Called about a flat we needed repaired. Explained that we needed the repair so my son could get to work. Was told, "sure no problem." Drove from up north in traffic only to be told when we got there, "just so you know, there's a two to three week wait." I responded, "Just so you know for your future customers, that'd be nice to be told when we called." Whoever was behind the desk and in charge didn't care and the employee just mumbled. They may do great work but I'll never find out. Their communication skills need vast improvement. Make sure to ask every question you can think of because they have little to no interest in actually talking to you or volunteering pertinent information. read more

I had a totally bewildering experience. I brought in two bikes, flagged two issues (a Bigcat function issue and a missing charger lead on the Pedego), and asked that the part be ordered since I couldn't use the bike without it. I had already called ahead requesting to book the bikes in, but was 'reassured' that there was no need - just call the day before - of course when I did i had to wait 5 days.... When the bikes were supposed to be ready, I was billed more than double the quote--with no prior notice. I also learned the charger wasn't ordered because it required a full replacement. A week passed. No update. I called again. Still no update. A gentleman (after I called) finally cagot on to discuss the charger and request a deposit. I discovered during that call that the original Pedego charger wasn't returned--it's my belief they still have key components. Also, the Bigcat charger was stuffed in a plastic bag and hung from the Pedego's handlebars, even though the Pedego has its own fitted storage bag--sloppy and careless. The 'gentleman' then defended the company, complained about wages and staffing, argued that "business is booming," and repeatedly interrupted me and misrepresented my concerns. He was rude and sarcastic. I've since found the charger part online for less than half the quoted price. Awful experience from a small business cornering a small market charging over $540 for what was effectively a tune up + a new tire. In short - I could have bought a new bike. read more

On December 26th, 2024, I brought my ebike in for repairs, specifically requesting a quote for headlight repair, emphasizing its low priority and my desire to have the bike functional before addressing it. Contrary to Aubrey's claims, I unequivocally did *not* authorize this repair. Her assertion that camera footage contradicts this is a blatant falsehood. While I preferred contact if repairs exceeded $200 (communicated beforehand to Aubrey and then to Mats), she misleadingly uses this as justification for the unauthorized work. I did not pressure Mats to contact Aubrey; he simply suggested I contact her directly as she was in Austin. My initial call to Aubrey was calm considering the circumstances, aiming for a fair resolution. However, her dismissive responses caused my demeanor to escalate, and I admit to using profanity. This escalation was a direct consequence of her unwillingness to address the issue fairly. I later apologized directly to Mats to which he accepted, clarifying my anger was directed at Aubrey's handling of the situation, not at him. Aubrey's claim that I "trash-talked" Eado Bike Co. is accurate, reflecting my negative experiences with their subpar repair work to my derailleur (the same derailleur Aubrey fixed as a result, despite not having any mechanic experience, and still charged me full price for). However, this hardly justifies her unprofessional behavior. Her claim that I left negative reviews for unvisited Electric Avenue locations is true. My issues were specifically with Aubrey's conduct, and she manages all these locations (to my point, she was at their Austin location when I called, and the business line connects to all locations) Most egregious is Aubrey's assertion that I suggested Mats pay for the headlight repair. This is a complete fabrication and a defamatory statement. While I appreciate the apology for not being contacted when the cost exceeded $200, this does not excuse the unauthorized work or subsequent unprofessional treatment. Aubrey's attempt to shift blame onto Mats for "inadequate service writing skills" is a transparent deflection. Her poor communication is solely responsible for this situation. The blatant lies and defamatory statements demonstrate a profound disregard for honest business practices. My recent visit to pay in full, following reports to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's office, was precipitated by Aubrey's threat to charge $20 per day for bike storage--a fee never mentioned prior to the work's completion. The stark contrast between Aubrey's attitude and Mats' entirely professional demeanor raises serious questions about Aubrey's accountability. Mats and I even had a great conversation upon retrieval of my bike. Her mention of a demanding work schedule was ironic, considering that the day I brought my bike in, I had been well into working 15-19 hours a day, through the holidays. Her refusal to negotiate a $40 charge demonstrates a concerning level of greed I find to be out of touch, and *privileged*. Finally, despite Mats' excellent work, his employment by Aubrey prevents me from recommending him without implicitly endorsing her unprofessional business practices. I find the implication that I'm taking an unbased dig at a competing business of mine a bit peculiar. I clarified that I was looking for a single tire repair after I received the ballpark number and it was confirmed again - and they also mentioned fixing both tires would be closer to $200 .I left the review because I felt like I was being taken advantage of at that price point, even though I chose to take business elsewhere which I recommend others do. Addressing the "I should do it myself" comment; it actually is relatively simple because I sat there and watched the other shop do it with relative ease, while you guys told me it would take 2 weeks due to a backlog. I feel confident I can repeat the process given it's not super complex (not many YouTube videos on how to do this). Alas, I have gifted you another star because I find the aggressive and unhinged nature of the owners responses to these lower reviews absolutely hilarious and entertaining. I'm not a "cyclist" I'm an older guy looking for some exercise and an alternative method of commuting. That's where this review is coming from. Over the last few days, I've hit 5 different bike shops looking, learning, and demoing in an effort to see if an e-bike was right for me. Most of these shops were like stepping back in time to a moment before e-bikes existed. You got the feeling that e-bikes were a side hustle or necessary evil, and that they are their passion for first choice, that they somehow taint the pure cycle sport or lifestyle. And as a result the selection and enthusiasm and information was lacking. Not so with Electric Avenue, if the other shops were a 1972 VW Bug, Electric Avenue was a 2021 Telsa Model 3 - modern, purpose built, competent, compelling (and expensive, but maybe not so when you consider all the factors and numbers). If you are e-bike curious or serious, this is probably the best shop in Austin. And worth saying is that they are are offering products on the pricy side, but that is because they only stock quality products, forgoing the low cost traps that the market is filled with. And after 50 hours of extensive research on the web, and days of ride testing, it is very clear that you get what you pay for in this market, and that the difference in price is fully warranted for the products delivered. I still don't know if I'm ready to drop the coin on an e-bike, but as I think this over I wanted to give a shout out to the people helped me the most in my search for this answer. read more

