on the spot. He knows the area so well that he got to the mechanic's shop before we did even though we saw him waiting at the weigh station as we sped up the freeway! He took the backroads & beat by at least 5 min! Of course we wish we hadn't needed a tow, but I am so glad we decided not to use Agero, who contracts with our auto insurance company for Roadside Assistance. We have had many bad experiences with them. We called the Towing companies in the Walnut Creek/Concord/Pleasant Hill area, & we liked Al from the start. He was personable, and he has people skills that others sorely lack. He beat the best price we had & he stuck to it the following week when we confirmed with him and arranged for our mechanic to take possession of the car so he could order parts & get started on the repairs. Our car battery was dead. Al gave us an estimated 15 minutes for arrival - he arrived as committed. Al jumped the battery, the car started, and he had equipment on his truck to test the battery and charging system. With his equipment, it was identified the battery was bad. Al stayed with us to ensure the car kept running and would not stop after we drove away due to a "short" in the battery. We took the car to a local auto parts store, and their tests confirmed the battery was also bad. Al followed up to ensure we got to our destination without a problem. Saturday started out a bad day for my daughter with her car breaking down in Orinda. Ended up being a very good day, thanks to Al Parnoff, the owner of All Area Towing. Phoned the Shell Service Station in Orinda, Kathy recommended we give Al a call. Glad we did, Al told us how long it would take to get to the broken down vehicle and kept us informed of progress. When Al arrived he immediately diagnosed the problem (damaged battery cable) and set about getting the car onto his flat bed towing truck. 10 minutes later we met him at the Shell garage and mechanic Nick set about repairing the damaged battery cable, within 30 minutes the problem was fixed. Al was an absolute delight to talk with, very knowlegable, helpful beyond belief, and his towing fee was very reasonable in my opinion. Also, big shout out to Kathy and Nick, also a delight to talk to, helpful and reasonable/fair repair cost. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Instead he offered the phone number of another towing company that should be able to help, when I called them they were also busy, so I call Al back explaining a little more of the situation he offers some helpful advice on taking a lug nut from each of the other three tires since mine were gone and bam I changed my tire and no longer needed a tow. First off I'd like to say that Al is a stand up guy and it's been a pleasure communicating with him the past few weeks. Here is a bit of background for my specific situation. I had the pleasure of getting my car impounded for 30 days late last month. All my fault and I take full responsibility. What was unfortunate is that having the car impounded for that long came with a hefty storage fee. My car isn't worth the cost it would have taken to get it back.
