It has been a while since I have been in a store where every store associate is super helpful and go out of their way to extend next level service. When I was an avid cyclist, Trek Bicycle was known as Austin's most dependable and all-around bike shop with a wide range of cyclist customers. I went into Trek for a two-fold purpose: 1) buy new bike shoes and 2) inquire regarding the status of my bike tires that have been seating in the garage for years (new tires or new tubes). When you walk into the store, you are met with a sea of bicycles...every color and style imaginable. Fortunately, I do not need a new bicycle because mine is in good shape. So, first, I inquire about my tires. The repair specialist was so super helpful, and he assured me that my tires might be ok. He suggested bringing the tires into the bike shop so he could inspect them. Next, I headed over to the bike shoe area, which is small but importantly they were having a sale. I snagged some $120 bike shoes for $30...score!!! Also, the sales associate offered to order me some insoles since they were out in my size. Super kind... The store sells a wide range of Trek bikes, including road, mountain, hybrid, and electric models, along with associated accessories and gear. The sales associates are top notch - super knowledgeable and not high-pressure sales folks. I have a bike with a Shimano internal hub that needed to be calibrated; it would skip when I had to pedal hard uphill. I took to another shop in the area that wasn't able to solve it, they told me it was "bad" and that it would "get worse", needing a new one eventually. I called Trek; Chris was very patient with me over the phone and Drew readjusted the tension on it! They took the time to explain the issue and how they solved it. Over the past four months, I've been a regular customer at this store. Unfortunately, both he and I have had consistently bad experiences with the staff. Most of the employees simply don't help. It feels like they don't want to work. When I bought my second bike, I also ordered an aero bar, and I was told that as soon as it arrived, they would install it for me. I've gone back twice already, and both times they refused to do it. Today, Thursday December 11, I arrived right at 10 a.m., being the first customer to walk in. None of the employees were busy, yet the only response I got was that "they didn't have time today." The service from Dino and the gentleman in the repair area was disappointing--they gave me attitude and refused to help, even though the store was completely empty. This is simply unacceptable. I will say there are two excellent employees: Tristan and Logan. They're always friendly, helpful, and willing to assist. Unfortunately, in my last visits they haven't been there, and when they're not, the service is terrible. This didn't happen only to me--my best friend had the same poor experience as well. After spending so much money at this store, it's frustrating to receive such unprofessional treatment.