At the beginning of the pandemic a friend got me to try a pedal assist E bike. I really enjoyed riding it and decided to look around to get one of my own. It's the best purchase I've made all year. I've enjoyed discovering Austin in new ways and for simple small shopping trips I don't have to use the car anymore. Mark and Audrey were incredibly helpful. They let me try a few of the bikes and explain the pluses and minuses of them. I decided on the gazelle arroyo and couldn't be happier. It's comfortable and quite easy to get around with although it is a very heavy frame. With the new bike paths cropping up around town I'm seeing a lot more riders. The pedal assist make Hills much easier and general riding lots of fun. read more

My co-worker owns a Zoom Stryder standup scooter from a Singapore company, which turned out to have horrible service. After looking around on my co-worker's behalf, I helped take her scooter to Electric Avenue for service since it looked promising. SERVICE: The staff overall was kind and not pushy, and I was very happy that they were able to take in the scooter for diagnosis, even though this scooter was not a brand that they stock or were familiar with. After diagnosing the scooter, they were able to determine that it was a battery issue, and not only ordered a new battery from a different supplier, but also soldered the battery to make it compatible with the scooter. I was able to pick up the scooter in perfect working order again, which made my co-worker very pleased as well. VALUE: For servicing, it can be a bit pricey, but these people are specialists that seem to know their craft well. As the only place that were not only willing to diagnose the scooter, but also repair it into working order, there isn't any other place that would do the same for a scooter brand that isn't common. ATMOSPHERE: So I only visited the shop twice for drop-off and pick-up for servicing, but the shop had quite a nice vibe in a very cozy shopping center. The interior was very comfy with its light-colored aesthetics. As for the products sold, they seem to have quite a diverse collection of scooters for sale, and I was tempted to grabbing one myself in a return visit. VERDICT: Overall, I came away with a great encounter. The staff was quite professional as they kept me informed on the progress of the service and what was going, the service was excellent on the scooter in returning it into great working condition, and the price was worth it considering they were the only ones that were able to service it. I have to say that I can't compare this store to others, because I was looking for a particular brand (Gazelle, which is solid, Dutch) and they were the ones in town carrying it. I get the impression that they mostly stock a few reliable brands that they really trust. I hate to say it; but this is not the place to get your electric bike maintained. I got hit (welcome to the new Austin) and took it in. The people were great again and the fix was a disaster again. My bike worked; but it was returned with a habit of shifting gears whenever it chose. I was so over this place I just decided to live with problem. I did not want to deal with whatever surprise would come with the fix. I thought this was the only place I could get my Tern GSD fixed; it is not. I eventually took my bike elsewhere to fix the new problem. I said it before and I will say it again; great place to buy a bike and a terrible place to get one fixed. Used this shop because they are listed as a local service center for my Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11+ (https://fluidfreeride.com/pages/faq) I contacted Electric Avenue 8 months ago to let them know that I am purchasing a scooter that listed them as a service provider. Electric Ave. then said that shops will call and do that, Electric Ave has known for at least 8 months and they still communicate and have Electric Ave listed on fluidfreerides repair page and Electric Avenue still knows this to this day. Fast forward 8 months and I run over a nail on my rear tire and contacted fluidfreeride.com and purchased a new tire. Electric Avenue said they could fix it and began to fix my tire. When I picked up my scooter it was not safe to ride because in repairing my tire they destroyed my wires and dropped my scooter in doing so and it was just "not right feeling". They told me to contact fluidfreeride.com because they don't work on a scooter like mine (even after they are the ones who broke my scooter when repairing) and told me to take my unsafe scooter home and wait for replacement parts to come in (controller and the frame pin they bent when they dropped it, yeah they dropped it because the tech told me