At age 59, I am skeptical about customer service when I approach a new business... I retired from large organization change management and most businesses STRUGGLE with operational competence! I live near Reveille Peak Ranch an hour from Austin. A new Bike Farm dude named Seth started greeting me when I rode there and I paid my entry fee. His gregarious outgoing nature was accompanied by solid explanations of their renewed role at Reville. He mentioned bike repair services and so I mentioned my wife's e-bike problem (it would not charge). Long story medium: Upon the next Reville visit, Seth took possession of my wife's ebike for diagnostics and repair in Austin. When I called Bike Farm Home Base and service answered, the ALSO ARTICULATE... SMOOTHLY COMPETENT mechanic KNEW THE BIKE and said the bike was ON THE STAND already being tested! WTF? I went from worried to thrilled! Within two days the problem was identified, and a new charger (the culprit) was in stock at a reasonable price! Diagnostic fees were SUPER REASONABLE and within a week from dropoff, Seth coordinated a pickup at Reville even though an event at the ranch made that difficult. So I talked for a couple minutes about the various things that I thought needed work. Only after I finished speaking did they tell me they couldn't work on it. Very rude. After having my bike for SIX WEEKS they call nonchalantly and say "They can't get a hold of the manufacturer so I'm out of luck." I go on the manufactures website and get a response in LESS THAN 10 minutes that they (the manufacturer) have NEVER RECEIVED A CLAIM for the bike?!?!? After speaking on the phone to no less than 3 rude and fully incompetent employees, low and behold, the warranty request went through!! Do not give a dollar to this place. Just got back from my 2nd visit to Bike Farm. Basically, what's not to like! Everyone is super friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. First time it was for a new chain which they fixed while I waited and the 2nd time was for new brake pads which were done the same day. They get the bike up on the rack right away and intelligently evaluate the problem with you standing there. Service prices are very reasonable imo. read more

Bike Farm is in walking distance from my house, so when my ebike (my primary form of transportation) got a flat, it felt like a no-brainer to get this basic mishap fixed there. They charge me $72 for it because it's double the labor for ebikes and like, ok, I've seen that before, that's high but I get it. The flat is fixed, I move on. Two days later I get a slow leak. I check the tire and see there is a seed-sized hole in it, which the mechanic either missed or didnt say anything to me about it. And granted, I didnt see it at first either but my job is not a bike mechanic! I take it back, I get a new tire, tube, and an Armour insert to prevent further punctures. They give me a small discount but it came to around $165. Not even two weeks later. Another flat!!! How!!!!!?!? In frustration, I take it down to REI where they tell me the Armour insert wasn't cut down enough and pinched the tube. They fix the flat as well and also charge more for an ebike, but it's a more reasonable $58. So in total, without calculating the ride shares I had to take instead of biking to things while it was out of commission, I spent close to $300 to fix a flat tire. I hate going after a small business and the guys were polite and chill to my face, but this was SEVERAL incidences where they just weren't really paying attention to what they were doing and it cost me dearly and REALLY inconvenienced me off and on for several weeks!!! read more

My e-bike needed new brake pads, so I called to see how long it would take. They told me to bring it by and that it would be a same day operation. My e-bike is my primary mode of transportation, so a quick repair is important. Showed up and was told by the service team that it would take 1.5 weeks. The service team then denied that I had ever been told it was a same day job (i.e., calling me a liar). Separate incident: my sister bought a high priced e-bike from them about 6 months ago. Several things were off, including the headlight that was clearly aftermarket and not OEM. After several calls, the shop finally agreed to install the OEM headlight, but only after a lot of headache on my sister's part. Overall--bad shop, dishonest shop. Go elsewhere. read more

