I brought my bike here for a $1,400 build and left with it unsafe to ride -- loose screws, cracked aero bar rest, frayed derailleur cable, poor indexing, squealing brakes, and no chain catcher (a $35 part that prevents frame damage). When I asked if there was anything I should know, the only reply was "brakes are weak." In fairness, Dave refunded the $200 build fee (and tax) quickly, made a solid frame selection, and is an excellent bike fitter -- that's clearly his real strength. Beginner to intermediate bikes could be serviced here, but for high-performance builds, I expected more. Anyone with less biking experience could have been seriously injured. I have been by here a few times for repairs and to buy cleaning supplies etc. for my bike. Had a rear wheel bend on my mountain bike. They ordered a new wheel, installed it, and had me up and running again in less than a week. I Also like that the new wheel was better quality than the standard one that came on my bike and was a bit wider since I'm running wider tires than what came on the bike when I bought it. It's nice to be able to support a local bike shop rather than ordering things online. I'm glad they're here and will continue to support them in the future. David and his team were exceptionally helpful in getting me right in to build my bike and stock up on essential riding accessories (helmet, spare tubes, tools, etc.). He went above and beyond to ensure my bike was safe to ride since the bike was shipped with an incorrect brake assembly mounting bracket. I also had a complete bike fit done. 3 stars because yes, the bikes got a tune up but the customer service was poor. We decided to reach out to Buda Bike Co based on recommendations from our neighborhood but the customer service is not what we expected. We first requested for the bikes to be picked up, the appointment was confirmed, and no one showed up. When we called, whoever answered the phone was very rude and over explained personal reasons why the bike wasn't picked up. They reached out the next day to reschedule the pick up. The bike was the picked up and finally someone friendly came by. A few days later, I called to follow up and we were told the bikes were going to be dropped off by X day. Didn't happen. Finally got a call back and it was the same rude individual. When the bike finally got dropped off, again same rude service. And when he left, he made a comment like "enjoy your day... doing nothing". Wth..?? I understand they were understaffed but why the attitude. Not going back to get my bikes serviced. read more

The customer experience was great from the moment I walked into the door and it didn't end there, I needed a tuneup as most brand new bikes do shortly after starting to ride. I messed up my brakes trying to fix the brake pads myself. Luckily Ray was working that day, estimated it to be a quick fix, and had it back up & running within 30 minutes. He was very upfront about pricing which is nice as a young woman to receive from any shop. As I was waiting, he recommended some small businesses within the area & even showed me how to adjust my brake pads for future reference. I went in on Saturday morning, March 4th, to get a flat tire repaired on a stroller. Although the business was busy and there were repairs scheduled ahead of mine, David took care of me pretty quickly so my family and I could enjoy the beautiful day in downtown Buda. He could have told us to drop off the tire and come back, but he didn't and I'm grateful for it. Thank you, David! 5-stars for quick, professional service! I brought my Specialized here to get a tune-up & inspection (it sat in my garage for 5 years). In the past, I brought it to larger shops where it took over 3 days to get serviced. So when they told me it would be ready later that day I said to myself "yeah right!" Well, they were true to their word & I got my bike back all tuned up, with new tire tubes, ready to go again in less than 6 hours! I called around to get price quotes on having a tune up on my bike that has been sitting in a barn for about 7 years. Buda Bike wasn't the lowest price, but they were the closest to me, so I decided to try them out. I am no expert in bikes, but I know how to research and price things out. The crew at Buda Bike were very friendly and very helpful. They were patient and explained everything that was going to be done and what might cost me money. Overall a very good experience when I dropped off my bike. I got the call to pick up my bike a week later, exactly how long they estimated it would take. Again, they were very detailed and explained to me everything that was done and even threw in a discount. At the end of all the work, they became the lowest price by over $20 from anywhere else that I called. They have a good crew there that are honest and will treat you right. read more

So I just moved into Austin last week as I write this review. I had to ship my bike from Colorado and didn't bring the tools to put it back together... and I also crashed my bike flying over the handlebars all in one week. These guys didn't just accommodate my sudden requests, they excelled. I got word that this place just opened and was near my house in south Austin so I decided to drop my bike off to be put back together from the shipping box. Not a hard job. No biggie but they had it done. Small but clean shop. There shop has a nice little bar with stools to sip a coffee and BS bike stuff with Eddie as he does bike work too btw. Anyway, my bike was ready same day I dropped it off. I asked for some different tires, they got me exactly what I needed for my riding conditions. No biggie right? Here's where these guys excel...customer service. Fantastic customer service to be exact. I'm a newb to the cycling world so still trying to figure out what I need and don't need to pay for per se. I asked about getting a second set of wheels and tires for distance/exercise instead of commuting and was set on spending around a thousand bucks. They not only pointed me to a set that would save me $600 and would be perfect for my 'non-competitive' needs, but also told me I don't need hydraulic disc brakes when I already have mech disk brakes (this is where the crash convo came in btw). I've got a 2017 Specialized roubaix elite stock besides the 32mm tires I requested to be put on. Point being, they had two chances to adhere to my desires to blow money and saved me from that both times. Pretty sweet and the exact opposite of what a big commissioned based bike shop would do. Now, to my crash. I thought I needed a whole new brake mechanism after hitting an unavoidable curb coming out of a corner way too fast (luckily I got more jacked up than my bike and if I weren't wearing a helmet, I'd probably be suffering permanent brain damage based on the impact my helmet took off the pavement...yikes). Anyway, I called a friend to pick my bloody ass up, and in the mean time, I called Buda bike co. telling them I'm about to pay them a visit. I'm thinking this will cost hundreds. I walked in and James made a joke how I was just jealous of his scars and scabs and needed some of my own haha. Anyway, they took a look at my bike. Re-adjusted the brake handle mechanism (I don't know the exact terminology being a newb,) showed me what they did on top of that for my own knowledge, made sure everything was in sound order, and then I took it for a spin...just fine. Here's the kicker, they didn't even ask for a payment. I told them my credit card and wallet were at home and I'd call in so they can bill me. They said don't worry about it. Seriously!? On the spot fix - oh and I even got offered to be pick-up when I called in right after the crash - and no charge for a sudden drop in making Eddie put off his work? That's insane customer service which is why I still called in to tip them. It's places like this that make all the difference from the corporate feel to something the exact opposite of that. My hat goes off to these gents. As long as I'm in Austin, they'll have my support. Btw, here was the price David gave me for putting my bike together with two 32mm rain and gravel tires and spare two tubes for flats...about $88 before tip and tax. They basically just charged me for the tires and tubes. Oh, they also have a meet-up on Saturday mornings for rides down south. Great bike shop with great people running it. I've had my bike worked on at different places around Austin, and the guys at Buda Bike Co are the absolute best. They take such great care of my bike so I can ride comfortably knowing my bike is safe. David helped me with a bike fit on my tri bike as well, and made some really helpful adjustments. I highly recommend these guys as they are very knowledgeable and just awesome people! And they have no-drop group rides every Saturday and indoor spin classes on Wednesday. I took my bike down there twice all the way from Austin. Initially I appreciated that they helped me replace my tubes since they seem to be "super" busy all the time. Both times I called in advance to make sure it's okay for me to go. When I got there, David was rude and short. Made it seemed they're doing me a huge favor that he couldn't even talk to me. They didn't have the right tubes but luckily I got one ( but I still got charged for 2) in less than 2 weeks my front tire start deflating again. So I called them twice before going to make sure they got the right tube. When I got there , Dave couldn't even greet me cause he's "super busy" A minute later someone walks in and starts chit chatting with him for a while. His helper replaced my tube but once again he used a different styled one.