and I'm sure their security cameras caught it in their 200 square foot shop. I still received my $20 part (that I didn't even try to charge them) from China before they had my scooter attempted at their repair attempt #2. Three weeks later I get a call saying my scooter was ready and repaired. I went immediately over there and it only took me 5' of actual pavement surface to realize it's still broken. The owner/manager sitting from his office chair kept asking "What is wrong with it?... What is wrong, we checked it on a computer." While remaining comfortably in his chair and refused to get up and even look at their problem. They still had the gall to charge me $80/hr ($220 total) for the tire change and it's costing me $200 to have it shipped for their mistakes/repair to Miami, Florida (the scooter weighs 110lbs, it's not a rental scooter. I paid $3K because of it's speed). They like to belittle my scooter for their overpriced Electric Bikes and try to blame the manufacturer because they don't have the talent necessary to charge $80/hr in labor. What kind of skills and certifications are necessary to work on electric scooters? It's not Electric Ave. They will say they monitored it via computer stats, but they refused to get out of the chair so I could attempt to show them their mistake. Avoid this place. 1 owner will say 1 thing, the other will say something else. Electric Ave likes the free advertising... UNTIL THEY SCREW UP YOUR SCOOTER... then they just want to put the "toilet lid" down like it would magically go away. But don't wait too long they charge a storage fee. AVOID!!!! MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!!! EITHER YOU WILL WORK ON IT OR YOU WON'T! If you know that someone is using you as a service center for at least 8 MONTHS and you don't contact the seller to say "hey we don't like this" then you are partially liable. AVOID THIS PLACE! I'll get at least $200 in World Karma Points just preventing others from having a horrible experience like mine. AVOID AVOID AVOID! Don't be surprised when "7 on my side" is at your storefront. Forgot to add what I asked the tech after I found out about my destroyed scooter... Me: "Have you read the online help videos listed on Fluidfreerides shop?" Tech: "yes, but they didn't really help! Look at all those wires!" Owner: "How many controller's?" Tech: "One" Me: "What can I do to help you get my scooter fixed?" Tech: "Wiring Diagram" 10 minutes later after going home and Googling "Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11 Wiring Diagram" I return to Electric Avenue and give them a color coded wiring diagram AND LET THE OWNER KNOW THAT IT HAS 2 CONTROLLER'S! 2 controller's yes 2 and not 1 controller that your tech thought. Owner: "Oh!" ...while tech walks away. Owner tries to blame Fluidfreeride for a defective controller, so Fluidfreeride sent me a new controller. I asked Electric Avenue to keep the old controller because of shady business with Electric Avenue. I will be shipping my electrically fried scooter (and whatever else they damaged in their care) to Miami for repair soon. *This will be an ongoing review. I purchased a brand new Magnum UI5 from here, great bike, I recommend it to anyone. But shortly after I got a flat tire on the rear tire which I thought might be more complicated to fix since it's where the electric motor is located. So I decided to not even fiddle with it and take it back to Electric Avenue Scooter assuming they would hook me up and probably fix the flat in no time, especially since I just paid $1,700 for this bike not three weeks before. Boy was I wrong, they said it took two people and an hour of labor to fix this flat. They wanted to charge me $90!!! I thought this was insane for fixing a flat tire, I can get a cheaper price to fix a single flat tire on my car. The lady gave me some BS story about how complicated it is to remove the rear wheel and blah blah typically shady mechanic talk it sounded like. I'm writing this post now because I got another flat tire and going back to Electric Avenue Scooter was the last thing I was about to do. All I had to do was unplug one simple wire. Then it was exactly the same as taking off any rear wheel on a bike. I timed myself and it took exactly 14 minutes and one wrench to remove, put in a new inner tube, put the tire back on, and simply plug the cable back in. Either their "mechanics" are the most incompetent bike people in the world or they practice shady business principles and charge people way over the cost of the actual work they performed. This should have cost $10 to get done at a legitimate bike shop that they claim to be. DO NOT GO HERE TO GET ANY WORK DONE ON YOUR BIKE! read more

