Went in to buy a sandwich because I found this place on the blackbird app. I go and try to order my sandwich and I activate and click check out on my blackbird app. It seems that the management failed to properly train their staff members because the personnel at the register failed to process my order and allow me to order my food. And the personnel repeated over and over again how they don't know and how I needed to activate and show them a code when in reality, the rest is done by the staff member after a customer, activates and swipes check out in the blackbird app. I was really looking forward to eating one of their sandwiches, but unfortunately, due to the ignorance of the staff members that dream was not fulfilled. read more

A large tasty sandwich of cold meats and pickles, peppers. It was good, tasty and spicy (Italian hot) but it wasn't amazing but I don't think it was their fault. I just realized this is about as good as cured meat sandwiches get but I'm just not that into them especially at $20 a pop. The line moves quickly and the staff are nice. read more

GIOVANNI - Gotta give a shout out also to the lady who was helping me with recommendations. Super helpful and nice, wish I got her name. Anyway, this sandwich normally comes cold but they actually recommended I get it hot and I was in favor of that decision. The warm, toasty semolina bread (you have the option of choosing amongst two or three types) had a bit of a crunch to it and there was plenty of ham making this a meaty sandwich. The spicy pepper spread was enough to give it a kick and let you know it was there but not overpowering in anyway. You could taste the quality of the vegetables in the sandwich and all the components had a role to play, so it was purposeful and thoughtfully planned out. One of the better sandwiches I've had in a long time. Would I pay 17 bucks to try it? yes. Would I pay 17 bucks to have it again? Probably not but I'm not a sandwich person. read more

Me and my husband loved their cheesesteak sandwich (hot) with roasted beef, truffle, mushroom and provolone cheese. The sandwich was freshly prepared, I ordered mine with whole wheat bread. The Gothamist is everything you want in a sandwich - it hits you with so many flavors from pesto to the sun dried tomatoes to the burrata. I had it on chewy ciabatta but it was way too chewy my teeth hurt after eating half so will probably pick a different bread next time. However, the service is not good. The workers act like they do not want to work there and do not even look at you when you are ordering. Had to wait a bit just to place an order even though there was no one in line. read more

I wandered into the Hugh food court and wanted something for breakfast. This was one of four restaurants serving breakfast type foods. One of two with sandwiches. I ordered the Maria sandwich which was egg, cheese and smoked ham on a brioche. It smelled super yummy but I was disappointed from the first bite. It was so salty. I dissected the sandwich to eat it in parts to identify the culprit. The ham alone was salty but surprisingly so was the eggs. Unfortunately this place is a no for me. Meh. I had somewhat high hopes for Alidoro, but it did not live up to my expectations, or the expectations that anyone had set for me. I thought the service that the staff provided was minimal--none of the staff were particularly helpful, and my wait time for my food was slow...even though I went after the lunch rush and there were only a couple people they had to help. I found myself in Midtown East and I wandered into the Hugh food court. It is located next to Lexington Avenue E/M train station. My second time visiting an Alidoro Sandwich shop. I ordered a Turkey sandwich on Semolina. I took a seat in the very impressive food court and gobbled my sandwich down. The sandwich was very tasty, and the bread was very fresh. This really is a good spot for midtown to get an Italian sandwich,  I've gone with the "Matthew" and it never lets me down.  It all starts with fresh bread, then the prosciutto is better quality than anything in a deli. The mozzarella is top-notch, and the sauce makes all the difference. It's about $15 a sandwich but well worth it since all the ingredients are of the best quality. This isn't your average deli roll or "Italian bread". Highly recommend if you're craving a good sandwich you need Lex and 53rd Street. read more

I specifically asked the cheesesteak sandwich to be "well done" b/c I CANNOT eat raw, but the beef was 70% pink and I ended up throwing them away. I watched the timer on the toaster, the staff waited for the whole time but they must have adjusted the temperature. The sandwich used to be fully cooked b/c it's hot sandwich. I first want to state that the low score is not a reflection of the food, which was very good. This rating reflexes the encounter I had with who appears to be the manager or supervisor at the shop. After ordering my meal, I was given the electronic pager to let me know when my meal was ready. After a 30minute wait, I went back to check on the status of the meal to find that it was ready and waiting. The employee then informed me that they were paging me for the past 30 minutes. I received no call on my pager. I was then told I was sitting at a table too far away for the signal to reach me. (I was with a guest who pager did call within 5 minutes of our order). I took my sandwich, understandably annoyed, as I heard what I perceived as a somewhat sarcastic apology from the supervisor. About 10 minutes later, this same employee came up to my table and confronted me, in a heightened accusatory tone that I was sitting at a table where the pager would not reach and I disrespectful for not acknowledging the apology. My guest tried to explain that their pager when off without at problem. The employee however would not have it and blew off the explanation. This rant went on for over a minute in middle our meal. I suspect what may have actually happened is that the pager either malfunctioned or the shop forgot to send me the page. This was during lunch and the shop was busy (I also noticed that this particular supervisor was busy and appeared frustrated, explaining procedures to another employee who appeared to be a new hire.) Since I was an anonymous patron, I figure it was easier for this supervisor to vent their frustration on me rather than check if the pager was functioning, which never went off even when I brought it back to the shop. I had read good reviews about the food there and looked forward to trying their sandwiches, but after this experience, I have no reason to patronize a business seeing that I am apparently too entitled to be served by them. read more

