Bike Alot is a new shop in town that you must visit! It is has an amazing selection of unique bikes of all styles. I have my eyes on a few of their commuters! It is owned by a man named Brad. Brad is hands down the best bike mechanic in all of Austin! No one can get my race bikes dialed in like Brad. His attention to detail, passion, and expertise make me believe he can communicate with bikes simply with the touch of his God-like hands. He was the Chief Mechanic as Austin Tri-Cyclist for many years before venturing out to open his own shop. Support this shop! It is super amazing!

After 25 years of riding the same '95 steel MTB, I finally decided to buy a new gravel bike, wanting a Kona Rove DL. This was in Sep '20, when there wasn't a bike to be found in the US. I reached out to Brad and he placed an order with Kona, but after a few weeks it became clear I wouldn't see it until spring '21 @ the earliest. That's when Brad went to work on my behalf. He conjured some magic that only someone with decades in the bike industry could and found me a frameset. I told him my vision/budget and after a few months of searching he was able to finish this build for me, WAY exceeding my expectations. This was not an easy build during the pandemic. A perfect ride for me, totally dialed in. Brad doesn't just work in a shop, he lives and loves bikes like few others. He was responsive and available the whole time. This is a shop that gives back. Excellent product, service and experience. Thanks Brad.

First great ride on my new KONA... Awesome Ride...

Just made a great investment with the purchase of a new Kona mountain bike... Can't say enough of the help I got with this bike, I had a thousand questions, and received a thousand great answers... I would w/out hesitation recommend "Bikealot " to anyone looking to buy their last great bike... I got my first ride of 2016 today.

I went there but they had a 6 foot table blocking the door so that you couldn't go in. This business is just for carry out.

It has been a while since I have been in a store where every store associate is super helpful and go out of their way to extend next level service. When I was an avid cyclist, Trek Bicycle was known as Austin's most dependable and all-around bike shop with a wide range of cyclist customers. I went into Trek for a two-fold purpose: 1) buy new bike shoes and 2) inquire regarding the status of my bike tires that have been seating in the garage for years (new tires or new tubes). When you walk into the store, you are met with a sea of bicycles...every color and style imaginable. Fortunately, I do not need a new bicycle because mine is in good shape. So, first, I inquire about my tires. The repair specialist was so super helpful, and he assured me that my tires might be ok. He suggested bringing the tires into the bike shop so he could inspect them. Next, I headed over to the bike shoe area, which is small but importantly they were having a sale. I snagged some $120 bike shoes for $30...score!!! Also, the sales associate offered to order me some insoles since they were out in my size. Super kind... The store sells a wide range of Trek bikes, including road, mountain, hybrid, and electric models, along with associated accessories and gear. The sales associates are top notch - super knowledgeable and not high-pressure sales folks. Also, the bike shop is known for its bike rentals, especially for visitors wanting to explore nearby Lady Bird Lake trail or nearby neighborhoods. Next visit tire inspection...

Absolutely no pressure in sales and when you're spending $2k on a bicycle you want to feel like you're not being pressured to buy but being helped to purchase the right bike for you. Can't recommend the team here enough! Post purchase I came back in to get some adjustments and advice and the team was more than willing to take time to help adjust seat height and hood angle to get the right comfort fit. I was cross shopping a Canyon brand bike but you just can't put a price on having a brick and mortar to turn to for post purchase support and service. Highly recommend this store and Trek!

Mellow Johnny's was cool, modern & bright. This full service bike shop has quite literally everything you need. My friend bought energy supplements for a non-cycling event. Additionally, the staff was polite & answered all of my questions. Mellow Johnny's has a nice selection of bikes for sale , apparel, & other supplies. They were sold out of the more common sizes on the discount rack. However, I was pleased with my purchase. Prices are in line with what I pay in the Washington DC area. I would've rented a bike & jumped on a group ride if I felt better. Welp until next time!!

I let the sales person know the model and size I wanted and let him know I was interested in accessories, as well. He was terse and seemed irritated I called as he informed me that it wouldn't arrive until October (this is June). {2020} I asked if I could get it any sooner or if I needed to preorder. He, in a very frustrated tone and manner, told me that I could call other stores around the country and see if they would be willing to ship it to me. I tried to explain that I was asking so that I could find out the procedure to buy and was trying to find out if I needed to pay for it in advance or pre-order it. After he let me know I wouldn't need to pre-pay; I started to ask another question with the intention of seeing if he had suggestions on other bikes that might work for me. When he interrupted me again with frustration in his voice, I hung up on him. Maybe he misunderstood the phrase "Keep Austin Weird" as "Keep Austin Wired". I'm guessing there are no commission sales. Either way, I'm pretty certain I can locate the model I am looking for elsewhere... Even if it's in October, another city, or an online retailer. Update: {2025} I ended up calling a store in San Marcos next. They were amazing and I ended up buying several bikes from them over the next 5 years, whil sending all my friends from Austin to them. I was talked into going to Mellow Johnnies a few months back to get some supplies to help a friend with his bike. At least they maintained some consistency, their service was terrible. Whether you are a noob or an experienced rider, I'd find another shop.
