Now I am no BMXer by all means but I do have a family member who is an avid BMXer & will make trips up from San Antonio to Austin to hit up Empire BMX for his gear, apparel, and a chance to catch a glimpse in seeing the shop cat, Waylon :) Before visiting my family sometimes I will be convinced to go grab orders from the shop before I leave Austin but the shipping costs aint no thang either especially for the unique items you can find at Empire. Ordering online is the easiest and fastest way to check out Empire BMX's inventory, sales, and what gear is available for the buying. They have a local pick up option for me to choose for my online orders. The process is super easy & quick as you will receive an email giving you the green light to come by and grab your order. When I arrive there are great precautions happening at the store regarding COVID. It is recommended you sanitize as soon as you walk in and wait behind their red rope for service. As you wait for someone to help there are plenty of items, gear, and bikes that will catch your eye. You can look but remember do not touch - let them know what you are interested in and they will bring it over to you to check it out. Parking can be tricky as it is front end parking with 4-5 spots in the front. If it is too busy there is parking in the back (follow the signage) as well. When you back out to be sure to watch your tail as you will be backing up onto light traffic that are coming down from Lamar Blvd. read more

I live in the LA, CA. Area and you'd think I would have some amazing BMX shops at my disposal, no? Yes and no. Yes we have a few, but not amazing. Basically they have gotten fat selling to their crews and don't really care about new business. That and unprofessional sh%# like your business phone going right to a full mailbox message. Enter my association with Empire. All mail order, and all well priced and very quick order fulfillment. The staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to BMX bikes and accessories. They support the local BMX pump track scene on 9th street which is a plus. The prices are competitive therefore I always make an effort to come here from south Austin to support them. They're also friendly which is is a plus. The parking is a little limited but they're almost never packed. read more

The folks behind the counter are always very helpful and go out of their way to walk him through different pieces of equipment, add-ons etc, while clearly explaining how to put them on his bike. I sold my old 20" before I moved here and I was itching for a new ride. I just happened to drive past and I see this place. I'm a big dude and I was looking into 24" bmx cruisers but no store really carried the Sunday Model C or the Stolen Saint, as those were the two I really wanted to handle before I made the 4" jump. They had one on display, I rode 5 feet and knew it was a great ride. I paid fair-market price, got a t-shirt and it already came assembled (on-point) and I didn't have to pay much extra. I recommend this place highly. Got in and out in under 10 minutes and I didn't get hassled or asked how "experienced" I am or if I can "handle" it, as most places hilariously have been for me. read more

Every time I have gone to Empire BMX I've had a positive experience. Long version: As a complete beginner I had bought a used BMX bike and went to the shop to get some starting parts (grips, brakes, helmet, etc.) and was a bit overwhelmed by the selection. However, the employee that helped me was very patient with me as I asked questions about the advantages and disadvantages of the various styles and he never tried to push a higher priced product. I have since been back about 4 other times and every time I've had a similar experience...and a few of the times I thought I needed to buy a part to fix some small issue with the bike, and they told me how to fix it without buying anything...and they even let me use their tools! Short version: These employees really enjoy their jobs and it shows in the way they treat their customers. I can't recommend this place enough if you need anything related to BMX. read more