The team handling the lunch crowd today at the 601 Lex location of Alidoro were a complete pleasure to deal with. It's always one of the busiest spots in The Hugh food hall, and they managed to be friendly, funny, and utterly charming. They represent the business well and should be recognized for it. Well done team! (Also, my sandwich [Daniela] was delicious, and a big thank you to the outgoing guy who went above and beyond to surprise my friend and I with a treat.) 5 stars for food, not for service. I was so happy to see an Italian deli with delicious ingredients. I got the sandwich that starts with a G lol. Don't remember the name. Prosciutto di Parma, buffala mozzarella, sun dried tomato paste and pesto as well on delicious crunch bread. I almost felt I was back in the home land. Also was able to get a San Benedetto iced tea and it was a great great meal. This location is inside a business building so I had to work my way around security a bit. The Alidoro at the Hugh is most likely the worst lunch place I've eaten at in Manhattan over the past few years. I was in a rush this past Wednesday so after avoiding this Alidoro for the past year I decided to give them another chance. The reason for avoiding it was I found the staff to be nasty and the sandwiches were lacking. Essentially they put nothing in between the bread. I think the current term for this is shrink-flation. Well I can say that this past Wednesday was worse than I could have imagined. As expected the staff was not great, yet the food was worse. When I go to an Italian sandwich shop i expect the bread to be an important and tasty part of my meal. This bread, actually a long type roll, was slightly toasted which makes me wonder how fresh the bread was. The sandwich I had was listed as a cold sandwich so I was surprised my roll was toasted. Also as expected the ingredients were practically non-existent and not that tasty. I had the Mona Lisa in case you're interested. The Hugh has some great restaurants, but avoid Alidoro. read more

With a gesture of kindness from Sakina and a delicious bite, I was transported out of these complex times, and into nostalgia; I remember going to my local Italian sandwich place growing up, thrilled to simply be having a sandwich and feeling connected to staff there. I did not expect that when I first walked into this monstrosity called the Hugh. It is full of modern and exciting quick bites, though at times unfortunately capable of producing that "grass is greener" feeling that has come with the millennial abundance of choice. On a mission, to pick up a sandwich for my wife, I learn that at 9:30am, sandwiches are not being served until 10am. I am expecting bureaucracy and disappointment. Then Sakina, who appeared to be working there alone making a mountain catering order, acted as a Good Samaritan within the concrete jungle, and offered to make an 'exception'al sandwich. It was selfless and flexible. I got a Il Sole; I could try to describe the cheese pull but it's best if you do it yourself. Regarding taste, imagine your favorite hot honey meat pizza slice, but leaner, dare I say "healthier" feeling, with some elevated flavors and textures thrown in the mix. Pretty good right? If that isn't the image for you, don't worry this sandwich will taste better than whatever you are imagining, especially if you end up pondering like me: how blissful and simple would it be if I just came here often, waved at my new friend Sakina, and got my "usual" sandwich? read more

I usually go to the midtown south location but tried the hugh today. Great location, friendly staff, wait for a sandwich wasn't long (probably 8 min). Unfortunately I ordered the Enzo which is a spicy soppressata sandwich and when I got home and unwrapped it, I was super sad to see they gave me the completely wrong sandwich (looks like the Brando which has chicken breast and totally different cheese and ingredients). The ingredients are fresh but I'm certainly not happy that the wrong sandwich was put in.... Pretty simple order? I messaged them on insta to see if I can get a credit since I paid $18 for the wrong sandwich plus a hefty tip- and If I do I will plan to upgrade back. This past week I've had the chance to grab lunch at The Hugh and came across Alidoro, I haven't heard much about this company but I was really craving a sandwich. I will say the wait was close to ten minutes but that wasn't bad considering it seem to be lunch time for everyone!!! For starters the team was super attentive and helpful, even with a busy ,snappy, hungry crowd they never dropped the energy!!!!