I wish I would have taken the time to read the reviews here before taking time out of my day to visit this place. They are currently the only Haibike Dealer (electric bike brand) in the Austin area. They have a huge selection of Haibikes on their site, after an exhaustive search I narrowed my decision down to three different models. The Electric Avenue site showed that they had two in stock of each model I was interested in. Now, their prices were about $800 higher than internet pricing, but I don't mind paying extra for dealing with a local place to service the bike. I walked in and finally got the joke. They have a tiny showroom filled with electric scooters. They had two Haibikes, one of which is recalled and could not be sold. Their website shows over a 100 Haibikes in stock. Don't let their website fool you, they have no actual models in stock, all of them are in a warehouse in Ohio. Oh, thanks. Hopefully one of the real bike shops in Austin will get the Haibike line. read more

I went there with a functional e-bike for a small repair and after a month I was given back scrap pieces left on the sidewalk. Aside from that, as far as I checked, the store offers: - Customer service with attitude - A fleet of new overpriced e-bikes and scooters - A longer fleet of overpriced e-bikes waiting to be repaired in solitude for an indefinite amount of time If you want more details please read the following description. My electric bicycle had a minor issue with the throttle as sometimes it would not respond when I was trying to speed up. I decided to take it to Electric Avenue Scooters to find out what was the problem and fix it. I was asked to pay an $80 deposit fee for the bicycle inspection and the diagnosis of the problem. The technician explained that this fee would potentially cover the repair cost if the issue was not significant. We agreed that I would be contacted within three business days to be given an estimate of the repair cost and authorize further work if needed. Otherwise, I was told that I would be able to pick up my bicycle after the inspection. A week went by without receiving any calls from the store so I decided to contact them to find out what was the bike's problem. To my surprise, I was told that nobody from the staff had given a look at it yet and they would call back within another two or three business days. I spent one more week waiting patiently, but again there was no call. When I contacted them to check if there was any progress the store manager started making some guesses about potential causes of the problem. However, I was not provided with a diagnosis and an estimate of the repair cost. It seems that my bicycle was not inspected at all at that time. In a later communication it was explained to me that the bike's controller would have to be replaced. After an unsuccessful endeavor from my end to find a spare part from the seller and speed up the process, I was told that they would look it up and call me back. At that point I still had no estimate of the repair costs. After ten days of waiting I decided to call them again. Eventually, the repair cost estimate was too high. When I rejected the offer, the store manager tried to overcharge me with fees that I had never been informed of and I had never agreed to pay. We agreed that I would pick up the bicycle at the same day to avoid any storage costs. When I went into the store my bicycle was presented to me dismantled and I was waiting for the technician to reassemble it so that I could leave. As I was waiting the store manager characterized my e-bike as "garbage". She then vigorously grabbed its parts and moved them out of the store, leaving me and the technician gazing at her heroic act. While she was laughing for her achievement, I explained that this is unacceptable and I would have to report her. As you can see in the photo, I was left with a dismantled vehicle that I cannot ride and I do not know if it is working at all. I consider Electric Avenue Scooters liable for all the expenses associated with transporting and re-assembling my electric bicycle. I reserve my right to pursue further legal action and I will be expecting a refund of its original retail price in the case it is not functioning as it did before bringing it to that store. EDIT: After bringing my bike back home, I detected and resolved the issue myself in less than 15'. No problems noticed since then. Being an engineer, I can say that no "reverse engineering" or "custom re-engineering" had to be employed. I also understand your struggle to use technical terms to justify your incompetence and tardiness. As mentioned above, the incident had to be reported, since you refused to provide me a service that I had already paid for (i.e. diagnosis and reassembly). I was informed that this was not your first interaction with the police. The officers had to account for your false and defamatory premises and provided both parties with options to file charges. However, I admire your imagination in fabricating how they applauded your "generosity". read more