They had good bikes at a good price and although I was a little intimidated walking up, the sales person was clearly a cyclist and was able to help me make a change from a mountain bike to more of a commuter bike that better fit what I used my bike for. I've been in the market to purchase a bike. I had my eyes on one at Bicycle Sports Shop on Parmer. Didn't work out. Guess I need to post that review. Anyhoot after seeing these guys on T.V. and reading the Yelp reviews, I hustled down Burnet to see what they had to offer. They were easy to find, and, the parking wasn't too complicated. It was a balmy Saturday afternoon. I wheeled in and hopped out of my truck with high hopes. I was glad to see they had all of their bikes out in the parking (like I saw on T.V.) lot so you could walk around and check them out. Everyone was wearing masks and that made the experience much more comfortable. Once I looked around I went to the podium and waited for an associate. I was approached in less than five minutes. He asked what my price range was and what was I looking for. After about one minute of conversation he steered me toward a Felt Verza Speed 20. I asked if I could take it for a spin and he said "sure". No questions. No fuss. I took the bike for a spin, and, decided that I wanted it. So I went back to Bike Farm to make the purchase. Once back I noticed my guy was busy with another customer, but, I was immediately approached by someone else. I think he was the owner. Nice guy who didn't put any sales pressure on me at all. I really liked that! I bought the bike and he upgraded my tires, added a kick stand, a water bottle holder, changed the seat to a man friendly one (guys I'm sure you know what I'm talking about), and, I got a camel back, helmet and lock. All were discounted nicely. He also reminded me to register the frame with Felt. I really appreciated the friendly no pressure professional service I got from these guys, and, I really liked that despite the pandemic they allow you to give the bikes a test spin prior to purchasing. I was shopping for a new bike last week. I wasn't too interested in brand so I checked out several shops, and remembered that Bike Farm is next to my favorite barber shop Honest Barber. I was greeted as I entered, told the guy what I was looking for, and they had one in my size on the floor. A few minutes later I was test riding. Since they are on a busy road you have to ride the sidewalk a short distance to a safe road to test ride on. When I came back and decided to get it the guy helping me suggested going with tubeless tires and said it was only $20 to upgrade. The bike was ready the next day and I rode it home. I love it so far and I anticipate going back for tune ups and spare parts. I would highly recommend this shop especially if you need help figuring out what you need. Bought a Marin MTB from Performance two years ago and ended up having a warranty issue (cracked my frame). Turns out, with the demise of Performance, Bike Farm is the closest local Marin dealer. I remembered Bike Farm as a quirky used shop on Lamar and didn't realize they'd become a more true full service shop. Brought the bike in and these guys couldn't have been better. Considering how backed up most shops are, these guys were able to get me a new frame and rebuild my bike in less than time than BSS needed to rebuild a bottom bracket. They emailed me semi-regularly with updates and the final cost to rebuild everything on the new frame was more than reasonable. I brought my bike in today along with my husbands bike for a tune-up. The management team looked my bike over and then answered all of the questions I had about buying a gravel bike. While I was looking at bikes and testing out the two I was interested in the service team updated me on everything needed to fine tune and clean up my husband's bike. I am so happy with the service from the entire team. I found a gravel bike that is more than I had anticipated, traded in my bike for fair and comfortable price and left my husband's bike with the service team who is also going to hold it for me while we are away for the next 7.5 weeks. I am surprised and delighted to see a company actually focus so much on customer service and doing what is right for the customer. I'm sorry I don't remember everyone's name, but please give Doug the dog a good love for me. He will be the reason I stop by occasionally when I am in town to get a lick and play fetch. This is my go to bike shop. I've purchased 2 bikes from them and go for service regularly. My son test rode and picked out his bike while they let me pick it up later for a surprise. Not only is everyone here knowledgeable, they are legitimately park of the cycling community. They make you feel welcome and included. Not to mention the service. Anytime I have a problem the service department goes above and beyond to make sure my bike is running smoothly. I'm constantly referring people and looking at the used bikes. I bought a bike from them a few months ago and was told there was a warranty for "Minor repairs and adjustments". I was also told the squealing of the brakes would stop after riding it for a bit. The brakes never stopped squealing after months so I took it back up there and they told me that the brakes wouldn't stop squealing and thats just how it was. On that same trip i asked them to fix my flat. They told me it wasnt covered under their "warranty" and that it would be 10 dollars to fix it. When i checked out they said it was 20 dollars. I asked them what repairs were covered under their warranty and they said "No repairs are covered just adjustments" So, lies all around. They try to take advantage of female customers. My friend recently has been teaching me how to repair my bike on my own and because of this I know now what tools and things to do (for basic fixes). I realized as I was cruising down Burnet Rd that the left brake wasn't put back on correctly (its just a pull through and tighten.... easy fix). The repair man wanted to charge me $16!!!! I couldn't believe the charge! Especially since I now know how easy the fix is. Do not fall into their trap. For anyone looking for a good bike shop go to The Peddler! Hey Bike Farm: When I bought my first bike, ever, less than two months ago - and you walked me through what to look for and you KNEW that it was my first bike -- why didn't you mention to me that having a serial number or keeping track of it would be important? When you talked me into buying the more expensive bike pump and sold me the more expensive bell, and bike rack - (Which I was happy to buy, after receiving the information and discussing it with you; I'm not an idiot) - I spent a lot of money. Maybe not to you, but to me. So, when my bike was stolen last night, and I came to you for help today: And you tell me, "Sorry, we don't keep serial numbers on our bikes," How is this legal or ethical? You're taking literally hundreds of dollars from people, but you have no way to track a bicycle purchased in your system when a customer gives you their credit card information? Or name? Or both? You receive and build new bikes, but you don't track them? Shady, shady, shady. Won't be there again. read more