Scammers, the lot of them. This company performed illegal work on my vehicle and held it for ransom. Discovered a hole in my gas tank and a dead battery later. Avoid this shop like the plague. Brought in a new scooter that's been sitting in need of a tune up. Paid the full estimate, $400, up front, and was told to wait a month. 2 months later, I remembered I had left this there. They never called me to update. I visited the store, expecting it to be completed, but it was just outside, where I had left it and not even started on, gathering dust and debri from the road. They told me they were still waiting on parts ...2 months later. The next night I received an email now stating it was complete. Now the cost is over $1,000. Why? Because they waited so long, that they couldn't find the parts again and had to order more expensive parts and did services to my scooter that I never agreed to. Her response to "Why couldn't you have just called me on this?" was "You said you wanted the scooter fixed, so we fixed it." I was literally charged over $300 for 'knocking mud off the muffler', which I stated I could've bought a new muffler for that price, they laughed to think I could. With a visit from Austin Police, I acquired my scooter back with my paid receipt. 20 miles later, we discovered they placed a hole in my gas tank and the new battery I paid for is a dead one. They declined to honor the warranty at all since I would not pay them the $1,000 they were trying to scam me out of. I get it now. These scammers found a nice place to set up shop in the triangle to fool all the rich folk into shady deals like this and doing unauthorized repairs, holding your vehichle for ransom. read more

I purchased a Vectrix VX-2 electric scooter in July. It's been 5 months and 2000 miles, and everything has been smooth sailing. The reason why I'm writing this review is that yesterday my rear tire had a nasty flat, leaving my bike stranded in South Austin. It was Sunday evening, but I was able to reach Mark, one of the owners, because he leaves his cell number on the business answering machine recording. He arranged for a mechanic to come to south Austin and fix my bike this morning. That was above-and-beyond service to get me back on the road very quickly. I've been very happy with my Vectrix scooter, but the service that I got over the past 24 hours has made me certain that buying my electric scooter at Electric Avenue was the right decision. On a whim, I purchased a used gas powered Chinese scooter. Once I purchased it, I found out that I couldn't just take a written test to get a "K" on my license, I had to take the entire safety course! After a bit of searching, I found the course onine and signed up. The course was Friday evening, Saturday morning in the "field," Saturday afternoon indoors, then Sunday morning to practice and take the test. The instructor's name was Choon and he has over 35 years of motorcycle riding experience. The class was interesting and informative. Choon would watch us ride and let us know what we were doing wrong, and what we were doing right. The class size was small, so I always felt that I was getting individual instruction. I chose to ride a scooter, but you can also take the course using a motorcycle. Effective Jan 1, 2015, the course is required of motorcyclists and scooter riders, ending up with an "M" endorsement on your license. It felt like a lot of work, since I took the course in July, but once it was done, I had passed, and been congratulated. I do feel that I am a much safer and aware rider than I was before. My first phone interaction with Electric Avenue Scooters was great. I was searching around as a first time scooter buyer and they were very helpful and answered all my questions and more. So later when I actually bought a 2009 Vespa LXV 150 on craigslist and needed the oil changed I called Electric Ave. The scoot was stuck at my house (in west campus not too far from the triangle) because it was stalling out and flashing the oil light, so Mark from Electric Ave. said he could come by at 4pm that same day to fix it and it would only take 30 mins. (I had previously called Vespa Austin and they said that I would have to transport the scoot to their location, and they could not come to me). Mark said it would be $34 for the oil change, $30 for the house visit (which I felt was a little steep but didn't mind paying it if my scoot got fixed that same day). He also mentioned, but did not explain very well a 19.95 diagnosis fee. I asked him to call me if he was going to be late because I had an appointment at 5pm. He was late by 30 mins., and did not call ahead to warn me as I had asked. Mark then said it would take at least an hour to change the oil because it was a Vespa (which I wonder why he didn't tell me before!). He did not bring a new filter, which he said he was going to have to get from Vespa Austin and charge me an extra $14.00. By the time he gets the muffler off, he realizes he doesn't have the right tool! Before he leaves, he asks if I want to pay the 19.95 fee. ALL HE DID WAS TAKE OFF THE MUFFLER AND WASTE MY TIME, then asks for me to pay him! I told him I would pay when the oil is changed. Mark says he can come by at 10 am tomorrow and finish the job. Then Audrey from Electric Ave. called later that night to tell me they could not come and fix my scoot the next day, reminded me of a $19.95 fee, and said I would have to bring in my scoot to their store if I wanted the oil changed! Usually I don't write reviews on Yelp, but just wanted to warn potential customers that the only thing Electric Ave. might do is WASTE YOUR TIME AND ASK FOR MONEY! I am going to change the oil myself, thanks to ScooterGirl on Youtube. *Mark was a very nice person and probably a good mechanic, but this situation was handled very poorly. read more