I've had nothing but trouble with Bike Farm. Twice I've gone for service and parts. They are totally disorganized and don't know what they have in stock. They tell you they have one kind of tire and can't find it anywhere, then try to hard-sell you a more expensive one, then tell you they found the right one--but wait, actually they didn't, so it's back to the hard sell. One time they charged me $20 just to put my bike up on a stand, stare at it, and do nothing because they found out they had the wrong part. I should pay for your incompetence? Unbelievable. The manager is a complete dick; he treats his employees like crap and can't be bothered to give customers the time of day. Most recently my partner went for a flat fix; next day, her wheel came off because they mounted it incorrectly. I'm an experienced rider and have gone to shops all over the country for decades. I have a high tolerance for the kinds of shenanigans that make bike shops fun, if sometimes a little chaotic. That's not what's going on at Bike Farm. It's just a pain in the ass. read more

I had bought a $185 bicycle from Bike Farm and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the frame detached and broke just 2-3 months later. Un-fixable and a major bummer. Although I was not promised any sort of "warranty," the diligent and still happily working customer service people @BikeFarm in Brentwood on Burnet Road were KIND enough to exchange my broken bike, with a similar one. I was delighted and so happy! I was really worried my $185 was going to go down the drain, and then I'd be forced to pay another $200 to buy another bike. I have a long list of complaints with my experience at this farm. Lets just voice 1 of 3 for now. I paid $600 plus to have a hydraulic brake installed on my trike pedicab. I was told by Bob I need to get all my body weight on the pedal to engage the hydraulic brake cylinder he installed. THIS IS UNSAFE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE! Also my unique parking band brake was removed because Bob said he had no other room on an entire full axle to install his brake. (Total LIE!!!). To top it off I'm told none of the workmanship or parts is warrantied. Strongly encourage you to STAY CLEAR OF THIS Shit-FARM....This place is loaded with BS.... more than 4 months of BS in my case!! Racist Employees, Terrible Customer Service There should be a Whites Only sign before you enter!! I do NOT recommend the Bike Farm/ Plantation!! In the past I bought 4 kids bikes from this place!! Thought it was cool, minus the parking. Recently, I brought two of the bikes I purchased back for a trade-in (kids grow after all). I had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my adult life!!! The first Associate was super nice and informative... he told me to wait on the manager who was on a test ride ... he would give value for my trade-in bikes...Only for him to later kick me off the Farm!! the third sales associate walked away ( without any courtesy " I'll be right back, or ANYTHING!!) I turned mid question after, asking about a price, and the guy was 20 yards away helping someone else! The second associate who was the acting manager , then told me I had been "pushy" earlier in our interaction, (pushy; being defined by him as me asking 'how long I could expect to wait to get a trade in value for my bikes') knowing there was someone in front of me in line. And knowing also that I had CHILDREN with me! I thought time was a customary thing to ask about , I thought I had that privilege in society... Definitely not at the BIKE FARM. Sadly, My kids and I were the ONLY black people on the sales floor shopping for Christmas. This probably your best choice for electric bike repair in Austin. The staff is very friendly and outgoing. The prices are more then reasonable. The turnaround time was excellent. You can even get your bike picked up and returned for repair (remember to to tip the driver, he makes regular wage). I needed a simple tire and tube replacement; but my bike is a Tern GSD. My bike is a monster weight wise, even with it's folding ability. These guys picked it up at 1030 and returned it at 1330. I could not even get a call back on the same day from the place I bought it. This is definitely the place for a professional, reasonably priced, fix. read more

They used to be nice and helpful but not anymore. I bought a helmet - $ 184.01 in December 2020. The inside protection pads are wearing off and need to be replaced. The bike shop does not do this but told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer says they don't sell to individuals but the bike shop needs to order. However, bike farm is not going to order this. The helmet was really expensive and I guess now I need to go elsewhere to see if they can order the pads... I have been several times to bike farm and they used to be very nice and helpful. But before this visit I asked about some repairs and they said they have a wait list of two weeks and I needed to leave my bike there and they could not call me when I can bring the bike for repairs.. as if two weeks without a week do not matter... guess they have been too succesfull... read more