AMAZING!!!! I am so glad the first repair shop I called was rude because it turned me away from them and I found these guys! From the first call Mark, Audrey and the team were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to get my scooter hooked up. They called with updates as they were working on it - prices are very fair - customer service is impeccable! I'm an Electric Avenue Scooter LIFER! When I picked my scooter up from the shop and drove it home the idle was too low. Mark was l Heading out of the shop and made a house call to check and adjust my idle settings. He adjusted the idle and took the time to make sure it wasn't another issue with the hoses, etc. I'm very confident in their work and absolutely love that they run a very honest business! ***UPDATE*** Took the BRC1. Was lucky enough have Choon for an instructor. Personable, professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and fun. Keep in mind instructors are independent contractors, but the sponsors (in this case Electric Avenue) have control over who they hire to run the classes. Highly recommend! read more

Apparently, the Yelp filter seems to think my original review of Electric Avenue Scooters was worthy of filtering. So I will say this: More than a year after having bought an electric scooter from them I've been totally happy with their service. They've answered all my questions and ordered a few parts for me, all while being friendly and professional. I have looked at a few of the negative reviews and have decided that you can't please everyone or control how people perceive reality. Some people have agendas or chips on their shoulders that have NOTHING to do with the actual experience of shopping there and that's a shame because these folks deserve better. read more

If your in the electric scooter/bicycle market - do yourself a favor and check these guys out. Not only are they into something really cool, they're some of the nicest people I've met. I came in from out of town with my brother and met with Audrey & Mark about a model we had in mind. We came with a laundry list of questions that they took the time to answer. For peace-of-mind, they freely allowed us to demo the bike. This is family operated, small business that has a passion about the products they sell and city they live in. Where to begin about this fantastic place?! Mark and Audrey. They own the shop and are very good at what they do. I came across this jewel when they 1st opened around 2009 or 2010. Even though they don't sell GoPed scooters, Mark fixed my 2007 GoPed 750 ESR and the cost was very reasonable. He is so very knowledgeable about all things electric! I have learned so much. Fast forward to my recent repair this week, the same amazing service. bam! I'm thrilled to have my GoPed back on the streets. Mark and his small, cool team, took on the GoPed again and she's like new. The price was very fair if not low for the time and knowledge I was able to tap into. Electric Avenue is awesome. Can not recommend this place enough. The owner's Mark and Audrey are the two nicest people on the planet. The market area is awesome and extremely fair priced and the show room is clean and really neat! I go there for the repair shop. They fix ANY kind of scooter (not just electric). I took my '09 Zuma there twice now. Each time they were quick, reliable, friendly and priced VERY fairly. They gave me tips on how to care for my scooter better, and made me feel like a family member while doing it. Go here. Buy scooters. Bring them back if they need repair. read more
